Executive Summary
Pakistan is a developing country and they have to face many challenges every day,
in spite of all these challenges they are making progress. WAPDA is the largest
department of Pakistan that providing electricity energy throughout the whole
country and they have millions of customer but currently they are facing a bundle
of problems. The major problem that WAPDA is facing to count consumers
consumption or manage the system of meter reading. Manual reading system that
is traditional system to record meter reading which is currently use is now become
old and not be effective even consumer are not satisfied and believe on manual
meter reading. So it is a time to fulfill the consumers needs, wants, desires and
demands or any new technology that is trustable which higher the satisfaction level
of the customer as well as consumers and easy to use. Because in manual system
not only consumers but also WAPDA workers feel difficulties and there is many
possibilities to damage or mishap manual recorded readings. A advanced
technology (auto reading )in which a WAPDA worker can accesses the electricity
meter of every consumer and can easily check the current reading and update in
his I’d. A mechanical and technical process involved in this technology and some
advanced electro devices are used. These devices work in a sequence.
This report explains the marketing plan for initiation a new device named auto
meter reading. In the start of the report we have elucidate the mission and vision of
the auto meter reader. Then we have continued our process to achieve goals and
objectives. It will be introduced in market with the help of various promotional
displays, advertisements and dissemination of free samples to the general public
and financial institutions. This report examines that this product is launching in
whole Pakistan domestic market. The study includes both primary and secondary
research.
Mission:
WAPDA use auto meter reader instead of old traditional meter reading system
which is manual system and there is chances in numbers of mistakes which cannot
resolve easily that is a big problem not only for WAPDA’s it is also a big problem
for consumers or customers but by the use of this auto meter reader we can
improve our status in market and in front of consumers and customers, and
decrease the chances of mistakes in recorded readings and also save our country
from electricity corruptions.
Vision:
 We are bringing advancement in electricity meters reading system to meet
WAPDA’s needs and satisfactions.
 It overcome the mistakes and Makes life easier not only WAPDA but also
increase the satisfaction of customers and consumers.
 It provide online bill checking system direct on WAPDA I’d accounts to
overcome the difficulties which is a raised due to the old faulty system.
Objectives
 An improved and up to date system is established that is significance of a
developing country.
 Through Ardunio technology it is easy to recognize which areas are going
through energy crises.
 Auto meter reading save a lot of time that WAPDA can consume on other
projects.
 Auto meter are reliable because there is no chance to mishap the record or
any incorrect reading based on references.
 Auto meter cannot be tampered and provides an accurate and actual
consumption.
 It will allow the WAPDA to better forecast the demand detailed information
and thus set the prices accordingly.
 It refers to the additional cost reduction in the WAPDA labor reading,
collecting Date and update in consumer ID.
Introduction
WAPDA is the larger organization and sector of Pakistan that provide energy
throughout the whole country. Different plants founded to meet with energy crises
and overcome the supply deficit. But WAPDA recording system has no worth due
to mismanagement and lack of technology. Mostly it deals with meter reading and
preparation of bills every month.
Earlier there were too many complaints about the faulty system of meter readings
and huge rush could be observed at WAPDA offices so that erroneous billing
information could be fixed.
However, a significant reduction has been noted in the number of complaints
against the faulty meter reading system. Furthermore, it can now be observed
whether meter readers are at duty or not, contrary to earlier practices.
In meter reading process a larger number of WAPDA worker involved. Workers
have to check each meter reading that is difficult because total meters are 20
million in number and to check 20 million meter reading 1 lake workers are
required and it takes so much time and efforts. In many cases incorrect readings are
recorded due to worker negligence and some corruption matters. In some places or
in some cities to record meter readings Government provide selfie sticks to take
photo of reading but it is also not much effective to record accurate readings. In
2014, Government makes a reading photo system to avoid incorrect reading that is
also become useless for accurate readings. Auto meter reading which work for
WAPDA and WAPDA’s headquarter is a nine story office building which is
located in Lahore, Pakistan.
To resolve these meter reading problems and challenges a technology is required
that create the mechanical and technical reading environment. We can solve this
issue by the Arduinio technology. Through this technology a WAPDA workers can
check meter reading of any meter online and within a click update in consumer ID
and make monthly bills. In this technique 1 lake workers works compress to
thousand workers, it saved much of cost
Ardunio

Ardunio 4G Shield Server compute WAPDA
It works with the Ardunio. Ardunio will be fixed inside the electricity that is
connection to units counter. It can receive accurate date and save it own memory
and then to the Ardunio 4G Shield.
7. PEST analysis:
P: Political analysis
 Taxation law:
We are working for the WAPDA with the help of Ardunio 4G Shield Taxation
laws are from the government on our new system is fully under the
Government so WAPDA’s have to pay all the taxes that government imposes
on products or sales or transport or technology etc.
 Labor law:
According to labor law we have to justify all the rights of labors that are
working in our company. Labor is being honored here having all the laws. If
we applied this system then less numbers of labor are required instead of that
are required for previous system, AMR also harrows all the laws that
government announces for WAPDA workers. Government announces 5000
salaries for employs in WAPDA.
E: Economic analysis
 Inflation rate:
We cannot increase prices suddenly but increase or decreases prices of the
product according to inflation rate of the economy. But we can say that about our
AMR , it minimize the inflation rate because it saves electricity from corruption
due to which unaccepted change will bring in inflation rate.
 Economic growth rate:
GDP Annual Growth Rate in Pakistan is expected to be 4.00 percent by the end of this quarter,
according to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations. In the long-term,
the Pakistan GDP Annual Growth Rate is projected to trend around 4.50 percent in 2020,
according to our econometric models.
S: Social factors
 Health consciousness:
Our product AMR does not contain any damaging material that effect health
of workers. It is also pollution free.
 Demographic trend:
Is the study of the growth, structure, and movement of human populations?
It focuses on enumerations (censuses), which take stock of a population at a
moment in time, and also flows of vital events—births, deaths, marriages,
and migratory movements.
 Age structure:
No specific age group is embattled for our product because our product is
digital meter device used by complete economy no specific age group is
targeted.
T: Technological factors
There are many technologies used in the creation of our device. Play store app
for id account for WAPDA, Ardunio development payment, online checking
systems, security, body and led etc.
5. Situational analysis:
1. Target:
Our target is not only one or two companies our basic target is whole
economy because we make AMR for WAPDA use and WAPDA provide
electricity to the almost whole country.
2. Needs and wants:
Customer’s needs are our first priority because our AMR product is only
made to fulfill the satisfaction level of customers, workers, consumers and
WAPDA requirements.
3. Trend:
We introducing a new product for SME as a new entrepreneur and introduce
new trends for the WAPDA’s. It is excellent product and its working is also
very efficient as compare to the old traditional methods of WAPDA’s.
4. Growth:
Our objective is to grow the WAPDA working efficiency and save the
electricity to corruption and improve economy growth rate.
6. SWOT analysis:
 Strengths:
There is a new government under a new administration. As always,
there are supporters and detractors—as there should be in a healthy
democracy. But between change and the status quo, change is
always preferred- especially if the status quo is problematic and the
country is Pakistan.
1. Mover advantage:
We are the primary mover in SME that we are the first that bring this AMR
to the business. So we have to become dedicated with our customers’ needs.
This thing makes a good image of WAPDA in SME.
2. Quality conscious:
If our product is good in quality then that’s Strength of our company
increase SHE growth because of good quality.
 Weaknesses:
The economy is not out of danger. Debt servicing and the military
budget continue to eat away our budget. We run up our debt when
the rupee was over-valued and now we must pay it back on a
devalued rupee. And no, there seems no method to the madness; it is
just madness through and through.
People do not accept change easily they do not want to move
towards innovations because they are very well use to with their old
traditional methods or technologies therefore, this is might be our
weakness for our new launching product which is AMR.
Opportunity:
Our product is our opportunity because it works with Ardunio
which is a reliable technological process. It works is best and it is
very beneficial for WAPDA.
 Threats:
1. Government regulation:
Regularly changes in economic growth, inflation rate, etc are basically
our threats because people did not accept change due to imbalanced
economy.
Therefore, we cannot increase prices suddenly but increase or decreases prices of
the product according to inflation rate of the economy. But we can say that about
our AMR , it minimize the inflation rate because it saves electricity from
corruption due to which unaccepted change will bring in inflation rate.
Workings of our product (AMR)
AMR is worked with Ardunio:-
Ardunio will be fixed inside the electricity that is connection to units counter.
Ardunio can receive accurate date and save it own memory and then to the
Ardunio 4G Shield.
Ardunio as device explanation given below.
Introduction of Ardunio;-
Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects. Arduino
consists of both a physical programmable circuit board (often referred to as
a microcontroller) and a piece of software, or IDE (Integrated Development
Environment) that runs on your computer, used to write and upload computer code
to the physical board.
The Arduino platform has become quite popular with people just starting out with
electronics, and for good reason. Unlike most previous programmable circuit
boards, the Arduino does not need a separate piece of hardware (called a
programmer) in order to load new codeonto the board – you can simply use a USB
cable. Additionally, the Arduino IDE uses a simplified version of C++, making it
easier to learn to program. Finally, Arduino provides a standard form factor that
breaks out the functions of the micro-controller into a more accessible package.
What's on the board?
There are many varieties of Arduino boards (explained on the next page) that can
be used for different purposes. Some boards look at: bit different from the one
below, but most Arduinos have the majority of these components in common.
Power (USB / Barrel Jack)
Every Arduino board needs a way to be connected to a power source. The Arduino
UNO can be powered from a USB cable coming from your computer or a wall
power supply (like this) that is terminated in a barrel jack. In the picture above the
USB connection is labeled (1) and the barrel jack is labeled (2).
The USB connection is also how you will load code onto your Arduino board.
More on how to program with Arduino can be found in our Installing and
Programming Arduino tutorial.
NOTE: Do NOT use a power supply greater than 20 Volts as you will overpower
(and thereby destroy) you’re Arduino. The recommended voltage for most Arduino
models is between 6 and 12
Pins (5V, 3.3V, GND, Analog, Digital, PWM, AREF)
The pins on your Arduino are the places where you connect wires to construct a
circuit (probably in conjuction with a breadboard and some wire. They usually
have black plastic ‘headers’ that allow you to just plug a wire right into the board.
The Arduino has several different kinds of pins, each of which is labeled on the
board and used for different functions.
 GND (3): Short for ‘Ground’. There are several GND pins on the Arduino,
any of which can be used to ground your circuit.
 5V (4) & 3.3V (5): As you might guess, the 5V pin supplies 5 volts of
power, and the 3.3V pin supplies 3.3 volts of power. Most of the simple
components used with the Arduino run happily off of 5 or 3.3 volts.
 Analog (6): The areas of pins under the ‘Analog In’ label (A0 through A5
on the UNO) are Analog In pins. These pins can read the signal from an
analog sensor (like a temperature sensor) and convert it into a digital value
that we can read.
 Digital (7): Across from the analog pins are the digital pins (0 through 13 on
the UNO). These pins can be used for both digital input (like telling if a
button is pushed) and digital output (like powering an LED).
 PWM (8): You may have noticed the tilde (~) next to some of the digital
pins (3, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 on the UNO). These pins act as normal digital
pins, but can also be used for something called Pulse-Width Modulation
(PWM). We have a tutorial on PWM, but for now, think of these pins as
being able to simulate analog output (like fading an LED in and out).
 AREF (9): Stands for Analog Reference. Most of the time you can leave this
pin alone. It is sometimes used to set an external reference voltage (between
0 and 5 Volts) as the upper limit for the analog input pins.
Reset Button
Just like the original Nintendo, the Arduino has a reset button (10). Pushing it will
temporarily connect the reset pin to ground and restart any code that is loaded on
the Arduino. This can be very useful if your code doesn’t repeat, but you want to
test it multiple times. Unlike the original Nintendo however, blowing on the
Arduino doesn’t usually fix any problems.
Power LED Indicator
Just beneath and to the right of the word “UNO” on your circuit board, there’s a
tiny LED next to the word ‘ON’ (11). This LED should light up whenever you
plug your Arduino into a power source. If this light doesn’t turn on, there’s a good
chance something is wrong. Time to re-check your circuit!
TX RX LEDs
TX is short for transmit, RX is short for receive. These markings appear quite a bit
in electronics to indicate the pins responsible for serial communication. In our
case, there are two places on the Arduino UNO where TX and RX appear – once
by digital pins 0 and 1, and a second time next to the TX and RX indicator
LEDs (12). These LEDs will give us some nice visual indications whenever our
Arduino is receiving or transmitting data (like when we’re loading a new program
onto the board).
Main IC
The black thing with all the metal legs is an IC, or Integrated Circuit (13). Think of
it as the brains of our Arduino. The main IC on the Arduino is slightly different
from board type to board type, but is usually from the AT mega line of IC’s from
the ATMEL company. This can be important, as you may need to know the IC
type (along with your board type) before loading up a new program from the
Arduino software. This information can usually be found in writing on the top side
of the IC. If you want to know more about the difference between various IC’s,
reading the datasheets is often a good idea.
Voltage Regulator
The voltage regulator (14) is not actually something you can (or should) interact
with on the Arduino. But it is potentially useful to know that it is there and what
it’s for. The voltage regulator does exactly what it says – it controls the amount of
voltage that is let into the Arduino board. Think of it as a kind of gatekeeper; it will
turn away an extra voltage that might harm the circuit. Of course, it has its limits,
so don’t hook up your Arduino to anything greater than 20 volts.
4G + GPS Shield for Ardunio
Ardunio 4G Shield
Ardunio 4G shield receive data from ardunio chip/board and then through Wi-Fi
connection transfer this data to the WAPDA server. 4G shield small in size and it
is fixed at the top of Ardunio chip.
Ardunio 4G shield explanation and Characteristics given below
The new 4G shield for Arduino and Raspberry Pi enables the connectivity to high
speed LTE, HSPA+, WCDMA cellular networks in order to make possible the
creation of the next level of worldwide interactivity projects inside the new
"Internet of Things" era.
Most of the major cities are already turning their cellular networks to the new 4G
LTE and at the same time shutting down the old technologies such as GPRS and
GSM. 3G will survive a couple of years more but it is planned to be completely
shut off too. For this reason from Libelium and our Open Source Division -
Cooking Hacks - have decided to be the first to offer to the Maker community the
possibility of using the amazing 4G cellular networks.
The new communication module is specially oriented to work with Internet servers
implementing internally several application layer protocols which make easier to
send the information to the cloud. We can make HTTP navigation, downloading
and uploading content to a web server. We can also set secure connections
using SSL Certificates and setting TCP/IP private sockets. In the same
way FTPprotocol is also available which is really useful when your application
requires handling files?
The 4G shield has a SD socket that it is controlled by the external MCU of the
main board where we are connecting it (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Wasp mote) to
save data coming or going to the 4G network. With the SD Card socket so you can
handle a complete FAT16 file systems and store up to 32GB of information.
You can also use it as a standard 4G / LTE modem with a Download speed up
to 100Mbps and an Upload speed of 50Mbps!. Just connect it through its specific
mini-USB socket to your laptop (Linux, Windows, and MacOS) and go! And yes!
You can also connect it through the USB port to your Raspberry Piand get the full
speed with it too.
The GPS / Glonass module also makes possible perform geolocation
services using NMEA sentences offering information such as latitude, longitude,
altitude and speed what makes it perfect to perform tracking applications.
The new 4G shield offers the maximum performance of the 4G network as it uses
two different antennas (normal + diversity) for RX (MIMO DL 2x2) choosing the
best received signal at any time and getting a maximum download speed
of 100Mbps.
We choose the LE910 family from Telit as it comprises the most complete 4G
LTE set of variants released up to date. It counts with many different models, one
specifically designed for each market but
Wi-Fi Web Server
WAPDA server catches the consumer data from 4G Shield and display to the
WAPDA officer in display to interface.
Server details are there:
In this example, you will use your Wi-Fi Shield and your Arduino to create a
simple Web server. Using the Wi-Fi library, your device will be able to answer a
HTTP request with your Wi-Fi shield. After opening a browser and navigating to
your Wi-Fi shield's IP address, your Arduino will respond with just enough HTML
for a browser to display the input values from all six analog pins.
This example is written for a network using WPA encryption. For WEP or WPA,
change the Wi-Fi. Begin () call accordingly.
Hardware Required
 Arduino Wi-Fi Shield
 Shield-compatible Arduino board
 (optional) Six analog sensors attached to Analog in Pins 0-5
Circuit
The Wi-Fi shield uses pins 10, 11, 12, and 13 for the SPI connection to
the HDG104 module. Digital pin 4 is used to control the slave select pin on the SD
card.
You should have access to an 802.11b/g wireless network that connects to the
internet for this example. You will need to change the network settings in the
sketch to correspond to your particular networks SSID.
For networks using WPA/WPA2 Personal encryption, you need the SSID and
password. The shield will not connect to networks using WPA2 Enterprise
encryption.
WEP network passwords are hexadecimal strings known as keys. A WEP network
can have 4 different keys; each key is assigned a "Key Index" value. For WEP
encrypted networks, you need the SSID, the key and key number.
Image developed using Fritzing. For more circuit examples, see the Fritzing project
page
In the above image, the Arduino would be stacked below the Wi-Fi shield.
Warning
This example doesn't require an SD card. If an SD card is inserted but not used, it
is possible for the sketch to hang, because pin 4 is used as SS (active low) of the
SD and when not used it is configured as INPUT by default. Two possible
solutions:
 remove the SD card;
 add these lines of code in the setup()

Conclusion
The whole analysis regarding the current energy crises and the energy theft issue
coupled with losses of more then billion dollars in the energy sector invoke us to us
to think new, improved and efficient ways to make the most of the available energy
resources that we have in Pakistan; and smart metering is one the most potential
applicable solution that is available to Pakistan to cope with this problem.
From the wide acceptance of this project around the world shows us that, with no
doubt this technology is mature and can be implemented on a large scale to
encourage an efficient use of a scarce such as energy.
Al thought there are some challenges to be tackled. The major and foremost
challenge is that the success of this project is largely dependent on the consumer
who chooses in the first place to make an efficient use of energy and save their
money. There is a need for the awareness of this equipment and know-how is also,
it is reasonable to say that smart metering should be started in the industrial sector
and urban areas first and after success of the project in those areas it should be
deployed intensively in the rural areas of Pakistan.

  • 5. Executive Summary Pakistan is a developing country and they have to face many challenges every day, in spite of all these challenges they are making progress. WAPDA is the largest department of Pakistan that providing electricity energy throughout the whole country and they have millions of customer but currently they are facing a bundle of problems. The major problem that WAPDA is facing to count consumers consumption or manage the system of meter reading. Manual reading system that is traditional system to record meter reading which is currently use is now become old and not be effective even consumer are not satisfied and believe on manual meter reading. So it is a time to fulfill the consumers needs, wants, desires and demands or any new technology that is trustable which higher the satisfaction level of the customer as well as consumers and easy to use. Because in manual system not only consumers but also WAPDA workers feel difficulties and there is many possibilities to damage or mishap manual recorded readings. A advanced technology (auto reading )in which a WAPDA worker can accesses the electricity meter of every consumer and can easily check the current reading and update in his I’d. A mechanical and technical process involved in this technology and some advanced electro devices are used. These devices work in a sequence. This report explains the marketing plan for initiation a new device named auto meter reading. In the start of the report we have elucidate the mission and vision of the auto meter reader. Then we have continued our process to achieve goals and objectives. It will be introduced in market with the help of various promotional displays, advertisements and dissemination of free samples to the general public and financial institutions. This report examines that this product is launching in whole Pakistan domestic market. The study includes both primary and secondary research.
  • 6. Mission: WAPDA use auto meter reader instead of old traditional meter reading system which is manual system and there is chances in numbers of mistakes which cannot resolve easily that is a big problem not only for WAPDA’s it is also a big problem for consumers or customers but by the use of this auto meter reader we can improve our status in market and in front of consumers and customers, and decrease the chances of mistakes in recorded readings and also save our country from electricity corruptions. Vision:  We are bringing advancement in electricity meters reading system to meet WAPDA’s needs and satisfactions.  It overcome the mistakes and Makes life easier not only WAPDA but also increase the satisfaction of customers and consumers.  It provide online bill checking system direct on WAPDA I’d accounts to overcome the difficulties which is a raised due to the old faulty system. Objectives  An improved and up to date system is established that is significance of a developing country.
  • 7.  Through Ardunio technology it is easy to recognize which areas are going through energy crises.  Auto meter reading save a lot of time that WAPDA can consume on other projects.  Auto meter are reliable because there is no chance to mishap the record or any incorrect reading based on references.  Auto meter cannot be tampered and provides an accurate and actual consumption.  It will allow the WAPDA to better forecast the demand detailed information and thus set the prices accordingly.  It refers to the additional cost reduction in the WAPDA labor reading, collecting Date and update in consumer ID. Introduction WAPDA is the larger organization and sector of Pakistan that provide energy throughout the whole country. Different plants founded to meet with energy crises and overcome the supply deficit. But WAPDA recording system has no worth due to mismanagement and lack of technology. Mostly it deals with meter reading and preparation of bills every month. Earlier there were too many complaints about the faulty system of meter readings and huge rush could be observed at WAPDA offices so that erroneous billing information could be fixed. However, a significant reduction has been noted in the number of complaints against the faulty meter reading system. Furthermore, it can now be observed whether meter readers are at duty or not, contrary to earlier practices.
  • 8. In meter reading process a larger number of WAPDA worker involved. Workers have to check each meter reading that is difficult because total meters are 20 million in number and to check 20 million meter reading 1 lake workers are required and it takes so much time and efforts. In many cases incorrect readings are recorded due to worker negligence and some corruption matters. In some places or in some cities to record meter readings Government provide selfie sticks to take photo of reading but it is also not much effective to record accurate readings. In 2014, Government makes a reading photo system to avoid incorrect reading that is also become useless for accurate readings. Auto meter reading which work for WAPDA and WAPDA’s headquarter is a nine story office building which is located in Lahore, Pakistan. To resolve these meter reading problems and challenges a technology is required that create the mechanical and technical reading environment. We can solve this issue by the Arduinio technology. Through this technology a WAPDA workers can check meter reading of any meter online and within a click update in consumer ID and make monthly bills. In this technique 1 lake workers works compress to thousand workers, it saved much of cost Ardunio Chip Ardunio 4G Shield Server compute WAPDA It works with the Ardunio. Ardunio will be fixed inside the electricity that is connection to units counter. It can receive accurate date and save it own memory and then to the Ardunio 4G Shield. 7. PEST analysis: P: Political analysis  Taxation law: We are working for the WAPDA with the help of Ardunio 4G Shield Taxation laws are from the government on our new system is fully under the
  • 9. Government so WAPDA’s have to pay all the taxes that government imposes on products or sales or transport or technology etc.  Labor law: According to labor law we have to justify all the rights of labors that are working in our company. Labor is being honored here having all the laws. If we applied this system then less numbers of labor are required instead of that are required for previous system, AMR also harrows all the laws that government announces for WAPDA workers. Government announces 5000 salaries for employs in WAPDA. E: Economic analysis  Inflation rate: We cannot increase prices suddenly but increase or decreases prices of the product according to inflation rate of the economy. But we can say that about our AMR , it minimize the inflation rate because it saves electricity from corruption due to which unaccepted change will bring in inflation rate.  Economic growth rate: GDP Annual Growth Rate in Pakistan is expected to be 4.00 percent by the end of this quarter, according to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations. In the long-term, the Pakistan GDP Annual Growth Rate is projected to trend around 4.50 percent in 2020, according to our econometric models. S: Social factors  Health consciousness: Our product AMR does not contain any damaging material that effect health of workers. It is also pollution free.  Demographic trend: Is the study of the growth, structure, and movement of human populations? It focuses on enumerations (censuses), which take stock of a population at a
  • 10. moment in time, and also flows of vital events—births, deaths, marriages, and migratory movements.  Age structure: No specific age group is embattled for our product because our product is digital meter device used by complete economy no specific age group is targeted. T: Technological factors There are many technologies used in the creation of our device. Play store app for id account for WAPDA, Ardunio development payment, online checking systems, security, body and led etc. 5. Situational analysis: 1. Target: Our target is not only one or two companies our basic target is whole economy because we make AMR for WAPDA use and WAPDA provide electricity to the almost whole country. 2. Needs and wants: Customer’s needs are our first priority because our AMR product is only made to fulfill the satisfaction level of customers, workers, consumers and WAPDA requirements. 3. Trend: We introducing a new product for SME as a new entrepreneur and introduce new trends for the WAPDA’s. It is excellent product and its working is also very efficient as compare to the old traditional methods of WAPDA’s. 4. Growth:
  • 11. Our objective is to grow the WAPDA working efficiency and save the electricity to corruption and improve economy growth rate. 6. SWOT analysis:  Strengths: There is a new government under a new administration. As always, there are supporters and detractors—as there should be in a healthy democracy. But between change and the status quo, change is always preferred- especially if the status quo is problematic and the country is Pakistan. 1. Mover advantage: We are the primary mover in SME that we are the first that bring this AMR to the business. So we have to become dedicated with our customers’ needs. This thing makes a good image of WAPDA in SME. 2. Quality conscious: If our product is good in quality then that’s Strength of our company increase SHE growth because of good quality.  Weaknesses: The economy is not out of danger. Debt servicing and the military budget continue to eat away our budget. We run up our debt when the rupee was over-valued and now we must pay it back on a devalued rupee. And no, there seems no method to the madness; it is just madness through and through. People do not accept change easily they do not want to move towards innovations because they are very well use to with their old traditional methods or technologies therefore, this is might be our weakness for our new launching product which is AMR. Opportunity:
  • 12. Our product is our opportunity because it works with Ardunio which is a reliable technological process. It works is best and it is very beneficial for WAPDA.  Threats: 1. Government regulation: Regularly changes in economic growth, inflation rate, etc are basically our threats because people did not accept change due to imbalanced economy. Therefore, we cannot increase prices suddenly but increase or decreases prices of the product according to inflation rate of the economy. But we can say that about our AMR , it minimize the inflation rate because it saves electricity from corruption due to which unaccepted change will bring in inflation rate. Workings of our product (AMR) AMR is worked with Ardunio:- Ardunio will be fixed inside the electricity that is connection to units counter. Ardunio can receive accurate date and save it own memory and then to the Ardunio 4G Shield. Ardunio as device explanation given below. Introduction of Ardunio;- Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects. Arduino consists of both a physical programmable circuit board (often referred to as a microcontroller) and a piece of software, or IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that runs on your computer, used to write and upload computer code to the physical board. The Arduino platform has become quite popular with people just starting out with electronics, and for good reason. Unlike most previous programmable circuit boards, the Arduino does not need a separate piece of hardware (called a
  • 13. programmer) in order to load new codeonto the board – you can simply use a USB cable. Additionally, the Arduino IDE uses a simplified version of C++, making it easier to learn to program. Finally, Arduino provides a standard form factor that breaks out the functions of the micro-controller into a more accessible package. What's on the board? There are many varieties of Arduino boards (explained on the next page) that can be used for different purposes. Some boards look at: bit different from the one below, but most Arduinos have the majority of these components in common. Power (USB / Barrel Jack) Every Arduino board needs a way to be connected to a power source. The Arduino UNO can be powered from a USB cable coming from your computer or a wall power supply (like this) that is terminated in a barrel jack. In the picture above the USB connection is labeled (1) and the barrel jack is labeled (2).
  • 14. The USB connection is also how you will load code onto your Arduino board. More on how to program with Arduino can be found in our Installing and Programming Arduino tutorial. NOTE: Do NOT use a power supply greater than 20 Volts as you will overpower (and thereby destroy) you’re Arduino. The recommended voltage for most Arduino models is between 6 and 12 Pins (5V, 3.3V, GND, Analog, Digital, PWM, AREF) The pins on your Arduino are the places where you connect wires to construct a circuit (probably in conjuction with a breadboard and some wire. They usually have black plastic ‘headers’ that allow you to just plug a wire right into the board. The Arduino has several different kinds of pins, each of which is labeled on the board and used for different functions.  GND (3): Short for ‘Ground’. There are several GND pins on the Arduino, any of which can be used to ground your circuit.  5V (4) & 3.3V (5): As you might guess, the 5V pin supplies 5 volts of power, and the 3.3V pin supplies 3.3 volts of power. Most of the simple components used with the Arduino run happily off of 5 or 3.3 volts.  Analog (6): The areas of pins under the ‘Analog In’ label (A0 through A5 on the UNO) are Analog In pins. These pins can read the signal from an
  • 15. analog sensor (like a temperature sensor) and convert it into a digital value that we can read.  Digital (7): Across from the analog pins are the digital pins (0 through 13 on the UNO). These pins can be used for both digital input (like telling if a button is pushed) and digital output (like powering an LED).  PWM (8): You may have noticed the tilde (~) next to some of the digital pins (3, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 on the UNO). These pins act as normal digital pins, but can also be used for something called Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM). We have a tutorial on PWM, but for now, think of these pins as being able to simulate analog output (like fading an LED in and out).  AREF (9): Stands for Analog Reference. Most of the time you can leave this pin alone. It is sometimes used to set an external reference voltage (between 0 and 5 Volts) as the upper limit for the analog input pins. Reset Button Just like the original Nintendo, the Arduino has a reset button (10). Pushing it will temporarily connect the reset pin to ground and restart any code that is loaded on the Arduino. This can be very useful if your code doesn’t repeat, but you want to test it multiple times. Unlike the original Nintendo however, blowing on the Arduino doesn’t usually fix any problems. Power LED Indicator Just beneath and to the right of the word “UNO” on your circuit board, there’s a tiny LED next to the word ‘ON’ (11). This LED should light up whenever you plug your Arduino into a power source. If this light doesn’t turn on, there’s a good chance something is wrong. Time to re-check your circuit! TX RX LEDs TX is short for transmit, RX is short for receive. These markings appear quite a bit in electronics to indicate the pins responsible for serial communication. In our case, there are two places on the Arduino UNO where TX and RX appear – once by digital pins 0 and 1, and a second time next to the TX and RX indicator LEDs (12). These LEDs will give us some nice visual indications whenever our Arduino is receiving or transmitting data (like when we’re loading a new program onto the board).
  • 16. Main IC The black thing with all the metal legs is an IC, or Integrated Circuit (13). Think of it as the brains of our Arduino. The main IC on the Arduino is slightly different from board type to board type, but is usually from the AT mega line of IC’s from the ATMEL company. This can be important, as you may need to know the IC type (along with your board type) before loading up a new program from the Arduino software. This information can usually be found in writing on the top side of the IC. If you want to know more about the difference between various IC’s, reading the datasheets is often a good idea. Voltage Regulator The voltage regulator (14) is not actually something you can (or should) interact with on the Arduino. But it is potentially useful to know that it is there and what it’s for. The voltage regulator does exactly what it says – it controls the amount of voltage that is let into the Arduino board. Think of it as a kind of gatekeeper; it will turn away an extra voltage that might harm the circuit. Of course, it has its limits, so don’t hook up your Arduino to anything greater than 20 volts. 4G + GPS Shield for Ardunio Ardunio 4G Shield Ardunio 4G shield receive data from ardunio chip/board and then through Wi-Fi connection transfer this data to the WAPDA server. 4G shield small in size and it is fixed at the top of Ardunio chip. Ardunio 4G shield explanation and Characteristics given below The new 4G shield for Arduino and Raspberry Pi enables the connectivity to high speed LTE, HSPA+, WCDMA cellular networks in order to make possible the creation of the next level of worldwide interactivity projects inside the new "Internet of Things" era.
  • 17. Most of the major cities are already turning their cellular networks to the new 4G LTE and at the same time shutting down the old technologies such as GPRS and GSM. 3G will survive a couple of years more but it is planned to be completely shut off too. For this reason from Libelium and our Open Source Division - Cooking Hacks - have decided to be the first to offer to the Maker community the possibility of using the amazing 4G cellular networks. The new communication module is specially oriented to work with Internet servers implementing internally several application layer protocols which make easier to send the information to the cloud. We can make HTTP navigation, downloading and uploading content to a web server. We can also set secure connections using SSL Certificates and setting TCP/IP private sockets. In the same way FTPprotocol is also available which is really useful when your application requires handling files? The 4G shield has a SD socket that it is controlled by the external MCU of the main board where we are connecting it (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Wasp mote) to save data coming or going to the 4G network. With the SD Card socket so you can handle a complete FAT16 file systems and store up to 32GB of information. You can also use it as a standard 4G / LTE modem with a Download speed up to 100Mbps and an Upload speed of 50Mbps!. Just connect it through its specific mini-USB socket to your laptop (Linux, Windows, and MacOS) and go! And yes! You can also connect it through the USB port to your Raspberry Piand get the full speed with it too.
  • 18. The GPS / Glonass module also makes possible perform geolocation services using NMEA sentences offering information such as latitude, longitude, altitude and speed what makes it perfect to perform tracking applications. The new 4G shield offers the maximum performance of the 4G network as it uses two different antennas (normal + diversity) for RX (MIMO DL 2x2) choosing the best received signal at any time and getting a maximum download speed of 100Mbps. We choose the LE910 family from Telit as it comprises the most complete 4G LTE set of variants released up to date. It counts with many different models, one specifically designed for each market but Wi-Fi Web Server WAPDA server catches the consumer data from 4G Shield and display to the WAPDA officer in display to interface. Server details are there: In this example, you will use your Wi-Fi Shield and your Arduino to create a simple Web server. Using the Wi-Fi library, your device will be able to answer a HTTP request with your Wi-Fi shield. After opening a browser and navigating to your Wi-Fi shield's IP address, your Arduino will respond with just enough HTML for a browser to display the input values from all six analog pins. This example is written for a network using WPA encryption. For WEP or WPA, change the Wi-Fi. Begin () call accordingly. Hardware Required  Arduino Wi-Fi Shield  Shield-compatible Arduino board  (optional) Six analog sensors attached to Analog in Pins 0-5
  • 19. Circuit The Wi-Fi shield uses pins 10, 11, 12, and 13 for the SPI connection to the HDG104 module. Digital pin 4 is used to control the slave select pin on the SD card. You should have access to an 802.11b/g wireless network that connects to the internet for this example. You will need to change the network settings in the sketch to correspond to your particular networks SSID. For networks using WPA/WPA2 Personal encryption, you need the SSID and password. The shield will not connect to networks using WPA2 Enterprise encryption. WEP network passwords are hexadecimal strings known as keys. A WEP network can have 4 different keys; each key is assigned a "Key Index" value. For WEP encrypted networks, you need the SSID, the key and key number.

Warning This example doesn't require an SD card. If an SD card is inserted but not used, it is possible for the sketch to hang, because pin 4 is used as SS (active low) of the SD and when not used it is configured as INPUT by default. Two possible solutions:  remove the SD card;  add these lines of code in the setup() Design Our finalized product is look like this smart device…

  • 22. . Budget: We are going to introducing new system to record meter reading in Pakistan. We don’t have to establish a new company because this device is introducing by government by WAPDA. So we just have to build a devise. For that our budget is 300,000.  Methods of allocation: 1. Different modules (Log in, connect with I’d, Auto meter readings, Check system, Bill auto) 2. Play store app (for WAPDA id account) 50,000/- 3. Ardunio manufacturing payment 30,000/- 4. Run process 20,000/- 5. Workers salaries 50,000/- 6. Meter design 10,000/- 7. Online checking system (web base) 10,000/- 8. Security 12,000/- 9. Body and led 15,000/- 10.Permission from Government 50,000/- 11.Another requirement 10,000/- TOTAL 257,000/- Benefits Conclusion The whole analysis regarding the current energy crises and the energy theft issue coupled with losses of more then billion dollars in the energy sector invoke us to us to think new, improved and efficient ways to make the most of the available energy resources that we have in Pakistan; and smart metering is one the most potential applicable solution that is available to Pakistan to cope with this problem.
  • 23. From the wide acceptance of this project around the world shows us that, with no doubt this technology is mature and can be implemented on a large scale to encourage an efficient use of a scarce such as energy. Al thought there are some challenges to be tackled. The major and foremost challenge is that the success of this project is largely dependent on the consumer who chooses in the first place to make an efficient use of energy and save their money. There is a need for the awareness of this equipment and know-how is also, it is reasonable to say that smart metering should be started in the industrial sector and urban areas first and after success of the project in those areas it should be deployed intensively in the rural areas of Pakistan.
