This document introduces the concepts of information literacy and its components. It defines information literacy as the ability to locate, access, evaluate, use, and communicate information effectively. The main components of information literacy discussed are defining a need or problem, finding relevant information, evaluating the credibility and quality of information, organizing information to address the need, and communicating information legally and ethically. Critical thinking, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills are also presented as contributing to becoming information literate.
