This document summarizes research on developing a wrist pulse acquisition system to monitor human health status based on principles of Ayurveda. It discusses how nadi pariksha (pulse examination) is currently done subjectively in Ayurveda to analyze doshas (biological energies) and identify imbalances. The document proposes creating a system that uses a sensor to acquire wrist pulse signals, preprocess the data to reduce noise, classify health conditions by comparing to pulses of healthy individuals, and alert people to potential diseases. It reviews several related studies on pulse-based diagnosis and feature extraction techniques to automate analysis of pulse waveforms for health monitoring. The future scope is described as developing a smaller, cost-effective version incorporated into smart
This research task develops a mobile healthcare analysis system (PHAS) which combines both easy ECG signal measurement and reliable analysis of heart rate variability for home care purpose. The PHAS is composed by a health care platform (HCP) and a data system analysis (DSA) module. The HCP consists of a self-developed two pole electrocardiography (ECG) measuring device and the DSA a data processing unit for detection and analysis of heart rate variability. For the DSA module, the adaptive R Peak detection algorithm is proposed to reliably detect the R peak of ECG for HRV analysis. A number of features are extracted from ECG signals. A data mining method is employed for HRV analysis to exploit the correlation between HRV and these features. Experiments are conducted by establishing a database of ECG signals measured from 29 subjects under rest and exercise condition. The results show the PHAS’s significant potential in mobile applications of personal daily health care.

In this research work, a new technique was proposed for the diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) from the ECG signal. The advanced imaging techniques can be used to diagnose left ventricular hypertrophy, but it leads to time-consuming and more expensive. This proposed technique overcomes thesef issues and may serve as an efficient tool to diagnose the LVH disease. The LVH causes changes in the patterns of ECG signal which includes R wave, QRS and T wave. This proposed approach identifies the changes in the pattern and extracts the temporal, spatial and statistical features of the ECG signal using windowed filtering technique. These features were applied to the conventional classifier and also to the neural network classifier with the modified weights using a genetic algorithm. The weights were modified by combining the crossover operators such as crossover arithmetic and crossover two-point operator. The results were compared with the various classifiers and the performance of the neural network with the modified weights using a genetic algorithm is outperformed. The accuracy of the weights modified feedforward neural network is 97.5%.

In this paper an effective and most reliable method for appropriate classification of cardiac arrhythmia using automatic Artificial Neural Network (ANN) has been proposed. The results are encouraging and are found to have produced a very confident and efficient arrhythmia classification, which is easily applicable in diagnostic decision support system. The authors have employed 3 neural network classifiers to classify three types of beats of ECG signal, namely Normal (N), and two abnormal beats Right Bundle Branch Block (RBBB) and Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC). The classifiers used in this paper are K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Naive Bayes Classifier (NBC) and Multi-Class Support Vector Machine (MSVM). The performance of the classifiers is evaluated using 5 parametric measures namely Sensitivity (Se), Specificity (Sp), Precision (Pr), Bit Error Rate (BER) and Accuracy (A). Hence MSVM classifier using Crammers method is very effective for proper ECG beat classification.
Classification of Normal and Crackles Respiratory Sounds into Healthy and Lun...IJECEIAES
Lung cancer is the most common cancer worldwide and the third most common cancer in Malaysia. Due to its high prevalence worldwide and in Malaysia, it is an utmost importance to have the disease detected at an early stage which would result in a higher chance of cure and possibly better survival. The current methods used for lung cancer screening might not be simple, inexpensive and safe and not readily accessible in outpatient clinics. In this paper, we present the classification of normal and crackles sounds acquired from 20 healthy and 23 lung cancer patients, respectively using Artificial Neural Network. Firstly, the sounds signals were decomposed into seven different frequency bands using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based on two different mother wavelets namely Daubechies 7 (db7) and Haar. Secondly, mean, standard deviation and maximum PSD of the detail coefficients for five frequency bands (D3, D4, D5, D6, and D7) were calculated as features. Fifteen features were used as input to the ANN classifier. The results of classification show that db7 based performed better than Haar with perfect 100% sensitivity, specificity and accuracy for testing and validation stages when using 15 nodes at the hidden layer. While for Haar, only testing stage shows the perfect 100% for sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy when using 10 nodes at the hidden layer.

In this project, we put forward a new automated quality aware ECG beat classification method for effectual diagnosis of ECG arrhythmias under unsubstantiated health concern environments. The suggested method contains three foremost junctures i ECG signal quality assessment ECG SQA based whether it is “acceptable†or “unacceptable†based on our preceding adapted complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition CEEMD and temporal features, ii reconstruction of ECG signal and R peak detection iii the ECG beat classification as well as the ECG beat extraction, beat alignment and Random forest RF based beat classification. The accuracy and robustness of the anticipated method is evaluated by means of different normal and abnormal ECG signals taken from the standard MIT BIH arrhythmia database. The suggested ECG beat extraction approach can recover the categorization accuracy by protecting the QRS complex portion and background noises is suppressed under an acceptable level of noise . The quality aware ECG beat classification techniques attains higher kappa values for the classification accuracies which can be reliable as evaluated to the heartbeat classification methods without the ECG quality assessment process. Abstract The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a well known method that can be used to measure Heart Rate Variability (HRV). This paper describes a procedure for processing electrocardiogram signals (ECG) to detect Heart Rate Variability (HRV). In recent years, there have been wide-ranging studies on Heart rate variability in ECG signals and analysis of Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia (RSA). Normally the Heart rate variability is studied based on cycle length variability, heart period variability, RR variability and RR interval tachogram. The HRV provides information about the sympathetic-parasympathetic autonomic stability and consequently about the risk of unpredicted cardiac death. The heart beats in ECG signal are detected by detecting R-Peaks in ECG signals and used to determine useful information about the various cardiac abnormalities. The temporal locations of the R-wave are identified as the locations of the QRS complexes. In the presence of poor signal-to-noise ratios or pathological signals and wrong placement of ECG electrodes, the QRS complex may be missed or falsely detected and may lead to poor results in calculating heart beat in turn inter-beat intervals. We have studied the effects of number of common elements of QRS detection methods using MIT/BIH arrhythmia database and devised a simple and effective method. In this method, first the ECG signal is preprocessed using band-pass filter; later the Hilbert Transform is applied on filtered ECG signal to enhance the presence of QRS complexes, to detect R-Peaks by setting a threshold and finally the RR-intervals are calculated to determine Heart Rate. We have implemented our method using MATLAB on ECG signal which is obtained from MIT/BIH arrhythmia database. Our MATLAB implementation results in the detection of QRS complexes in ECG signal, locate the R-Peaks, computes Heart Rate (HR) by calculating RR-internal and plotting of HR signal to show the information about HRV. Abstract ECG signal classification utilizes for different predictions of heart diseases. These ECG signals have to be classified using different frequency bands according to different energy levels for better prediction of features. These signals have to be classified in different five bands P, Q, R, S and T. These sub-bands provide peak information available in different sub-bands. For the classification various approaches have to be implemented for filtration of signal. In the purposed work Adaptive filter has been implemented for the noise reduction from these signals. Classification of the ECG signal has been optimized using Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization approach. Extraction of respiratory rate from ppg signals using pca and emdeSAT Journals
Abstract Photoplethysmography is a non-invasive electro-optic method developed by Hertzman, which provides information on the blood volume flowing at a particular test site on the body close to the skin. PPG waveform contains two components; one, attributable to the pulsatile component in the vessels, i.e. the arterial pulse, which is caused by the heartbeat, and gives a rapidly alternating signal (AC component). The second one is due to the blood volume and its change in the skin which gives a steady signal that changes very slowly (DC component). PPG signal consists of not only the heart-beat information but also a respiratory signal. Estimation of respiration rates from Photoplethysmographic (PPG) signals would be an alternative approach for obtaining respiration related information.. There have been several efforts on PPG Derived Respiration (PDR), these methods are based on different signal processing techniques like filtering, wavelets and other statistical methods, which work by extraction of respiratory trend embedded into various physiological signals. PCA identifies patterns in data, and expresses the data in such a way as to highlight their similarities and differences. Since patterns in data can be hard to find in data of high dimension, where the luxury of graphical representation is not available, PCA is a powerful tool for analyzing such data. Due to external stimuli, biomedical signals are in general non-linear and non-stationary. Empirical Mode Decomposition is ideally suited to extract essential components which are characteristic of the underlying biological or physiological processes. The basis functions, called Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) represent a complete set of locally orthogonal basis functions whose amplitude and frequency may vary over time. The contribution reviews the technique of EMD and related algorithms and discusses illustrative applications. Test results on PPG signals of the well known MIMIC database from Physiobank archive reveal that the proposed EMD method has efficiently extracted respiratory information from PPG signals. The evaluated similarity parameters in both time and frequency domains for original and estimated respiratory rates have shown the superiority of the method. NADI PARIKSHA: A NOVEL MACHINE LEARNING BASED WRIST PULSE ANALYSIS THROUGH PU...IAEME Publication
The Nadi pariksha technique, which dates to ancient Ayurveda, is a fabulous approach for detecting imbalances in the human body. The pulse, or Nadi (old term), is a vital movement of energy, or life, that moves through the delicate medium of the human body, allowing the physician to feel and understand the blood flow into and out of the heart. It is a traditional method for identifying physical, mental, and emotional imbalances in the body, as well as diseases. A technique for measuring the pressure in pulses like this is useful for disease detection. For any disease diagnosis, however, Nadi pariksha requires experts with vast experience and pulse reading skills. In this paper, an ultrasound microphone sensor is used to identify three Ayurveda doshas, namely, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, from a collected Nadi signal at a single place. Different statistical features are retrieved for each signal and categorized using the K-NN classifier to identify these three doshas. The proposed work has been tested and validated in a clinical setting with several patients, and we observed that this method results in a higher identification rate for all three doshas.

In this paper, we propose an efficient home-based system for monitoring chronic kidney disease (CKD). As non-invasive disease identification approaches are gaining popularity nowadays, the proposed system is designed to detect kidney disease from saliva samples. Salivary diagnosis has advanced its popularity over the last few years due to the non-invasive sample collection technique. The use of salivary components to monitor and detect kidney disease is investigated through an experimental investigation. We measured the amount of urea in the saliva sample to detect CKD. Further, this article explains the use of predictive analysis using machine learning techniques and data analytics in remote healthcare management. The proposed health monitoring system classified the samples with an accuracy of 97.1%. With internet facilities available everywhere, this methodology can offer better healthcare services, with real-time decision support in remote monitoring platform.

This research uses three different electrocardiograph (ECG) signals as indicators of a person's cardiac problems: Normal sinus rhythm (NSR), arrhythmia (ARR), and congestive heart failure (CHF). The continuous wavelet transform (CWT) provides the mechanism for classifying the 190 individual cases of ECG data into a 2-dimensional time-frequency representation. In this paper, the modified GoogLeNet is used for ECG data classification. Using a transfer learning approach and adjustments to parts of the output layers, ECG classification was conducted and the effectiveness of convolutional neural network (CNN) designs was tested. By comparing the results that the optimized neural network and GoogLeNet both had classification accuracy about of 80% and 100%, respectively. The GoogLeNet provide the best result in term of accuracy and training time.
WBSN based safe lifestyle: a case study of heartrate monitoring system IJECEIAES
A Heart is the vital organ of the body. According to the “world health statistics 2017” by WHO, about 460,000 people die due to fatal heart attacks every year. To reduce the death rate due to fatal heart attacks and malfunctioning of the cardiovascular system, this paper proposed a Wireless Body Sensor Network (WBSN) based, portable, easily affordable, miniatured, accurate “Heartrate Monitoring System (HMS)”. HMS can be used to regularly examine the cardiac condition at home or hospital to avoid or early detection of any serious condition. Heartrate Monitoring Algorithm (HMA) was designed to observe the spread heartbeat spectrum and worked at the backend of HMS. A case study was performed for forty healthy young subjects. Each subject data was computed for 푠푢푏 ̅̅̅̅̅ − 3푆 푑 < 푠푢푏 < 푠푢푏 ̅̅̅̅̅ + 3푆 . All subjects’ 99% data lie in the custom range. The result produced by HMS was the same as the previous medical record of subjects.
Human heart can be described as a compound body organ contains muscles together with
biological nerves. Human heart pumps nearly 5 litre of blood in the body providing the human body
with renewed material [6]. If operation of heart is not proper, it will affect the other body parts of
human such as brain, kidney etc. various study revealed that heart disease have emerged as the
number one killer in world. About 25 per cent of deaths in the age group of 25-69 years occur
because of heart disease. There are number of factors, which increase the risk of heart disease such
as smoking, cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity and low physical exercise etc. The World
Health Organisation (WHO) has estimated that 12 million deaths occur worldwide, every year due to
heart diseases. WHO estimated by 2030, almost 23.6 million people will die due to Heart
disease.Cardiovascular disease includes coronary heart disease (CHD), cerebrovascular disease
(stroke), Hypertensive heart disease, congenital heart disease, peripheral artery disease, rheumatic
heart disease, inflammatory heart disease [5].

Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
