Classroom Activity Student’s
Response
Classroom Interaction
Teacher forms a good rapport with the students by
interacting with them. She gives an activity card with
some pictures shown below and asks the students to
identify the verb.
Entry Activity
Teacher creates a mental readiness in the pupils
through a game. The teacher says a sentence and the
pupils do the corresponding action.
E.g. Rani says write....
Seena says jump....
Hari says run...etc. these are said with rhythm.
Teacher says positive and negative sentences and those
who make a mistake and those who are late will be out.
Working in Group
The teacher divided the classroom into 5 groups
randomly. She asks the learners to sit in groups.
Procedure
Based on the picture shown at the beginning of this
session, the teacher asks questions such as
What is this in this picture?
What are they doing?
Then the teacher asks them to say the sentences
corresponding to the picture such as
Rani is writing
Children are cycling etc.
Concept Presentation
Present Continuous Tense is used to express a
continued or ongoing action at present time. It expresses
an action which is in progress at the time of speaking.
For example, a person says, “I am writing a letter”. It
means that he is in the process ofwriting a letter now.
Structure of Sentence: Subject+ am/is/are+ (1st form of
verb or base verb+ ing) + object
E.g. she is playing cricket.
I am writing a letter.
They are playing football.
Classroom Activity
Then the teacher places some incomplete
sentence cards in two boxes. One group take a card and
then the next group select the appropriate sentence card
from the second box.
HHiimmaa iiss Weaving
The groups fix these sentences on the bulletin board.
Then these sentences are repeated aloud.
Follow up Activity
The teacher shows them a chart with substitution table and asks them to
make as many sentences as possible from it.
