Invent a festival: This groupwork activity gives students a nice experience of
inventing some new festivals whose topics are quite close to their life.

Difficulty level: Medium
Materials needed: Worksheets
Time: 10 – 15 mins
Procedure:
1. Briefly chat with students whether they enjoy participating in festivals or not and
ask them why.
2. Also tell them that they are have been given an opportunity to invent new
festivals.
3. Put them into groups of four and give them the worksheet (one for each).
4. Now ask them to discuss and agree on what to complete in the table. Encourage
them to make their festivals as fascinating as possible.
5. Go round the class to provide them with help
6. When the groups have finished, ask them to present their ideas to the class.
Invite other groups to comments and ask questions.
7. When all groups have presented theirs, ask the class to vote for the most
wonderful festival for each topic (Facebook, English, Hair, Ice cream,
Conversation, Paper)
8. Announce the winners and close the activity.
