This document summarizes a simulation of a 64-channel DWDM system over 140km using either EDFA or Raman amplification. Key findings include:
1) The system using Raman amplification achieved a maximum gain of 12.36dB, while the system using EDFA had a higher maximum gain of 13.01dB but it decreased to 5dB in the S-band region.
2) Raman amplifier networks were found to be less prone to crosstalk and intersymbol interference compared to EDFA networks.
3) Simulation results showed higher Q-factors and lower noise figures for the system using Raman amplification compared to the one using EDFA over most of the C-band region.
