This document proposes using blockchain technology to create a food supply chain traceability system for real-time food monitoring from production to consumption. Blockchain would record sensor data at each supply chain node to track food quality. Sensors in food packages would detect factors like temperature and microbial growth. Smart contracts would verify transactions by checking sensor readings meet thresholds. This would allow tracing of food origin, quality, location and ownership in an open and tamper-proof ledger visible to all supply chain participants. The system aims to ensure food quality is maintained throughout the supply chain process.
