Research
• The media industry that I am most interested
in is photography. At this point in time its
what I want to do in the future either
through going to university or looking into an
apprenticeship after college. There are
different jobs in photography that you can go
into. You can take photos at social events like
weddings, party’s, baptisms etc. You can do a
commercial side of photography where you
take pictures of brands like food, clothes and
tech for adverts and billboards. You can also
take photos for social media where people
can hire you to take photos of them for their
social media pages or website. Those are 3 of
the main ones but there are more.
Photography also allows you to either work
for a company or work for yourself in terms
of a job
Research
• There are definitely many skills needed to go into the
photography industry. You need to know how to use and
function a camera. Although nowadays a lot of people take
photos on their phones, to go into photography
professionally you most definitely need to be able to use a
camera as well. There are many different brands of cameras
now but having a knowledge of one of them will make
learning the rest of them easier. As they will all have the
same settings and buttons they will just be formatted
differently. Another important skill you will need is knowing
how to use lights. Whether you are taking photos in a studio
or on location you will need to use production lights to
lighten, darken or give a cool colour effect to your photos.
You will need to know things like light settings, how close or
far away the lights need to be held. You also have to make
sure that there's nothing in the lighting that will be unfixable
during postproduction. For example: If the light is too bright
that It blocks the face of the model, you won't be able to fix
that in postproduction. And finally, you will need to know
how to edit photos in software's like photoshop (especially if
you are working for yourself). If you are working in a
company them the chances, are you will take the photos
and then someone would edit them for you but if you are
working for yourself you will need to know how to do this
yourself. If you are taking photos at social events them
there's probably not much editing that you need to do but if
your taking photos for commercials or for social media, then
there will definitely be a lot to do.

5 Year Plan.
What are you currently doing to pursue a career in your chosen field?
I'm am unsure exactly what career path I want to take which is why I chose this
course (Level 3 Dip Creative media and production technology). However, I am quite
interested in VFX which is editing visual effects in films and or games. But I do just
enjoy all the editing aspects in. media so I feel that any kind of job involving video
editing could be a possibility. Outside of school I record my gameplay at home when
playing with friends on my PS4 or pc which then I will edit into cool montages and
add special effect features, music and sound effects. I will then either keep them to
add them onto other edits I've done or ii will upload then to the small YouTube
channel that I have. I don’t have a huge audience but the people that do watch them
I always get amazing feedback from. At the moment I like the idea of going to
university so specialize properly in something but as I am still unsure about what path
I want to take I haven't properly looked and uni courses yet.
What do you plan to do next in the pursuit of your chosen field?
I am not sure exactly what I want to do yet after college, but I think it will be one of two things. One I will go to
uni to study whatever I will choose during second year of college. Or two I will look at doing an apprentiship in
whatever side of media I decide to go into. But I like the idea of an apprentiship more than uni as I feel that
there's only some things you need to go to uni for.
In 5 years time I will…
In 5 years' time I will either be still in or just finishing university and starting to look at
jobs or will be in a job from my apprentiship or in a different job
End of Year Review
Which productions have worked/not worked?
• My most successful project was my music video as I
got a strong video at the end of it, and everything
was planned well.
• My least successful project was the audio
project as It took me 3 times to get the audio as the
first one didn’t work, and we couldn’t hear any
sound. And then the second time my idea didn’t
work when I put it into premiere pro as my audio
didn’t make much of a story, so I had to redo it
again with a different idea. And because of this I
had to rush the editing at the end, and it was as
good as I planned.
How you have managed your time?
• Time management is something I need to be
improving on. Through a lot of my projects, I miss
judged how much time I had and ended up rushing
during the last week due to running out of time.
• Next time I Definitely need to have a clear and
concise plan about what I am doing and when and
making sure it's all been fitted in.
What skills you have developed?
• In the first project I developed camera skills in
learning how to use it and all the different settings.
I also learnt a lot more about editing on premiere
pro during editing the music video. An example of
this was I learnt how to use an audio transition to
make a change in music seamless. During the audio
project I learnt how to use an audio recorder and
use different props to make foley sounds for the
recording. And during the games animation project
I learnt how to use photoshop to make the
animation as I didn’t know how to do that before.
How you have worked with others?
During all 3 of our projects throughout the year we
all had to do one each however me and my friends
did help each other with our projects. So, we all had
to communicate each other to make sure we were
doing what each of us wanted.
How you organised your time, resources and equipment
throughout the year?
As I said before I organised my time poorly however, I
terms of resources and equipment it was strong. I
always had what I needed and didn’t ever have
anything missing. Before I went to go filming during
the music video project, I wrote down a quick recce
checklist and I didn’t leave my house until I had
everything on that list. I did this for anything that I
needed equipment for.

  • 1. Job Roles and Working in the Creative Media Production Industry
  • 3. Research • The media industry that I am most interested in is photography. At this point in time its what I want to do in the future either through going to university or looking into an apprenticeship after college. There are different jobs in photography that you can go into. You can take photos at social events like weddings, party’s, baptisms etc. You can do a commercial side of photography where you take pictures of brands like food, clothes and tech for adverts and billboards. You can also take photos for social media where people can hire you to take photos of them for their social media pages or website. Those are 3 of the main ones but there are more. Photography also allows you to either work for a company or work for yourself in terms of a job
  • 4. Research • There are definitely many skills needed to go into the photography industry. You need to know how to use and function a camera. Although nowadays a lot of people take photos on their phones, to go into photography professionally you most definitely need to be able to use a camera as well. There are many different brands of cameras now but having a knowledge of one of them will make learning the rest of them easier. As they will all have the same settings and buttons they will just be formatted differently. Another important skill you will need is knowing how to use lights. Whether you are taking photos in a studio or on location you will need to use production lights to lighten, darken or give a cool colour effect to your photos. You will need to know things like light settings, how close or far away the lights need to be held. You also have to make sure that there's nothing in the lighting that will be unfixable during postproduction. For example: If the light is too bright that It blocks the face of the model, you won't be able to fix that in postproduction. And finally, you will need to know how to edit photos in software's like photoshop (especially if you are working for yourself). If you are working in a company them the chances, are you will take the photos and then someone would edit them for you but if you are working for yourself you will need to know how to do this yourself. If you are taking photos at social events them there's probably not much editing that you need to do but if your taking photos for commercials or for social media, then there will definitely be a lot to do.

  • 9. What are you currently doing to pursue a career in your chosen field? I'm am unsure exactly what career path I want to take which is why I chose this course (Level 3 Dip Creative media and production technology). However, I am quite interested in VFX which is editing visual effects in films and or games. But I do just enjoy all the editing aspects in. media so I feel that any kind of job involving video editing could be a possibility. Outside of school I record my gameplay at home when playing with friends on my PS4 or pc which then I will edit into cool montages and add special effect features, music and sound effects. I will then either keep them to add them onto other edits I've done or ii will upload then to the small YouTube channel that I have. I don’t have a huge audience but the people that do watch them I always get amazing feedback from. At the moment I like the idea of going to university so specialize properly in something but as I am still unsure about what path I want to take I haven't properly looked and uni courses yet.
  • 10. What do you plan to do next in the pursuit of your chosen field? I am not sure exactly what I want to do yet after college, but I think it will be one of two things. One I will go to uni to study whatever I will choose during second year of college. Or two I will look at doing an apprentiship in whatever side of media I decide to go into. But I like the idea of an apprentiship more than uni as I feel that there's only some things you need to go to uni for.
  • 11. In 5 years time I will… In 5 years' time I will either be still in or just finishing university and starting to look at jobs or will be in a job from my apprentiship or in a different job
  • 12. End of Year Review
  • 13. Which productions have worked/not worked? • My most successful project was my music video as I got a strong video at the end of it, and everything was planned well. • My least successful project was the audio project as It took me 3 times to get the audio as the first one didn’t work, and we couldn’t hear any sound. And then the second time my idea didn’t work when I put it into premiere pro as my audio didn’t make much of a story, so I had to redo it again with a different idea. And because of this I had to rush the editing at the end, and it was as good as I planned.
  • 14. How you have managed your time? • Time management is something I need to be improving on. Through a lot of my projects, I miss judged how much time I had and ended up rushing during the last week due to running out of time. • Next time I Definitely need to have a clear and concise plan about what I am doing and when and making sure it's all been fitted in.
  • 15. What skills you have developed? • In the first project I developed camera skills in learning how to use it and all the different settings. I also learnt a lot more about editing on premiere pro during editing the music video. An example of this was I learnt how to use an audio transition to make a change in music seamless. During the audio project I learnt how to use an audio recorder and use different props to make foley sounds for the recording. And during the games animation project I learnt how to use photoshop to make the animation as I didn’t know how to do that before.
  • 16. How you have worked with others? During all 3 of our projects throughout the year we all had to do one each however me and my friends did help each other with our projects. So, we all had to communicate each other to make sure we were doing what each of us wanted.
  • 17. How you organised your time, resources and equipment throughout the year? As I said before I organised my time poorly however, I terms of resources and equipment it was strong. I always had what I needed and didn’t ever have anything missing. Before I went to go filming during the music video project, I wrote down a quick recce checklist and I didn’t leave my house until I had everything on that list. I did this for anything that I needed equipment for.
