This presentation discusses the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in language learning. It argues that constructivism is the appropriate paradigm for language learning in the modern era. Constructivism views learning as an active, creative, and socially interactive process. The presentation outlines several key principles of constructivism and constructionism and their relevance for language learning. It also provides a typology of different technology-enhanced language learning materials and discusses current trends, including the use of virtual learning environments and blending internet and CD-ROM resources.
