I have taken copyright-free sketches from the internet where it summaries the 'story' of my music video. This task was completed so I have a rough idea on how my music video will look when it comes to editing. This is just a summary idea of my music video and I will sketch the ultimate shots that I will definitely be using on a piece of plain paper.
This task is all about collecting screenshots of scenes within the music video that have influenced me in using them in my personal music video. By completing this task, I have understood and found out what shots I would be using my my music video when it comes to shooting and this would be easily when I complete my Initial Ideas post.
I have analysed the magazine adverts of my favorite artists which are: Meek Mill (Dreams and Nightmares), Jay-Z (Blueprint 3) and Rihanna (Russian Roulette & Hard). I have gone deeply in explaining why the artists used such thing in their magazine adverts and backed it up with examples. The quality of my writing clearly shows that I have a greater understanding of both of the adverts.
This is the analysis of the existing digipaks which I have researched and analysed. The digipaks which I have chosen are: Eminem (Recovery), Kanye West (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) and 50 Cent (The Massacre).

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. CAMERA SHOTS:
This is a close up shot of the
model looking directing at the
camera. A close up shot is
when a feature or part of the
subject takes up the whole
frame but still can see the
background. This shot has
been used to signify the
model’s expression towards her
singing and emphasising her
reaction state.
Furthermore, this shot is called
a medium close up which is a
shot half way between a
medium shot and a close up
shot. This particular shot
exposes the face more clearly
without getting uncomfortably
close. Compared to her
previous shot, this one stands
out due to her hairstyle which
looks fancy and attractive.
Bird’s Eye view has been used
in this shot. The use of a bird’s
eye view is to show from
directly above which creates a
dramatic effect and shows a
different spatial perspective.
The bird’s eye view really
stands out as the background
is black and the dominant
model is looking up at the
camera which symbolizes that
she is interacting with the
audience.
3. MISE-EN-SCENE:
In this scene, mise-en-scene
has been used to attract the
audience. The model is
wearing a purple dress which
evokes romantic and nostalgic
feelings. The dress stands out as
the background is black and
makes the dress look more
attractive. Along with the
purple dress, there are glitters
stacked to the top of the dress
to make it seem as if the model
is luxurious, powerful and
ambitious.
This shot has a complete binary
opposites where the female
model is wearing a man’s outfit
to symbolize that she may be a
feminine but her action is very
masculine. This can be seen
through the formal dress she is
wearing along with the mark on
her face that signifies that she is
masculine and strong.
In this scene, the model has
light on one side of her face
which means that she has a
positive side and also a
negative side where her other
part of her face is dark. The light
is coming is coming from the
back which is known as a black
light. The back light is placed
behind the model and lights it
from the rear. The purpose of
the back light is to prove
definition and subtle highlights
to the model.
4. EDITING:
This scene has an editing
technique where the duration
of the scene is extended to 4
seconds to signify that this
scene is important as it exposes
the model’s expression to the
audiences. This scene gives the
audience the opportunity to
see the model’s face for a bit
longer to feel confident with
the music video.
Dissolve is an editing technique
which has been used in this
scene to show the romantic
effect of how the model is
looking at the camera (the
audience) in different places. A
dissolve is a gradual transition
from one image to another. The
duration of the dissolve to the
next scene only takes 2 to 3
seconds which is make the
dissolve editing visible and very
appealing to the audience.
This scene has a slow pace
(slow motion) to signify that this
scene is very important and as
the ambient sound is soft and
flowing with the instrumental
music, it gives the audiences a
hint that they are meant to feel
relaxed when they watch this
scene. A slow motion is an
effect in music videos whereby
time appears to be slowed
down. The slow motion can be
used for artistic effect, to create
romance or suspense
5. SOUND: FLORENCE + THE MACHINE - SPECTRUM
THE MUSIC VIDEO AMY WICHELOW HAS USED AN EXISTING SONG WHICH IS CALLED
SPECTRUM BY FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE. THIS SONG EXAGGERATES THROUGHOUT THE
MUSIC VIDEO WHICH MAKES THE AUDIENCES EXCITED. AS THE SONG IS SUNG BY A WOMAN,
IT WAS SUITABLE FOR AMY’S FRIEND TO PERFORM CONFIDENTLY IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA.
THIS CHOSEN SONG IS A DOWNTEMPO BAROQUE POP, ART ROCK AND INDIE POP.
