2. Adversity of Jonas
When Jonas asks his
mom if she loves him
she says it is
inappropriate to say that
and he says yes in a sad
voice.
Jonas also finds out that
his dad releases babies
and Gabe will soon be
released.
3. How does Jonas Persevere His
Adversity?
Jonas perseveres his
adversity by running away to
another community with
Gabe on his dads bicycle.
Jonas breaks three
community laws to run away.
First he steals food from the
dining center, second he
steals his dads bicycle, and
third if he gets caught he can
get killed
When Jonas and Gabe were
really cold Jonas gives him a
memory of snow and says,”
Its called snow Gabe” he
whispered.
4. Jimmy Valentines Adversity
When Jimmy Valentine
gets out of Jail the officer
says live your life straight
and Jimmy says I have
never cracked a safe in
my life. Jimmy Valentine
lied and he was in jail for
that.
Jimmy Valentine, after jail
is going back into the
business of cracking
safes.
5. How does Jimmy Persevere His
Adversity
Before Jimmy valentine and his
friends walk in Elmore Bank they
see the owners daughter.
When Jimmy sees her he falls in
love and says he will never crack
another safe.
The clerk at the bank was
impressed what Jimmy was
wearing so he offered Jimmy a job
at a shoe company and Jimmy
works there.
In his note to his old pal Jimmy
says,” I am out of the old
business and I am giving you my
tools.
6. Zebra’s Adversity
Zebra was running down a
steep hill and a car hit him.
When he got hit and was
laid on the ground his eyes
closed very, very slowly.
The next time he woke up
he was in the hospital and
the only part of his body
that was hurt was his leg.
Zebra was mad because he
could not run anymore.
He found out from the
doctor that he would never
be able to run that fast
again. But his friends still
called him Zebra because
they all knew how fast he
could run.
7. Does Zebra Persevere His
Adversity?
When Zebra was out side one
day he meets a man named Mr.
Wilson asked Zebra where to
go to ask to do an art camp.
Zebra noticed that the man
only had one arm and wanted
to know what happened to him
but he didn’t ask. Zebra told
him his name and where to go
to ask for the art camp. Zebra
later got to know Mr. Wilson
better and joined his art camp.
Mr. Wilson drew a picture of
Zebra that looked just like him
and he dreamed about doing
art. When Zebra fell asleep that
night he had a dream about
zebras galloping across the .
fields and he heard the clicking
of their hooves. He knew he
was sleep but it was so real to
him.

Jimmy Valentine perseveres his
adversity by falling in love and joining
a shoe company.
Zebra perseveres his adversity by
meeting Mr. Wilson and joining his art
camp.
