Solution Of Ocean Pollution
3 Jordan Horn Problem/Solution Mr. Kucharik Oceanic Waste The ocean is a vast, and
magnificent body of water; it stretches for miles all over the world. In truth, 71 percent of the
earth is water covered, moreover, 96.5 percent of all the water contained within the Earth is ocean
water (water.usgs.gov). Comprised within these bodies of water the Indian, Pacific, Atlantic, and
Arctic oceans, are millions of sea animals. These animals alike are at a high danger risk, due to
waste and debris throughout these oceans, such as, plastic, metal, rubber, and other man made
debris. Animals throughout the seas have an extensive variety of space to explore and inhabit;
although, not all animals within the sea inhabit the same areas. In actuality, certain animals are, in a
way, designated to a location, and/or ocean depth, and distance from the shore. However, even
though these animals inhabit dissimilar areas, the oceanic pollution and waste build up affects all
animals within these massive masses of water, and it is up to us, as human beings, to interrupt this
situation. For example, an estimation states that 100,000 marine creatures die, each year from
plastic entanglement, furthermore, these are just the animals that are recovered
(www.oceancrusaders.org pg 1). Likewise, one million seabirds have been affected by plastic
waste (www.oceancrusaders.org pg 1). We as humans are seeing affects by these problems as well,
for instance, in 2009 (the

The Beach Boys Poem Analysis
Hopping into the car or closing the bedroom door, turning up the music, relaxing, and being alone.
Both Stephen Dunn and the Beach Boys wrote about their places of relaxation where they go to
get away from all the problems in their lives. Stephen Dunn, who wrote The Sacred, was married
and later got divorced. He could have written this poem when he was grieving that and did not want
to interact with anyone else. His car was probably the place he went to have privacy and quiet, at
times like that. Brian Wilson, who wrote In My Room for The Beach Boys, wrote the poem after
battling drugs, alcohol, abuse, and mental illness for years. The poem could have a lot to do with
what he felt like while he was going through everything. He probably... Show more content on

In The Sacred, the word car is repeated to emphasize that it is a place where people feel safe and
show how important it is for everyone to have a place to be themselves. A sacred place is
peaceful and it is a place where people do not have to be afraid. One student says that his sacred
place is his car, and then gives all the reasons why his car is so important to him (Dunn 2).
Before each reason he repeats the car, because he is pointing out and emphasizing that his sacred
place is his car (Dunn 4). He can go there when he needs time to think and he enjoys being in it
alone (Dunn 6). After he says his opinion about his car, the car [keeps] coming up (...)
/ [because] others kn[o]w the truth ha[s] been spoken (Dunn 7, 10). The other students agree
that their cars are a place where they can feel protected too. They agree that the car is important
because it is a great place to be alone, to forget about everything else, and to just have time to
oneself. Repetition in the poem In My Room is used in a similar way for the same reason. After
listing each reason why he feels secure in his room, the person repeats twice that the room is
his. By repeating that a total of six times, he stresses that his room is a special place, where he
won t be afraid because he can lock out/ all [his] worries and (...) fears when he is in there (The
Beach Boys 6 7, 12 13). His room is the only place where he feels safe. It is the only place that he
can have to himself without worrying about anything else, so it is really important to him. In both
poems repetition is used to draw attention to the place where those people feel most secure. It is
used to show how important it is for everyone to have a place like that for himself or

A New Approach to Art
A NEW APPROACH I continue to get further away from the usual artists tools; easel, palette,
brushes. I prefer sticks, trowels, knives and dripping fluid paint. My feeling is new needs need
new techniques. It seems to me the modern painter cannot express this age the airplane, the atom
bomb, the radio in the old forms of the Renaissance or any other past culture. Jackson Pollock
(1950) It is apparent from the quote mentioned above that Art has undergone rapid transformation
from the 20th century. Everything had been declared a fair game. Almost anything and
everything was considered as art. 20th century art had played a pivotal role in defying
conventions. Besides this art was no longer restricted to things that looked aesthetically appealing
but was far beyond that. Artworks were no longer perceived as static objects with a singular
meaning. Artists challenged the very old definition of art by adding or rather including a lot more
to it. Art was no longer restricted to something that is visually appealing but also to something that
addressed a variety of issues. They believed in using art as a platform in representing or addressing
multiple socio political, cultural and community based issues. Also, their work expanded far
beyond the institutional confines of the gallery or museum space. Artists have now produced a
variety of works whose meaning cannot be understood otherwise because their context is very
crucial to the piece of art. Many times the collection

Why Is Flagellation Should Be Allowed In Schools
As I was growing up, my mom would tell me stories when they would use the wooden paddle in
school. She would tell me that they would spank her friends when they would behave bad. She
also told me that there was this kid they spanked so hard that they heard the kid sobbing and
squealing. Flagellation should be allowed in some schools, because some kids don t have respect
or manners in schooland by that they should learn by getting paddled. Because some parents don t
punish their kids and that s what makes kids behave bad and they have to learn by getting paddled.
And I think that it would help some parents by straightening their kids up a little. The reason they
should do this again in schools is because some kids don t have the respect they

Obesity Is A Disease Characterized By Excessive Body Fat
Obesity is a disease characterized by excessive body fat. People who are medically obese usually
are affected by behavior, genetic and environmental factors that are difficult to control with dieting.
Obesity increases the likelihood of certain diseases especially cardiovascular disorders and
diabetes. Obesity has become a pandemic nowadays. In the Indian scenario, even with the growing
awareness about health and fitness, more than 3 percent (3 crores) of the Indian population is obese.
Our study aims to determine the association of BMIwith cardiac output, forearm and calf blood flow
in healthy young male adults. Our results are consistent with our hypothesis.
Cardiac output was found to be significantly more in obese subjects compared to overweight and
normal BMI group. Similar results were found in other studies too. Obese individuals have
expanded central blood volume. In addition, stroke volume and cardiac output are both increased.
These changes in blood volume and cardiac output are most likely due to the increased metabolic
demand that result from increases in both lean and fat mass. The large fat depots in significant
obesity produce a low resistance vascular circuit that may further increase cardiac output. There
may also be changes in renal absorption of salt and water. The combination of these factors is
proposed to produce a form of volume overload which can give rise to high output failure later.

Another study revealed that obese patients demonstrated

Analysis Of Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte DArthur
A knight s role in society during the middle ages is to be a sacrificial pawn to the king. During
the medieval times, the knight class is under the king and lords classes; however, they were also
within the nobility rank. In exchange for land and food, they are obligated to assist and support
their lordand king. They must be physically and mentally prepared to forfeit their lives when they
fight for and protect their lord no matter the occasion. According to the code of chivalry, they must
serve their king and remain loyal always. In addition, a chevalier cannot act on their own accord if
the consequences include betrayal of the king, thus they must remain selfless. All the chevaliers
have their flaws; however, the other three knights... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that Sir Gawain and Sir Launcelot had a poor relationship, he has asked for Sir
Launcelot s assistance because he understands that Sir Launcelot is the flower of the
knighthood, and an essential key to protecting his king since he is unable to complete the task
himself (Malory 221). In spite of Sir Gawain exerted the efforts of writing to Sir Launcelot, Sir
Launcelot never appeared on the battlefield. Although Sir Bedivere has been with King Arthur
during the fight with Sir Modred, does not necessarily mean he is more chivalrous and loyal
than Sir Launcelot. As instructed by King Arthur, Sir Bedivere were to take the sword Excalibur
to the shore of the lake and throw in the water (Malory 340 1). In response to his wish, Sir
Bedivere decided to deceive the king and claim that he has seen nothing when he threw the
sword into the water. Lies reached the king ears twice such as seeing only the wind upon the
waves and the lapping of the waves (Malory 348 354). Automatically, King Arthur knew Sir
Bedivere has been dishonest with him and states, twice you have betrayed me (Malory 355). Sir
Bedivere allowed his greed to lead him astray from the code of chivalry. Corresponding with the
code of chivalry, he must live to serve the king, live to defend the crown and country and all it
holds dear and obey the law of the king. He has broken all these laws by becoming a priest like the

How Does Shakespeare Use Blood Imagery In Macbeth
Shakespeare s classic tragedy, Macbeth, embodies aspects of literature that are still relevant to
writing today and puts them to perfect use. The tragic play is superfluous with outstanding
examples of prestigious writing and literary devises that all work together to set the tone and
develop various themes. The ingenious writer included several different types of imagery
throughout the infamous play to greater impact its audience and the development of its characters.
Shakespeare uses blood, animal, and dark imagery in order to contribute to the downfall of the
tragic hero, Macbeth. Blood imagery is used frequently in Macbeth to show the killings, and guilt
during Macbeth s downfall. Towards the end of the play, Shakespeare uses Lady Macbeth... Show

The tragic hero s downfall can easily be paralleled against the idea of darkness encompassing the
haunting and negative tolls taken on Macbeth due to bloodshed and fear. Toward the beginning
of the play, Macbeth asks, Let not light see my black and deep desires (1.4.53). By this, Macbeth
is begging that the stars and light be gone in order to disguise his true desires of power,
bloodlust, and murder. Shakespeare uses darkness throughout the play to illustrate Macbeth s
inner turmoil, but uses light to depict Banquo s inner peace, thus making them foils. Banquo is
in desperation for lightness when stating, Hold, take my sword. There s husbandry in heaven;
/ Their candles are all out (2.1.4 5), unlike Macbeth who is desperate for complete darkness. The
pair s requests mirror the depths of their true personalities of Banquo s good verses Macbeth s
evil. In a critical article, L.C. Knights determined that The main theme of the reversal of values is
given out simply and clearly in the first scene Fair is foul, and foul is fair ; and with it are
associated premonitions of the conflict, disorder and moral darkness into which Macbeth will
plunge himself. (Knights). This analysis of the characters shifts in personality traits and points of
views is supported numerous times within examples of Shakespeare s darkness imagery. The

Theme Of Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the
characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. In the The Rape of the Lock there is an
invocation to Muses, intention of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, and journey on water,
underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but
all for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject
produces comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. Instead of magnificent passions and
great fights between heroes in which the immortals take part, we see the theme of The Rape of the
Lock as a minor passionate quarrel assisted by the spirits of the air. The... Show more content on

In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced the episodes of the game of Omber which
suggests the powerful battle and the cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is
also the battle between lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this
battle is fought with fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight
between Belinda and Baron and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another very important
element of an epic is the active participation of supernatural machinery like god and goddesses.
In The Rape of the Lock, there are sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits are small and
unimportant things and are therefore, exactly in keeping with the triviality of the theme. These
aerial spirits guards the person of the heroine that is Belinda and when there is fight between the
flowers of Belinda and those of the Baron, they take part in the fight like god and goddesses in
war. Pope described the protecting sylph under Ariel. In that the sylphs are the lampoon of epic
deities. A long dangerous journey on water is a must in an epic. Here in the poem The Rape of
the Lock , Belinda takes a relaxed journey on water without any stress and danger. She travels up
the Thames in a boat to join Hampton Court to play the game of card Omber adorning her

Greek Human Figure Essay
Greek art during the seventh to the second century, have evolved from the archaic period through
the Hellenistic period. These periods expand on previous era and lead to more detail and dramatic
artwork. Sculpture s of human figure s gained intensity with each era. During these periods, human
figure s particularly male figure s was considered as incredible art objects by the Greeks.
Additionally, they were more fascinated by male sculptures than female sculptures. They made
enormous beautiful sculptures in male form making them appear very tall and strong .For
example The Hero and Centaur from Olympia Greece, around 750 730 BCE, which now stand in
Metropolitan Museum of art in New York City. That statue represents a man and a centaur, part
man and part horse locked in a hand and hand battle. The artist makes the centaur as a man in font
and a horse in the back. Another example is the Mantikos Apollo sculpture, statuette of a youth
dedicated by Mantikos to Apollo, from Greece, around 700 680 BCE, which now in museum of
fines arts in Boston. This artwork shows how the Greek people were attempting at making
sculptures in human form. Most sculptures were made of two sorts of material. Stone, particularly
marble or cut by hand with metal tools .However, during the archaic period the Greeks... Show

Students with a fixed mindset believe that they are born with a specific set of talent and they are
limited by those talents. They will fell that they reached their expected ability, consequently stop

provide them an opportunity to learn a new concept. They also believe that there are no restrictions
due to inherited ability.
A similar notion is shown on Geoff Colvin s book, Talent is overrated. He validates that success is

and that inborn talent is only helpful when the student first start learning a new concept.

Communications, The Mechanistic Perspective
Communication the process of transmitting and receiving ideas, information, and messages. The
rapid transmission of information over long distances and ready access to information have become
conspicuous and important features of human society, especially in the past 150 years.
The encyclopedia definition of communication encompasses the ideas of exchanging a variety of
messages with others. This is important to remember when looking at communications within an

Non verbal cues are those expressions of emotions and attitudes toward another person and in
regulating the interaction between people. The text organizes the cues into seven categories and
includes good examples, including: environment, proximity, posture, gestures, facial expressions,
eye behavior and vocalics.
One area missing within communications chapter was what the person is wearing, but was
included in chapter 6, perception and performance evaluations. Many books advocate dressing for
success. Some examples include shopping, salesperson and the office. If you are going to shop at
flea markets, dressing down is a good way to start the bargaining process. A car salesperson should
dress to show that he is successful, but not ostentatious.
In my profession, I dress towards the client based on whether suit and tie or casual are the choice
for the client s organization. This non verbal cue can aid in preparing the initial psychological base
for the remainder of the conversation and ensure that it does not detract from the conversation
while it is ongoing.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Autoinjectors
1. Introduction
Mass casualty situations are common with most of the natural disasters like earth quake, tsunami,
flood, avalanche, explosion, accidents, building collapse, military operations and terrorism. Injuries
and wound infections are very common in such disasters that need immediate management;
otherwise it may lead to morbidity and mortality. Medical management is very difficult at that
situation as the access to hospital sector would be either not possible or difficult. Autoinjectors are
very much useful in emergency situations as it can make self administration possible. It can be
used to deliver drug either by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Autoinjector has got many
advantages. It delivers the drug fast and gives better bioavailability as it deliver the drug with a
spray effect during administration. It is convenient and since the needle is inside the vial itself, the
needle phobia can be avoided.
1.1Natural disasters and infections

Japan s Laws Of The Trafficking Of Women And Children Is...
Japan is a Tier 2 source, transit, and destination country for forced labor, sexual exploitation, and
forced marriages. Men, women, and children are all susceptible to trafficking. The government
actively participates in the exploitation of its people, especially through the program of TITP, or
the Technical Intern Training Program. The proliferation of the sexual trafficking of women and
children is driven by sex tourism. Runaway girls are among the victims of this horrific trade.
Japan does not meet the minimum standard of the 2000 UN TIP Protocol and is the only G 8
member who did not accede to neither its standards nor the 2000 Transnational Organized Crime
Convention. There are no convictions for perpetrators of forced labor and no laws enacted to
prosecute traffickers. Japan s laws are not collusive with international definitions of trafficking. In
2015, Japan had a modest increase in the enforcement of ant trafficking laws. However, Japan s
laws do not exclude all forms of trafficking, rather there are large gaps in their criminal laws. Under
the 1956 ProstitutionPrevention Law, Articles 7 through 12 criminalizes the procurement of
prostitutes and forced prostitution. Article 226 2 also criminalizes the buying and selling of
humans. Under the 1947 Employment Security Act, it criminalizes the engagement of labor

Health Planners Essay
Health Planners Written by: Tara Mcmahon Today I will be discussing a job called health
planners. Talking about the ups and downs. Some people go to university and study what they
want to do without actually researching it. Some things that you will have to do in this job are...
Plan the department of public health, which means make a plan and schedule of what you are
going to do and when you are going to do these things. Analyse and evaluate the current health
programs. Analyse the demographic health data which for people who don t know that means it is
all of the patient s medical history. It is what happens the most in the hospitals and focuses more on
trying to solve those things. They are usually really involved with drug and alcohol

Similarities Between Lyrics And Poetry
Are Lyrics Poetry or Meaningless Words? In society today, there are many arguments about
whether or not song lyrics should be considered poetry, or if the two are completely different in
their meanings. Lyrics should be considered poetry because they have a purpose and meaning and
some are written similarly to how poems are. Lyrics and poetryare similar in many ways,in
expression, how they are written and their purpose. A controversial argument is that many people
argue the fact that today music is not really meaningful so how can it be considered poetry? Well
in song lyrics, there is the creativeness of pulling in literary techniques to give the lyrics a deeper
meaning. For example, in Garth Brooks famous song, The Dance, he says,... Show more content on

She also is using a hyperbole when saying I died a hundred times. The concept of what she is
saying is to try to tell us how her significant other leaving her for another girl makes her feel
similar to dying. Those are just a few ways literary techniques are used in both lyrics and poetry.
Additionally, lyrics and poetry are used throughout the world to help others understand what
people are feeling. Even if people don t speak the same language, music and poetry makes them
feel that they do. It gives a sense of connection, even if it only is for three minutes. Even if you re
not looking at the phonetic part of a song lyric or poem, they both still have an impact. No
matter where you are in the world poetry and music both explain how people are feeling
throughout the world. For example in Toby Keith s Courtesy of the Red White and Blue, he
says, Justice will be served and the battle will rage, This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
And you ll be sorry that you messed with The U.S of A. (Lines 25 28)
Keith is saying in these lyrics how nothing will bring America down. In a poem quite similar,
Hannah Schoechert says, Bin Laden tried To crush our land, But we stood our ground, With our
flag in hand. And were still standing. (Lines 6 10)
In both of these examples, the main idea of not backing down is shown quite evidently. In the lyrics
as well as the poem, the meanings are clear, thus making them equal. The

How Food Preservatives affect the growth of Microorganisms?

The purpose of this project is to see which preservative will either slow down the growth of bacteria
or speed up the growth using the three most common preservatives: sugar, salt and, vinegar.
Humans usually have a problem keeping their food safe and clean at the same time to prevent from
getting sick. But what they don t know is that the way they preserve their food can be very
dangerous.
Since the drying effect of salt has been used for thousands of years, it usually takes ... Show more

sick, sending 325,000 to the hospital. That s just in the U.S.; imagine the rest of the world!
Since food is so important for survival, food preservation is the oldest technologies used by
human beings. Boiling, Freezing, Refrigeration, Pasteurizing, Dehydrating, and Pickling are
some of the old technologies. Sugar, Salt, and Nuclear Radiation are being used now as
preservatives. Vacuum Packing and Hypobaric Packing are the modified packing techniques now
that can also be used as preservatives. Chemical preservatives seem to best and the most effective
for a longer shelf life and are generally fool proof for the preservation purpose. * Benzoates (such
as sodium benzoate, benzoic acid) * Nitrites (such as sodium nitrite) * Sulphites (such as sulphur
dioxide), * Sorbates (such as sodium sorbate, potassium sorbate|
All of these chemicals act as antimicrobials. They either stop the activity of or kill the bacteria,
molds, insects and other microorganisms. Antimicrobials prevent the growth of molds, yeasts and
bacteria and antioxidants keep foods from becoming disgusting or developing black spots. They
suppress the reaction when foods come in contact with oxygen, heat, and some metals. They also
prevent the loss of some essential amino acids some vitamins.
Additives perform a variety of useful functions in foods that are often taken for granted. Since

Ramona Flowers Character Analysis
6630d678cb49bd63469c23feccd6b75b.jpg
There was a time in my life where all I wanted to be was Ramona Flowers. I thought she was so
cool in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with her colored hair, her pithy remarks, and her success at
attracting romantic partners (which is all I wanted as a twelve year old girl.) However, upon
revisiting the concept of Ramona Flowers, I realized how annoying and awful the concept of her is.
(Granted, I am basing this characterization of the movie and not the comics. I m sure they are
different characters.) The concept of Ramona Flowers is completely subservient to the male desires.
She completely represents the pseudo strong female who all the guys desperately want, but can t
have; however, in actuality, Ramona Flowers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Green s debut novel Looking for Alaska and his later novel, Paper Towns, directly points to
the flaws with this sort of adulation and infantilization of mental disorders. In Looking for Alaska,
Pudge is in love (see: infatuated) with the idea of Alaska: a mysterious, rebellious teenage girl.
However, throughout the novel, Green constantly points to Alaska s depressive and suicidal
tendencies: smoking, drinking excessively, attention through sex, and other self destructive
behaviors. Even though to the reader these obvious red flags flash violently on every page,
Pudge transforms Alaska into this perfect manic pixie dream girl, instead of a depressed
teenager who desperately needs help. In the end, this ignorance towards Alaska s obvious
problems leads to her suicide. Furthermore, in Paper Towns, Q becomes obsessed with Margo s
cool, don t give a crap attitude and willingness to have wild (and illegal) adventures. This
perceived notion of the perfect manic pixie dream girl led him to search for her all over the
place; yet, when he finds her, he becomes disillusioned to her facade and she s her for who she
really is: inconsiderate and afraid. The same serves for Summer in 500 Days of Summer and Penny
Lane in Almost Famous: the male character becomes obsessed with their quirks and instabilities,
but fail to see the troubled person inside. When they

Gut Microbiomes
The article s main focus was on the gut microbiome, whilst incorporating its relevance to precision
medicine. By analyzing the microbiomes composition and function, the near future could include
personalized patient specific diagnostics and therapeutics. Microbiome research entails the complex
ecosystem of microorganisms who reside on or within the human body whose genome outnumbers
that of the host and effects physiological functions. Though this research marks progression, there
are limitations and challenges presented by the fact that there is variability among individuals.
Overall, the research concerning the second genome, or gut microbiome, is altering medicinefor the

Modern Day Drivers Research Paper
Since the dawn of motorized transportation, the modern world has utilized its convenience of
interconnectivity. As subsequent generations utilize the vehicle s convenience, more drivers
populate roadways and inherently increase the risk of traffic incidents due to inattentiveness and
excessive speed. These modern day drivers are protected by the safety systems of the vehicles and
roads, driver education and enforced trafficlaws. Law enforcement currently relies on speed traps,
guilty conscience and traffic calming measures to control traffic safety. In the face of this current
technological world, these methods of enforcement prove to be non uniform and unreliable. With

Even though the importance of such may be unknown, drivers understand that lawful speed
limits exist at least from the day they earn their permit. From a national survey conducted by the
National Highway Safety and Traffic Association, 30% of drivers strongly agreed that there is
no excuse to exceed the posted limit; 18% somewhat agreed. Likewise, 67% strongly agreed and
24% somewhat agreed that everyone should obey the speed limit because it s the law [1, 34].
Drivers want to respect speeding laws because it they trust other drivers will do the same, but
whether the drivers actually choose to obey the laws is another story. From the same survey, the
most frequent reasons for speeding were 35% for being late, 31% for emergencies, 10% for not
paying attention, 7% for being in a hurry and 7% for keeping up with traffic flow [1, 43]. Drivers
of this fast paced nation may sometimes set aside their judgment and break the law to meet its
demands. Enforcement of speed regulations is directed to protect all drivers with uniform
limitations. We all know that this doesn t happen. These are ideal systems. So what s the real

Comparing An Irish Airman Foresees His Death by WB Yeats...
Comparing An Irish Airman Foresees His Death by WB Yeats and Anthem for Doomed Youth by
Wilfred Owen
WB Yeats was an extremely successful Irish poet who was extraordinarily patriotic and proud to be
Irish. He played his part in the Irish Renaissance at the beginning of the 1900s. Although he was a
proud Irishman he chose to show his patriotism through his poetry instead of political or military
action. Through his poems he spoke of national heroes bravery and well doings instead of their
political status or where they stood in society. He praised people who did things for a cause or
beliefs; for example he described the Easter Rising as a terrible beauty . WB Yeats scarcely wrote
about war but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He became more of a passivist after this meeting. This was evident in many of his poems and his
abhorrence of war became stronger. Owen used his first hand trench experiences to portray war
as pointless and a waste of life and his newly adopted passivist attitude helped this along. Many
times these statements showed bitterness and hatred towards the authorities and people sending
this Youth off to war to die. In one of his poems he tries to show the reader that if they had seen
what he had, they would not speak of the glory of dying for your country, as he believed there was
none. He was killed by machine gun fire just a month after being awarded the Military Cross.
Whereas Anthem for Doomed Youth outlines his opinion that deaths in war are for a meaningless
cause and the soldiers may as well be cattle dying, as he describes in the first line. He continually
compares death in war with a normal death, which is accompanied by a funeral and other rituals.
He lists all the things that soldiers lack when they die bells, prayers, mourning, candles etc and all
they hear or receive is the continual stuttering rifle s rapid rattle , monstrous anger of the guns and
demented choirs of wailing shells . The message of this poem is that war causes immeasurable loss

Music Education At A Young Age
Today, school districts have been devaluing the importance of music. School districts are forced to
cut spending on music education and replace it with other important classes, such as physical
education. Music classes were the first to be cut because given a small to budget elementary
schools, school officials have seen that music classes were unnecessary to educationand believe that
it has no benefit. I disagree with this statement because I believe it is crucial to have music
educationat a young age. Luckily, when I was in elementary school, there was still music education
and has influenced me to become a musician because music has helped me with school and work.
Having music education allows a child s brainto develop a fully active brain, since music functions
the creative side of the brain. However, studies have shown that music has helped with the left
side of the brain as well, allowing students to build thinking skills and raise test scores such as the
SAT. Music training at a young age helps develop the brain areas that involves language and
reasoning. Studies have shown that music training develops the left side of the brain, which helps
processing language and help recognize patterns and memorization. It is also shown that the left
side of the brain is better developed with music and that can help retain new information in young
minds. A good example of how music helps with new information is the alphabet. The alphabet was

The Ubiquitous Computer
III The Ubiquitous Computer The miniaturization of processors, memory chips and other
essential hardware has unlocked numerous possibilities for the potential usage of computers in
everyday life. Computers take many forms and, while not always noticeable, have an ever
increasing presence in today s world. Wireless technology is becoming more commonplace,
furthering modern computers capabilities and providing us with even more potential uses. The
advent of this technology has made it possible for computers to become less noticeable and even
function unseen while still receiving and emitting data. An increase in the usage of computers in
everyday items has made computers a regular part of society a fact that has begun fueling
privacy concerns. Radio Frequency Identification chips are becoming more common as well.
They are small and inexpensive, making them increasingly useful in numerous applications.
Certain companies have begun using employee ID badges embedded with RFID chips in order
to ascertain the whereabouts of its employee s. This same technology can be found in several
other devices, such as tags for tracking livestock, and in certain retail items in order to prevent
theft. The wireless signals and location tracking abilities enabled by RFID chips have made
privacy conscious individuals more concerned about the general usage of these chips in everyday
products. Some worry that such technology will bring our society closer to a surveillance state,

Confounding bias occurs when two factors are associated and the effect of one is confused with

another; it is the tendency to keep one response consistent with prior response. Next consistency
bias is similar to social desirability bias, except that the latter term refers to a tendency to answer a
given item in a social acceptable. Experimenter bias is when the measurements obtained in a study
are influenced by the experimenter s expectations regarding the outcome of the study. A researcher
knows the predicted outcome of a research study and is in a position to influence the results, either
intentionally or unintentionally. Omitted variable bias is the bias that appears in estimates of

Love In Love And The Relationshipful Aspects Of Love
Throughout life, many individuals are blessed in certain aspects of their lives. These aspects
could be in love, fortunes, or life itself. Although people may be grateful for what they have it is
common that they will take these great aspects for granted. When people take these important
and blessed aspects of their lives for granted it pisses me off. I have been fortunate enough to
have a great life and I have been blessed in many ways. I am always sure to appreciate the people,
materials, and life I have. Unfortunately, I have seen people take their lives for granted, so it is
my goal to try and make these individuals realize the amazing lives they are blessed with.
Relationships types vary with everyone. Some people cling to their significant other while
some prefer the distance. At times it can be hard to find that balance where both individuals are
happy. This challenge in a relationship could lead to poor communication and a lack of effort.
Recently, I have stepped out of a four year relationship because I had finally come to realize how
much I was being taken for granted and not appreciated. I was always the one to make plans or
start the conversation or show the affection that kept the relationship for granted. After I decided to
end the relationship my significant other began to realize what he had lost. He frequently made

Flossing Essay
If you have children, you probably know how difficult it is to get your child to do anything
related to their oral health: brushing, flossing, and dentist visits. While it may not be easy and
your child may not like it proper oral hygiene is important to their health. Once your child has
gotten the hang of brushing, it is time to introduce flossing. If you are wondering how you will get
your child to floss daily and enjoy it, use these four tips to make it happen:
1. Use the Proper Tools
There are all sorts of different tools available for flossing today. You can use a waterpik,
traditional floss, or even the handheld flossers to help your child get the hang of it. As for the floss

your teeth too. You might also want to brush and floss alongside your child. It will help make the

3. Offer Rewards
If there is one thing children like, it s rewards. During the beginning of your flossing adventure,
consider offering your child a reward for good behavior or proper technique. It doesn t have to be
candy or food, you can use toys or stickers as a reward. You can also offer extended playtime,
reading, or TV time, as a reward too.
4. Start Early and Go Slow
Finally, make sure you start instilling good flossing habits early. The younger your child starts, the
better. Starting young will also ensure that they continue the habit throughout their life. In addition,
make sure start slow. Your child may not get the hang of it immediately and that s perfectly
acceptable. Show them the ropes, practice daily, and soon they will be a master at flossing.
Flossing is a crucial part of a good oral hygiene routine. It helps to remove plaque buildup and it
keeps the gums and teeth healthy. If you are trying to introduce flossing into your child s routine,
use these four tips. Additionally, make sure they are visiting a pediatric dentist on a regular

Gender Aspects Of The Sailor Moon And Sailor Moon
Commercials on television for superheroes always had them men doing the saving and then the
women needing to be saved. The very few girl superheroes that were well known were Wonder
Woman, Super Girl and Storm. However, in anime there are a bunch of girls fighting to save the
world and saving the men. Sailor Moonis on top of the list when it comes to girl power, being
released in 1992, and Sailor MoonCrystal was released in 2014. Sailor moon was seen by some
critics as sexualized, but others argue that it isn t as bad as some of the other animes that were
released after Sailor Moon. Girl superheroes in anime were a mix of being sexy and cute, and the
sexy in Sailor Moon was just a bunch of short skirts, high heels, and a small amount of cleavage.
Sailor Moon challenged the norms in Japan when it came to genderroles, sexual orientation and
presentation of womanhood.
At an early age, girls were pushed to follow gender roles especially when it was in the early
1990s. It was something different to see on the television screens girls fighting and challenging
gender roles. In Sailor Moon, the audience witness a reverse role with the girls being the heroes,
even though the male character Tuxedo Mask can also be a hero, his role was minimal because it
was the sailor scouts that did most, if not all of the work. Victoria Newsom in her critical essay said

Investigating the Kinetics of the reaction between Iodide ions and Peroxodisulphate (VI) ions
By the use of an Iodine clock reaction I hope to obtain the length of time taken for Iodine ions (in
potassium iodide) to react fully with Peroxodisulphate ions (in potassium Peroxodisulphate). I will
do three sets of experiments changing first the concentration of iodide ions, then the concentration
of Peroxodisulphate ions and finally the temperature of the solution in which the reaction is taking
place. From these results, I hope to draw conclusions as to the effects of these changes to the
environment of the reaction on the rate and also determine the order of the reaction and the
activation enthalpy.

Effect of Temperature
A basic law of physical chemistry is that an increase in temperature causes an increase in the rate of
any reaction. As the collision theory states, for a reaction to take place the particles need to collide.
If the temperature is increased, each particle has greater kinetic energy transferred from the heat
energy, and therefore is moving faster (the average speed of molecules is proportional to the square
root of the absolute temperature.) The faster the particles are moving, the more likely they are to
collide and therefore the faster the reaction. Also, the more energy transferred to each particle due
to increased temperature the more likely it is to surmount the activation enthalpy and again the
higher the number of effective collisions. As a general rule, the rate of a reaction doubles for every
increase of 10K in temperature.
The diagram below demonstrates the effect of temperature on the rate of a reaction. Despite the
initial increase in the energy of particles of a lower temperature, one can see that those at a higher
temperature eventually surpass and lead to an overall higher amount of particles with energy higher
than the activation enthalpy and therefore a greater number of effective collisions.
The exact relationship between temperature and rate of reaction was first proposed by a Swedish
chemist called Arrhenius in

Technology (ICMART), infertility is defined clinically as a disease of the reproductive system
characterized by a failure to achieve successful pregnancy after twelve months or more of regular
unprotected sexual intercourse.4
Reproduction either in vivo or in vitro is dependent on the presence of viable gametes (sperm and
ovum), a successful sperm to ovum interaction; fertilization and an effective implantation of the
fertilized ovum onto the endometrial wall of the uterus.3 In a study carried out in south western
Nigeria, the common causes of infertility were: tubal factor (39.5%), uterine factor (30%), and
ovarian factor (13%).5 Other causes included cervical factor (3%), pelvic inflammatory disease
PID (5.5%), and endometriosis (2.5%).5
In vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment offers the highest pregnancy rate irrespective of the cause of
infertility.6 The first successful IVF procedure was documented by Dr Edwards and Dr Steptoe in
1978, where ova and sperm were

Overfishing And Its Effects On The Ocean
Overfishing Leads to a Worldwide Oceanic Ecological Collapse People often take the ocean for
granted due to its vastness since it makes up over seventy percent of the Earth, however the
integrity of the ocean is deteriorating. One of the major, worldwide threats to the wellbeing of the
ocean and its inhabitants is overfishing. Overfishing affects not only the ocean, but also the land
dwellers. Many countries around the world depend on fishas their main source of food. Tons of fish
are caught out of the sea daily, however, the rate that fish are being hauled is far too high where
fish stocks are incapable of naturally recovering. There is a decline in population size of affected
fish and some species have even faced extinction. Overfishing is the leading cause of ecological
extinction, foregoing any other human disruptions to marine ecosystems, such as pollution, water
degradation, and climate change (Jackson, et al). Overfishing causes an overwhelming
devastation upon the oceans because it depletes food resources, disrupts the food web, and
destroys habitats of aquatic organisms, due to this, overfishing causes an oceanic ecological
collapse worldwide. Overfishing is not a problem that has recently arise, but a problem that started
since the early 1800s. Overfishing first began when people sought for blubber for lamp oil, which
lead to a decline in whale population. By the mid 1900s, some fish were almost wiped out, such as
the Atlantic cod, herring, and sardines

Social Implication Of Lung Cancer
Thinking about Stigma: How Negative Stereotypes Affect Lung Cancer Patients
Over the past decades, lung cancer has become the leading cancer killer in the United States,
causing more deaths than colon, prostate and breasts cancers combined. However, unlike other
forms of cancer, the funding, support and awareness associated with lung cancer have remained the
lowest. According to the National Cancer Institute, the amount of money received for breast cancer
research is tenfold the one received by lung cancer although the mortality rates are by far the
highest. This disparity, certainly explained by the overall low survival rates and lack of knowledge
surrounding the disease, stems from the pervasive and negative stigma associated ... Show more

Generally speaking, HRS ascribed to controllable factors (including tobacco and drug abuse)
result in much more negative reactions than uncontrollable genetic factors. (Lebel and Devins,
2008 ; Weiner et al., 1988). Hence, over the past decade, the stigmatization of smokers has also
been reinforced by the assumptions that smokers choose for their own health condition, are less
educated and that second hand smoke might harm children. Consequently, this particular
relationship between the public and smoking has led to far reaching consequences at the public
and personal level. As mentioned previously, lung cancer patients do not receive as much
support, resources, care and public empathy as other forms of cancers. In fact, the stigma has
contributed to the disease s important funding gap as it has adversely affected the efforts put
into the diagnosis, access to care and research of lung cancer given that people do not want to
support the disease as much as other forms of cancers. In fact, unlike breast cancer, lung cancer,
also known as the Invisible Cancer has received very low exposure and hasn t been able to market
its own pink ribbon. As a result, the effects of the stigma also impact the patient himself. According
to a recent survey, 95% of lung cancer patients reported stigma while 48% of them even felt
stigmatized by their own medical providers due to the fact their disease is so strongly attached to
smoking. In fact, lung cancer patients tend to internalise these negative stereotypes

My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained valuable
information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this self evaluation I will be
describing the1 3 and 6 9 competencies I set up at the beginning of the semester and see if I have
achieved these skills. I will also address the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout
this semester. For competency one on processional and ethical practice I wanted to demonstrate
having a professional behavior, communication, boundaries, and writing skills throughout the
semester. I also wanted to provide integrity, competence, core values, services, dignity, and worth
in the agency and my clients. In addition being aware of the mandating reporting, parental consent,
and legal consent in the school setting. I feel the growth in this competency I have gained a lot by
the agency in proving lots of training, group supervision, and individual supervision has not only
broaden my skills but have gained valuable knowledge of what to do in certain situations. For some
of the challenges I encounter at the beginning was learningabout mandating reporting and how
much work it goes into calling, summiting the paperwork all this is a curial aspect when doing a
CWS report. For example, when doing my first mandated report my supervisor stayed and walk
me through each step to make sure I did it correctly which was wonderful and learned the right
way to do a mandated report.

Motorcycle, Membership, And Belonging Summary And Analysis
Kinship is an area we talked about extensively in class because it represents a huge part of many
people s lives. This ideal is found throughout and delegates the lives of many individuals
throughout thousands of cultures. In Motorcycles, Membership, and Belonging McCurdy says
that if an Indian couple were to come to the United States for the first time they might be,
surprised by [the lack of] American social relations. (McCurdy 2014:209) In this essay I will be
describing how American views on kinship and social relations vary from those of Indians through
both personal experience and learned information. First lets highlight what kind of roles kinship
and social relations play in the lives of these potential Indian tourists. Kinship groups, to Indians,
are an essential part of life; kinship is something that makes various decisions for an individuals
life, some of those include: who you marry, what you inherit, and your level of status in the family.
Throughout most of India, people use patrilineal descent to establish kinship; this means that
only males are part of the descent group. In this kind of descent extended family is an integral
part of an individuals life because many generations all live together under one roof. For
example, one may grow up in a household with their grandparents, uncles and their wives and
children, and even older brother s wives and kids. This way of life keeps familial land and
resources all under one roof rather than spreading

Comparative Advantage Of Blassa Index
It is important that a country specialize in the commodity in which it poses a comparatives
advantage over others. In order to identify the strong sector in the economy, the actual trade flows
was analyzed. This idea was later improvised and refined by Bela Balassa and gave his famous
Balassa Index.
This index is commonly used in International Economics to calculate the relative advantage or
disadvantage that a country poses in a certain class of goods and services. The value of the index
shows the revealed comparative advantage of a country in good. The Balassa Index is
fundamentally a standardized export share. Which implies that if the BI if balsa index for country

Through the Balassa index it was found that the value of RCA for Indian pharmaceutical export is
2.61 which is more than 1 that signifies that India has a comparative advantage over ASEAN which

Hence the Balassa index showed that India posses a higher degree of advantage in export of
pharmaceuticals, thus it should specialize in this sector and generate income.
Figure 3
The above figure shows the export trend of pharmaceuticals from Indian market to the world.
The highest export was recorded in financial year 2015 16. Despite of the fall in subsequent year
it still maintained it power in the global market. India enjoys relative advantage in this sector,
which is been calculated by the Balassa index. The strength of the exports has been compared
with overall export of the ASEAN. As Indian pharmaceutical sector was growing similarly the
pharmaceutical sector of ASEAN was flourishing which was making it an attractive for JAPAN
and United States the sales from this sector was more than 20 billion us dollar by end of the

A Review of Therapists Integration of Religion and...
Summary
In this meta analysis of integration of spirituality and religion in the counseling field, the authors
seek to understand the skills and attitudes needed to integrate these variables into counseling.
Among those that were studied are awareness of one s own culture and heritage, respect for the
diversity found in people concerning spirituality and religion and recognition of one s helping style
and how it may be perceived by clients (Walker, Gorsuch, Tan, 2004).
A difficulty that has occurred commonly is that a definition of spirituality cannot be agreed on. In a
broad explanation of both religion as well as spirituality, religion constitutes the organization of faith
, implementing prayer, ministry and theology. Spirituality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An explanation of use of correlation studies in meta analysis explains that often by doing so is to
create conservative estimates or a down ward bias. This means that statistics presented in this meta
analysis may actually be higher than actual calculations prove.
Inquiries that seemed relevant for this study included personal religious and spiritual beliefs of
therapists, how therapists use their personal religious and spiritual beliefs in their use of explicit
integration therapies, and comparison in samples that encompassed explicit integration therapists
with samples that mixed secular and religious therapists as well as diverse professional
backgrounds that may lead to more or less acceptance of various cultures (Walker et al., 2004, p.
72). These queries touch on the various cultures, religions, beliefs and ideologies that encompass
the United States and how important it is for psychologists and counselors to have proper training
when using religion and spirituality in order to acknowledge and respect all philosophies.
Reflection
This article states that 90% of Americans claim a Protestant or Catholic religious affiliation
(Walker et al., 2004, p. 70). While not all Americans attend an organized church or practice
Christian rituals such as prayer or reading the Bible at any given time, spirituality is very much an
influence in our country. As a nation that found its

Sarbanes Oxley Act And Its Effect On Businesses

research conducted on online (Internet) and offline (non Internet) relationships and their
relationship to the Sarbanes Oxley Act. In 2002 the Sarbanes Oxley Act passed by the U.S.
Congress to protect shareholders and the general public from accounting errors and fraudulent

It was enacted as a reaction to a number of major corporate and accounting scandals, including
Enron, and Worldcom. The sections of the bill cover responsibilities of a public corporation s
board of directors, adds criminal penalties for certain misconduct, and required the Securities and
Exchange Commission to create regulations to define how public corporations are to comply with
the law.
As a result of SOX, top management must individually certify the accuracy of financial
information. In addition, penalties for fraudulent financial activity are much more severe. Also,
SOX increased the oversight role of boards of directors and the independence of the outside
auditors who review the accuracy of corporate financial statements.[1]
The act was approved by the House by a vote of 423 in favor, 3 opposed, and 8 abstaining and by
the Senate with a vote of 99 in favor and 1 abstaining. President George W. Bush signed it into
law, stating it included the most far reaching reforms of American business practices since the
time of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The era of low standards and false profits is over; no boardroom
in America is above or beyond the law. [2] (Kimmel, PhD, CPA, Paul D.; Weygandt, PhD, CPA,

Soccer! Why is it something that can shape character as an adult?
It was seven o clock in the morning on a Sunday afternoon. The sun was already peeking through
my window. I could feel the warmth of the sun as it was shining on my face. Lying there, I
listened to the sounds that only someone who was up at that time of the morning on a Sunday,
could hear. I listened as my neighbors cut their grass. I heard birds chirping, as if they were
speaking to me. Teresa, get up! Today is the big day . It wasn t normal for me as a teenager, to

Looking back, I remember this moment as if it were yesterday. It seemed as if all my senses were
heightened. I can still remember the smell of the fresh cut grass, the freshly chalked lines, the feel
of the sun beating down on my exposed skin and the sounds of all the younger kids playing in
the back ground. More importantly though, I remember the way I felt when I first saw my
teammates. I felt a great sense of happiness. Additionally, I felt warm inside, a sense of
excitement, loved, needed, and wanted. Even though I had my biological family, I also had a
second family in them. This was my Sunday family. That game, that day, was one of our biggest
games! Not only was it against our biggest rival but the winner went on to play in the state
championship. The team we were playing had beaten us twice and we had beaten them twice as
well. We were evenly matched at every level, but still, I felt nervous, anxious, scared and even
excited. As a goalie, I knew that a lot of the important aspects of the game rested directly on my
shoulders, a feat to which I gladly accepted.
Finally, after what felt like a lifetime, the whistle blew. This indicated that the game had begun. We
had ninety minutes to show everyone, including ourselves, why we were the better team. As the
game progressed, it became apparent that I was struggling in my position. I had let two goals go

Symptoms And Treatment Of Depression Essay

Student Self-Assessment Reflection

Student Self Assessment Reflection
When creating a self assessment for Student N, I wanted to generate a self assessment that would
be clear, simple, and provide beneficial information for myself and the student. The goal of my self
assessment was to involve the student in identifying their own thoughts and feelings towards reading
, discover areas of strength and improvement, and encourage self reflection of their learning. The
student was asked to circle thumbs up (always), thumbs middle (sometimes), and thumbs down
(not yet). I prefer using the term not yet because it shifts the attitude as a work in progress versus a
failure. After allowing the student to complete the self assessment privately, I was able to sit down
with them, take notes, and have a mini conference to dive deeper into their responses.
For the statements, I enjoy reading books and I think reading is very important, Student N circled
thumbs up. This reflects that the student has a positive attitude when it comes to reading.
Student N also circled a thumbs up for the statement, I enjoy reading at home. I asked the student
if they read a lot at home and they responded with, I don t really read a lot at home. I like video
games and watching TV. I was interested in when or if the student reads at home and what they
liked about it. Student N talked about how they enjoy reading bedtime stories sometimes. By
their response, I could tell that they preferred reading at home when It involved another family
member versus reading on their own. The student also gave thumbs up responses to I think I m a
good reader and I don t have a problem finding books to read. Student N seems confident in their
reading and is aware of what they enjoy reading.
Student N gave a thumbs middle for I am comfortable reading aloud in class. I shared with him
that even as a teacher I am not always comfortable reading in front of people. Student N also
shared that sometimes they are comfortable, but it just depends on what they are reading. This
will help me build our classroom culture and reflect on how we respect and respond to peers when
they are reading or if they make a mistake. I want all students to feel comfortable practicing their

  • 2. Solution Of Ocean Pollution 3 Jordan Horn Problem/Solution Mr. Kucharik Oceanic Waste The ocean is a vast, and magnificent body of water; it stretches for miles all over the world. In truth, 71 percent of the earth is water covered, moreover, 96.5 percent of all the water contained within the Earth is ocean water (water.usgs.gov). Comprised within these bodies of water the Indian, Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans, are millions of sea animals. These animals alike are at a high danger risk, due to waste and debris throughout these oceans, such as, plastic, metal, rubber, and other man made debris. Animals throughout the seas have an extensive variety of space to explore and inhabit; although, not all animals within the sea inhabit the same areas. In actuality, certain animals are, in a way, designated to a location, and/or ocean depth, and distance from the shore. However, even though these animals inhabit dissimilar areas, the oceanic pollution and waste build up affects all animals within these massive masses of water, and it is up to us, as human beings, to interrupt this situation. For example, an estimation states that 100,000 marine creatures die, each year from plastic entanglement, furthermore, these are just the animals that are recovered (www.oceancrusaders.org pg 1). Likewise, one million seabirds have been affected by plastic waste (www.oceancrusaders.org pg 1). We as humans are seeing affects by these problems as well, for instance, in 2009 (the ... • 3. The Beach Boys Poem Analysis Hopping into the car or closing the bedroom door, turning up the music, relaxing, and being alone. Both Stephen Dunn and the Beach Boys wrote about their places of relaxation where they go to get away from all the problems in their lives. Stephen Dunn, who wrote The Sacred, was married and later got divorced. He could have written this poem when he was grieving that and did not want to interact with anyone else. His car was probably the place he went to have privacy and quiet, at times like that. Brian Wilson, who wrote In My Room for The Beach Boys, wrote the poem after battling drugs, alcohol, abuse, and mental illness for years. The poem could have a lot to do with what he felt like while he was going through everything. He probably... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Sacred, the word car is repeated to emphasize that it is a place where people feel safe and show how important it is for everyone to have a place to be themselves. A sacred place is peaceful and it is a place where people do not have to be afraid. One student says that his sacred place is his car, and then gives all the reasons why his car is so important to him (Dunn 2). Before each reason he repeats the car, because he is pointing out and emphasizing that his sacred place is his car (Dunn 4). He can go there when he needs time to think and he enjoys being in it alone (Dunn 6). After he says his opinion about his car, the car [keeps] coming up (...) / [because] others kn[o]w the truth ha[s] been spoken (Dunn 7, 10). The other students agree that their cars are a place where they can feel protected too. They agree that the car is important because it is a great place to be alone, to forget about everything else, and to just have time to oneself. Repetition in the poem In My Room is used in a similar way for the same reason. After listing each reason why he feels secure in his room, the person repeats twice that the room is his. By repeating that a total of six times, he stresses that his room is a special place, where he won t be afraid because he can lock out/ all [his] worries and (...) fears when he is in there (The Beach Boys 6 7, 12 13). His room is the only place where he feels safe. It is the only place that he can have to himself without worrying about anything else, so it is really important to him. In both poems repetition is used to draw attention to the place where those people feel most secure. It is used to show how important it is for everyone to have a place like that for himself or ... • 4. A New Approach to Art A NEW APPROACH I continue to get further away from the usual artists tools; easel, palette, brushes. I prefer sticks, trowels, knives and dripping fluid paint. My feeling is new needs need new techniques. It seems to me the modern painter cannot express this age the airplane, the atom bomb, the radio in the old forms of the Renaissance or any other past culture. Jackson Pollock (1950) It is apparent from the quote mentioned above that Art has undergone rapid transformation from the 20th century. Everything had been declared a fair game. Almost anything and everything was considered as art. 20th century art had played a pivotal role in defying conventions. Besides this art was no longer restricted to things that looked aesthetically appealing but was far beyond that. Artworks were no longer perceived as static objects with a singular meaning. Artists challenged the very old definition of art by adding or rather including a lot more to it. Art was no longer restricted to something that is visually appealing but also to something that addressed a variety of issues. They believed in using art as a platform in representing or addressing multiple socio political, cultural and community based issues. Also, their work expanded far beyond the institutional confines of the gallery or museum space. Artists have now produced a variety of works whose meaning cannot be understood otherwise because their context is very crucial to the piece of art. Many times the collection ... • 5. Why Is Flagellation Should Be Allowed In Schools As I was growing up, my mom would tell me stories when they would use the wooden paddle in school. She would tell me that they would spank her friends when they would behave bad. She also told me that there was this kid they spanked so hard that they heard the kid sobbing and squealing. Flagellation should be allowed in some schools, because some kids don t have respect or manners in schooland by that they should learn by getting paddled. Because some parents don t punish their kids and that s what makes kids behave bad and they have to learn by getting paddled. And I think that it would help some parents by straightening their kids up a little. The reason they should do this again in schools is because some kids don t have the respect they ... • 6. Obesity Is A Disease Characterized By Excessive Body Fat Obesity is a disease characterized by excessive body fat. People who are medically obese usually are affected by behavior, genetic and environmental factors that are difficult to control with dieting. Obesity increases the likelihood of certain diseases especially cardiovascular disorders and diabetes. Obesity has become a pandemic nowadays. In the Indian scenario, even with the growing awareness about health and fitness, more than 3 percent (3 crores) of the Indian population is obese. Our study aims to determine the association of BMIwith cardiac output, forearm and calf blood flow in healthy young male adults. Our results are consistent with our hypothesis. Cardiac output was found to be significantly more in obese subjects compared to overweight and normal BMI group. Similar results were found in other studies too. Obese individuals have expanded central blood volume. In addition, stroke volume and cardiac output are both increased. These changes in blood volume and cardiac output are most likely due to the increased metabolic demand that result from increases in both lean and fat mass. The large fat depots in significant obesity produce a low resistance vascular circuit that may further increase cardiac output. There may also be changes in renal absorption of salt and water. The combination of these factors is proposed to produce a form of volume overload which can give rise to high output failure later. [24][25] Another study revealed that obese patients demonstrated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte DArthur A knight s role in society during the middle ages is to be a sacrificial pawn to the king. During the medieval times, the knight class is under the king and lords classes; however, they were also within the nobility rank. In exchange for land and food, they are obligated to assist and support their lordand king. They must be physically and mentally prepared to forfeit their lives when they fight for and protect their lord no matter the occasion. According to the code of chivalry, they must serve their king and remain loyal always. In addition, a chevalier cannot act on their own accord if the consequences include betrayal of the king, thus they must remain selfless. All the chevaliers have their flaws; however, the other three knights... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the fact that Sir Gawain and Sir Launcelot had a poor relationship, he has asked for Sir Launcelot s assistance because he understands that Sir Launcelot is the flower of the knighthood, and an essential key to protecting his king since he is unable to complete the task himself (Malory 221). In spite of Sir Gawain exerted the efforts of writing to Sir Launcelot, Sir Launcelot never appeared on the battlefield. Although Sir Bedivere has been with King Arthur during the fight with Sir Modred, does not necessarily mean he is more chivalrous and loyal than Sir Launcelot. As instructed by King Arthur, Sir Bedivere were to take the sword Excalibur to the shore of the lake and throw in the water (Malory 340 1). In response to his wish, Sir Bedivere decided to deceive the king and claim that he has seen nothing when he threw the sword into the water. Lies reached the king ears twice such as seeing only the wind upon the waves and the lapping of the waves (Malory 348 354). Automatically, King Arthur knew Sir Bedivere has been dishonest with him and states, twice you have betrayed me (Malory 355). Sir Bedivere allowed his greed to lead him astray from the code of chivalry. Corresponding with the code of chivalry, he must live to serve the king, live to defend the crown and country and all it holds dear and obey the law of the king. He has broken all these laws by becoming a priest like the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. How Does Shakespeare Use Blood Imagery In Macbeth Shakespeare s classic tragedy, Macbeth, embodies aspects of literature that are still relevant to writing today and puts them to perfect use. The tragic play is superfluous with outstanding examples of prestigious writing and literary devises that all work together to set the tone and develop various themes. The ingenious writer included several different types of imagery throughout the infamous play to greater impact its audience and the development of its characters. Shakespeare uses blood, animal, and dark imagery in order to contribute to the downfall of the tragic hero, Macbeth. Blood imagery is used frequently in Macbeth to show the killings, and guilt during Macbeth s downfall. Towards the end of the play, Shakespeare uses Lady Macbeth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tragic hero s downfall can easily be paralleled against the idea of darkness encompassing the haunting and negative tolls taken on Macbeth due to bloodshed and fear. Toward the beginning of the play, Macbeth asks, Let not light see my black and deep desires (1.4.53). By this, Macbeth is begging that the stars and light be gone in order to disguise his true desires of power, bloodlust, and murder. Shakespeare uses darkness throughout the play to illustrate Macbeth s inner turmoil, but uses light to depict Banquo s inner peace, thus making them foils. Banquo is in desperation for lightness when stating, Hold, take my sword. There s husbandry in heaven; / Their candles are all out (2.1.4 5), unlike Macbeth who is desperate for complete darkness. The pair s requests mirror the depths of their true personalities of Banquo s good verses Macbeth s evil. In a critical article, L.C. Knights determined that The main theme of the reversal of values is given out simply and clearly in the first scene Fair is foul, and foul is fair ; and with it are associated premonitions of the conflict, disorder and moral darkness into which Macbeth will plunge himself. • 9. Theme Of Rape Of The Lock Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. In the The Rape of the Lock there is an invocation to Muses, intention of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, and journey on water, underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject produces comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced the episodes of the game of Omber which suggests the powerful battle and the cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is also the battle between lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this battle is fought with fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight between Belinda and Baron and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another very important element of an epic is the active participation of supernatural machinery like god and goddesses. In The Rape of the Lock, there are sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits are small and unimportant things and are therefore, exactly in keeping with the triviality of the theme. These aerial spirits guards the person of the heroine that is Belinda and when there is fight between the flowers of Belinda and those of the Baron, they take part in the fight like god and goddesses in war. Pope described the protecting sylph under Ariel. In that the sylphs are the lampoon of epic deities. A long dangerous journey on water is a must in an epic. These periods expand on previous era and lead to more detail and dramatic artwork. Sculpture s of human figure s gained intensity with each era. During these periods, human figure s particularly male figure s was considered as incredible art objects by the Greeks. Additionally, they were more fascinated by male sculptures than female sculptures. They made enormous beautiful sculptures in male form making them appear very tall and strong .For example The Hero and Centaur from Olympia Greece, around 750 730 BCE, which now stand in Metropolitan Museum of art in New York City. That statue represents a man and a centaur, part man and part horse locked in a hand and hand battle. The artist makes the centaur as a man in font and a horse in the back. Every time I look into a mirror I replay that moment, and see that guy who said those things and I could tell it did not bother him one bit. As the lyrics from the song You Want A Battle? ( Heres a War) state, your words cut deep.../ I will not take this anymore/ These words will not be ignored/ you want a battle/ here s a war (Bullet For My Valentine 2015). When a bully bullies an individual you have to learn to stand up for yourself, tell someone, let people know you are being bullied so that you do not have to continue feeling worthless because of a single ignorant comment. The Ubiquitous Computer III The Ubiquitous Computer The miniaturization of processors, memory chips and other essential hardware has unlocked numerous possibilities for the potential usage of computers in everyday life. Computers take many forms and, while not always noticeable, have an ever increasing presence in today s world. Wireless technology is becoming more commonplace, furthering modern computers capabilities and providing us with even more potential uses. The advent of this technology has made it possible for computers to become less noticeable and even function unseen while still receiving and emitting data. An increase in the usage of computers in everyday items has made computers a regular part of society a fact that has begun fueling privacy concerns. Radio Frequency Identification chips are becoming more common as well. They are small and inexpensive, making them increasingly useful in numerous applications. Certain companies have begun using employee ID badges embedded with RFID chips in order to ascertain the whereabouts of its employee s. This same technology can be found in several other devices, such as tags for tracking livestock, and in certain retail items in order to prevent theft. The wireless signals and location tracking abilities enabled by RFID chips have made privacy conscious individuals more concerned about the general usage of these chips in everyday products. He had tried the journey years before but had to retreat. This time, he believed he had reached the North Pole. Or had he? How would he know? 2As a Smithsonian historian explains, it can be difficult to know when you have reached the North Pole because it lies on drifting sea ice . . . there is no way to mark the spot, because the ice is constantly moving. Years ago, when Peary traveled, it was difficult to confirm exact measurements. Peary marked his position by noting shadows made by the sun. Although people may be grateful for what they have it is common that they will take these great aspects for granted. When people take these important and blessed aspects of their lives for granted it pisses me off. I have been fortunate enough to have a great life and I have been blessed in many ways. I am always sure to appreciate the people, materials, and life I have. Unfortunately, I have seen people take their lives for granted, so it is my goal to try and make these individuals realize the amazing lives they are blessed with. Relationships types vary with everyone. Some people cling to their significant other while some prefer the distance. At times it can be hard to find that balance where both individuals are happy. This challenge in a relationship could lead to poor communication and a lack of effort. Recently, I have stepped out of a four year relationship because I had finally come to realize how much I was being taken for granted and not appreciated. I was always the one to make plans or start the conversation or show the affection that kept the relationship for granted. After I decided to end the relationship my significant other began to realize what he had lost. Offer Rewards If there is one thing children like, it s rewards. During the beginning of your flossing adventure, consider offering your child a reward for good behavior or proper technique. It doesn t have to be candy or food, you can use toys or stickers as a reward. You can also offer extended playtime, reading, or TV time, as a reward too. 4. Start Early and Go Slow Finally, make sure you start instilling good flossing habits early. The younger your child starts, the better. Starting young will also ensure that they continue the habit throughout their life. In addition, make sure start slow. Your child may not get the hang of it immediately and that s perfectly acceptable. Show them the ropes, practice daily, and soon they will be a master at flossing. Sailor moon was seen by some critics as sexualized, but others argue that it isn t as bad as some of the other animes that were released after Sailor Moon. Girl superheroes in anime were a mix of being sexy and cute, and the sexy in Sailor Moon was just a bunch of short skirts, high heels, and a small amount of cleavage. Sailor Moon challenged the norms in Japan when it came to genderroles, sexual orientation and presentation of womanhood. At an early age, girls were pushed to follow gender roles especially when it was in the early 1990s. It was something different to see on the television screens girls fighting and challenging gender roles. I will do three sets of experiments changing first the concentration of iodide ions, then the concentration of Peroxodisulphate ions and finally the temperature of the solution in which the reaction is taking place. From these results, I hope to draw conclusions as to the effects of these changes to the environment of the reaction on the rate and also determine the order of the reaction and the activation enthalpy. Background information The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Effect of Temperature A basic law of physical chemistry is that an increase in temperature causes an increase in the rate of any reaction. As the collision theory states, for a reaction to take place the particles need to collide. If the temperature is increased, each particle has greater kinetic energy transferred from the heat energy, and therefore is moving faster (the average speed of molecules is proportional to the square root of the absolute temperature.) The faster the particles are moving, the more likely they are to collide and therefore the faster the reaction. Also, the more energy transferred to each particle due to increased temperature the more likely it is to surmount the activation enthalpy and again the higher the number of effective collisions. As a general rule, the rate of a reaction doubles for every increase of 10K in temperature. The diagram below demonstrates the effect of temperature on the rate of a reaction. Despite the initial increase in the energy of particles of a lower temperature, one can see that those at a higher temperature eventually surpass and lead to an overall higher amount of particles with energy higher than the activation enthalpy and therefore a greater number of effective collisions. The exact relationship between temperature and rate of reaction was first proposed by a Swedish chemist called Arrhenius in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Overfishing And Its Effects On The Ocean Overfishing Leads to a Worldwide Oceanic Ecological Collapse People often take the ocean for granted due to its vastness since it makes up over seventy percent of the Earth, however the integrity of the ocean is deteriorating. One of the major, worldwide threats to the wellbeing of the ocean and its inhabitants is overfishing. Overfishing affects not only the ocean, but also the land dwellers. Many countries around the world depend on fishas their main source of food. Tons of fish are caught out of the sea daily, however, the rate that fish are being hauled is far too high where fish stocks are incapable of naturally recovering. There is a decline in population size of affected fish and some species have even faced extinction. Overfishing is the leading cause of ecological extinction, foregoing any other human disruptions to marine ecosystems, such as pollution, water degradation, and climate change (Jackson, et al). Overfishing causes an overwhelming devastation upon the oceans because it depletes food resources, disrupts the food web, and destroys habitats of aquatic organisms, due to this, overfishing causes an oceanic ecological collapse worldwide. Overfishing is not a problem that has recently arise, but a problem that started since the early 1800s. Overfishing first began when people sought for blubber for lamp oil, which lead to a decline in whale population. Consequently, this particular relationship between the public and smoking has led to far reaching consequences at the public and personal level. As mentioned previously, lung cancer patients do not receive as much support, resources, care and public empathy as other forms of cancers. In fact, the stigma has contributed to the disease s important funding gap as it has adversely affected the efforts put into the diagnosis, access to care and research of lung cancer given that people do not want to support the disease as much as other forms of cancers. (McCurdy 2014:209) In this essay I will be describing how American views on kinship and social relations vary from those of Indians through both personal experience and learned information. First lets highlight what kind of roles kinship and social relations play in the lives of these potential Indian tourists. Kinship groups, to Indians, are an essential part of life; kinship is something that makes various decisions for an individuals life, some of those include: who you marry, what you inherit, and your level of status in the family. Throughout most of India, people use patrilineal descent to establish kinship; this means that only males are part of the descent group. In this kind of descent extended family is an integral part of an individuals life because many generations all live together under one roof. That game, that day, was one of our biggest games! Not only was it against our biggest rival but the winner went on to play in the state championship. The team we were playing had beaten us twice and we had beaten them twice as well. We were evenly matched at every level, but still, I felt nervous, anxious, scared and even excited. As a goalie, I knew that a lot of the important aspects of the game rested directly on my shoulders, a feat to which I gladly accepted. Finally, after what felt like a lifetime, the whistle blew. This indicated that the game had begun. We had ninety minutes to show everyone, including ourselves, why we were the better team. As the game progressed, it became apparent that I was struggling in my position. I had let two goals go in, that on any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Student Self-Assessment Reflection Chelsie Vogel Student Self Assessment Reflection When creating a self assessment for Student N, I wanted to generate a self assessment that would be clear, simple, and provide beneficial information for myself and the student. The goal of my self assessment was to involve the student in identifying their own thoughts and feelings towards reading , discover areas of strength and improvement, and encourage self reflection of their learning. The student was asked to circle thumbs up (always), thumbs middle (sometimes), and thumbs down (not yet). I prefer using the term not yet because it shifts the attitude as a work in progress versus a failure. After allowing the student to complete the self assessment privately, I was able to sit down with them, take notes, and have a mini conference to dive deeper into their responses. For the statements, I enjoy reading books and I think reading is very important, Student N circled thumbs up. This reflects that the student has a positive attitude when it comes to reading. Student N also circled a thumbs up for the statement, I enjoy reading at home. I asked the student if they read a lot at home and they responded with, I don t really read a lot at home. I like video games and watching TV. I was interested in when or if the student reads at home and what they liked about it. Student N talked about how they enjoy reading bedtime stories sometimes. By their response, I could tell that they preferred reading at home when It involved another family member versus reading on their own. The student also gave thumbs up responses to I think I m a good reader and I don t have a problem finding books to read. Student N seems confident in their reading and is aware of what they enjoy reading. Student N gave a thumbs middle for I am comfortable reading aloud in class. I shared with him that even as a teacher I am not always comfortable reading in front of people. Student N also shared that sometimes they are comfortable, but it just depends on what they are reading. This will help me build our classroom culture and reflect on how we respect and respond to peers when they are reading or if they make a mistake. I want all students to feel comfortable practicing their reading ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
