The Role of the Leader in Evaluating Data to Improve Quality and Safety
Quality and Safety has been recognized as important issues in creating the delivery of effective
and responsive health care. To improve Quality and Safety the leader must analyze data and
interpret the information to develop a system for clinical performance by motivating, supervising,
and develop a problem solving approach to deal with system of medical errors. The purpose of this

The data shows that ninety four percent of the falls reported were patients prescribed diuretics.
Diuretics have the capacity to cause dehydration by fluid volume depletion, increase the urge to
void, potentially causes dizziness and cause postural hypotension therefore increasing the risk of
falls in all patients but is increased in older women (Lim, 2009). Telemetry unit have more patients
with arrhythmias and other cardiac related problems and are often prescribed diuretic,
anticoagulants, antihypertensive and other cardiac medications, which can increase the risk of falls
(Carey, 2001).
Quality Improvement Plan The quality management process involves review of the data that tracks
activities and outcomes. Six sigma is a quality management program that focuses on the patient, the
data collected provides evidence of the results and the emphasis is on the processes used within the
system (Sullivan, 2013). A risk managementplan would identify risk for injuries, accidents and
financial losses, it would review the monitoring system, analyze the data and identify ways to
eliminate or reduce the risks. A continuous quality improvement plan for fall prevention needs to be
established because falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal

Psychological Disorder Research Paper
A psychological disorder is a syndrome marked by a clinically significant disturbance in
someone s cognition, emotion regulation, or behavior. These thoughts, emotions, and behaviors
are dysfunctional and they interfere with regular day to day life. Sad moods that enlarge and
become damaging can signal a psychological disorder. However over time, definitions of what
make a psychological disorder have varied. For example, in the 1970 s, high energy children were
typically just viewed as normal kids running a little wild, but today they are seen as dysfunctional
and diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. There are 450 million people suffering
from psychological disorders, but how are these disorders developed? Psychological

Midwifery Care Shortage Essay
Introduction
There is a predicted midwifery workforce shortage (The Department of Health, 2013). To address
this, the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to
their full scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department
of Health and Ageing, 2010).
This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived
experience of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience.
From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the
risk mitigated.
Contextual review
The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model
(Owens, et al., 2016).
The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their
local community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically
employed metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing,
postnatal care and home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many
metropolitan Australian midwives.
Literature review
A literature review was undertaken in August and September 2016 through Queensland University
of Technology (QUT) library service to ascertain if this experience has been studied and to identify
other similar studies and how they were designed.
The first search used the key words: midwife experiences

The Triumph Of French Cuisine Over The Culinary Industry
In today s world it is pretty much assumed that French cuisine is the king of fine dining, and
needless to say that it is a true fact. It is known today that the whole culinary industry centre
around the widely regarded French cuisine. French cuisine is considered as the epitome of quality
food. Even in culinary schools , the first thing that is taught is about the basics of French cooking.
Some of the regional cuisines are also influenced in some or the other way by French cuisine. Many
culinary terms being derived from French Languageitself confirms the Triumph of French Cuisine
over the Culinary Industry. French cuisine has went through a lot of ups and downs, but it still is

L. Garvey (2010), Cuisine is an important aspect of the French culture that has been developing
for centuries. It is internationally known and considered by some to be the best in the world. As
a result of globalization, the increasingly interconnectedness of the world, la cuisine has been
affected both positively and negatively. On one hand, the French are witnessing rapidly
increasing obesity rates across the country as they are turning to places like McDonald s instead
of the more refined and truly French options available to them. In addition, wine consumption
rates have decreased within the country, while, at the same time, there has been an increase in
cases of binge drinking and underage drinking. However K. Willcox (2009) believes that France
is at a crossroads in the kitchen. Wine consumption has plummeted by half since the 1960s, and
winemakers in Bordeaux, Beaujolais, and Langueduc are going bankrupt left and right. And while
practically all French cheese was made from raw milk 40 years ago, now only 10 percent is. She
also believes that As French culture has seeped out of its food, American culture has crept in.

Effects of Human Capital on Maize Production in Ghana Essay
Agriculture constitutes about one third of GDP and provides employment for about two thirds of
the labor force in Sub Saharan Africa. Productivity growth in agriculture is therefore an important
element for economic growth and development. Yet, growth in this sector has been slow.
According to the World Bank (1989), agricultural growth for the continent from 1980 to 1989
averaged only 1.8% per year. Therefore, improving this growth rate is of increasing concern for
both governments and international organizations (Pinckney 1995). Investing in the human capital
base is regarded as one of the most effective ways to improve agricultural productivity (Nelson and
Phelps, 1966; Romer, 1990; Bindlish and Evenson, 1997; Birdsall et al., 1999).... Show more

Rivera (1998) argues that education, irrespective of the form, improves productivity to a very
significant extent.
1.2 Problem Statement
Agriculture is a very important sector in the Ghanaian economy. Although its contribution to
GDP decreased from 43.5% in 1990 to 21.5% in 2013, it still remains a significant player in the
economy of the country (Ghana Statistical Service 2008; ISSER 2011; CIA 2013). The
agricultural sector employs about 60% of the workforce in Ghana and can therefore be regarded as
the backbone of the Ghanaian economy (ISSER, 2011).
Maize is the most important cereal crop produced in Ghana and it is also the most widely
consumed staple food in Ghana (Morris et al., 1999). Maize accounts for 55% of grain output in
the country. Maize is also an important component of poultry feed and to a lesser extent the
livestock feed sector, as well as a substitute for the brewing industry.
Although maize productivity has been increasing over the years, studies show that Ghanaian
farmers are yet to produce enough to meet the nation s demand. The most recent domestic
production data shows that the shortfall between domestic production and consumption would
reach 267,000 Mt by 2015 if there were no productivity improvements (MOFA, 2011), prolonging
the continual

Cultural Diversity and the Impossibility of a True Melting Pot
The core standards of America are founded, in principle, on the basis of its diversity and equality
among citizens. Begin ning with its Declaration of Independence, the United States distinguished
itself from other modern nation states by establishing a country of men who were different but
equal. Yet, despite the unifying images America projects within and beyond its borders
, the idea
behind E Pluribus Unum does not resound as one might assume it would.
E Pluribus Unum was originally intended to be both a representation of the union of the thirteen
colonies and an expression of the United States as a country formed by immigrants of many
different backgrounds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
E Pluribus Unum may show the United States to be a country formed of many different cultures,
and it may suggest the equality of all people, but even today many people, especially those of non
European ancestry, are often looked upon as secondary or non citizens and are placed in a socially
subservient position.
Since September 11, 2001, various communities within the United States seemed to be uniting for a
time, despite the differences that typically undermine the original intentions behind E Pluribus
Unum. Especially in places such as New York City, which is known world wide as a mecca of
diversity within its tightly confined parameters, people have been embracing each other as people
rather than as members of cultures other than their own. But there has been a backlash as well, an
increase in violent types of discrimination and prejudice in and near communities of Americans
whose descent is Middle Eastern. Many non Middle Eastern Americans blame all people who
appear Middle Eastern as culpable for what happened on September 11. So the attention paid to
culture, now, is based on the differences between Middle Eastern cultures and non Middle Eastern
cultures in America.
I wanted to explore how American citizens choose, especially after the events of September 11, to
deal with cultures found within the United States that differ from their own. I chose to interview
two people with strong, contrasting convictions about

Gilgamesh is a Failure in the Epic of Gilgamesh Essay
After reading The Epic of Gilgamesh, I have come to realize that Gilgamesh is not a hero, but a
failure. His journey does not follow the traditional circular hero s journey and he does not
posses the traits that an admirable hero should have. The first part of the hero s journey is the
call to adventure. This is the voyage that the hero is asked to go on in order to accomplish
greater good for human kind. This is the hero s chance to help his or her community, family or
friends by embarking on a long journey and challenging his, or herself. Gilgamesh does not go on
a journey to help others, he goes to make himself look better. I have not established my name

Gilgamesh just kills Humbaba to look stronger even though Humbaba is not doing any harm to
anyone. Gilgamesh also kills the bull that belonged to Istar. When he kills the bull, he
disrespecting the Gods by destroying their property. Another reason why these trials to not make
Gilgamesh a hero is because they are not difficult for him. He is hardly struggling to complete
them and being constantly challenged is part of beings a hero. Gilgamesh s mentor is Inkidu.
The hero is supposed to respect the mentor while Gilgamesh indirectly kills his. When Inkidu
and Gilgamesh kill Humbaba the Gods kill Inkidu as a punishment. Not only did Gilgamesh hurt
the Gods, but he also let his mentor die for his mistakes. After undergoing the trails, the hero
moves on to the abyss. The abyss is the darkest point for a hero in the hero s journey. For
Gilgamesh the abyss is when Inkidu dies. Gilgamesh is completely at fault for his own abyss.
He is upset when he is actually the one who caused the problem. After the abyss, the hero is
raised back up again and moves on to the return. In the return, the hero is praised for the good
that he, or she, has brought to the people. Gilgamesh is only praised because he is a king and the
people have to respect the king. They can t respect him for his journey because he doesn t bring
anything back for the people, he only brings something back for himself. The other reason

Comparing Harry Potter And The Sorcerer s Stone
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone is both an amazing book, released in 1997, and movie,
released in 2001. The film attempts to incorporate the book as best as possible. However, there is
almost no way for every single detail to be apart of the movie as well as the book. Although all of
the die hard Harry Potterfans would love an exact comparison of the book to the movie, it would be
way too long. Nonetheless, the film and the novel do have many similarities but not too many
major differences.
The movie and book start out with Professor Dumbledore and McGonagall just outside of Number

Modernism And Postmodernism
Modernism is very troublesome to define with clarity because of the fact that the term revolves
around various genres of movements be it artistic or philosophical. Nonetheless, there are some
primary beliefs of the Modernist genres that appeal in someway or the other to the various
movements and also the writers.
Modernism in general can broadly be described as the deviation from the ancient and classic
manner . (Johnson, J., The New Royal and Universal English Dictionary, Millard, 1763). It is the
radical movement away from the past in search of new styles of expression. It refers to a reforming

1997.)
As post modernism was a direct reaction to modernism, the two along with their respective theorists
often criticize each other and often justify their views in various debates and discourses.
Habermas and the Unfinished Project of Modernity is a collection of essays, which show us the
discourse between modernism and Post modernism. JГјrgen Habermas is a German social theorist
who is also a strong defender of modernity. He vigorously counteracts various criticisms made by
post modernist theorists on modernism. Many intellectuals in the modern day have become
skeptical about the emancipatory potential of modernity but Habermas still believes and continues
to insist on the idealistic utopian potential of modernity as the child of enlightenment . As
modernism take has influences from democracy and reason, Habermas sees it as an unfinished
project. By this Habermas is trying to state that there is still so much to be done in the domain of
modernism before contemplating a move to the post modern world.
Marx influenced Habermas as he had an association with the Frankfurt School of social thought, but
nonetheless believed that Marx s views needed to be thoroughly changed in order to make them
genuinely contemporary and modern. Considering this, Habermas came up with two important
theories namely The Theory of Communication, and The Theory of Rationalization of System and

Death Versus Death By Emily Dickinson

Term Paper Rough Draft
HP: _____________________
Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or
any form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry
rivaled Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish
her poetry in her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary
genius who had lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable
through it is excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and
patriotic songs like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than
her style, however, as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects
include hope and sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and
complicated. Dickinson does not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to
record her thoughts on death. She moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an
amazing honor, but she also thinks of it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are
uncertain, she varies between finding death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series
of several poems
Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her

Analysis Of The Toronto Eaton Center By Ernst Cassirer
Architecture matters, it is omnipresence; we use and encounter it on a daily basis, but most often
one tends to focus on the building s function and the way it looks. Architecture is more than mere
buildings that serve its function to meet our own human needs; it has a lot more to offer.
Architecture matters because it can become a symbol that represents something that has a deeper
meaning as well as an ultimate representation of a culture. Architectureis a powerful icon because it

It represents how we advanced as a society in terms of scientific and technological innovations. The

our civilization over time with the evolution in technology and architecture. Architecture matters

In 1984, the humorous advertising slogan for Wendy s fast food chain, Where s the beef? became
very popular and was meant to show their beef patties were much larger when compared to other
fast food burger establishments (Reno Gazette). The pictures of their patties were obviously bigger,
but we all missed the most important question. What is in the beef patties?
Americans consume approximately 5 billion hamburgers each year which equates to roughly 1.2
billion pounds of meat (Reno gazette). Most consumers assume that the hamburger they eat is
composed primarily of meat. However, Fast Food Burgers: What are we really eating? Published

truth (Reno gazette). The answer of what our burgers are made of is mostly water. The amount of
water in these burgers was as much as 37 64 percent which is something most likely all consumers
would never consider (Reno gazette). This raises the question; how much actual beef are the
burgers we consume made of? Surprisingly, the meat content was as low as 2 to 15 percent in

Coke s difficulties in India?
Something that could have been a problem right from the start is communication. Countries have
different ways of communication, and something could be translated completely opposite of what
was meant. Communication problems could have been a cause of the problems in India. Also, the
different styles of communication could have been an issue because the United States and India do
not use the same styles. Another big problem is that something could be accepted in India and be

Pesticides may be in everything in India, but this is not something a MNC should be bringing up.

In Regards to Accuracy
It is important to address the issues and limitations that may be present in this report. Recent and
reliable reports on the homeless is severely lacking, likely as a result of the sensitivity of the
issue. Similarly, the Sydney CBD is an extremely specific area and much of the information
collected is not specific to this area. Much of the information collected were extrapolated from data
that covered a larger area. As such, it is important to recognise that due to the nature of the data
collected, the information presented may be inaccurate or biased. Causes of Homelessness There
are numerous causes to homelessness. Specific events can cause homelessness, such as losing a

Voltaire s Candide And Swift s Gulliver s Travels
From someone deciding to snooze their alarm an extra time in the morning to deciding if they
should marry their significant other, every decision a person makes will create either a positive or
negative effect on their life. This statement is evident in both Voltaire s Candide and Swift s
Gulliver s Travels. Candideis a satire that was published in 1759 by the French author and
philosopher, François Marie Arouet, better known as Voltaire
. Gulliver s Travels is also a satire
that was published in 1726 by Anglo Irish author, Jonathan Swift. In these two stories; no matter
how big or small a decision is, it will inevitably have an effect on the character s quality of life,
even if it is not completely apparent at the time.

To reiterate Pangloss s beliefs that this world is the best of possible worlds he also claims that
there is no effect without a cause. Pangloss uses simple examples in the beginning of the story to
demonstrate what he means. He states: that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all
being created for an end, all is necessarily for the best end. Observe, that the nose has been
formed to bear spectacles thus we have spectacles. Legs are visibly designed for stockings and
we have stockings (18). This statement is illogical and quite humorous, as one would think
spectacles were made for the nose and stockings were made for legs, not vice versa. Anyway, this
whole story is based on cause and effect. Every single decision Candide makes affects him in
some type of way later in the story. Nevertheless, it is not obvious what the outcome of the
majority of his decisions will be, as this story has many twists and random outcomes.
It all starts at the castle of Thunder ten tronckh where young Candide lays a kiss on CunГ©gonde.
One might believe kissing your love would lead to good things to come, however, it is the complete
opposite. The effect of this cause results in Candide being banished from the castle to defend
himself alone. When Candide and Pangloss treat the earthquake victims, Pangloss attempts to
comfort the victims by telling them the earthquake was for

Sameness In The Real World
In this community everyone is the same, these people won t want what their friends have, if they
already have it or going to get it. In the real world, people have different items. Someone will have
something that they do not have and then they may try to get it. If everyone were the same and
had the same things, then there would be no stealing. Not all the people are the same in the
community they get the same items at different ages, but eventually they will get it. There would
also be no jealousy if everyone had the same things and looked similar. Sameness prevents bullying
since clothes and physical features, are the same.
Also in the community, people don t pick who they want to marry. This is good so no one will
divorce or make any mistakes. It does not seem right for someone to pick who they love, but since
these people lived like this there whole life it doesn t seem weird for someone to do that. The chief

them on level ground with men. This is not to say that women are not sexually victimized more

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Acids And Bases
Task 1:
a)Acids and bases play a large and important role in our body through various biological
processes. After a human being consumes food, the food gets transported to the stomach where
the border cells located there start producing Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) which is an acid that aids
in the digestion of the food. In order to buffer or neutralize this highly acidic chemical, those same
border cells also secrete a base called Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) at the same time thanks to
their dual function.
NaCl + CO2 + H2O NaHCO3 + HCl
In addition, during intensive exercise, the muscles will have less oxygen provided to them. This
will therefore encourage the muscle cells an acid called Lactic Acid as a way to provide fuel for the
mitochondria, to supply energy. As the Lactic Acid is utilized by the... Show more content on

person if they are applied on the skin, inhaled or consumed causing damages such as severe burns,
nausea, difficulty breathing and even death. Such damages can be prevented by properly educating
the workers about safety and the dangers of mishandling the chemicals, and supplying the workers
with proper personal protective equipment or PPE including protective clothing and goggles.
Another disadvantage of chemicals and bases in industry is the resulting environment pollution.
Many industries pollute the environment either by an unintentional leakage or by mishandling and
disposal of chemical waste in soils and lakes therefore endangering the lives of different organisms
exposed to this toxic waste. This damage can be prevented by conducting routine maintenance to
prevent such leakages and the industries have to be ethical and dispose of the toxic waste in the

The Criminal Justice System Is Made Up Of Many Complex...
The criminal justice system is made up of many complex components that all work together in
order to maintain law and order in society. Of the different parts in the judicial system, criminal
courts play a vital role in the execution of justice not only for the victim, but the community as well.
Accordingly, criminal courts in the United States have been used to maintain social control of
citizens and create social change within the population (Hartley Champion, 2009). Because every
state and the federal government have differing methods on how to prosecute criminals, the process
seemingly becomes difficult to comprehend and follow. Some states utilize a standardized
sentencing structure where as others afford the judgemore leeway in deciding sentence terms.
Criminal court is open to the general public for viewing; therefore, attending a session is
presumably one of the more hands on methods of researching criminal justicein order to evaluate
how the system works at the community level. The intent of this paper is to reflect on the criminal
court proceedings witnessed at a local criminal court session, explain and understand the roles of all

Comparing Media Images Of Criminological Research Essay
iii.Comparing Media Images to Criminological Research
The superhero genre is so popular and influential that many studies have been done on its
depictions of the groups and the impact it has on a large part of society how it has become a
staple on film, television, and in video games (Darowski). The genre is so influential in fact,
that it dates back all the way to the Ancient Greeks, and possibly even further (Haynes). Every
group in history has had their mythologies and epic tales of crime fighters, they just did not call
them superheroes. For example, Achilles only had one weakness (his heel) and was by the
Greeks definition, considered a hero (greek gods.org). The same goes for heroes like Perseus,
Theseus, and even Heracles. Back then though instead of being changed into a super soldier in a
lab by a German scientist or creating a flying metal suit in the desert, these heroes were part god
which explained their extra ordinary abilities. Super crime fighters have always existed, but when
comic books began in the 19th century a new set of rules was created to guide their content to be
more appropriate than the Greek tales (Coville).
The Comics Code was a list of regulations regarding the depiction of certain events in comic books
maintained by the Comics Magazine Association of America (Nyberg). The code was very strict
and eventually challenged by Stan Lee (one of the creators of Marvel) through a story arc in the
Spiderman Comics that dealt with drug abuse.

Pragmatism In James Joyce s Araby
Question #1
The first three paragraphs of the tale focus largely on the setting because these setting symbolize the
key concept of the story. Settings strengthen the theme and the characters by using the metaphors of
darkness and light. The experiences of the boy in this story portrays how people often expect more
than the real world can provide and then feel they disappointed and disillusioned.
The author refers to the obscure and dark images to make the reality of boy living in the dreary
town of Araby more eloquent. He uses dark and the bleak references to create the mood or
atmosphere and then refers to the bright light while discussing the Mangan s sister. Bright light is
referred to create a fairy tale world filled with beautiful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He hardly meets or talks to the lady of her dreams. But he builds all his romantic fantasy around
her calm and sedate image which is his backbone in an otherwise drab daily life. His feeling for
her grows. Finally, he met with her dream lady and she refers to a fair called Araby. She does not
really tell him to go to the place but the boy s entire desires now moved to that one specific place.
He conceptualizes this place as a fantasy land filled with the innocence and purity. The rest of the
tale is about the boy s rather delayed and troubled visit to that place. He then finds it as a drab
market or bazaar where everything is so artificial and on sale. He finds human speech
meaningless there. This bazaar seems charmless to the boy and he became severely
disappointed. At the end of the story, when the boy was standing all alone in the dark places,
sees himself in the mockery of all his stupidity. It is a deeply disturbing and yet a learning
moment for the boy. It is a slice of experience that will make a man out of the boy and perhaps a
state of the transition for the boy from the dream world to the real

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning by Allan Sillitoe
Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is a novel following the rebellious life of twenty two year
old Arthur Seaton. Arthur spends his weekdays working at a bicycle factory and relaxes on
weekends with plenty of drinks while in the company of various lady friends. The novel was
written by Alan Sillitoe who came to be known as one of the angry young men. This group of
writers was a dominant literary force during the 1950s and was immensely popular due to their
accurate portrayal of postwar Britain and the working class. The angry young men produced a
number of books (amongst other things) expressing their contempt with the class system, postwar
welfare state and the lack of class change post war, the disdain of these issues are very prominent...

The frustration of not being able to climb any higher then the class born into is evident within
Sillitoe s novel. The very title of the book gives readers an insight into the life of a factory
worker. Saturday night is a metaphor for the youthful times in life, when one went to work to
earn money to have more then a few drinks on the weekend and were spirited in their rebellious
fight against the government; whereas Sunday morning is the acceptance of their destiny, and a
symbol of conformity. Stilltoe provides reader s a look into this metaphor right from the very
beginning, when Arthur states it was Saturday night, the best and bingiest glad time of the week,
one of the fifty two holidays in the slow turning Big wheel of the year, a violent preamble to a
prostrate Sabbath. The reader is not aware of the double meaning of this sentence until the end
when Arthur appears to be reformed of his cheating rebellious ways and begins planning a
wedding and future with Doreen. Saturday Night and Sunday Morning reveals almost nothing
about the upper classes. Arthur only refers to this class with words such as: them, those chaps and
blokes with suits and bowler hats. The novel implies the working class labours away during the
week and relaxes on the weekend. This shows a clear divide amongst the classes and how there is
no inter class mingling. Saturday Night and Sunday

International Real Estate Is Important For Your Properties...
International Real Estate Shows
What is the best way to meet many foreign buyers for your properties and establish personal
connections with potential business partners abroad? To participate in international real estate
shows in the foreign countries of course. This chapter is mostly aimed at realtors and developers,
although for a private seller it would be also informative if you want to have your property
presented at such a show, then you have to know what to ask your realtor whether they go to any
international real estate shows, in what countries, what are the results and how your property might
be represented at the upcoming shows, where and when.
It is the most exciting and also the most expensive way of reaching out to the market of the foreign
buyers for international real estate the costs of flights, hotels, visas plus exhibition fees and
translation and interpreting sum up. This method of real estate marketing to foreigners can be
effective or just a huge money waster depending on a number of circumstances.
Of course, as always you would like to get a good return on your investment which is an
impressive number of sales of your international properties to foreigners resulting from your
participation in a real estate show in this case.

Most renaissance astronomers did not accept the theories of the previous astronomers. So they

a new era of astronomy when he concluded that the Sun was the center of the universe instead of the

Speaking of Tycho Brahe he built an observatory from which he made the most accurate

The History of the Canadian Political Landscape
The Canadian political landscape has a rich and complex history spanning from sea to sea , just as
the nation itself. Chronicles of dominance, leadership, and association by the United Kingdom,
France, and the United States has ultimately shaped the Canadian national consciousness, resulting
in the political ideologies and governance we see today. To best describe the characteristic of
Canadian politics, one can refer to Fragment Theory where a colonial nation, such as Canada, is
predominantly influenced from their historic origins. However, recent immigration and economic
trends have drastically reshaped the Canadian political spectrum across provinces. The following
essay will briefly analyze the evolution of political ideologies across Canada, primarily focusing on
the conservative/ neo liberal model.
To properly analyze the political ideologies that have played a major role in shaping Canadian
politics, one must examine a major aspect regional politics. It is the various regions and provinces
that make up Canada, as does their political ideological landscape.
Perhaps the most influential of provinces in the development of political ideology in Canada is
Ontario. Since the formation of Canada, Ontario played a large role in the political sphere, hence
being home to the nations capital. Settled by British colonialist, and later on British loyalist from
America, Ontario was predominantly Anglo Saxon, which favored traditional British principles

Building Elements Of A Successful Team
Proactive Planning
In meetings requested by managers, various agendas are discussed and explained. Of them, the
plan to establish self directed and high performance teams is spotlighted. The company needs to
establish a team that combines the different talent and work performance of its employees in
order to accomplish a particular goal and purpose. Concerns arise when some of the company s
managers are experiencing some teams that are self directed and high performing, while others are
not. Therefore, discussions are held which aim at familiarizing all employees with what it means to
be self directed and high performing.
In the process, they brainstorm on ideas like building elements of a successful team. If a manager
has not fulfilled the demand of having this type of team, they are focused on as needing more aid
in successfully moving forward towards the goal. At the time, those who are struggling are
expected to learn from those who are doing well in order for them to identify the mistakes and
how to correct them. In team building, through the help of leadership within the company, a team
of people collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal. (Midura Glover, 2005) In this
case, leaders are managers and they make decisions, clarify goals, build commitment practices and
coach their team. Team building is very important as it enhances collaboration. It also creates a

a) Spanning around 1,700 feet across the Vltava river, the bridge helps connect the Old Town and
Lesser Town of Prague together (Shanberg, n.d.).
b) There are also two towers on either end of the bridge, each built in Gothic style and first used
for the Kings and later as military towers (Shanberg, n.d.).
c) The Charles Bridge is one of the first things many people make an effort to see as it is an old
bridge with beautiful architecture (Shanberg, n.d.). [Transition: These famous landmarks are just as
important to Czechs as the customs they follow.]
III. These are the traditions that Czechs are proud to follow today.

The Lexus Es Is A Luxury Sedan Requiring No Introduction
The Lexus ES is a luxury sedan requiring no introduction. Now in its sixth generation, the ES line
is one of two models that launched the Lexus brand in 1989 (the flagship LS is the other one) and
remains Lexus top selling model behind the RX SUV.
The ES line has always represented a front wheel drive model powered by a V6 engine. Only since
2013 has a hybrid 300h variant been offered, a surprising fact to some given that nearly every other
Lexus line has offered a gas electric hybrid.
Model Year Changes
A 2017 Lexus ES 350 model was a recent weekly driver and there are several changes of note
over last year. The standard equipment list now includes rain sensing wipers and the Lexus Safety
System+ package. The LSS+ features a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All models also come with a power tilt and slide moonroof.
Factory options include 18 inch alloy wheels, Bi LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights,
fog lamps and automatic high beams, and a one touch power trunk.
Interior Features and Options
The Lexus ES is classified as a midsize luxury sedan, but it seems larger than that. This model
seats five in comfort with generous amounts of head, shoulder, hip, and leg room all around. This
is where the sedan s front wheel drive layout works to the advantage of the ES no big drivetrain
hump to interfere with leg space.
Plush and supportive bucket seats with 10 way power support are found up front. A three place
bench seat is in the second row with a pass through to the trunk. By the way, the trunk measures
15.2 cubic feet or about average for this segment.
Standard equipment includes full power accessories; leather or imitation leather (NuLuxe) seats;
wood, imitation leather, and piano black trim; an analog clock; personal lamps, puddle lights; and
zoned climate control. This model also comes with a remote touch controller, a mouse like device
for controlling audio and navigation.
Tech Safety
All models are outfitted with an eight inch touchscreen display and are compatible with Siri Eyes
Free. A rearview monitor, an eight speaker audio

Tale Of Two Cities Similarities
In the movie of A tale of two cities is being exaggerates many scenes, and leaves out many of the
interactions between the characters. It also doesn t show many interactions between Carton and
Darnay. Also, MR. Manette does not have as prominent of a role in the movie as the book, as well
as Lorry and Jerry. But some of the setting and events are similar to the book.
A story A tale of two citiesby Charles Dickens and the story entitled Les Miserables by Victor
Hugo are also having with similarities. The two characters (Jean Valjean and Dr.Manette) from
those two books that I d mentioned are spent a long time in jail for a small crime and when they got

Parexel Case Comparison Paper
Introduction While social media platforms present avenues for the freedom of expression, the
rules or regulations that guide the privilege may sometimes be curtailed or applied wrongly.
Employees and organizations are facing the dilemma on what to post or not to post on these
platforms. An employee may decide to air something through these public arenas without the
knowledge that their actions may surpass their rights and thus infringe on others rights or cause
damages to other people (Boyce, 2014). On the other hand, an organization may control the
communication of employees on social media platforms to the extent that it violates their rights
and privileges. It is in this respect that this paper explores the Facebook and Praxel cases as they
are related to these matters. Comparison and Contrast between the Two Situations The Facebook
and Parexel cases provide differences in the way that protected concerted activities are applicable
under the National Labor Act. For instance, in the Facebook case, American Medical Response
Company dismissed an employee of her duty for posting derogatory comments about her
supervisor via Facebook. According to the labor board, the company illegally terminated Souza and

that her discharge was a mere retaliation for exercising her rights within Section 7 (Obermayer
Rebmann Maxwell Hippel LLP, 2011). However, her concerted activities were not protected since
there was no proof that her complaints had mutual aid or benefits with her workers. Thus, while
Parexel engaged in illegality, the employee did not act for the benefit of other fellow

whether it would be feasible to integrate an ERP system with its company and offsite locations.
There are a few unanswered questions as to if Brandon Group should pursue an ERP and CRM
solutions in order to meet the company goals and its needs. To address the question, Bandon group
should most definitely pursue an ERP and a CRM solution for its company. Bandon should first

The SAP/ERP package can contain software for Human resources including accounting/payroll
software or IT software such as ticketing systems where customers can place service calls to have
tech support correct a technical issue remotely or physically. In addition to integration of the
company s information, providing e business related services such as the use of online bill pay

information services for customers will help Bandon improve business operations and its
customer support if the company uses SAP for its ERP package (SAP, n.d.). In reference to SAP
under a CRM package for Bandon Group, the CRM package that could be used to meet the
company s needs is the SAP 360 Customer package. The SAP 360 Customer package is a CRM
based package that would enable Bandon Group to gain a competitive advantage by allowing
them to engage with their customers anywhere at any given time; whether it s online, in person, or
even on a mobile device such as a phone, laptop, or tablet. Not only would the company be able to
keep track of all its customers, but it gives them the opportunity to provide the ultimate customer
service as they would immediately be available for the customers to answer any questions or

Immigration Groups In The 19th Century
The experiences of the immigration groups in the 19th century can be divided into three concepts.
First, Anglo conformity, traditional and most rigid approach to diversity in which immigrants had
to adopt the values of the white Protestant majority. Second, Melting pot, represented natives in
assuming that the united states would soon sew every race, color, religion, language, and
nationality group into a new whole (Olson and Beal, The Ethnic Dimension, p.2), and lastly, The
Natural Rights Theory. National rights theory offered justice and equity to everyone (Olson and
Beal, The Ethnic Dimension, p. 8 9). In the 19th century, more than 4 million Irish immigrants
came to America Irish population in America was second in number only to the English (Irish
Colonial Immigration). The harsh economic problems and blight, an estimated 1 million Irish
died of starvation (19th Century Europeans PowerPoint, p. 9), were two main factors in the
surge of Irish migration. They saw America as an answer to their problems charity stretched forth
her hand from far and near, America giving liberally of her abundance (Robert Whyte, p.2).
However, once in America they faced the difficulties of assimilation into a new country. Since
most of the Irish came from small villages with little education and no work experience, they
weren t prepared for the urban industrial lifestyle. They worked for very little often doing jobs no

Why do you think the Chief believes Nurse Ratched would rather McMurphy had been stark naked

McMurphy said he lost his clothes during the night time, so he couldn t wear anything on except
his hat and towel. The big nurse got mad at the black boys, because they didn t give him a green
uniform. But it was McMurphy s mischief. He wore the shorts under the towel. When the big
nurse saw his shorts, her voice was shaking out of control, she was really mad. The Chief thinks if
McMurphy was really naked, the big nurse was not mad at McMurphy.

I feel like when people get stuck in a situation where I m from they just give up, but they do not

Stakeholder Support For The New Pharmacy
Change is inevitable and sometimes difficult for some to accept. It is a challenge trying to get
stakeholders to buy into change, because it is impossible to satisfy everyone. Stakeholder support
is important for the new pharmacy to succeed in the healthcare organization. Involving
stakeholders during all stages ... can lead to early buy in, successful program design, and
establishment of long term support for the program (www.ahrq.gov, 2014). If the stakeholders were
not involved in some of the decisions and planning stages of the new pharmacy, they would be left
feeling insecure and confused about the transition. Approaching the stakeholders with a good

If the pharmacy would offer discounted drugs, they could expect to see customers who are self pay
or do not have a prescription plan. Self paying customers and those on a monthly budget would be
attracted to discounted prices that the pharmacy could offer. Pharmacist could provide detailed
information about the prescription and what drugs may counteract them, continuing the health
management plan provided by the physician. After establishing the need for customer base, they
would have to look at the competition and their buying patterns. One thing this pharmacy has is the
availability to patient s medical health history on hand; this would make the patient at ease
knowing the pharmacist has knowledge of their medical history. According to Williams Torrens
(2008), As patients and health care professionals have turned increasingly to medications as cost
effective alternatives to invasive surgery and hospitalization, spending on prescription medications
has naturally increased (263). Medicine is providing patients to live longer, healthier lives even
though they might suffer from a chronic illness or disease. Showing stakeholders this information
of increased prescription medications might help influence their decision to support the new
pharmacy. An incentive of more financial income to the

Functional Behavior Analysis
When faced with the challenge of altering a behavior, it is important to understand the components
which surround the behavior. Identifying those things which serve to motivate the individual to
continue engaging in, or not engage in, a behavior; what triggers it; how to define it; how often it
occurs and under what circumstances; are just a few of the questions which need to be answered in
order to effectively plan for change. Behaviors are generally learned and maintained through
positive, negative, or automatic reinforcement, and in the provision of these reinforcing effects, the
behaviorserves a function with which to achieve them. Through the completion of a functional
behavior assessment one can systematically gain the information necessary to form a hypothesis as
to why the behavior is occurring, test the hypothesis, and develop a... Show more content on

A functional behavior assessment is systematically completed in three consecutive steps. Initially,
information is gathered through indirect assessments via interview, self reports, and those who
know the person well. This serves to define the behavior, provide background information, as well
as provide information about when the behavior is more likely or unlikely to occur and what
environmental variables might influence its occurrence. After this is completed, the professional
conducts a descriptive assessment during which observations are conducted in the natural
environment as a step toward determining a true functional relationship between the behavior and
controlling factors. This is done through the use of observational recording formats such as: ABC
assessments, time sampling, interval recording and structured descriptive assessments. A functional
analysis is the final part of the functional behavioral assessment during which the hypothesis is

are looked at in form of persons rather than just artificial entities. Therefore, giving them the
power to possess rights and responsibilities. Companies are ought not to be treated as persons
because they are solely created to fulfill the purpose of generating profits and indeed have no extra
responsibilities to the society. To achieve democracy, corporation involvement in politics must be
avoided. Corporate responsibilities to the public are better addressed in the democratic process than
inside corporate boardrooms. (Reich, 668). Large corporations tend to influence political decisions
due to the financial incentives given to politicians. If companies take part in the political system,

There are those goods and practices that cannot be bought according to Sandel even though there
is fairness. For example, there are certain types of happiness cannot be bought such as a loveable
family and true lifelong friends. Love is a natural feeling of affection that cannot have a price to
it. Even though someone can buy friends, the feeling is not the same as the natural affection of
love from a true friend. On the other hand, individuals perceive happiness in different ways. Some
individuals view happiness in form of possessing material wealth and others do not. In conclusion,
free market capitalism has created an opportunity for individuals in society and paved way for
people to enjoy a lot of goods and services produced and sold through the market exchange.
However, capitalism has created many negative consequences since it is mainly concerned with
maximizing profits and minimizing costs. These negatives consequences in most cases eventually
outweighed positive outcomes especially affecting democracy. For instance, equality of all people
has been induced negatively leading to

Diuretics have the capacity to cause dehydration by fluid volume depletion, increase the urge to void, potentially causes dizziness and cause postural hypotension therefore increasing the risk of falls in all patients but is increased in older women (Lim, 2009). Telemetry unit have more patients with arrhythmias and other cardiac related problems and are often prescribed diuretic, anticoagulants, antihypertensive and other cardiac medications, which can increase the risk of falls (Carey, 2001). Quality Improvement Plan The quality management process involves review of the data that tracks activities and outcomes. Six sigma is a quality management program that focuses on the patient, the data collected provides evidence of the results and the emphasis is on the processes used within the system (Sullivan, 2013). A risk managementplan would identify risk for injuries, accidents and financial losses, it would review the monitoring system, analyze the data and identify ways to eliminate or reduce the risks. These thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are dysfunctional and they interfere with regular day to day life. Sad moods that enlarge and become damaging can signal a psychological disorder. However over time, definitions of what make a psychological disorder have varied. For example, in the 1970 s, high energy children were typically just viewed as normal kids running a little wild, but today they are seen as dysfunctional and diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. • 4. Midwifery Care Shortage Essay Introduction There is a predicted midwifery workforce shortage (The Department of Health, 2013). To address this, the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to their full scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010). This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived experience of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience. From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the risk mitigated. Contextual review The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model (Owens, et al., 2016). The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their local community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically employed metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing, postnatal care and home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many metropolitan Australian midwives. Literature review A literature review was undertaken in August and September 2016 through Queensland University of Technology (QUT) library service to ascertain if this experience has been studied and to identify other similar studies and how they were designed. The first search used the key words: midwife experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Triumph Of French Cuisine Over The Culinary Industry In today s world it is pretty much assumed that French cuisine is the king of fine dining, and needless to say that it is a true fact. It is known today that the whole culinary industry centre around the widely regarded French cuisine. French cuisine is considered as the epitome of quality food. Even in culinary schools , the first thing that is taught is about the basics of French cooking. Some of the regional cuisines are also influenced in some or the other way by French cuisine. Many culinary terms being derived from French Languageitself confirms the Triumph of French Cuisine over the Culinary Industry. French cuisine has went through a lot of ups and downs, but it still is on the pinnacle of its popularity and worldwide acceptance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... L. Garvey (2010), Cuisine is an important aspect of the French culture that has been developing for centuries. It is internationally known and considered by some to be the best in the world. As a result of globalization, the increasingly interconnectedness of the world, la cuisine has been affected both positively and negatively. On one hand, the French are witnessing rapidly increasing obesity rates across the country as they are turning to places like McDonald s instead of the more refined and truly French options available to them. In addition, wine consumption rates have decreased within the country, while, at the same time, there has been an increase in cases of binge drinking and underage drinking. However K. Willcox (2009) believes that France is at a crossroads in the kitchen. Wine consumption has plummeted by half since the 1960s, and winemakers in Bordeaux, Beaujolais, and Langueduc are going bankrupt left and right. And while practically all French cheese was made from raw milk 40 years ago, now only 10 percent is. • 7. Effects of Human Capital on Maize Production in Ghana Essay Agriculture constitutes about one third of GDP and provides employment for about two thirds of the labor force in Sub Saharan Africa. Productivity growth in agriculture is therefore an important element for economic growth and development. Yet, growth in this sector has been slow. According to the World Bank (1989), agricultural growth for the continent from 1980 to 1989 averaged only 1.8% per year. Therefore, improving this growth rate is of increasing concern for both governments and international organizations (Pinckney 1995). Investing in the human capital base is regarded as one of the most effective ways to improve agricultural productivity (Nelson and Phelps, 1966; Romer, 1990; Bindlish and Evenson, 1997; Birdsall et al., 1999).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rivera (1998) argues that education, irrespective of the form, improves productivity to a very significant extent. 1.2 Problem Statement Agriculture is a very important sector in the Ghanaian economy. Although its contribution to GDP decreased from 43.5% in 1990 to 21.5% in 2013, it still remains a significant player in the economy of the country (Ghana Statistical Service 2008; ISSER 2011; CIA 2013). The agricultural sector employs about 60% of the workforce in Ghana and can therefore be regarded as the backbone of the Ghanaian economy (ISSER, 2011). Maize is the most important cereal crop produced in Ghana and it is also the most widely consumed staple food in Ghana (Morris et al., 1999). Maize accounts for 55% of grain output in the country. Maize is also an important component of poultry feed and to a lesser extent the livestock feed sector, as well as a substitute for the brewing industry. Although maize productivity has been increasing over the years, studies show that Ghanaian farmers are yet to produce enough to meet the nation s demand. The most recent domestic production data shows that the shortfall between domestic production and consumption would reach 267,000 Mt by 2015 if there were no productivity improvements (MOFA, 2011), prolonging the continual ... Cultural Diversity and the Impossibility of a True Melting Pot The core standards of America are founded, in principle, on the basis of its diversity and equality among citizens. Begin ning with its Declaration of Independence, the United States distinguished itself from other modern nation states by establishing a country of men who were different but equal. Yet, despite the unifying images America projects within and beyond its borders , the idea behind E Pluribus Unum does not resound as one might assume it would. E Pluribus Unum was originally intended to be both a representation of the union of the thirteen colonies and an expression of the United States as a country formed by immigrants of many different backgrounds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... E Pluribus Unum may show the United States to be a country formed of many different cultures, and it may suggest the equality of all people, but even today many people, especially those of non European ancestry, are often looked upon as secondary or non citizens and are placed in a socially subservient position. Since September 11, 2001, various communities within the United States seemed to be uniting for a time, despite the differences that typically undermine the original intentions behind E Pluribus Unum. Especially in places such as New York City, which is known world wide as a mecca of diversity within its tightly confined parameters, people have been embracing each other as people rather than as members of cultures other than their own. But there has been a backlash as well, an increase in violent types of discrimination and prejudice in and near communities of Americans whose descent is Middle Eastern. Many non Middle Eastern Americans blame all people who appear Middle Eastern as culpable for what happened on September 11. So the attention paid to culture, now, is based on the differences between Middle Eastern cultures and non Middle Eastern cultures in America. I wanted to explore how American citizens choose, especially after the events of September 11, to deal with cultures found within the United States that differ from their own. I chose to interview two people with strong, contrasting convictions about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His journey does not follow the traditional circular hero s journey and he does not posses the traits that an admirable hero should have. The first part of the hero s journey is the call to adventure. This is the voyage that the hero is asked to go on in order to accomplish greater good for human kind. This is the hero s chance to help his or her community, family or friends by embarking on a long journey and challenging his, or herself. The abyss is the darkest point for a hero in the hero s journey. For Gilgamesh the abyss is when Inkidu dies. Gilgamesh is completely at fault for his own abyss. He is upset when he is actually the one who caused the problem. After the abyss, the hero is raised back up again and moves on to the return. In the return, the hero is praised for the good that he, or she, has brought to the people. Gilgamesh is only praised because he is a king and the people have to respect the king. Modernism in general can broadly be described as the deviation from the ancient and classic manner . (Johnson, J., The New Royal and Universal English Dictionary, Millard, 1763). As post modernism was a direct reaction to modernism, the two along with their respective theorists often criticize each other and often justify their views in various debates and discourses. Habermas and the Unfinished Project of Modernity is a collection of essays, which show us the discourse between modernism and Post modernism. JГјrgen Habermas is a German social theorist who is also a strong defender of modernity. He vigorously counteracts various criticisms made by post modernist theorists on modernism. Many intellectuals in the modern day have become skeptical about the emancipatory potential of modernity but Habermas still believes and continues to insist on the idealistic utopian potential of modernity as the child of enlightenment . As modernism take has influences from democracy and reason, Habermas sees it as an unfinished project. By this Habermas is trying to state that there is still so much to be done in the domain of modernism before contemplating a move to the post modern world. Marx influenced Habermas as he had an association with the Frankfurt School of social thought, but nonetheless believed that Marx s views needed to be thoroughly changed in order to make them genuinely contemporary and modern. • 15. Death Versus Death By Emily Dickinson Maheen Chranya English HP E Ratliff April 21, 2015 Term Paper Rough Draft HP: _____________________ Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or any form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry rivaled Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish her poetry in her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary genius who had lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable through it is excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and patriotic songs like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than her style, however, as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects include hope and sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and complicated. Dickinson does not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to record her thoughts on death. She moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an amazing honor, but she also thinks of it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are uncertain, she varies between finding death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series of several poems Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her ... Architecture is more than mere buildings that serve its function to meet our own human needs; it has a lot more to offer. Architecture matters because it can become a symbol that represents something that has a deeper meaning as well as an ultimate representation of a culture. • 25. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Acids And Bases Task 1: a)Acids and bases play a large and important role in our body through various biological processes. After a human being consumes food, the food gets transported to the stomach where the border cells located there start producing Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) which is an acid that aids in the digestion of the food. In order to buffer or neutralize this highly acidic chemical, those same border cells also secrete a base called Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) at the same time thanks to their dual function. NaCl + CO2 + H2O NaHCO3 + HCl In addition, during intensive exercise, the muscles will have less oxygen provided to them. The criminal justice system is made up of many complex components that all work together in order to maintain law and order in society. Of the different parts in the judicial system, criminal courts play a vital role in the execution of justice not only for the victim, but the community as well. Accordingly, criminal courts in the United States have been used to maintain social control of citizens and create social change within the population (Hartley Champion, 2009). Because every state and the federal government have differing methods on how to prosecute criminals, the process seemingly becomes difficult to comprehend and follow. • 27. Comparing Media Images Of Criminological Research Essay iii.Comparing Media Images to Criminological Research The superhero genre is so popular and influential that many studies have been done on its depictions of the groups and the impact it has on a large part of society how it has become a staple on film, television, and in video games (Darowski). The genre is so influential in fact, that it dates back all the way to the Ancient Greeks, and possibly even further (Haynes). Every group in history has had their mythologies and epic tales of crime fighters, they just did not call them superheroes. For example, Achilles only had one weakness (his heel) and was by the Greeks definition, considered a hero (greek gods.org). The same goes for heroes like Perseus, Theseus, and even Heracles. Back then though instead of being changed into a super soldier in a lab by a German scientist or creating a flying metal suit in the desert, these heroes were part god which explained their extra ordinary abilities. Super crime fighters have always existed, but when comic books began in the 19th century a new set of rules was created to guide their content to be more appropriate than the Greek tales (Coville). The Comics Code was a list of regulations regarding the depiction of certain events in comic books maintained by the Comics Magazine Association of America (Nyberg). The code was very strict and eventually challenged by Stan Lee (one of the creators of Marvel) through a story arc in the Spiderman Comics that dealt with drug abuse. ... Stilltoe provides reader s a look into this metaphor right from the very beginning, when Arthur states it was Saturday night, the best and bingiest glad time of the week, one of the fifty two holidays in the slow turning Big wheel of the year, a violent preamble to a prostrate Sabbath. The reader is not aware of the double meaning of this sentence until the end when Arthur appears to be reformed of his cheating rebellious ways and begins planning a wedding and future with Doreen. The law requires employers with 50 or more employees to allow up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. • 38. Building Elements Of A Successful Team Proactive Planning In meetings requested by managers, various agendas are discussed and explained. Of them, the plan to establish self directed and high performance teams is spotlighted. The company needs to establish a team that combines the different talent and work performance of its employees in order to accomplish a particular goal and purpose. Concerns arise when some of the company s managers are experiencing some teams that are self directed and high performing, while others are not. Therefore, discussions are held which aim at familiarizing all employees with what it means to be self directed and high performing. In the process, they brainstorm on ideas like building elements of a successful team. If a manager has not fulfilled the demand of having this type of team, they are focused on as needing more aid in successfully moving forward towards the goal. At the time, those who are struggling are expected to learn from those who are doing well in order for them to identify the mistakes and how to correct them. In team building, through the help of leadership within the company, a team of people collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal. (Midura Glover, 2005) In this case, leaders are managers and they make decisions, clarify goals, build commitment practices and coach their team. • 43. Parexel Case Comparison Paper Introduction While social media platforms present avenues for the freedom of expression, the rules or regulations that guide the privilege may sometimes be curtailed or applied wrongly. Employees and organizations are facing the dilemma on what to post or not to post on these platforms. An employee may decide to air something through these public arenas without the knowledge that their actions may surpass their rights and thus infringe on others rights or cause damages to other people (Boyce, 2014).
