The teacher initiates an informal interaction with 
the pupils and she tries to sustain the interest 
throughout the class. 
Entry Activity 
Teacher creates a mental readiness in pupils by 
asking them about the parts of speech.

Teacher thus leads the learners to the classroom 
activity. 
Procedure
1. Teacher clarifies the aim in the class. 
Dear children, today we are going to learn a part 
in grammar. For that let’s play a game. 
2. Teacher places a box containing lots on the 
table 
3. Teacher asks ten students to come forward 
and asks each students to take a lot and act 
what is written in it. 
4. After the lots are over, teacher asks the class, 
Did you get any idea? 
Your friends done some actions based on 
some English words. Shall we give name to 
these words? 
5. Teacher explains the idea that the words that 
denote action are called verbs. 
Eat, drink, write, call, walk, jump, read, 
run, talk, cry, laugh, sleep. 
6. Teacher asks the pupils to find more verbs 
and continue the game. 
7. Teacher puts another set of lots into the box. 
8. Teacher asks the ten students to take the lot 
and read what is written in it. 
9. Teacher asks those students who got verbs 
ending in ‘–ed’ to form a group. 
Jumped, cried, laughed, called, walked 
10. The rest of the pupils form a group. 
Ran, drank, wrote, came, ate, went. 
11. Teacher explains the next concept that verbs 
can be regular- verbs that form their past 
tense by the addition of ‘-ed’ and irregular – 
verbs that form past tense without the 
addition of ‘-ed’. 
12. The game continues as the students gather 
more verbs and form their past forms
