Creative Media Production Y1 2021-22
Analysis of projects
Each slide should be 75-100 words long
Which specific production tasks have you
enjoyed most this year?
• 1. Taking Photos: I was tasked with taking photos for my poster, I took pictures of my set up props and
what I needed in and around college. This part gave me a lot of creativity and freedom, I was able to
bring my new ideas to life in interesting photography practical work.
• 2. Coming up with a Story: I had to come up with a story for my posters and videogame so I planned in my
spare time to make a good plot. I got to bring to life something I improvised and planned a lot to life, I
love showing my imaginations full potential when I get given the chance.
• 3. Filming the Music Video: The music video was the biggest project so far were I got to make a project
with proper filming equipment. As you know my favourite part of creative media is the practical work, the
music video allowed me to do the filming (which is my favourite type of practical work) professionally
which gave me a lot of fun.
What challenges have you faced this
year in your practical work?
• The main problem I faced was the short amount of time I had to finish each product, a lot of time would
just be filling out power point after power point. A great example is my videogame, I had two weeks to
make the animation but then it got cut down to four days, however, (like I did with the other work) I
always asked when the teachers exactly wanted it in and then I use my free time to try and finish it.
• Another challenged I faced was the lack experience I had when editing, I never used Photoshop and I was
extremely slow to get to grips with learning it, my first time on premiere was also slow and with both of
these editing formats I needed a lot of constant help. How I handled it was asking for help a lot and
trying to memorise how the systems work, I even used my notepads to make notes on how everything worked
and I eventually learned the formats (even if I got rusty when spending more time on the other).
Which process do you think you have
made the most development in?
• The practical work seemed to be the most developed part of the process I was in, I made a; music video
were I recorded the audio and then filmed everything at the times when the actors I needed were there,
audio ghost story and used a device to make simple sounds and posters/videogame all themed around
adventure were I took photos for posters, I also used photoshop to make an amateur pixel horror game. I
feel like I specialise in this part of the process because I’ve had a lot of experience in filming and
improvising with acting and a script, I just get to let my imagination fly. The practical part of the
process was shown in the music video, I had to film most of the shots and I was the sole director who made
everything work.
Which technical skill do you think is you
strongest?
• Editing was the technical skill I was strongest in, I made the music video flow in a good sequence and I
was able to successfully splice the best footage together with a song that had to be split apparat, I also
(despite my amatureness in making audio) I succeed in using my best audio to make smooth convincing
sounds. I had some brief experience in editing on premiere by making some practical experiments which I
had no creative control over, the music video was my first proper project and I was able to edit the best
footage together which was said to be nice and smooth when it was properly executed and the audio that
split apart (screen can only record five minutes on an iPad) presented a new problem but I put the audio
back together but looking at the points in the video which made the audio also smooth. My audio project
was all sorts of amateur but my experience in audio made me pick out and attach the audio properly which
made it flow well with my script.
What do you think has been your best
project and why?
• Obviously the music video is my best project because of how it was made; the continuity of the sets and
weapons, good actors who are quite humorous, editing of the footage that makes it go in a good sequence,
editing in reattaching the audience to make a smooth song. In the movies I made in the past they lacked
proper continuity, however, sets that are kept the same and you constantly see makes them well developed
and the kids using the same weapons adds little bits of good continuity, the actors put a lot into their
performance (and seeing as my movies always turn out as unintentional comedies) where they became funny
and enjoyable. The reception I got was (besides for the strung out shots) that people said it was smooth
and this was thanks to the organised scenes, properly focused cameras and good editing which all came
together quite well, the audio was a challenge because my screen recording could only capture five minutes
when the video was seven, I had to carefully edit the audio together and in the end it also turned out
smooth and fitted with the footage.
Which project did you enjoy least and
why?
• The adventure project of posters and one videogame was my least favourite project for the two reasons of
not doing that much practical work and filling out endless power points. I enjoyed taking photos of what I
needed for my main and second posters, but then I spent the rest of the time making posters and filler
work on the computer all day everyday, I had to pull from Google images because I only planned to make two
posters. I signed up to the Creative Media course to make movies and learn how they’re made, but I didn’t
think about the research and analysis work I had to do, but I still found it boring to fill out uneding
power points instead of doing practical work.
How have you managed your time
effectively this year?
• I made the best student in my class list because of how I always handed my work in on time, so I’d say I
managed my time well thanks to learning the dates work had to be in and trying to get the work done in
that time. I always asked when each work was due by when new work got added, I always tried to complete
the work in time and I even cut out my own break and lunch times to get things done. Getting the work done
alone was difficult because there were always so many slides I had to fill out in power points, but I
spent lunch and break times to get them finished.
Action Plan
Each slide should be a minimum of 100
words in length
What roles/specialism do you see
yourself working in on future projects?
• I had experience in filmmaking long before I joined this college (I began making movies in 2017) and I
gained a lot of experience by participating in everything that makes a movie, but the ones I specialise in
are directing, filming and editing, those three roles are what I see working in on future projects. The
future projects I make I will be in charge of, I will direct people on what they have to do and how the
movie is made, I make a good leader and my leadership will make good products. I am not one for being a
camera man, but seeing as I learned how to use a camera, I will film my own unique shots to make future
projects how I want. My cousin taught me how to edit a movie and from the skills I learned back then and
the skills I learned from Adobe Premiere now I will edit these future projects in the ways I want.
What do you see yourself doing at the
end of the course next year?
• I plan to be in the second year of creative media and then I will either go to York University or see if I
can get a degree in film making here. I will then either make proper movies on my YouTube channel or be
apart of a local or not big-leagues film corporation to get experience and make products to show to big-
leagues corporations so I can get a proper movie making job. I will then show my experience and products
to Marvel Studios (by proxy Walt Disney Studios) so I can become a director for them, but if they don’t
accept me I may join other movie corporations like: Universal Studios, 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers
(if they stop making bad movies), Sony (if they stop making bad movies) DreamWorks, Lionsgate, New Line
Cinema, eone, Paramount, etc.
What research do you need to do in order to
explore your future progression options?
• Even though I have experience in making movies and will gain more knowledge and experience in York
College, I will still have to learn how movies are made and how these movie corporations work. I will look
up how movies are made and take a course in movie making (maybe I will even join a movie club) all to find
learn how movies are made for my research on my future. I will have to do heavy research on the origins of
movies and the movie corporations that make them, I will also have to learn everything about the
corporations to know how they work so I come prepared for my future.
