my unknown is 2 propanone. Discussion/Conclusion This experiment was done to
identify one ketone with Thin Layer Chromatography and one using nuclear
magnetic resonance spectrometry. When using Thin Layer Chromatography, I was
able to determine my unknown by observing my slides and seeing that the spots of
my unknown are most like those of 2 heptanone in height and size. Furthermore, I
calculated my Rf values and determined that my Rf value of Unknown K (.5) was
most near my Rf value of 2 heptanone (.51). Finally, comparing the derivative
melting points of these two substances confirms that 2 heptanone is my unknown.
The derivative melting point of 2 heptanone is 89 while my unknown was 87.
When using nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry, I had unknown A. With this
unknown, I had two peaks on my CNMR which told me I had one carbon on both
sides of the line symmetry. Also, on my HNMR I had one peak with a multiplicity

13,000 air traffic controllers unless they called off an illegal strike, the president not
only transformed his presidency, but also shaped the labor relations in the United
States.
The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) strike of August 3.
1981 was a remarkable day in the history of this country. Under the direction of union
president,
Robert E. Poli, 14,500 members declared a nationwide strike. Approximately 11,500
members walked off their jobs because of contract disputes with the Federal Aviation
It won an order directing that the stoppage be ended and that controllers return to
work. The FAA won similar orders in Minnesota and Alaska (Northrup 169). As a
direct result, the FAA fired fifty two controllers, of whom forty six were later
reinstated to their positions. The FAA also suspended nearly on thousand more
controllers for a short period of time. As a result of the strike, Bailey s tenure as
executive director of PATCO came to an end when his position was abolished.

According to the Shaper, Grendel was the dark side...in effect. The terrible race God
cursed (51). From his very upbringing, Grendel was cursed, set apart from the rest of
nature. This isolation became evident throughout the novel as it seemed both humans
and nature were against him. In the novel Grendel by John Gardner, the theme of
nature fighting what is unnatural is supported by the motifs of animals, snakes, and
trees. The prevalence of nature s clash with that which is unnatural is evident in the
reoccurring images of animals throughout the novel. Gardner emphasizes nature s
resistance to Grendel as [a bull] snorted through this nose and pawed more deeply,
spattering grass and black earth at his sharp rear hooves...I watched him loll his
weight forward, sliding into an easy lope, head tilted, coming toward me (20). Due to
the idea that Grendel is secluded from both nature and humans, he can be considered
an unnatural being for he has no place in the world. Clearly, Grendel is in discord
with nature as animals, such as this bull, attack him with the intent to kill. As a result,
Gardner uses the motif of animals attacking Grendel to suggest that nature as a whole
