This document presents a fuzzy logic controller for maximum power extraction from variable speed wind turbines. It proposes estimating the effective wind speed using three algorithms that solve power balance equations, since wind speed cannot be directly measured. The estimated wind speed is used to determine the optimal rotor speed reference for generator control. A fuzzy logic controller is designed using two inputs (error and change in error) and one output (control output change). Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed wind speed estimation and fuzzy control approaches in tracking the optimal rotor speed compared to PI control.
This paper reports on the design and implementation in DSP as hardware in the loop of a nonlinear control strategy for a grid-connected variable speed wind turbine using a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). The objective of this work is to build a real-time nonlinear hybrid approach combining Backstepping control and sliding mode control strategies for DFIG used in wind energy conversion systems (WECS). The results of the DSP implementation are discussed and qualitative and quantitative performance evaluations are performed under various disturbed conditions. The implementation is performed using the TMS320F28335 DSP combined with the MATLAB/Simulink (2016a) environment. The experimental results have been satisfactorily achieved, which implies that the proposed strategy is an efficient and robust approach to monitor the WECS.
This research proposes the control system structure for a small-scale wind turbine. Significantly, the maximum power point tracking algorithm (MPPT) and the pitch angle controller are deeply analyzed; this is the base for proposing the strategy of the MPPT algorithm combined with pitch-angle control in a wide speed range of wind. This article also researches the converters, then analyses the advantages of each converter to choose the suitable converter for the small-scale wind turbine. In the MPPT algorithm design, the expert experience takes advantage through the fuzzy controller. The pitch angle controller is built based on the PID controller with its parameters adjusted by Fuzzy logic. The results showed that the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is much better than that of the traditional control strategy. Moreover, in high and low wind speeds, the proposed control system operates reliably and stably.

The purpose of this research is to minimize the energy consumption of the DC motor with maintaining the performance using Hybrid Fuzzy-PID. The input of the Fuzzy system is the error and power of the system. Where error is correlated with matric Q and power is correlated with matric R. Therefore, adjusting the fuzzy rule on error and power is like adjust matrices Q and R in LQR method. The proposed algorithm can reduce energy consumption. However, system response is slightly decrease shown from ISE (Integral Square Error). The energy reduction average is up to 5.58% while the average of ISE increment is up to 1.89%. The more speed variation in the system, the more energy can be saved by the proposed algorithm. While in terms of settling time, the proposed algorithm has the longest time due to higher computation time in the fuzzy system. This performance can be increased by tuning fuzzy rules. This algorithm offers a solution for a complex system which difficult to be modeled.

Effcacious pitch angle control of variable-speed wind turbine using fuzzy bas...Kashif Mehmood
The Wind energy is more reliable and speedier growing, among the renewable energy resources, due to the world
environment challenges as well as increasing demand for energy. The wind turbine system’s stability is cumbersome due to the
uneven distribution of wind. Centrifugal and gravitational loads on the blades of a wind turbine creates weariness, resultantly
decreases the power output along with the life of the equipment. Therefore, the need for a pitch angle control that can reduce
the loading effect in addition to provide maximal power output. This paper proposes the fuzzy based model-predictive controller
of pitch angle control to minimize the loading effect on wind turbine by limiting power output and rotor speed to its rated
value as well as to maximize the extracted power output as compared to other techniques. The fuzzy logic controller works
very effciently by encountering the system’s non-linearity while model predictive controller helps the system to become more
stable and effcient. The superiority of prescribed controller is verifed by comparing it with PI controller. The proposed model
has been tested in MATLAB/Simulink using a 3MW wind turbine system.
The field of power systems operation and control including renewable energy (RE) along with power, quality is considered as one of the major technical challenges among the researchers and practicing engineers. Several types of renewable energy resources are available on earth such as solar, wind, Geo-thermal, hydro, etc. The foremost resources of renewable energy are - Sunlight and Wind. The wind energy is always a center of attraction for power engineers. In the wind energy system, the pitch angle of turbine blades is playing an important role in controlling the power output of the system. The pitch angle imposes two types of control on the wind turbine system: aerodynamic torque and the rotational velocity of the turbine system. These parameters directly affect the performance of the wind power generation system in terms of the profile of power, voltage, and current. Conventionally, PID control-based system modeling has been used to evaluate the optimal pitch angle for a given wind pattern. However, PID based Pitch Angle Identification require regular tuning against variation in wind velocity and significant large time for tuning. Thus, Artificial Intelligence could provide a better solution in comparison to PID Based tuning strategy. The present work shows the evaluation of the optimal pitch angle of the wind turbines for variable wind velocity using the Fuzzy Logic Control Strategy. The test results are obtained by MATLAB Simulink modeling of the wind power generation system. The simulation shows that fuzzy logic control will provide an optimal pitch angle to obtain more efficient solutions. The existing fuzzy control-based simulation model solutions can be utilized as a testbed for evaluating the optimal pitch Angle of any geographical region. In the present work, the optimal pitch angle of Various Geographical regions of India.

The PMDCM speed is controlled using rate feedback controller due to its ability of improving system damping. To improve the controller performance, it’s parameters are tuned using genetic algorithm (GA) and direct search (DS) techniques. The tuning process based on different performance criteria. The most four common performance criteria used in this paper are JIAE (Integral of Absolute Error), JISE (Integral of Square Error), JITAE (Integral of Time-Weighted Absolute Error), and JITSE (Integral of Time-Weighted Square Error). The results obtained from these evolutionary techniques are compared. The results show an obvious improvement in system performance including enhancing the transient and steady state of PMDCM speed responses for all performance criteria.
Optimal tuning of proportional integral controller for fixed-speed wind turb...IJECEIAES
The need for tuning the PI controller is to improve its performance metrics such as rise time, settling time and overshoot. This paper proposed the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) tuning method of a Proportional Integral (PI) controller for fixed speed Wind Turbine. The objective is to overcome the limitations in using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) tuning methods for tuning the PI controller, such as quick convergence occurring too soon into a local optimum, and overshoot of the controller step input response. The GWO, the PSO, and the GA tuning methods were implemented in the Matlab 2016b to search the optimal gains of the Proportional and Integral controller through minimization of the objective function. A comparison was made between the results obtained using the GWO tuning method against PSO and GA tuning techniques. The GWO computed the smallest value of the minimized objective function. It exhibited faster convergence and better time response specification compared to other two methods. These and more performance indicators show the superiority of the GWO tuning method.

Cuckoo search algorithm based for tunning both PI and FOPID controllers for ...IJECEIAES
Wind Energy has received great attention in this century. It influences the new power systems, adding new challenges to the power system expansion problem. Nowadays, double feed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbines are used majorly in wind farms, due to their advantages over other types. Therefore, the analysis of the system using this type has become very important. In this paper, a wind turbine modelling was introduced with suggested controllers, in order to enhance the system response, with respect to both pitch control and maximum output power. Cuckoo search algorithm (CSA), a meta-heuristic optimization technique, was implemented to determine the gains of a proportional-integral (PI) controller and fractional order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controller to optimize the system, which considered three control loops: pitch, rotor-side converter, and grid-side converter control loop. Simulation results were determined using MATLAB/Simulink. The comparative analysis of the results showed that the PI Controller gave the simplest and the best response in case of the pitch and rotor-side control loops while the FOPID was the best when applied to the grid-side control loop. Based on the results and discussion, a suggestion of using a compination of each controller was introduced.
This paper presents an enhanced nonlinear PID (NPID) controller to follow a preselected speed profile of brushless DC motor drive system. This objective should be achieved regardless the parameter variations, and external disturbances. The performance of enhanced NPID controller will be investigated by comparing it with linear PID control and fractional order PID (FOPID) control. These controllers are tested for both speed regulation and speed tracking. The optimal parameters values of each control technique were obtained using Genetic Algorithm (GA) based on a certain cost function. Results shows that the proposed NPID controller has better performance among other techniques (PID and FOPID controller).
Hybrid controller design using gain scheduling approach for compressor systemsIJECEIAES
The automatic control system plays a crucial role in industries for controlling the process operations. The automatic control system provides a safe and proper controlling mechanism to avoid environmental and quality problems. The control system controls pressure flow, mass flow, speed control, and other process metrics and solves robustness and stability issues. In this manuscript, The Hybrid controller approach like proportional integral (PI) and proportional derivative (PD) based fuzzy logic controller (FLC) using with and without gain scheduling approach is modeled for the compressor to improve the robustness and error response control mechanism. The PI/PD-based FLC system includes step input function, the PI/PD controller, FLC with a closed-loop mechanism, and gain scheduler. The error signals and control response outputs are analyzed in detail for PI/PD-based FLC’s and compared with conventional PD/PID controllers. The PD-based FLC with the Gain scheduling approach consumes less overshoot time of 74% than the PD-based FLC without gain scheduling approach. The PD-based FLC with the gain scheduling approach produces less error response in terms of 7.9% in integral time absolute error (ITAE), 7.4% in integral absolute error (IAE), and 16% in integral square error (ISE) than PD based FLC without gain scheduling approach.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
