5. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated

• There are several action shots that are taken the moment power tools are used. There are lots of
shots of sparks and bright flashes.
• Most of the pictures aren’t bright, clear white. They have an orange / yellow tint to them. This
fits well with an industrial engineering style. The industry isn’t about super clean, bright modern
facilities.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• The colour grading of the shots is not something I had considered. I will take inspiration from the
colour style and try to implement a theme into my video.
• Looking at existing pictures has shown me the types of shots that caught my attention. I found
the “action shots” were the most eye catching. I don’t want the viewers of the video to get
bored and click off. Therefore I will try and include a range of shots that contain flashes and
things with power tools happening.
6. Skills Audit
Strengths Limitations
Using Garage Band to create music.
The experimentation with creating music during the
audio project was something I found enjoyable.
I also have previous audio production experience that
will make using the software easier and quicker.
Time management. I have found previously that I can let
the workload build up. This creates a rush to get the
work done on time.
I also need to be aware of my personal life. I need to
managed my college time so that

I have gathered experience in and out of college
assembling video clips.
Not having a full understanding of the software.
Despite have greater experience in some areas than in
others. I would still say my knowledge of adobe
software is limited. If I want to create some effects, I may
have to spend time experimenting and learning what to
do. This could cause delay to production.
Photoshop
The one piece of Adobe software I am most familiar with
is Photoshop.
7. Skills Audit - Limitations
• While evaluating my own personal skills, I have concluded some personal limitations:
– Time Management: I will try and set out a schedule of personal deadlines for the project that
enable me to have some extra overflow time. I will try and plan the project in a way that gives
plenty of time for me to make alterations.
– Lack of knowledge for software: Something that could slow progress is a lack of knowledge
about some features of the software I will be using.
Before I start filming, I am going to draft ideas for how the video will flow together. I will look at how
I want transitions to look. From there I can figure out if I need to spend time learning how to make
particular effects happen.
8. Why are you making this project?
• Over the past months I have experimented with different types of media.
• Overall, I think that the one of the things that went the best was during the
audio project. Within the audio project I experimented with creating music in garage
band. It Is one of things I have enjoyed the most so far. As a result for the FMP I want
to experiment with making more audio.
• I have decided to create music to fit with a video. By creating my own music I
am hoping that I will be able alter the feel of the music at certain points to fit with
what is being shown.
9. Hopes for the FMP
• During the FMP, I would like to improve my knowledge of Premier Pro.
• In particular, for the video I have proposed. I would like to learn techniques that can
create good looking transitions.
• By the end of the FMP, I want more confidence editing. A career in video editing is
something I may be interested in. Learning skills in industry standard software is
useful if I do go down that path.
• Overall, I wish to create a promotional video that is interesting to view. I also want
to focus on making sure it fits the style of the company I am producing it for.
10. Strengths and Limitations
Strengths Limitations
Having existing video production knowledge. I have edited videos
previously, although they were a different style I can still use some
of my existing knowledge and take it forward.
Hopefully this knowledge will speed up the edit process and mean
I don’t have to spend ages figuring out how to do things.
I don’t have a knowledge of colour grading.
-When collecting material for my mood board I noticed a lot of the
existing pictures had a yellow tint to them. It created a sort of
industrial feel.
For my project I want to make sure the shots flow and don’t go
really dark to light.
I have no existing knowledge of colour grading, so picking it up and
getting it right could be time consuming.
Limited time in college.
I have plenty of time out of college over the easter holiday to go
and get footage.
The rest of my project production requires me to have access to
specific software. I only have access to this software within
college. This means I need to manage my college hours well so
that I don’t run short of time to do things.
11. Potential Research Activities
• Create a survey and send it out:
– College student responses:
• Limited response demographic:
All people are the same “young” age and from similar backgrounds. This could limit how well the research ends up working.
– Send it out on social media and get a wider demographic of people to respond: Could
