This year, I went on a 3 week voyage to China and returned to America with plenty of new
knowledge. The following story describes it in detail.
Preface: In our house, we were putting all the gifts, everyday items, etc. in our bulky suitcases. At
that moment, we were ready as a family to drive to Los Angeles and fly in a plane to еЊ—дє¬ then
domestically transfer to иҐїе®‰. Well, it turns out that the process was going to be exceedingly
harder than I thought. We not far off through the road later in the car, we had to go back and check
something in our house. After checking, I rested in the car, hoping nothing would go out of hand.
Arriving to the massive parking lot garage, we came to park in a spot we rented. Since we could
not find our parking space, we just decided to stumble upon whatever our car fits in and isn t
reserved; though it took ages. We were rushing to the shuttle stop while being stressed out that
we are going to miss both planes. Thankfully, a hotel manager called a taxi to arrive and drive us
to the LAX international airport. Arriving, we handed over $25.00 to the taxi he requested and
appeared 30 minutes before boarding. 30 mediocre minutes later, we were at the point of boarding
our plane. In the plane, I was disappointed by the poor quality of the entertainment. At least it was

Chapter One of of Jim Murphy s book, An American Plague, opens with the quote, About this

accredited to Mathew Carey in November, 1793. The term scourge is defined as, a person or
thing that cause great trouble of suffering, and the term malignant is defined as, tending to
produce death or deterioration. These are very strong terms with extremely negative connotative
meanings. The figurative language which is evident in the quote at the opening of Chapter One

Pine island Glacier is an enormous stream of ice flowing west northwest along the south of
Hudson mountains into the Amundsen Sea in Antarctica. This ice sheet is the largest chunk of
ice on planet Earth having a volume of a water equivalent to 57m of the global sea level. Hence,
this basin has the largest net contribution of ice to the sea in the world. In the past few decades,
the pine island glacier has been melting at an irreversible rate. Studies show that the ground line
of the glacier has retreated 10 kilometres and is in the process of touching a 40 kilometre retreat.
The glacier has been losing approximately 20 billion tons of ice each year for the past quarter of
the century and is estimated to lose four times the ice in the coming quarter.

a unique view on the societal roles of women. Atwood, often considered a feminist writer, gives
women a powerful role in many of her works. During the 1960 s, the time that Atwood wrote her
poem, a large feminist movement ensued in the United States that aimed to dismantle workplace

While Rich started her essay by focusing on lines of exclusion in history, Haraway turns to
science. Right away, Haraway points to problems with the current and popular definition of
objectivity, specifically that objectivity only privileges the rich, white, male, Western
demographics. In tying objectivity to bodies, Haraway notes that objectivity is a privilege to
unmarked bodies dominant members in society. Knowledge from the point of view of the
unmarked is truly fantastic, distorted, and irrational (Haraway 587). As Haraway argues, no
one person/group can be truly objective. No body can not have an all knowing and all seeing
view of the world. That would be a power or trick only available to gods. An individual does not
have the ability or capacity to see every side of an issue. Echoing Rich, Haraway writes, Feminist
objectivity is about limited location and situated knowledge, not about transcendence and splitting
of subject and object. It allows us to become answerable for what we learn how to see (583).
Haraway recognizes that marked bodies like womxn, or other racial, ethnic, or religious groups,
have viewpoints that are not considered absolute and are consequently subjective and flawed.
