This document proposes a smart public distribution system to digitize India's public ration distribution process. The current manual system allows for corruption as shopkeepers can underprovide ration amounts. The proposed system issues digital cards to customers, who scan their card, enter a PIN, and select ration quantities from an interface. An SMS confirms the transaction. Data on customer details and balances is stored in a database. The system aims to increase transparency and prevent fraud using RFID cards, SMS notifications, and a database backend. It could later integrate weighing and receipts. The document outlines the system components, workflow, benefits of RFID, future scope and conclusions on improving access and fairness for ration recipients.
