The study investigates the relationship between nutrition status and physical fitness in school boys aged 8-9 years from rural West Bengal, utilizing the AAHPERD youth fitness battery and weight-for-age as measures. Results indicate that while no significant differences were found in most motor performance variables among different nutrition status groups, a notable exception was the sit-up performance, which showed significant differences at the 0.02 level. The findings suggest a potential influence of nutrition status on certain aspects of physical fitness, emphasizing the importance of nutrition during childhood for lifelong health.
