Arguementative Essay
Crafting an argumentative essay can be a challenging endeavor that demands a considerable
amount of time, effort, and intellectual engagement. The difficulty lies not only in the
articulation of your thoughts but also in the meticulous construction of a compelling argument.
The process involves extensive research to gather relevant evidence and supporting data, critical
analysis of opposing viewpoints, and the thoughtful integration of these elements into a cohesive
narrative.
The writer must navigate through the intricacies of formulating a thesis statement that succinctly
captures the essence of their argument, and then proceed to build a coherent structure around it.
This entails organizing ideas logically, ensuring a smooth flow of thought, and maintaining a
persuasive tone throughout the essay. The challenge is not only to present one's perspective but
also to anticipate and counter potential objections effectively.
Moreover, the ability to synthesize information from various sources, cite references
appropriately, and adhere to a specific citation style further adds to the complexity. Striking the
right balance between being assertive and respectful, persuasive yet objective, can be a delicate
task. The writer must be vigilant about avoiding fallacies, ensuring the accuracy of information,
and upholding the ethical standards of academic writing.
In essence, writing an argumentative essay requires a combination of analytical skills, research
acumen, and eloquent expression. It is a process that demands dedication, critical thinking, and a
commitment to presenting a well-founded perspective. While the difficulty may vary for
individuals based on their familiarity with the topic and writing proficiency, the overall challenge
lies in navigating the nuanced landscape of argumentation to deliver a compelling and
convincing essay.

Implementing A Project Management Methodology
The use of structured methodologies in IT Project management is increasingly
recognised as one of the fundamental drivers in reducing the likelihood of incomplete
and costly IT project failures. The need for a systematic approach has been
highlighted through a number of survey results on the failure of IT Projects. These
results demonstrate that the significant issues associated with failed projects include
the lack of; a defined project organisation, policy and procedures, implementation
plans and integrated methods (Taylor 2003). It is apparent that these recognised
issues can be significantly reduced through the implementation of standard project
managementmethodologies. Lind and Culler (2013) completed research of 116 firms

Standardised project management provides consistency across the organisation.
Roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and each individual on the team is
aware of their expectations.
Projects that are not working or no longer meet the business case are quickly
identified, thus allowing for early intervention.
Greater accountability and performance for project teams.
(McHugh MairГ©ad 2006)
The following case studies have been implemented using the PRINCE2 methodology
and demonstrate how a structured methodology for IT Project Management can
facilitate successful project outcomes.
Example 1: Raise your glasses the water s magic! Strategic IT at SA Water: a case
study in alignment, outsourcing and governance (Thorogood et al. 2004)
South Australian Water (SA Water) is responsible for the supply of the majority of
South Australia s water. Prior to 1999, SA Water had a record of IT
underperformance and a reputation not completing IT projects. In 1999, a new CIO
was appointed to improve the dire IT situation. Changes were made and immediately
a new project management methodology was adopted: PRINCE2. As a result, clear
structures began to be implemented. Both internal and external project managers
were required to have training in PRINCE2.
The Waterscope project was selected to be a showcase PRINCE2 project in May
2001. The goal of the project was to provide timely information on water quality
needed to manage
Heaney Blackberry-Picking
The childlike indulgence of blackberry picking has the key to understanding
adversity. In Blackberry Pickings , a twentieth century poem by Seamus Heaney,
the author conveys a deeper understanding of blackberry pickings by using similes
and imagery to compare blackberry pickings to human suffering. Heaney s use of
imagery reveals the deeper meaning of the poem by creating a comparison between
blackberries and humans. Humans have diverse characteristics like blackberries. We
are a glossy purple clot/ among others, red, green, hard as a knot (3 4). Before
suffering occurs, Heaney says humans are different but one thing remains a common
attribute: their flesh was sweet (5). Humans without suffering in their lives grow and
develop into pleasant individuals. The author s imagery portrays the juicy sweetness
of blackberries as a positive quality that humans can own. After humans pick
blueberries, they change. The sweet flesh would turn sour (21). When suffering
harvests humans, they also change. The deeper meaning of human suffering
uncovers itself as our hands were peppered/ with thorn pricks, our palms sticky as
Bluebeard s (15 16). After an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first simile, humans maintain a higher standard like thickened wine (6).
Wine represents what the people of higher class indulge themselves in. The people
who drink wine usually do not suffer and enjoy life. When a person s status burns
down as a result of suffering, the once sweet blackberries develop into big dark
blobs burned/ like a plate of eyes (14 15). The simile the author uses indicates the
guilt the eyes inflict on the cause of human suffering. The fine wine deteriorates to a
plate of revolting eyes after Seamus Heaney s smile s comparison between
blackberries and human suffering.. After the author s similes, the deeper meaning of
human suffering becomes

Which Instructional Design Model That I Will Use

Which Instructional Design Model
The design model that I will use is multiple intelligences. The major goal of this
theory is to foster understanding in ways that takes advantage of the different
learners intelligences. All learners do not learn information the same way, and
instructors need to understand that they must be diverse in their teaching to ensure
that learners are able to be engaged with topics that they are teaching.
Assumptions about Multiple Intelligences
With multiple intelligence, students come to school with different educational needs.
Not all students learn the same way so as an educator, one needs to be able to teach
multiple ways on a single topic to ensure that all students have been engaged. There
are multiple ways to teach a single topic, however, Gardner focused on three
approaches:
1.Entry points
2.Telling Analogies
3.Approaching the core (Reigeluth, 2013).
Entry points
To engage students in understating a topic, there are 6 entry points to consider in
multiple intelligences (Reigeluth, 2013). Not all learners are the same and as an
instructor is good to individualize your lessons to tap into students in different ways
because not all learn the same way. The following are the entry points that Howard
Gardner states, however, he states that the model that he uses is not to be considered
as a learning style (Reigeluth, 2013).
Narratives is an entry point used for students who enjoy hearing topics discuss

The Importance Of Social Entrepreneurship
Social Entrepreneurship Despite the tremendous strides in the quality of life that
humankind has made in the past two centuries, many persistent problems remain
and new ones have emerged (Dees 1). To this day we still face poverty, preventable
diseases are still killing the poor, the quality of education is not where it should be,
human trafficking and slavery is very much alive, violence continues in many
countries throughout the world, and even more alarming is the fact that the earth
is warming whether we want to believe it or not, regardless of the cause. We may
not all agree on our visions for an ideal world, but we can generally agree that the
gap between reality and our notions of the ideal is still enormous (Dees 1). A
potential strategy for improvement is to have our Social Entrepreneurs who care
about the well being of the people in this world and its future, to create scalable and
sustainable impact where the governmentand other efforts have been ineffective.
Social Entrepreneurs, operating outside of the constraints of government,
significantly enhance our ability to find and implement effective solutions to social
issues. The focus on government as the social problem solver lead to some
noticeable successes, such as increased access to education and health care for many,
consequently the experience also revealed the limits of government as the vehicle
for social problem solving (Dees 2) It is clear that top down governmental programs

Technology Of The Internet Of Things
Abstract Due to the vulnerable nature of the Internet of Things (IOT) the security and
privacy are those important issues for the IOT which attracted lots of focus in recent
years. The lack of efficient and lightweight authentication method in IOT can make it
a delicious vulnerable victim for several impersonate based attacks. This paper
proposes a new authentication mechanism for IOT called Certificate based Identity
Resolution (CIR) which tries to protect IOT terminal nodes from attacks by applying
a lightweight identity resolution method and using a Local Certificate Generator in
order to simplify the node authentication process. Keywords Internet Of Things;
Certificate based Identity Resolution; Authentication; Access control I. Introduction
In the last few years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has been widespread like a boom
word, where virtually any device having an Internet connection can be communicated
and is accessible through the Internet. By making a secure user interactions with IoT
is very important for making the notion of things everywhere to be successful. Many
researchers are focusing on developing and improving the implementation and
security of IoT based devices. Two of the major aspects for enabling the security of
IoT are Authentication and Access Control to perform secure communication
between devices. In this paper we will present a novel local authentication process
which will enhance the simplicity of node authentication, keeping it safe from
Canonical Angst in Young Adolescent Literature by Elysia...
Young adult literature is a blooming literary category. This newly discovered
territory is ever developing. Elysia Liang, author of Canonical Angst in Young
Adolescent Literature, insists, The notion of adolescence as a stepping stone
between childhood and adulthood is recent (2). She associates this with a direct
change in childhood development, stating, Before the 20th century, the marker of
adulthood was entrance into the work force. With children as young as 10 holding
jobs to help support their families, few entertained the existence of an in between
stage of development (2). Before the explosive growth of YA, adolescents were
subject to read either children s books or Adult Books for Young People (3). To
truly understand the growth of the young adult category, one must look at the
figures. In 1997, 3,000 books were published that fit the YA category, according to
R.R. Bowker s Publishers Weekly. In 2009, that number jumped to well over 30,000.
I believe the growing force behind this category derives from the themes and
characteristics echoed throughout many YA texts. The themes encompassed in YA
lit, and there are many, feed the readers appetite.
Characters Voice
Adults are seldom the main character of a YA novel
; instead, the protagonist is, more
often than not, of youth. This makes sense. An older person has experience and
knowledge that is lacked by an adolescent. If the main character is older in age, his
or her opinion, no matter how
Pacific Lamprey Essay
The Pacific Lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus) is an anadromous species that is
found along the west coast of North America, primarily along the coast of
Washington, Oregon, and northern California. E. tridentatus is a semelparous
species that can live up to five years and can spend up to three and a half years in
saltwater. They begin metamorphosis in July and the known period of entry into salt
water is from December until June. In the ocean E. tridentatus have been documented
to primarily feed on Pacific Salmonspecies such as Chinook (Oncorhynchus
tshawytscha), Coho (Oncorhynchus kisutch), Sockeye (Oncorhynchus nerka), and
Pink (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha). O. tshawytscha have endured most lamprey attacks
because researchers believe that E. tridentatus attack this salmon when it is making
the transition to swim back up stream to spawn. E. tridentatus who do not represent
an anadromous life style also prey heavily on resident salmonid species. Salmonid
species have an important role in the diet and life history of E. tridentatus as they are

tridentatus is known as an opportunistic predator as it tries to exert as little energy
as possible in order to obtain an easy meal. However, we do not know for sure if E.
tridentatus preferred salmonid of choice is in fact O. tshawytscha. Observations from
past studies have shown that O. tshawytscha is preyed upon more than other fish
species. When it is compared against another salmonid species, such as a O. kisutch,
there is slight difference between them due to availability and environmental
conditions that might prevent E. tridentatus to prey upon certain species. The
question remains if E. tridentatus was placed inside a control environment with
several salmonid species that all have an equal chance of predation, would it still
prefer a certain species or would it still exhibit an opportunistic feeding

A Brief Note On The Race Bias Theory
Psychology assessment 2 due Friday 6th February 2015 Ahmed Ali 14033164
Abstract
Own race bias is the temperament to distinguish and individualise between the face
of our own race more easily than faces of another race. The present study examined
weather or not own race bias exists within our communities. The standard deviation
(SD) for the number of black faces recalled for group 2 is 1.82574 and the SD of
faces recalled from group 4 is 1.94936. The SD of white faces recalled for group 1 is
1.09545 and the SD number of faces recalled for group 3 is 1.30384 these results
show own race bias was indeed present amongst these 20 youths.
Introduction
The own race bias theory is the temperament to distinguish and individualize
between the face of one s race more easily than faces of another race. This theory
can explain why you may hear people saying another ethnic or racial group all look
alike . Own race bias causes problems when it comes to eye witness testimony and
is one of the main reasons I will be conducting this experiment. When the victim and
suspect are from different racial or ethnic backgrounds it is likely that the victim will
be less accurate in pointing out the culprit. For example picking a criminal out in an
id parade (line up of criminals). There are many different potential explanations on
ORB varying from intergroup contact theory to neural substrates of ORB. Another
very interesting potential explanation in ORB is that we developed the habit of ORB
The Importance of Animals and Symbolism in Ancient...
The Ancient Egyptians are known for many of the incredible aspects of their culture
and everything they have made. Some of the well known ancient Egyptian relics are
the ones like the ancient pyramids, the Great Sphinx of Giza, mummies, and their
many forms of art. Ancient Egyptian art, most commonly the paintings, are one of the
most recognized styles of art. Not only is Egyptian art beautiful, but it carries a huge
deal of value and significance with it. A great portion of the time, the art has some
kind of religious meaning to it. Consequently it is very difficult to discuss the art
itself without delving into the various gods and goddesses presented in it. Something
that particularly struck me about Ancient Egyptian art was their... Show more content

The proportion of some objects to one another is inaccurate, seeing as the Ancient
Egyptians would size things based on importance. Things that were less important
were illustrated as smaller, and things that were more substantial were made
bigger. The art expresses unity and repetition, because the colors are alike
throughout, and the human figures are very similar to each other. The paintings
are incredibly unoriginal, as they are all made to look the same. More often than
not, they are seen paired with hieroglyphics. Typically, the Ancient Egyptians
painted scenes of daily life, burial rituals and scenes from the afterlife, as well as
scenes depicting fundamental events and often show one or more of their 114
gods and goddesses. The Ancient Egyptians used color for much more than
aesthetical purposes. Not only do they employ color to enhance the artwork in
appearance, but they would often use color for symbolic reasons. When looking at
the artworks which used paint, such as the paintings and carvings, it is obvious that
the Ancient Egyptians did not use many colors. They used about 6 colors, and the
same colors were used for a range of different objects in the artworks, sometimes
with minor changes. For instance, male figures in the art were depicted with darker
skin than the female figures. To the Ancient Egyptians, color was a way to symbolize
the importance of a figure, and
The Pros And Cons Of Labor Unions
Labor Unions could be defined as an organized association of workers, often in a
trade or profaession, formed to protect and further their rights and interests. In the
arcticle, Why the Labor Unions were Given a Bloody Nose in Canton, Mississippi,
Richard A. Epstein explains the main claim, or statement, made in this article was
that the UAW hoped for success in Canton, but the results were not in the UAW s
favor. This author took a stance on the UAW s side. Epstein further explained what
would ve happened if the UAW would have won the vote. In the article, Tesla denies
claims that tried to block unionizing effort, by Dee Ann Durbin, the author explains
that Tesla security guards allegedly refused to let off duty employees hand out
leaflets about the United Auto Workersunion near the doors of the company s
factory. In this article, Dee Ann Durbin was neutral. The argument that could be
made from this article is would be does Tesla need a labor union? The employees
also stated that a supervisor threatened to fire employees who passed out stickers,
leaflets or other material not approved by Tesla. The UAW can affect Tesla in
numerous ways, such as by protecting the employees, defending their rights, and
allowing them to receive the respect they deserve. Tesla employees need protection
because they might get fired for promoting change within the company. The
management of the company stated that workers have tried to leave work when their
shift was over, but the upper
John Winthrop A Model Of Christian Charity Analysis
In 1630, Puritan leader John Winthrop delivered perhaps the most famous sermon
in American history entitled A Model of Christian Charity, in which he stressed to
his fellow Puritans to adopt a sense of unity by setting aside self interest for the
sake of the community (Cohen, 2). Winthrop s idea of putting community first has
played a major role in American history, but as Winthrop probably knew would
happen, his idea of unity has always been at odds with those of self interest; as
America is very much a history of these competing forces. The forces of those
willing to put aside their own interest for unity, the common good, and for the
preservation of the Union vs. those who have pursued their own selfish ways. This
paper will offer insights into how Winthrop s remarks have played out during the
first half of American history by examining certain individuals and events that have
followed along with Winthrop s idea, or those who have posed a challenge to it.
Twenty three years before Winthrop gave his sermon conflict over self interest vs.
the common good was being played out in Jamestown. Jamestown had been
established in 1607 as a purely economic venture as Englishmen traveled to the New
World in pursuit of riches, following in the footsteps of the Spanish. These men were
consumed with their own self interest of finding gold and becoming rich as opposed
to working for the betterment of the colony, causing Jamestown to teeter on the edge
of extinction for nearly a

Upon excavating the occupant s room, it appears as though this was small living

structure, with multiple identical chambers for each individual residing there. While
all the infrastructure is identical, each room varies according to its occupant.
Through typology, the complex was dated to approximately the early twenty first
century. According to the findings of room D and their relationships to one another,
it is hypothesized that the occupant of this particular complex lived in a community
setting and has ties to various popular eras that are scattered across time, which
expresses a complex belief system. The first item of interest was the presence of...

Upon further investigation, it became clear that these were in fact vinyl records.
Oddly enough, vinyl records were first developed in 1930, and were most popular
in the mid twentieth century, approximately between the 1950s and 1980s.
Clearly, this predates the culture of the occupant living here (Records Collector
Guild 2014:WEB). According to comparisons among the other complexes, this
was the digital age in which most people used electronic devices to listen to music.
However, according to the Record Collectors Guild, even though the main reliance
for musical entertainment was digital media and smaller, compacted discs, the
vinyl record was still in production and used by a small number of the population in
the early twenty first century (CITE). Inspection of the casings of the records
revealed that the majority of the records were released in the twenty first century,
with a few exceptions that were obviously older by comparison and dated back to
the twentieth century. The records with dates from the twenty first century actually
provide a more precise date for this site. The most recent date of anything in the
room was found on a record casing, and dates in the year 2017. The general
assumption is that the occupant had these records as a collection, or maybe that they
were passed down from previous generations. Clearly, these were used
The Origins Of Sandwich Panels

construction in 19th century, the sandwich construction is relatively new concept

technology in sandwich construction is driven by special demand of the shell of
spacecraft or aircraft, which is light in weight yet strong enough to sustain huge air

Stocks and Bonds
In the financial markets, the most common forms of marketable securities are stocks
and bonds. Though they have some similarities to each other, they differ greatly in
many aspects. Broadly speaking, both financial instruments enable one to invest in
corporations, public and/or private, with possible profitable returns in the future.
Stocks (or shares), by definition, are shares of ownership in a company. By
purchasing stocks in a company, the investor becomes a part owner, and thereby
owns a percentage share of the company s after tax profits. Stocks/shares have two
key characteristics: 1) they can be issued in small denominations: an investor can
purchase as many or as few shares in a company as he/ she wants, thereby becoming a

Stocks were rising on expectations of economic recovery later in the year, and bond
prices fell as their yields increased (bond prices and yields are inversely related).
The yield on the 2 year notes and 10 year notes, which are heavily influenced by the
Fed regulated interest rates and inflation expectations, respectively, increased from
.76% to 1.4% and 2.25% to 3.93 during the same period, respectively. Concurrently,
the S P 500 had gained 4.8%, rebounding 40% from March lows.
Though stocks have statistically delivered higher returns in the long term compared
to bonds, bond prices are less volatile. The dividends paid out on stocks are
uncertain and depend on the distributable profits of the company, the company s
investment plans and cash needs for the same, and other such factors. On the other
hand, bonds generally make a pre specified interest payout to all bondholders
periodically, thereby ensuring an assured, known cash inflow in the hands of a bond
holder. Further, on maturity of the bond, a pre determined principal amount is paid
out by the issuer to the bondholder, to purchase back the bond. Hence, a bondholder
who holds the bond to maturity, knows exactly how much he /she will receive both
by way of interest as well as principal on maturity. This is completely untrue for
stocks, where neither the dividend flow nor the capital appreciation is predictable
with certainty.
Bonds are therefore relatively safer
Jimmy Porter s Role In Look Back In Anger, By John

JIMMY S PERSONALITY
The novel Look Back in Anger was written by John Osborne, who was one of the
playwrights in the Angry Young Men movement. John Osborne, born in 1929 in a
middle class family, lived in a place he dubbed a cultural wasteland , had an
execrable relationship with women and was one of those scholarship boys in white
tile universities. The Angry Young Menwas a literary movement of the 1950 s whose
fundamental purpose was to express their emotions mainly anger and protest against
social stratification in a very repressed and conservative Britain. The character of
Jimmy Porter is an excellent example of an Angry Young Man and very similar to the
author.

Italian Immigrants Essay
Italian immigrants were not welcomed with open arms into the land of opportunity.
They had to adapt to the new lifestyle without forgetting theirs. Throughout the years,
American citizens would be accustomed to having foreigners living in their
neighborhoods. The Italian immigrants established communities where they managed
to keep la via vecchia alive.
The American population viewed the Italian immigrants as an inferior race. People
who made rude comments about Italians specifically directed it to them and made
sure they knew. They still regard Italian Americans as racially inferior dagos ,
wops, guineas, and greasers. 1 Like most immigrants that migrated to the Land of
Liberty at the time, Italian immigrants were seen as foreigners to those that were
born and raised in America. Particularly, Italian immigrants were placed at the
lowest level of the economy and social class. The American population viewed them
as uneducated people who were destined to be laborers. There were people that
despise the idea of immigrants coming to the United States and there is no space for
them. America for Americans should be the motto of every citizen. 2 They were not
needed because they were unskilled and uneducated. Thus, the American population
never sought to treat foreigners with respect. First, second, and third generations had
to live with discrimination and horrible working and living conditions. Most Italian

The phrase the west and the rest is often discussed in regards to how westernization
perhaps influences and even trumps other cultures. Westernization is defined as a
cause (a country, person, or system) to adopt or be influenced by the cultural,
economic, or political systems of Europe and North America or to be in the process
of adopting or being influenced by the systems of the West (New Oxford American
Dictionary). This implies that it is frequent that other cultures are exposed to Western
cultures and then adopt the customs to be their own, and indeed this has occurred in
several Eastern countries. Another concept that is discussed often is globalization,
which is defined as the process by which businesses or other... Show more content on

Architecture changed as well, notably figures such as Katayama Tokuma who
created the Akasaka Detached Palace in Tokyo, which was inspired by the Palace of
Versailles. The palace abandoned traditional Japanese style materials and dГ©cor,
since the Meiji period was focused on adopting new materials and styles. Gradually,
there was return to the blending of Japanese and Western styles in the 1800s. Painting
was also affected by Westernization, particularly the introduction of oil painting by
Charles Wirgman. Over the course of the 1800s, several art schools were formed in
Japan that focused on teaching Western style techniques, for example Hakuba Kai.
Ultimately, Japanese artists wholeheartedly plunged into European ways. Painters
adopted oil and canvas, a mode totally foreign to their tradition. Nude oil paintings
appeared, together with the old standby the still life study (La Plante 265).
Westernization brought about the yЕЌshoku, which translates into western food. This
was developed again during the Meiji era, and includes foods such as katsu, beefsteak,
and omurice. Notably, these foods all appear quite Western in style but still retain
certain Japanese qualities, such as presentation and technique. Finally, fashion was
quite influenced by Western culture. At first interaction, Japanese ladies...took to hoop
skirts and gentlemen to hats and tails (La Plante 263). Additionally, the seifuku, or
Japanese school uniform, was heavily

These games all looked amazing. I was especially impressed by the level of detail
in Killzone, where even unimportant characters looked and moved very
realistically. We also saw demos of new game engines (systems for the creation
and development of video games) for PlayStation 4 and I was blown away. One
demo simply showed the face of an old man in various lighting conditions and with
different facial expressions, impressively depicting the level of detail and emotion
that game characters can now convey. Cloud gaming and digital gaming also
seems to be a strong focus for the PS4. Sony is aiming to make many games from
previous and current console generations available digitally, living up to the
tagline everything everywhere . The PlayStation 4 event was just enough of a
tease to keep me salivating for more. No price information is available yet, but we
at least have an idea of Sony s approach to the next generation of gaming. It will be
interesting to see how this stacks up against the Wii U and the next version of the

enabled significant advancements in the study of management and organisations.
This orientation, now referred to as the contingency approach, emphasises the
importance of situational influences on the management of organisations and... Show

These foundation concepts are described briefly in the next section, and are followed
by a discussion of current perspectives on the contingency approach. Theoretical
Foundations The open systems perspective views the complex organisation as a set
of interdependent parts that, together, constitute a whole which, in tum, is
interdependent with some larger environment. The interactive nature of the elements
within the organisation and between the oi:ganisation and the environment result in
at least two open system characteristics that are central to the contingency approach:
adaptation and equifinality. First, the principle of adaptation asserts that the
elements within the system adapt to one another to preserve the basic character of
the system. Second, the principle of equifinality holds that a system can reach the
same final state from differing initial conditions The and by a variety of paths.
Contingency The Simon March Cyert stream of work adds to the open systems
perspective Approach the view that organisations are problem facing and problem
solving entities. The organisation develops processes for searching, learning and
deciding processes that attempt to achieve a satisfactory level of performance under
norms of bounded rationality. Organisational decision makers undertake rational

Discussion Board Of Oral Digestion
I chose the oral cavity to describe for this discussion board. The oral cavity ingests,
chews, and swallows the food so that it may enter our bodies. The oral cavity is the
place where digestion begins. Before it goes anywhere in the body it has to enter
our mouths first so that it may be mechanically broken down with the help of our
teeth and saliva. Saliva contains digestive enzymes that help break down the food
particles so that it s easier for us to swallow. Hanging at the back of the throat is the
uvula which is there to serve for more than one purpose. The first purpose being it
has a role in speech production, and the second one being the gag reflex. The reflex is
stimulated when food enters the throat without swallowing. This prevents
Last Day Of High School
The last day of my Early College High School (ECHS) 2017 year, was a day I will
never forget. On the last day of school, I got to drive my dad s truck; I remember
telling myself I can t wait until I get my own car, which is something I asked for
on my Christmas list to Santa. I went to classes ready to get my last final over
with. The day went by pretty fast after the test, then we went to lunch and then we
had clubs. Since my club was not allowed to go to the gym, I stayed inside with the
Medical club. In the medical club, Cody gave a long presentation on the different
Affordable Care Acts (ACA) proposal, and we got into a debate which got me ready
for the break even more.
At the beginning of the break, I was excited to be out of school, I had made so
many plans. I made plans to go to Austin and go to the spray paint park, and travel
to Louisiana to celebrate my niece s first birthday, but all of my plans were ruined.
For the first week of my break, I was sick. I winded up catching both the flu and
strep throat, I thought my Christmas break would be ruined, but it wasn t. During the
time that I was sick, I got to plan which Christmas gifts to get my family members
instead of waiting until the last moment, and everyone winded up loving their gifts.
Due to the fact of me being sick, I couldn t go anywhere; which meant no chores, no
being told to get out the house; I actually had time to relax. While relaxing I caught
on my Netflix shows and my sleep.

On November 18, 1928 Walt Disney released an 8 minute animated cartoon called
Steamboat Willie which starred the iconic Mickey Mouse. The cartoon starts off with
Mickey Mouse piloting a river steamboat while whistling Steamboat Bill which
became a very popular song after the cartoon aired. Then, Pete is introduced as the
real captain of the boat and pushes Mickey off the wheel. Disney was having
trouble with finding the right character people would enjoy to watch but the trouble
was gone after he released the cartoon. The name Mickey Mouse actually came from

Wilfred Jackson s mom, who taught music, suggested the use of a metronome. He
then created a chart he called a bar sheet or exposure sheet, which had out the
sound effects and music to go along to the animation. Walt then had to test his
theories, he decided to make a test scene so he set up a projector outside a window
in his studio. Behind the bed sheet screen were the artists watching the cartoon
through the sheet and playing the simple sound effects, synchronized with what
they were seeing. The audience was the staff s wives and the feedback was great.
This was a major event in the 1900s because it changed the way producers made
cartoons. The music was arranged by Wilfred Jackson and Bert Lewis, the cartoon
had a really popular song named, Steamboat Bill and it was composed by baritone
Arthur Collins. The cartoon was such a hit that later in 1935 it was released in
color and along the way Disney started to introduce the characters, Minnie Mouse,
Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. Therefore, merchandising started to rise. One of
the best sellers was the Mickey Mouse book which had sold 2.4 million copies. There

The Australian Dollar Crisis
The setting of the exchange rate in Australia has shifted over time, from a pegged
fixed rate in 1976, to a managed flexible rate and finally in December of 1983
moved to a floating exchange rate whereby the value of the Australian dollar was
set by the market forces of demand and supply. The exchange rate is simply the
price of Australia s currency expressed in terms of another country s currency. This
essay will outline the ways in which initially a fixed rate and flexible peg were
determined, aswell as the impacts of domestic and international influences on the
value of the floated dollar.

We observe appreciation within the Australian rate of exchange once an increase in
commodity prices occurs and an improvement in Australia s terms of trade. In 2008,
we observed commodity value indexes collapse, leading in successively to sharp
decreases within the Australian dollar. As commodity costs have surged once more,
this has caused farther appreciation of the Australian dollar. Lower inflation in
Australia is another catalyst for appreciation of the currency. Over the years, an
accrued demand for Australia s exported product and services has been indicative of
Appreciation. As a significant exporter of natural products, Australia s terms of trade
and future (long term) export performance are powerfully influenced by the costs of
these products. With these costs currently over thrice their value held at the
beginning of the resources boom in 2003, this has provoked speculative investment
within the Australian dollar. When there are expectations prevalent, that the currency
will appreciate based on speculation of the other changes in the domestic and global
economy, we are sure to see this causing an actual appreciation in the Australian
currency. Additionally Depreciation can be a consequence of a decrease in Australian
interest rates or increase in overseas interest rates. Depreciation will occur when there
is deterioration in investment opportunities in Australia or

of producing food that is unreasonably unsafe, and lacking to inform customers on the

There is a rising level of obesity in the world today and the cause is found in the way
our food is being grown, processed and packaged (Brownell, 2009). Fast food industry
should adapt the marketing and the tactics in lobbying that are used by the tobacco
industries. The tobacco industry used legal, political and business strategies tactic

The public should be informed about the link that exists between various fast food

Just like tobacco is addictive fast foods can also cause an addiction especially to
people who dislike cooking at home or mostly live alone in their homes. The industry
should embrace regulations since a great concern has been raised about fast food and
how they are advertising their products and selling unhealthy food to

Stop Head On Head Collision; Stop Trauma
In June of 2012 over 2,000 retired NFL players filed a lawsuit against the NFL on
the terms of blurring the science of brain trauma (Foster). The retired athletes sued
the association due to complications they began to suffer from repetitive head on
head collisions in their practices and games that led to brain trauma. In response to
the lawsuit, the NFL manipulated its rules but athletes are still at a risk of severe
TBIs, or traumatic brain injuries, every time they step on the field. The NFL needs to
enforce stricter fouls for head on head collisions, more preventative equipment,
improved coaching techniques for tackles, and educational head injury courses in

Placebo Use For Pain Management
Abstract
Placebo use in place of effective pain medication to manage pain was widely spread,
until the first half of the 20th century when physicians recognized that the use of
placebo is ineffective, harmful, and unethical. This formed a real threat for the
professionals and become one of the most controversial issues in the last century. This
paper set a statement and rationale for eliminate the use of placebo according to the
available scientific and ethical literatures on the controversial subject of the use of
placebo in pain management.
Placebo use in pain management
1.Introduction Pain is a significant public health problem impacting millions of
people s worldwide. It s a distressing feeling affects multidimensional aspect of life;
physical, social, spiritual and emotional. Pain is considered a complex phenomena
and the most subjective experience. Mostly health care providers are unable to
precisely determine the intensity of a patient s pain; since that there is no any test
or physical finding for pain. For these reasons, assessments of pain should be based
when possible, on the patient s self report, and the health care providers should not
underestimated the patient complaint of pain, and try to manage pain in a proper
professional way. However placebo use in place of effective pain medication to
manage pain is a controversial issue which has been greatly recognized as unethical,
ineffective, and harmful. (Zalon, Constantino, Andrews, 2008)
Psychodynamic Model Of Mental Health Essay
The major models of mental health includes the disease model, the psychodynamic
model, the cognitive model, the social model and the behavioural model.
The disease model suggests that mental ill health arises from biochemical and genetic
causes. It relies on the evidence of genetic and pharmaceutical studies to support this
position.Evidence from twin studies suggest that there is a link between genetics and
schizophrenia. However, while certain aspects of mental ill health appears to be
hereditary, it has not yet been determined whether the cause is genetic or
environmental. Specific genes have not yet been found to be associated with
schizophrenia. There is some debate as to whether the cause is genetic or

The service is a passive patient under this model.
The psychodynamic model focuses on the individual s development to explain mental
health difficulties. Psychodynamic therapies developed from Sigmund Freud s work
in which he proposed several stages of developed and suggested that if these stages
were interrupted the individual would have problems functioning or relating to
people. The individual s maladaptive behaviour would depend on which stage was
interrupted.
There are several branches of modern psychodynamic therapies. Many branches rely
on reflective relationships between the client and therapist. The therapist helps the
client to examine how they relate to the therapist, encourages a more positive way of
relating and the client is supposed to expand on this new way of relating with others.
A major criticism of this model is that it very difficult to measure the effectiveness of
the therapy.
Different therapists have different approaches and therapy can take years. It is often
compared to
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which often includes service users tracking their
feelings and progress. Another issue is the unscientific way in which psychodynamic
theories were

Richard Nixon s Legacy At 9pm on the evening of August 8, 1974, Nixon delivered

remarks to the White House staff before sending his resignation letter to the

his name brings back the memories of conspiracies and the memorable moments
during his presidency. Especially on June 17, 1972, the day that led to his resignation
in the first place. This event was later called the Watergate scandal. With a deep
investigation, witnesses, and many connections to the Committee to Re elect the
President, Nixon found himself in some hot water (pun intended). This incident did
not only affect America during his serving in office, it became an incurable illness

Discuss the Role of the Supernatural in the Aeneid
Discuss the role of the supernatural in Aeneid 3
In ancient poetry, gods were people too; early epic was history but a history adorned
by myth. This fantastical, mythical element came via the gods, envisaged as
anthropomorphic deities. In Virgil s Aeneid these gods function in epic as literary
vehicles and as characters no less detailed and individual than the people in the poem.
In this world where the mortal and the supernatural not only coexist but interweave
with one another, the Aeneid follows the mortal Trojans as their world moves from
war to peace and as they attempt, often unsuccessfully, to overcome the supernatural
obstacles put in their path.

contradictory discourses simultaneously (Buscombe 87). In order to accomplish the
task of revising the context, Eastwood first showcases the stereotype; then later
debunks it though his denouncements; only to repeat this process all over again. An
ode has a sentimental, nostalgic quality that holds onto the past. However, the
analysis in the following paragraph shows how the film sets up two modalities in
which past actions can have upon the future. During, the Schofield Kid Meets

Communicating To Investors
Communication Hierarchy Among Investors, Employees and Customers Move your
headings flush left.
Since this is occurring the investors will have to be calmed down first, Really?
Christopher Thacker 4/9/10 3:47 PM then the employees who are also investors and
last but not least the customers. The customers are basically the most important to
the company and possibly will get their news along with the employees. The
employees have a lot of power in the company, being that they are investors and also
customers. Furthermore, they represent the company. This order may be the best
strategy, since if done well the investors won t leave but possibly invest a little
more. Since they are so fickle and hold so much power they can either be ... Show

Thanks the people that are loyal to the store we plan to lead the way again with
some terrific products by being the same great company we always were instead of
overspending and overextending ourselves. This positive outlook may bring back a
positive happy customer with no real reason to complain about anything. The best
way to reach the customer is by television and a very positive message about the
product. Techniques could be talking about past success and showing off plans for
the future. Not only that quality speaks for itself and Under Armour does sell a great
product.
Employee Satisfaction and a Positive Relationship With Under Armour
The employees reaction to the message will most likely be negative. Saddened by
loosing their jobs, while trying to do the best they can will really bring about some
negative feelings. I guess there are things called severance pay or free products to
make the day go a little better. However, possibly being really upset they could bad
mouth the company, talk about what a negative experience it was, choose not to
shop there ever again, and make a lot of problems somehow. Something for them to
consider is the next company they work for may not be that happy with them if
they were really treated fairly at Under Armour. However being laid of is not a
happy occasion and hopefully UA will not coldly start handing out pink slips. A

Analysis Of Issac Asimov s I Robot
Robots are a more important part of society now then they have ever been. Issac
Asimov lived in a time where robots were merely an idea, but that didn t stop him
from using this idea of a robot to represent different aspects of humanity throughout
the chapters of his book I, Robot. Asimov s book reflects on human nature and what
it means to be human. Reflecting can help people to better understand themselves and
the people that surround them. One part of human nature that Asimov brings up is
the idea that even lies with good intentions can cause harm. In I, Robot, one of the
robots has the ability to read minds, but the first Law of Robotics does not allow
robots to harm human in any way, including hurt feelings. Do you suppose that if I
asked a question, it wouldn t give exactly that answer that one wants to hear? Wouldn
t any other answer hurt us, and wouldn t Herbie know that? (Asimov 108). This robot
was doing everything it could not to hurt any of the humans and it did this by lying to
them. This is something that many people can relate to, whether it is lying to
someone by telling them they threw a good party or that it couldn t be attended
because of a fake appointment, telling the truth wouldn t benefit anyone. By
recognizing that lying is a part of human nature, it can be understood why someone
might choose to lie. The relationships made throughout life would only benefit from
empathizing with another s thought process. Asimov adds to the idea of
The Theory Of Consumer Behaviour
One of the biggest theories within the field of consumer behaviour is the theory that
people buy for status that products bring them; often buying products not for that they
do by instead the connotations behind the product (Solomon and Rabolt (DATE),
with Cave (2001) stating that products have a symbolic purpose, giving the consumer
a sense of identity, with consumers believing that the purxhase will allow themselves
to be perceived differently by other people.
Survey results showed that a substantial amount of people had made purchases from
luxury brand with 51% of respondents having made purchases from Chanel, and 43%
from Yves Saint Laurent. As well as this many had made purchases outside of the
realm of cosmetics with only 20% stating that they had not made any luxury
purchases. Dubois and Paternault (DATE) state that only a minority of consumers
buy luxury names that they do not know, this was reflected when asked what luxury
cosmetics brands were participants aware off; the most popular being Chanel, Yves
Saint Laurent and Dior with the three same brands ranking at the top three for the
most cosmetics purchases. Distinctive logos and packaging make it more likely that
consumers will be cued by a sight of a product (Cave, 2001, p.37). When queried
about the hypothsis that consumer enjoy the environment of a product more than the
product itself, interviewees gave similar responses; Participant A felt that consumers
are taught from advertising that to be liked
Mothers Of Plaza De Mayo
From 1976 to 1983, a military group was in charge of Argentina after overthrowing
the government in the 1930s (Tolerance. N.a. N.d). The military silenced the people
who opposed or spoke out against them. The people who actually spoke out
suddenly disappeared. These people were either imprisoned, tortured, killed, and
never seen again. The most common person disappeared were children who opposed
the military. Lawyers, and people who questioned the military (Tolerance. N.a. N.d).
In Buenos Aires, Argentina during the 1970s, a group of women gathered in the
Plaza de Mayo, in front of the president s palace and government buildings, to speak
out about their missing children. The Mothers of the Disappeared formed the first
public protest against... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo encouraged many other people to speak out
against the many issues they were dealing with such as human rights (Reinbold.
2010). Without these women speaking out in 1977, there would have been no
initial protest to halt the military in Argentina. To prove this argument, there is a
timeline of events that the Mothers of Plaza De Mayo triggered. These events were
less likely to have happened without the first public protest (Reinbold. 2010). So
far, research includes geography, such as where Plaza De Mayo is located and
where exactly the military ruled and information on the disappeared and how it was
very dangerous to speak to anyone who had anything negative to say about the
military. I also have learned that the armed forces disliked anyone with liberal values
and who seemed like they were a threat to their traditional Christian values
(Tolerance. N.a. N.d). What I have little knowledge on is why the Government of
Argentina was overthrown in the first place and why the military was so aggressive.
It is imperative to know what the military was thinking at the time and why they took
such a stance against certain people. What was so important to protect that the
military had to
Mercury Surface Geology
Mercury s most prominent feature is its surface geology. It s almost like the moon,
with extensive mare like plains and heavy cratering, showing that the planet has
been geologically inactive for billions of years. Craters range in diameter from
bowl shaped cavities to multi ringed impact basins hundreds of kilometers across.
One of the largest crater is the Caloris Basin, with the diameter of 1,550 km. The
impact was so powerful that it caused lava eruptions and a concentrated ring over 2
km tall surrounding the basin to form. There are two distinct regions of plains on
Mercury. These plains occur between the crater impacts and they bear a strong
resemblence to the lunar maria. From the MESSENGER spacecraft, we were able to
see that there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Over the last decades, information warfare has become a societal issue. Research

advanced electronic and computer devices to steal information and knowledge of
organizations. (Knapp,Boulton, 2006)
In this paper the role of counterintelligence and information assurance, two elements
of information warfare, in business environments is
Compare And Contrast The Government Of The People
And...
The people of America and their government each owe their commitment to obey
certain obligations to each other. Since each component of the nation must work
together in order for it to function properly, the people and those governing them each
have essential duties they must obey to sustain an efficiently operating country. The
governmentof the people, by the people, for the people. (Lincoln) both serves the
people and is served by the people.
The government is responsible for serving and representing its people. Because the
people of today generally understand that no human being is born superior or inferior
to any other, the government must promote equal opportunity and rights for all. It is
commonly agreed that all men and women
Irish Immigrants In The 1800s
In the late 1800s, people from other countries across the world choose to leave their
homes and move to the United States. United States was seen as the land of
economic opportunity at this time because of famine, land and job shortages, and
rising taxes in their countries. Many others desired personal freedom or to escape
political and religious persecution. Between 1870 and 1900, over 12 million
immigrants arrived in hopes of a promising future. The majority of these immigrants
were from England, Ireland, and Germany. Immigrants from Europe commonly
entered from ports on the East Coast and settled nearby. However, there were a few
immigrants who were attracted by lands for farming and moved inland.
During the 1870s and 1880s, many Irish occupied the slums of East Boston,
including new immigrants. The Irish began to move up the social ladder and a few
were entering the professions. However, the majority of Irish immigrants were still
living in poverty in urban slums. Despite this, the Irish were able to elect their
candidates and obtain political power in cities with large populations of Irish such as
Boston. In addition, successful Irishmen became the ward bosses of the cities and
mediated between the political parties and new Irish immigrants.
At noon of September 16, 1893, a cannon s boom signaled the start of the Oklahoma
Land Rush. About 100,000 people using various forms of transportation rushed out to
claim plots of land. Unfortunately, many were disappointed with
How Did Jefferson Change In A Lesson Before Dying
Ernest J. Gaines novel, A Lesson Before Dying, is about a young black man,
named Jefferson. Jefferson is sentenced to death as a result of a crime he seemingly
did not commit. Jefferson s god mother, Miss Emma, wants Grant Wiggins to teach
Jefferson to die like a man with dignity. Grant cannot decide whether he should help
Miss Emma, or leave the state. Eventually he decides to visit Jefferson, and attempts
to make Jefferson act like the man Miss Emma wants him to be. Since Jefferson was
a stubborn man, Grant struggled to communicate with him during their first few
visits. Gradually, Jefferson changes his attitude towards the point that he was
convicted of a crime he did not commit, and the fact that he was called a hog, and a
fool. and walks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Grant goes to the Rainbow Club, and overhears two men speaking about Jefferson,
and although he cannot fully understand what they are saying, he hears a few
impolite comments said about Jefferson. One man insists, Should have burned
him months ago (198). This proves he believes Jefferson should have died earlier,
and should not have had any time to live after the crime was committed. The man
also claims, I d pull the switch myself, they ask me (198). This verifies he does not
have any sympathy for Jefferson, and he would not have any problem ending his
life. Had Jefferson been white, it is possible people would be more open to hearing
his side of the story, and he could have been given a punishment that was not as

Elements Of Roman And Greek Architecture
Roman and Greek architecture are very prominent examples of early historic
architectural advancements. These cultures left imprints on society, founding future
forms of art and architecture through their inspirational elements are artists. These
long lasting cultural elements have created echoes as deep into the future as now, the
21st century. Looking at the Southern Methodist Church in downtown Austin, we see
a variety of Greek and Roman architectural elements. The Southern Methodist Church
has a variety of classical elements that attribute it to past temples and structures
created by the Roman and Greek cultures, appropriated to fit into the religion of the
church by the manipulation of certain parts, such as the frieze. To begin, the first and
foremost part of the discussion is the elements of Greek and Roman architecture that
have been incorporated and appropriated for the building of this church. The first and
foremost noticeable feature would be the columns, architrave, and pediment. The
columns are classic ionic columns, starting from the ornate base and leading up to
the capital, all the elements of the classical ionic columns are present, creating an
almost life like appearance to the columns as they grow and support the architrave, a
characteristic that can be traced back to Egyptian columns in temples and funerary
buildings. Further, the shaft of the column follows the Greek style of creation. The
divides are evidence that each piece of the columns were

Arguementative Essay

  • 1. Arguementative Essay Crafting an argumentative essay can be a challenging endeavor that demands a considerable amount of time, effort, and intellectual engagement. The difficulty lies not only in the articulation of your thoughts but also in the meticulous construction of a compelling argument. The process involves extensive research to gather relevant evidence and supporting data, critical analysis of opposing viewpoints, and the thoughtful integration of these elements into a cohesive narrative. The writer must navigate through the intricacies of formulating a thesis statement that succinctly captures the essence of their argument, and then proceed to build a coherent structure around it. This entails organizing ideas logically, ensuring a smooth flow of thought, and maintaining a persuasive tone throughout the essay. The challenge is not only to present one's perspective but also to anticipate and counter potential objections effectively. Moreover, the ability to synthesize information from various sources, cite references appropriately, and adhere to a specific citation style further adds to the complexity. Striking the right balance between being assertive and respectful, persuasive yet objective, can be a delicate task. The writer must be vigilant about avoiding fallacies, ensuring the accuracy of information, and upholding the ethical standards of academic writing. In essence, writing an argumentative essay requires a combination of analytical skills, research acumen, and eloquent expression. It is a process that demands dedication, critical thinking, and a commitment to presenting a well-founded perspective. While the difficulty may vary for individuals based on their familiarity with the topic and writing proficiency, the overall challenge lies in navigating the nuanced landscape of argumentation to deliver a compelling and convincing essay. For those seeking assistance, it's worth exploring platforms like HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and more comprehensive writing support can be obtained. • 2. Implementing A Project Management Methodology The use of structured methodologies in IT Project management is increasingly recognised as one of the fundamental drivers in reducing the likelihood of incomplete and costly IT project failures. The need for a systematic approach has been highlighted through a number of survey results on the failure of IT Projects. These results demonstrate that the significant issues associated with failed projects include the lack of; a defined project organisation, policy and procedures, implementation plans and integrated methods (Taylor 2003). It is apparent that these recognised issues can be significantly reduced through the implementation of standard project managementmethodologies. Lind and Culler (2013) completed research of 116 firms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Standardised project management provides consistency across the organisation. Roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and each individual on the team is aware of their expectations. Projects that are not working or no longer meet the business case are quickly identified, thus allowing for early intervention. Greater accountability and performance for project teams. (McHugh MairГ©ad 2006) The following case studies have been implemented using the PRINCE2 methodology and demonstrate how a structured methodology for IT Project Management can facilitate successful project outcomes. Example 1: Raise your glasses the water s magic! Strategic IT at SA Water: a case study in alignment, outsourcing and governance (Thorogood et al. 2004) South Australian Water (SA Water) is responsible for the supply of the majority of South Australia s water. Prior to 1999, SA Water had a record of IT underperformance and a reputation not completing IT projects. In 1999, a new CIO was appointed to improve the dire IT situation. Changes were made and immediately a new project management methodology was adopted: PRINCE2. As a result, clear structures began to be implemented. Both internal and external project managers were required to have training in PRINCE2. The Waterscope project was selected to be a showcase PRINCE2 project in May 2001. The goal of the project was to provide timely information on water quality needed to manage
  • 3. Heaney Blackberry-Picking The childlike indulgence of blackberry picking has the key to understanding adversity. In Blackberry Pickings , a twentieth century poem by Seamus Heaney, the author conveys a deeper understanding of blackberry pickings by using similes and imagery to compare blackberry pickings to human suffering. Heaney s use of imagery reveals the deeper meaning of the poem by creating a comparison between blackberries and humans. Humans have diverse characteristics like blackberries. We are a glossy purple clot/ among others, red, green, hard as a knot (3 4). Before suffering occurs, Heaney says humans are different but one thing remains a common attribute: their flesh was sweet (5). Humans without suffering in their lives grow and develop into pleasant individuals. The author s imagery portrays the juicy sweetness of blackberries as a positive quality that humans can own. After humans pick blueberries, they change. The sweet flesh would turn sour (21). When suffering harvests humans, they also change. The deeper meaning of human suffering uncovers itself as our hands were peppered/ with thorn pricks, our palms sticky as Bluebeard s (15 16). After an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first simile, humans maintain a higher standard like thickened wine (6). Wine represents what the people of higher class indulge themselves in. The people who drink wine usually do not suffer and enjoy life. When a person s status burns down as a result of suffering, the once sweet blackberries develop into big dark blobs burned/ like a plate of eyes (14 15). The simile the author uses indicates the guilt the eyes inflict on the cause of human suffering. The fine wine deteriorates to a plate of revolting eyes after Seamus Heaney s smile s comparison between blackberries and human suffering.. After the author s similes, the deeper meaning of human suffering becomes

The major goal of this theory is to foster understanding in ways that takes advantage of the different learners intelligences. All learners do not learn information the same way, and instructors need to understand that they must be diverse in their teaching to ensure that learners are able to be engaged with topics that they are teaching. Assumptions about Multiple Intelligences With multiple intelligence, students come to school with different educational needs. Not all students learn the same way so as an educator, one needs to be able to teach multiple ways on a single topic to ensure that all students have been engaged. There are multiple ways to teach a single topic, however, Gardner focused on three approaches: 1.Entry points 2.Telling Analogies 3.Approaching the core (Reigeluth, 2013). Entry points To engage students in understating a topic, there are 6 entry points to consider in multiple intelligences (Reigeluth, 2013). Not all learners are the same and as an instructor is good to individualize your lessons to tap into students in different ways because not all learn the same way. The following are the entry points that Howard Gardner states, however, he states that the model that he uses is not to be considered as a learning style (Reigeluth, 2013). Narratives is an entry point used for students who enjoy hearing topics discuss through the
  • 6. The Importance Of Social Entrepreneurship Social Entrepreneurship Despite the tremendous strides in the quality of life that humankind has made in the past two centuries, many persistent problems remain and new ones have emerged (Dees 1). To this day we still face poverty, preventable diseases are still killing the poor, the quality of education is not where it should be, human trafficking and slavery is very much alive, violence continues in many countries throughout the world, and even more alarming is the fact that the earth is warming whether we want to believe it or not, regardless of the cause. We may not all agree on our visions for an ideal world, but we can generally agree that the gap between reality and our notions of the ideal is still enormous (Dees 1). A potential strategy for improvement is to have our Social Entrepreneurs who care about the well being of the people in this world and its future, to create scalable and sustainable impact where the governmentand other efforts have been ineffective. Social Entrepreneurs, operating outside of the constraints of government, significantly enhance our ability to find and implement effective solutions to social issues. The focus on government as the social problem solver lead to some noticeable successes, such as increased access to education and health care for many, consequently the experience also revealed the limits of government as the vehicle for social problem solving (Dees 2) It is clear that top down governmental programs have serious

Technology Of The Internet Of Things Abstract Due to the vulnerable nature of the Internet of Things (IOT) the security and privacy are those important issues for the IOT which attracted lots of focus in recent years. The lack of efficient and lightweight authentication method in IOT can make it a delicious vulnerable victim for several impersonate based attacks. This paper proposes a new authentication mechanism for IOT called Certificate based Identity Resolution (CIR) which tries to protect IOT terminal nodes from attacks by applying a lightweight identity resolution method and using a Local Certificate Generator in order to simplify the node authentication process. Keywords Internet Of Things; Certificate based Identity Resolution; Authentication; Access control I. Introduction In the last few years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has been widespread like a boom word, where virtually any device having an Internet connection can be communicated and is accessible through the Internet. By making a secure user interactions with IoT is very important for making the notion of things everywhere to be successful. Many researchers are focusing on developing and improving the implementation and security of IoT based devices. Two of the major aspects for enabling the security of IoT are Authentication and Access Control to perform secure communication between devices. In this paper we will present a novel local authentication process which will enhance the simplicity of node authentication, keeping it safe from
  • 8. Canonical Angst in Young Adolescent Literature by Elysia... Young adult literature is a blooming literary category. This newly discovered territory is ever developing. Elysia Liang, author of Canonical Angst in Young Adolescent Literature, insists, The notion of adolescence as a stepping stone between childhood and adulthood is recent (2). She associates this with a direct change in childhood development, stating, Before the 20th century, the marker of adulthood was entrance into the work force. With children as young as 10 holding jobs to help support their families, few entertained the existence of an in between stage of development (2). Before the explosive growth of YA, adolescents were subject to read either children s books or Adult Books for Young People (3). To truly understand the growth of the young adult category, one must look at the figures. In 1997, 3,000 books were published that fit the YA category, according to R.R. Bowker s Publishers Weekly. In 2009, that number jumped to well over 30,000. I believe the growing force behind this category derives from the themes and characteristics echoed throughout many YA texts. The themes encompassed in YA lit, and there are many, feed the readers appetite. Characters Voice Adults are seldom the main character of a YA novel ; instead, the protagonist is, more often than not, of youth. This makes sense. An older person has experience and knowledge that is lacked by an adolescent. If the main character is older in age, his or her opinion, no matter how
  • 9. Pacific Lamprey Essay The Pacific Lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus) is an anadromous species that is found along the west coast of North America, primarily along the coast of Washington, Oregon, and northern California. E. tridentatus is a semelparous species that can live up to five years and can spend up to three and a half years in saltwater. They begin metamorphosis in July and the known period of entry into salt water is from December until June. In the ocean E. tridentatus have been documented to primarily feed on Pacific Salmonspecies such as Chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), Coho (Oncorhynchus kisutch), Sockeye (Oncorhynchus nerka), and Pink (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha). O. tshawytscha have endured most lamprey attacks because researchers believe that E. tridentatus attack this salmon when it is making the transition to swim back up stream to spawn. E. tridentatus who do not represent an anadromous life style also prey heavily on resident salmonid species. Salmonid species have an important role in the diet and life history of E. tridentatus as they are an important prey item.... However, we do not know for sure if E. tridentatus preferred salmonid of choice is in fact O. tshawytscha. Observations from past studies have shown that O. tshawytscha is preyed upon more than other fish species. When it is compared against another salmonid species, such as a O. kisutch, there is slight difference between them due to availability and environmental conditions that might prevent E. tridentatus to prey upon certain species. The question remains if E. tridentatus was placed inside a control environment with several salmonid species that all have an equal chance of predation, would it still prefer a certain species or would it still exhibit an opportunistic feeding

  • 11. A Brief Note On The Race Bias Theory Psychology assessment 2 due Friday 6th February 2015 Ahmed Ali 14033164 Abstract Own race bias is the temperament to distinguish and individualise between the face of our own race more easily than faces of another race. The present study examined weather or not own race bias exists within our communities. The standard deviation (SD) for the number of black faces recalled for group 2 is 1.82574 and the SD of faces recalled from group 4 is 1.94936. The SD of white faces recalled for group 1 is 1.09545 and the SD number of faces recalled for group 3 is 1.30384 these results show own race bias was indeed present amongst these 20 youths. Introduction The own race bias theory is the temperament to distinguish and individualize between the face of one s race more easily than faces of another race. This theory can explain why you may hear people saying another ethnic or racial group all look alike . Own race bias causes problems when it comes to eye witness testimony and is one of the main reasons I will be conducting this experiment. When the victim and suspect are from different racial or ethnic backgrounds it is likely that the victim will be less accurate in pointing out the culprit. For example picking a criminal out in an id parade (line up of criminals). There are many different potential explanations on ORB varying from intergroup contact theory to neural substrates of ORB. Another very interesting potential explanation in ORB is that we developed the habit of ORB
  • 12. The Importance of Animals and Symbolism in Ancient... The Ancient Egyptians are known for many of the incredible aspects of their culture and everything they have made. Some of the well known ancient Egyptian relics are the ones like the ancient pyramids, the Great Sphinx of Giza, mummies, and their many forms of art. Ancient Egyptian art, most commonly the paintings, are one of the most recognized styles of art. Not only is Egyptian art beautiful, but it carries a huge deal of value and significance with it. A great portion of the time, the art has some kind of religious meaning to it. Consequently it is very difficult to discuss the art itself without delving into the various gods and goddesses presented in it. Something that particularly struck me about Ancient Egyptian art was their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The proportion of some objects to one another is inaccurate, seeing as the Ancient Egyptians would size things based on importance. Things that were less important were illustrated as smaller, and things that were more substantial were made bigger. The art expresses unity and repetition, because the colors are alike throughout, and the human figures are very similar to each other. The paintings are incredibly unoriginal, as they are all made to look the same. More often than not, they are seen paired with hieroglyphics. Typically, the Ancient Egyptians painted scenes of daily life, burial rituals and scenes from the afterlife, as well as scenes depicting fundamental events and often show one or more of their 114 gods and goddesses. The Ancient Egyptians used color for much more than aesthetical purposes. Not only do they employ color to enhance the artwork in appearance, but they would often use color for symbolic reasons. When looking at the artworks which used paint, such as the paintings and carvings, it is obvious that the Ancient Egyptians did not use many colors. They used about 6 colors, and the same colors were used for a range of different objects in the artworks, sometimes with minor changes. For instance, male figures in the art were depicted with darker skin than the female figures. To the Ancient Egyptians, color was a way to symbolize the importance of a figure, and

The Pros And Cons Of Labor Unions Labor Unions could be defined as an organized association of workers, often in a trade or profaession, formed to protect and further their rights and interests. In the arcticle, Why the Labor Unions were Given a Bloody Nose in Canton, Mississippi, Richard A. Epstein explains the main claim, or statement, made in this article was that the UAW hoped for success in Canton, but the results were not in the UAW s favor. This author took a stance on the UAW s side. Epstein further explained what would ve happened if the UAW would have won the vote. In the article, Tesla denies claims that tried to block unionizing effort, by Dee Ann Durbin, the author explains that Tesla security guards allegedly refused to let off duty employees hand out leaflets about the United Auto Workersunion near the doors of the company s factory. In this article, Dee Ann Durbin was neutral. The argument that could be made from this article is would be does Tesla need a labor union? The employees also stated that a supervisor threatened to fire employees who passed out stickers, leaflets or other material not approved by Tesla. The UAW can affect Tesla in numerous ways, such as by protecting the employees, defending their rights, and allowing them to receive the respect they deserve. Tesla employees need protection because they might get fired for promoting change within the company. John Winthrop A Model Of Christian Charity Analysis In 1630, Puritan leader John Winthrop delivered perhaps the most famous sermon in American history entitled A Model of Christian Charity, in which he stressed to his fellow Puritans to adopt a sense of unity by setting aside self interest for the sake of the community (Cohen, 2). Winthrop s idea of putting community first has played a major role in American history, but as Winthrop probably knew would happen, his idea of unity has always been at odds with those of self interest; as America is very much a history of these competing forces. The forces of those willing to put aside their own interest for unity, the common good, and for the preservation of the Union vs. those who have pursued their own selfish ways. This paper will offer insights into how Winthrop s remarks have played out during the first half of American history by examining certain individuals and events that have followed along with Winthrop s idea, or those who have posed a challenge to it. Twenty three years before Winthrop gave his sermon conflict over self interest vs. the common good was being played out in Jamestown. Jamestown had been established in 1607 as a purely economic venture as Englishmen traveled to the New World in pursuit of riches, following in the footsteps of the Spanish. These men were consumed with their own self interest of finding gold and becoming rich as opposed to working for the betterment of the colony, causing Jamestown to teeter on the edge of extinction for nearly a

Oddly enough, vinyl records were first developed in 1930, and were most popular in the mid twentieth century, approximately between the 1950s and 1980s. Clearly, this predates the culture of the occupant living here (Records Collector Guild 2014:WEB). According to comparisons among the other complexes, this was the digital age in which most people used electronic devices to listen to music. However, according to the Record Collectors Guild, even though the main reliance for musical entertainment was digital media and smaller, compacted discs, the vinyl record was still in production and used by a small number of the population in the early twenty first century (CITE). Inspection of the casings of the records revealed that the majority of the records were released in the twenty first century, with a few exceptions that were obviously older by comparison and dated back to the twentieth century. The records with dates from the twenty first century actually provide a more precise date for this site. The most recent date of anything in the room was found on a record casing, and dates in the year 2017. The general assumption is that the occupant had these records as a collection, or maybe that they were passed down from previous generations. Clearly, these were used

Some studies has addressed creep behavior for one or two typically used sandwich panels in construction industry. This part of the thesis will provided background knowledge of sandwich panels, as well as developed equations based on different theories about creep behavior of sandwich panels. Other specific aspects about creep in sandwich panels will also be included, such as temperature influence in creep behavior. 2.1Origins and development The origins of sandwich construction can be found in many book which introduce these type of structure. Although Noor, Burton, and Bert (1849, cited in Vinson 1999) state the basic concept of sandwich construction in 19th century, the sandwich construction is relatively new concept and firstly be used in aerospace industry (Davies 2001). The development of technology in sandwich construction is driven by special demand of the shell of spacecraft or aircraft, which is light in weight yet strong enough to sustain huge air pressure in acceleration or landing. A perfect example of this application is Apollo space ship, which successful landed on the moon on 20 July 1969.The wall construction of Apollo capsule was made by two interconnected sandwich shells, and each of them has a honeycomb core. The yield on the 2 year notes and 10 year notes, which are heavily influenced by the Fed regulated interest rates and inflation expectations, respectively, increased from .76% to 1.4% and 2.25% to 3.93 during the same period, respectively. Concurrently, the S P 500 had gained 4.8%, rebounding 40% from March lows. Though stocks have statistically delivered higher returns in the long term compared to bonds, bond prices are less volatile. The dividends paid out on stocks are uncertain and depend on the distributable profits of the company, the company s investment plans and cash needs for the same, and other such factors. On the other hand, bonds generally make a pre specified interest payout to all bondholders periodically, thereby ensuring an assured, known cash inflow in the hands of a bond holder. Further, on maturity of the bond, a pre determined principal amount is paid out by the issuer to the bondholder, to purchase back the bond. Hence, a bondholder who holds the bond to maturity, knows exactly how much he /she will receive both by way of interest as well as principal on maturity. This is completely untrue for stocks, where neither the dividend flow nor the capital appreciation is predictable with certainty. Bonds are therefore relatively safer

Jimmy Porter s Role In Look Back In Anger, By John Osborne JIMMY S PERSONALITY The novel Look Back in Anger was written by John Osborne, who was one of the playwrights in the Angry Young Men movement. John Osborne, born in 1929 in a middle class family, lived in a place he dubbed a cultural wasteland , had an execrable relationship with women and was one of those scholarship boys in white tile universities. The Angry Young Menwas a literary movement of the 1950 s whose fundamental purpose was to express their emotions mainly anger and protest against social stratification in a very repressed and conservative Britain. However, this warrior longed for a rightful cause in a stagnant society. This intensity of living, when brought to relationships, makes it impossible to have casual acquaintances. His self love was so intense that in every situation, even when it had nothing to do with him, he was the wronged party. Throughout the years, American citizens would be accustomed to having foreigners living in their neighborhoods. The Italian immigrants established communities where they managed to keep la via vecchia alive. The American population viewed the Italian immigrants as an inferior race. People who made rude comments about Italians specifically directed it to them and made sure they knew. They still regard Italian Americans as racially inferior dagos , wops, guineas, and greasers. 1 Like most immigrants that migrated to the Land of Liberty at the time, Italian immigrants were seen as foreigners to those that were born and raised in America. Particularly, Italian immigrants were placed at the lowest level of the economy and social class. The American population viewed them as uneducated people who were destined to be laborers. There were people that despise the idea of immigrants coming to the United States and there is no space for them. America for Americans should be the motto of every citizen. 2 They were not needed because they were unskilled and uneducated. Thus, the American population never sought to treat foreigners with respect. First, second, and third generations had to live with discrimination and horrible working and living conditions. Architecture changed as well, notably figures such as Katayama Tokuma who created the Akasaka Detached Palace in Tokyo, which was inspired by the Palace of Versailles. The palace abandoned traditional Japanese style materials and dГ©cor, since the Meiji period was focused on adopting new materials and styles. Gradually, there was return to the blending of Japanese and Western styles in the 1800s. Painting was also affected by Westernization, particularly the introduction of oil painting by Charles Wirgman. Over the course of the 1800s, several art schools were formed in Japan that focused on teaching Western style techniques, for example Hakuba Kai. Ultimately, Japanese artists wholeheartedly plunged into European ways. Painters adopted oil and canvas, a mode totally foreign to their tradition. Nude oil paintings appeared, together with the old standby the still life study (La Plante 265). Westernization brought about the yЕЌshoku, which translates into western food. The interactive nature of the elements within the organisation and between the oi:ganisation and the environment result in at least two open system characteristics that are central to the contingency approach: adaptation and equifinality. The oral cavity is the place where digestion begins. There are three major types of muscle tissue: Cardiac Muscle Cardiac muscle is so named because it is found in the heart. Cells are joined to one another by intercalated discs which allow the synchronization of the heart beat. Cardiac muscle is branched, striated muscle. Skeletal Muscle Skeletal muscle, which is attached to bones by tendons, is associated with the body s voluntary movements. Skeletal muscle is striated muscle. Unlike cardiac muscle, the cells are not branched. Visceral (Smooth) Muscle Visceral muscle, is found in various parts of the body such as the arteries, the bladder, the digestive tract, as well as in many other organs. Visceral muscle is also called smooth muscle because it doesn t have cross striations. Visceral muscle contracts slower than skeletal muscle, but the contraction can be sustained over a longer period of time. Nervous Tissue: Neurons Nerve tissue , nervous tissue the specialized tissue making up the central and peripheral nervous systems, consisting of neurons with their processes, other specialized or supporting cells, and extracellular material. Nervous tissue is responsible for sensing stimuli and transmitting signals to and from different parts of an organism. Neurons are the basic unit of nervous tissue. As we have previously discussed, structure and function are very much intertwined within biology and the

Burial Film Essay The stage setting for a typical Western film happens in the, Opening Credits, A Burial scene in which the image reveals the challenges of the West s landscape juxtaposed with the beauty of the land (Bandy and Stoehr xiv). In addition, the form of the exposition appears to signify an ode to Ford by showcasing the beauty of the American landscape against the harsh realities of life in the West. Nonetheless, this also acts as a contradiction because, on the one hand, Eastwood revises the context of Ford s films but keeps the form intact. Moreover, the viewer witnesses a non diegetic written narrativefrom the perspective of William s mother in law followed by the image of a shadow of a man digging a grave for his deceased wife against the backdrop... Also, he takes on the role of the hero in a Campbellian Monomyth structure that is standard in Westernculture narratives and helps keep the film within this genre s framework. Additionally, by constructing the narrative within these limits, the mythical actions of the hero can constantly be inverted to supplant two contradictory discourses simultaneously (Buscombe 87). In order to accomplish the task of revising the context, Eastwood first showcases the stereotype; then later debunks it though his denouncements; only to repeat this process all over again. An ode has a sentimental, nostalgic quality that holds onto the past. However, the analysis in the following paragraph shows how the film sets up two modalities in which past actions can have upon the future. During, the Schofield Kid Meets Munny scene, the myth of William s past, told via stories that the Schofield Kid has heard and repeats ...you re as cold as the snow and don t have no weak nerve nor fear Additionally, in this scene, he tries to recruit William to do good by killing no good cowboys and tells him a more violent story than what actually

Issac Asimov lived in a time where robots were merely an idea, but that didn t stop him from using this idea of a robot to represent different aspects of humanity throughout the chapters of his book I, Robot. Asimov s book reflects on human nature and what it means to be human. Reflecting can help people to better understand themselves and the people that surround them. One part of human nature that Asimov brings up is the idea that even lies with good intentions can cause harm. In I, Robot, one of the robots has the ability to read minds, but the first Law of Robotics does not allow robots to harm human in any way, including hurt feelings. Do you suppose that if I asked a question, it wouldn t give exactly that answer that one wants to hear? Wouldn t any other answer hurt us, and wouldn t Herbie know that? (Asimov 108). This robot was doing everything it could not to hurt any of the humans and it did this by lying to them. This is something that many people can relate to, whether it is lying to someone by telling them they threw a good party or that it couldn t be attended because of a fake appointment, telling the truth wouldn t benefit anyone. By recognizing that lying is a part of human nature, it can be understood why someone might choose to lie. The relationships made throughout life would only benefit from empathizing with another s thought process. Asimov adds to the idea of

Survey results showed that a substantial amount of people had made purchases from luxury brand with 51% of respondents having made purchases from Chanel, and 43% from Yves Saint Laurent. As well as this many had made purchases outside of the realm of cosmetics with only 20% stating that they had not made any luxury purchases. Dubois and Paternault (DATE) state that only a minority of consumers buy luxury names that they do not know, this was reflected when asked what luxury cosmetics brands were participants aware off; the most popular being Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Dior with the three same brands ranking at the top three for the most cosmetics purchases. Distinctive logos and packaging make it more likely that consumers will be cued by a sight of a product (Cave, 2001, p.37). When queried about the hypothsis that consumer enjoy the environment of a product more than the product itself, interviewees gave similar responses; Participant A felt that consumers are taught from advertising that to be liked

The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo encouraged many other people to speak out against the many issues they were dealing with such as human rights (Reinbold. 2010). Without these women speaking out in 1977, there would have been no initial protest to halt the military in Argentina. To prove this argument, there is a timeline of events that the Mothers of Plaza De Mayo triggered. These events were less likely to have happened without the first public protest (Reinbold. 2010). So far, research includes geography, such as where Plaza De Mayo is located and where exactly the military ruled and information on the disappeared and how it was very dangerous to speak to anyone who had anything negative to say about the military. I also have learned that the armed forces disliked anyone with liberal values and who seemed like they were a threat to their traditional Christian values (Tolerance. N.a. N.d). What I have little knowledge on is why the Government of Argentina was overthrown in the first place and why the military was so aggressive. It is imperative to know what the military was thinking at the time and why they took such a stance against certain people. What was so important to protect that the military had to

These cultures left imprints on society, founding future forms of art and architecture through their inspirational elements are artists. These long lasting cultural elements have created echoes as deep into the future as now, the 21st century. Looking at the Southern Methodist Church in downtown Austin, we see a variety of Greek and Roman architectural elements. The Southern Methodist Church has a variety of classical elements that attribute it to past temples and structures created by the Roman and Greek cultures, appropriated to fit into the religion of the church by the manipulation of certain parts, such as the frieze. To begin, the first and foremost part of the discussion is the elements of Greek and Roman architecture that have been incorporated and appropriated for the building of this church. The first and foremost noticeable feature would be the columns, architrave, and pediment. The columns are classic ionic columns, starting from the ornate base and leading up to the capital, all the elements of the classical ionic columns are present, creating an almost life like appearance to the columns as they grow and support the architrave, a characteristic that can be traced back to Egyptian columns in temples and funerary buildings. Further, the shaft of the column follows the Greek style of creation. The divides are evidence that each piece of the columns were
