The document discusses Islamic concepts of knowledge ('ilm) and true knowledge (ma'rifah). It provides definitions of both terms and explores their usage in the Quran. Some key differences between 'ilm and ma'rifah are outlined. The Islamic epistemological perspective is described as comprehensive, incorporating revelation, reason, experimentation and senses. This is contrasted with the secular Western approach, which rejects revelation and takes a more empirical, reductionist view. Imam Ghazali's definition of knowledge as leading to the true goal of knowing Allah is mentioned.

MUSLIM PHILOSOPHERS' PERSPECTIVE ON EDUCATIONR.A Duhdra
Muslim Philosophers’ Contribution towards education is worth mentioning. Muslim Philosophers emphasized on logic, reality, freedom of will, sources Of knowledge etc. They have tried to harmonize the Philosophers Perspectives & Greek Philosophy with tenants of Islam and synthesize science, religion and philosophy and defined their subject matter to keep balance in them.
Significance of knowledge and education is explained in the light of Quran and Sunnah and scholar's writings. Meaning of education and its scope is elaborated in the light of Islamic teachings. Types of knowledge is explained and how to effectively educate. Finally, it is explained how to maintain and enhance our knowledge throughout our life.
With the rapid development in the areas of science and technology, many things and ideas come to see the light of the day. Not all that come in the name of progress and development are acceptable to the Muslims who have a unique metaphysical framework (Aqaid) of their own. Nevertheless, without the proper understanding of their Islamic worldview, Muslims are bound to face a lot of challenges from contending ideologies like Secularism, Post-modernism, Liberalism, Humanism, etc. Sad to say, in modern times a small portion from the Muslim community, particularly those who are not well grounded in their understanding of their worldview have gone astray in believing all is well in modern science which mainly comes from the West. This presentation is an endeavor by the research team to highlight what can be adopted and should be discarded in dealing with modern science. This presentation has also highlighted the fact and driven home the message to the Muslim community that a total rejection of modern science is not an ideal thing to do. As such, they have to be meticulously selective in choosing the goodness that comes from modern science.
Knowledge and learning in Islam is a duty on every Muslim It was also related by Anas b. Malik that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Seeking knowledge

In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
The authors explained that while machine translation (MT) previously relied heavily on linguists, the landscape has shifted. “Linguistics is no longer front and center in the way we build NLP systems,” they said. With the emergence of LLMs, which can generate fluent text without the need for specialized modules to handle grammar or semantic coherence, the need for linguistic expertise in NLP is being questioned.

‘Positive’ refers to positivism, i.e. theory of knowledge that knowledge can only be achieved through experimentation and observation, rather than metaphysics, theology and revelation.

‘Agnosticism’ is the belief that God’s existence is unprovable. Don’t know if God exists or not. ‘scientism’ too much dependence on science; mechanization, dependence on machines.
