The Giver

 Jonas’s Adversity: Jonas is
  now realizing that his
  community is not the
  same as he once thought
it was. Now that he is
  receiving memories he
  notices weird and unfair
  things and does not like
  his communities ways.
  The community had
  families set up the same
  way and only the giver
  and receiver are able to
  feel emotions like pain,
love, and hate due to the
  memories. To Jonas its
  just not fair.
The Giver

 Overcoming the
  Adversity: Jonas
  could not persuade
  the counsel to
  change the rules
  and ways of the
  community so he
  ran away with a
  baby who was about
  to be released. He
  took memories with
  him so that the
  community would
  suffer.
Zebra

 Zebra’s Adversity:
  Zebra loved to run.
  Every time he would
  he felt free. One day
  when Zebra was
  running he was hit
  by a car. Zebra
  injured his arm and
  leg. He would no
  longer run. Zebra is
  now left with a
  broken arm and a
  lost passion for
  running.
Zebra

 Overcoming the
  adversity: Zebra
  meets a man named
  John Wilson. John
  Wilson was in the
  Vietnam War. In
  that war he lost his
  arm. With this
  relatable disability
  John Wilson inspires
  Zebra and he
  overcomes his fear
  of that hill where he
  was hit.
A Crush

 Ernie’s Adversity: Ernie is
  mentally slow. He is not
  stupid but he does not
  progress as fast as others.
  Because of this Ernie needs
  special help. Without the
  support of his mother, who
  recently passed away, Ernie
is moved to a home that
  helps people with the similar
  problem. There, Ernie then
  meets a friend who takes
him out to town and shows
  him around different places.
  While out Ernie spots
  Delores, a woman working
in a shop, and realizes he
  has a crush.
A Crush

 Overcoming the
  adversity: Ernie then
  starts sending Delores
  dozens of flowers that
  he has grown by
  himself. Ernie never
  tells that the flowers
are from him or that he
  even has a crush on
  Delores. Hinting from
  the gesture Delores
  starts to dress up nicely
  waiting for the man
  behind the flowers.
All Together

 All the characters from this story show that they have
courage and that even though they go through tough
situations they find a way to overcome them. Each
characters story is different but in the end they all pull
  through whatever challenge they face.
