• Put study times during the time of day that you are most

• Allow your note taking style to be flexible: different subjects
require different styles
• Remember to title and date your notes to help you stay
organized
• Try writing 3-5 sentence summaries to help you return to and
review the class content
• Your notes are one of your best study tools; they should be
useful
6. Critical Reading Wrap-up
• Develop a system for your reading
• Take notes as you go
• Skim the content first to get an overview, then return with a
critical eye
• Sometimes reading from beginning to end isn't the best
method; don't be afraid to read out of order
7. Study Skills Wrap-up
• Studying should be active!
• Start your studying early
• Build a study plan to give yourself some structure
• Practice the material in the same way that you will be tested
on it

• Start with what you know to gain momentum
• Read all the directions to each question
• Read the rest of the exam for hints to questions that you get

• For essay questions:
• Make sure to answer the question being asked
• Write something: even bullet points
• For STEM exams: Show all your work!

• Practice your presentaiton to help with confidence
• Speak clearly to your audience and make eye contact
