The Deadly Duel Of Baron Von Instetten And Major Crampas
The Deadly Duel
Baron von Instetten and Major Crampas
The Prussian town of Kessin was left in shock over the unexpected duel of Baron von Instetten
and Major Crampas. This duel took place over the issue of an affair in which the wife of Baron
von Instetten, Effi Briest, had with Major Crampas. Baron von Instetten was a man of character,
position and sound morality. (Effi Briest, Chapter 2). He was an ambitious civil servant who was
highly respected by the people around him. Major Crampas, on the other hand, was the total
contrast of Baron von Instetten. He was a man who has had many affairs, a ladies man. (Effi
Briest, Chapter 13). He disregarded rules and regulations and considered them a bore. It all started
when Baron von Instetten marry Effi Briest. At the time of their marriage Instetten was thirty eight
years old while Effi was only seventeen. Instetten was already a senior civil servant responsible for
the large rural district of Kessin. Even though at the time Effi was only seventeen, she was already
conditioned with the social and cultural expectations around her to marry such a distinguished man
as Instetten.
Being the free young girl that she was, Effi could not conform to the social and cultural
expectations put on her as the wife of Instetten. She could not deny herself and her playful
personality. No matter how hard Effi tried, she realized day in and day out that she was unhappy.
Her ambition might be fulfilled, but her desire for fun was never met.

The Most Important Event Of My High School Swim Career
How are you feeling? I once heard a voice asking from behind. I turn around to see my coach
standing there with a big smile on her face. My eyes lit up and the insides of my body start
tingling. My heart starts beating faster than it already was. I try my best to put on a soft smile
even though I was feeling stressed. Nervously, I responded, I feel okay. In roughly two minutes, it
was going to be my turn to swim the most important event of my high school swim career, the
infamous 100 meters Breaststroke I ve been swimmingever since I was six years old; only this time
would be my last chance to make a Statecut in the event. These next two minutes felt like a life or
death situation. So many things were going through my mind, I quickly gathered my nerves and
reminded myself that this was it. It was everything I ve been working towards for for the past
four years. It has been my goal ever since I joined Swim Team freshman year that I would qualify
for State to swim in the A Girls Relay as well as an individual event of my own. Out of the two, I
ve only succeeded one. Before my coach left to get into position and watch this fascinating race,
she did her best to calm me down. She whispered a secret tip she used to do before her races. She
advised me to cough. This may seem weird at first, but the tip was to cough when you feel like
you are going to have a panic attack. Cough when your heart feels like it is pounding out of your
chest. Cough to reset your systems. Cough to

The Automotive Industry Has Done A Good Job
The automotive industry has become one of the greatest industries today and is one of the world s
most crucial economic sectors by revenue. All the same, not only does automotive industry

Economic
Over time the prices of automobiles have become on expensive due to the rise in the inflation rate.
In terms of infrastructural development in the auto industry is one of most demanding fields of
business. One of the major external factors that can affect the price elasticity comes from the oil
dependence. Some other factors that cause shifts in supply price elasticity; are the taxes that the
government place on automotive manufacturers. In addition, to the population figures, and the
buying potentiality of the consumers. Another aspect that can cause an area of concern is the price
of steel. Although a lot of cars produce today are made of fiberglass, steel is still a needed
necessary component in the automotive industry.
On the other hand, in an effort to lower the costs outsourcing of materials, components and services
would increase and technology advancement gap which could lead to drop the prices. The
automotive industry brings significant economic benefits to other countries.

Information Technology Systems, Their Performance And Risk...
According to Richard Brisebois, Greg Boyd, and Ziad Shadid, IT Governance focuses specifically
on information technology systems, their performance and risk management. The primary goals of
IT Governance are to assure that the investments in IT generate business value, and to mitigate the
risks that are associated with IT. This can be done by implementing an organizational structure with
well defined roles for the responsibility of information, business processes, applications, and
infrastructure. (Brisebois, Boyd, and Shadid, n.d.). IM/IT priorities recently changed to concentrate
on the integration of systems across several facilities, computerization of patient records and
improve decision support for clinicians and managers. The IT Governance Institute business models
developed an in depth value realization process, directing IM/IT leadership to obtain their goals,
and guides organizations make business decisions accurately and timely. The five primary
components of a healthcare IM/IT governance includes 1) Developing a consistent IM/IT strategy,
2) Aligning IM/IT with organizational strategy, 3) Developing IM/IT infrastructure, architecture,
and policies, 4) Setting IM/IT project priorities, and overseeing investments in IM/IT infrastructure,
and 5) Using IM/IT benefits assessment to enhance accountability. The first component, Developing

localities to individual chefs. And now there are over 200 thousands raumen restaurants in Japan.

Long-Term Effects of Global Tourism on Economy
Long term effects of global tourism on economy
Tourism is the travel tour activities which provides travelers leisure facilities and service industry.
And it is also a kind of leisure entertainment that has complex social phenomenon, involves the
politics, economy, culture, history, geography, law, and other social fields. Generally speaking,
tourism has a profound impact for the country.
Tourism gradually has become a prevalent activity all over the world. Compared to 2009, there
were 1002 million international tourists in 2010, which increased 6.6% over the last
year.(UNWTO, 2011) And then, according to the the United Nations World Tourism Organization s
(UNWTO) report, in the first two months of 2011, the number of International ... Show more

The report said that there were 98 million people were employed directly in 2011 because of the
tourism industry all around the world(WTTC(2), 2012). This might be the biggest benefit for the
tourism industry and the local citizens. Furthermore, being employed means there will have the
opportunity to make money, not only for the industry but also for the people. In consequence, this
will be a win win situation, tourism helps local establish the foundation of the economy, and the
local government helps the tourism industry to win interest and prestige.
Long term effects of global tourism on economy
However, there are some negative points of tourism. One of them is the seasonal employment in
some places, and this will lead to the many people facing the problem of unemployment outside of
the peak tourist season. For example, this will occur in tourist attractions and resort towns, if an
attraction opens to the visitors, like skiing in Swiss in the winter. The skiing coaches will teach
people how to go skiing, but once the snow melted, they will lose their jobs and the staff as well.
Furthermore, the impact of tourism on the environment is a significant issue as the climate change
is most troublesome problem. Over the years, the environmental pollution caused by tourism was
almost out of control, such as deforestation and CO2 emissions from increased air travel, has already

Advertising Is Protected By The First Amendment Of The...
Research: False Advertising
Advertising is protected by the First Amendment of the United States constitution. Conversely,
advertising requires less control from the First Amendment, but requires the majority of control
from the government and most importantly, the Federal Trade Commission. The Federal Trade
Commission controls the content and images that are being advertised to consumers that seem to
be exaggerated or just plain over the top. With that being said, false advertising is one of the biggest
rising issues amongst many companies, celebrities, business, and much more. False advertising is

The Federal Trade Commission enforces these truth in advertising laws, and it applies the same
standards no matter where an advertisement appears in newspapers and magazines, online, in the
mail, or on billboards or buses. The Federal Trade Commission does not have one clear
definition, but it does explain that companies and services are not allowed to exaggerate their
content or images in order to advertise to their consumers to purchase a specific product or
service. Again, these advertisements can be seen throughout the media as well as in the public.
Another legal definition can be found under the Lanham Act where it is defined as, Under
Section 43(a) of the Lanham Act, a claim can be made against a defendant for false or
misleading advertising. For a claim against a defendant for false advertising, the following
elements are met and the plaintiff must show: (1) defendant made false or misleading statements
as to his own products (or another s); (2) actual deception, or at least a tendency to deceive a
substantial portion of the intended audience; (3) deception is material in that it is likely to
influence purchasing decisions; (4) the advertised goods travel in interstate commerce; and (5) a
likelihood of injury to plaintiff. However, the plaintiff does not have to prove actual injury. The

The Cove Dolphins
Approximately 20,000 dolphins are killed legally every year and thousands more are sold
inhumanely in Taiji, Japan. The majority of these dolphins are sold to marine parks and
aquariums around the world. Louie Psihoyos and Ric O Barry s eye opening documentary The
Cove raises awareness about the gruesome killings of dolphins in Japan. Ironically Ric O Barry
feels that he initiated this problem, as he was one of the first dolphintrainers/capturers in the 1960 s
for the show Flipper. After witnessing the star, Flipper the Bottlenose Dolphin commit suicide in his
arms, he became a marine activist, which led to the production of this documentary to stop the
problem he created. Louie and Rick expose the plight of the dolphin, the potential... Show more

The universal image of the dolphin portrays the illusion that dolphins are always happy because
they consistently appear to be smiling. This, however, is nature s greatest deception as it is simply
the shape of their mouth. Throughout the film the juxtaposition of the beauty of nature is harshly
contrasted with the ugliness of the underlying secrets of the industry in Japan and around the
world. The fishing industry is largest in Japan therefore that is where this movie was filmed. The
captive industry has become a lucrative billion dollar worldwide trade, with all money made from
the exploitation, imprisonment and lifelong suffering of these living beings. A live dolphin
captured for a marine mammal park can be valued up to $200,000. The most shocking fact is that
this is legal. The International Whaling Commission outlawed commercial whaling in 1986, but
dolphin hunts remain legal. The film s impact was largely due to the emotional ties between O
Barry and dolphins. Although the filmmakers are extremely biased, his convincing pleads for our
help are strategically made at the most emotional moments. He believes that bottlenose dolphins are
being hunted the most The fishermen are searching for bottlenose dolphins like flipper . Luckily
this type of dolphin is not yet endangered but this

Essay On Minimum Wage In Australia
Minimum wage is the lowest pay permitted by law that businesses should legitimately pay their
laborers. Comparably, it is the price floor underneath which specialists may not offer their work.
Even though the minimum wage laws are already in use in numerous places, contrasts of feeling
exist about the advantages and disadvantages of minimum wage. Supporters say it expands the way

Benefits Of Mandatory HIV Testing
Mandatory HIV testing should be enforced, because for those who have the virus and do not know
that they have it, could possibly be spreading it to many of partners. If the government starts
enforcing this potential law, it would prevent many misfortunes and burdens. An article read, It will
help people make informed choices. Some people are not honest enough to disclose their HIV
status (Obemeyer). This quote explains that for those who do not have HIV, will not make
informed choices about intercourse. In fact, it will raise the formality of the subject and create
better choices. Mandatory HIV testing would overall lower virus ratings and prevent newborns and
adults from acquiring a virus.
People living with HIV are thriving and can continue, because those citizens got tested early

further that everyone should be tested, and for those who have it can keep it under control and not
let it further escalate into something fatal. Mandatory HIV testing can prevent a good deal of
misunderstanding and it can also help prevent spreading diseases to other people. A very worried
discussion when talking about HIV is the health care workers. HIV transmission in healthcare
settings is what most are worried about; but although the the workers take a great risk working

Macon, Georgia – We Made The Big Move At The Beginning
Macon, Georgia We made the big move at the beginning of my senior year and I was around 16
at the time. I had all of my senior credits for school in Colorado because of advanced placement
courses. But Texas had a whole new set of rules regarding graduation. There was a test called
TAAS, which I was expected to take with less than a year of preparation, while the rest of the
students had been raised and prepared for this test their entire school life. I knew that I would
have academic obstacles because the curriculum was also different and most of it focused on
southern issues that were new to me, such as FFA and welding courses as electives. If the new high

From the moment we arrived in Macon, the family treated us like outsiders because of what little
they knew about my dad and our new move. When it became evident that we would be there for
a while, I was enrolled in the local high school, where I had numerous cousins and one of my
younger sisters with me. My sister quickly found a spot among the it kids, while I stood back
and observed trying to make sure she stayed clear of trouble. I had few if any peers who talked
to me when not required. This school was a majority African American, so again I m not fitting
in with the races because I talk and act differently (my dad made sure we spoke proper, no jargon
all the time). There were teasing and name calling but I remained strong because I knew that my
younger sister was getting the worse of the deal. She had to begin school the way she enrolled
and things were so bad for her, that during her first week she got into multiple altercations with
other students, some who were her blood relatives. I had no friends, more so enemies and my
guard was always up because my cousins loved to get me in trouble, even when I had done
nothing wrong. Finishing high school remained my biggest concern because at least then I could
try to work and find a new home for us (we had to stay with relatives). I never could stand

The Meaning Of Life Milestones In High School
There are many significant in your life. From being born to your first step to going to
school. There are life milestones but milestones are so much more than just a moment. Milestones
are what make your life up, where you take a minute and say, Wow I actually did this. For me, one
of my biggest milestones was high schoolgraduation. It wasn t the actual graduation itself, but the
meaning underneath and what it meant for me for the rest of my life. Not only was I growing
older and moving on with my entire environment changed. Graduation marked the end of a chapter
in my book with some people and continues new ones with others. I will never forget Graduation
day. I remember the morning with yelling and having to get ready, the evening with the actual
graduation, and the night when it was all said and done.
Graduation morning was really hectic. Not only was I graduation high school but my brother
had just graduated college. We woke up that morning and I had to eat breakfast fast to get ready
for my graduation. My mother insisted on dressing me in my stole, pins, and all the ropes I
received from high school. After that was done my brother put on his gown. We went to
Brookside Garden and took so many pictures. I was super excited but the hat was killing me.
There wasn t one good part about it, it was itchy and kept trying to fall off. Plus on top of that, I

The Importance Of Freedom In My Wood
Freedom in My Wood In this essay, we will be covering My Wood and the irony regarding the
effects of ownership and property. With the use of irony, E.M. Forster s My Wood, illustrates the
negative impact that comes from owning things, and how above all else freedom is what we
should strive for. In the tale My Wood, it displays ideas that Forster had in regard to ownershipand
lack of freedom. This essay will explore those important aspects deeper. It will encompass the
very irony at the core of Forster s opinions. It will also demonstrate just how devastating being an
owner and having things and desiring things is. Lastly, this essay will explore just how important
and applicable, these ideas are today in our current social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Though the way he uses irony is dark it is effective. It made people think more about their own
lives and on the materialism in their world at that time. Incidentally, the essay leaves you with the
thought of what the real effects of ownership and property are.
So, what really was the way that Forster used best to reveal the effects of ownership? Well it all
started with his four points. In a way, he created a list of all the things you should avoid if you want
to be happy and unburdened. That s the first step the heavy burden that possessing something
like his Wood is, as Forster states, Property produces men of weight, and it is a man of weight
who failed to get into the Kingdom of Heaven (Forster 247). It is a prime example of the
beginning, the beginning of the loss of freedom both within yourself and within your life. So, in
essence someone wants something they receive it and it leaves them with the burden of it being
theirs. Second point was feeling that this ownership would bring happiness. What it did was create
a desire for more, it created this restless unfulfillment and a need to protect something that did not
bring the desired freedom. This second point showed that ownership created a desire an
unquenchable desire and an anxiety to protect that desire that did not bring the desired freedom.
The third point was that owning

Apology In A Sorry State
In A Sorry State, the Canadian government s attempt to make several apologies is thoughtful;
however, simply uttering the words, I m sorry cannot undue the trauma of the past. The apology
is more for the people giving them, rather than for the actual victim. As Stephan Harper
apologized for Canada s colonial past, he said: it is the core of Canadian soul (Miyagawa 2012).
This simply portrays that the government is apologizing because it is Canadian of them to do so.
This is a limitation of an apologyas it creates an overly celebratory image of the government (Farley
2017). Instead of making the apology about the Aboriginal peoples, it focuses on the graciousness
of the government.

The Consequences Of Child Poverty
Child poverty is not only referring to the phenomenon of children living in poverty, but also
experiencing deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive,
develop and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or
participate as full and equal members of society (United Nations, 2007). It seems to be the situation
happening in the developing countries. However, children from developed countries as New Zealand
are also suffering from poverty. Based on the data provided by Child Poverty Monitor, 295,000
Kiwi kids live in households with low income (2016). It is a urgent problem for our future
generations as living in poverty may have strong influence on their future. This... Show more

However, families living in poverty do not have a clean environment to provide for their sick
children, so this very common disease may cause death.
Secondly, discrimination also has strong influences on child poverty. Based on the data provided
by Stats NZ, 2.3% of New Zealanders experience racial discrimination in employment. Pacific,
MДЃori and Asian peoples are more likely to experience racial discrimination in the workplace
than the rest of New Zealanders (2012). This situation can be referred with child poverty as over
almost 50% children in New Zealand living in poverty are Maori. The hardship rates of them are
twice or three times higher than other groups, so they are more likely to live in overpopulated
community and are more likely to be admitted to hospital due to attempt, disregard or ill treatment
(Dyer, 2012). Thus, discrimination is also a strong factor of child poverty. Furthermore, the
consequence of discrimination cannot be ignored; the marginalized minority group may be denied
basic rights to citizenship, such as access to employment, access to education and access to
fundamental living in general. In addition, government forces also play a significant role in the
group s limited access to resource, partly because of unfairness, violent and sometimes abusive
treatments of the group solely based on religion and ethnicity (Sewidan, 2015). The discrimination
observed in NZ has pushed the marginalized

Causes Of The Sino-Japanese War
The start of the Russo Japanese was made in January 1904. Previously, Japan had broken off
diplomatic relations with Russia on February 6, 1904, following with the attack on Port Arthur
February 8 and declaring war on Russia February 10. Over the span of a month, Korea was
occupied by soldiers, advancing into the Manchurian territory and the Liaodong Peninsulaoccupied
by naval forces. An August siege of Port Arthur followed the attack and fell in January 1905.
Gradually, both powers found difficulty to continue fighting. The war ended with Theodore
Roosevelt mediation; Japan had won which ensued the Portsmouth Treaty to grant Japan back it s
sovereignty in China and Manchuria, along with special access to the Liaodong Peninsula. What
were the underlying causes of the Russo Japanese War? To what extent did nationalism/imperialism
contribute to the war? What did the government do to contribute to the war? Japan s motives for the
war stemmed from tension made between Russia; the Triple Intervention and the construction of
the Trans Siberian railroad. Imperialist and nationalistic motives drove Japan to change its leader of
power and created a blanket of astigmatism throughout Japan s people, using authoritative and
irrational actions, taking away human rights and installing many ideas.
Before the war, events like the Sino Japanese War, Triple Intervention, Anglo Japanese Treaty, and
the Trans Siberian railroad contributed to the tension. In 1894, the Sino Japanese War broke out
between Japan and China, competing for their rights and interests in Korea; the result of the war
lead to Japan s victory. Following the war, in 1895, the Triple Intervention (Russia, France, and
Germany) entailed that Japan to retrocede all territorial victories from the war. This included to
give back the Liaodong Peninsula to China and to resign control over China. Japan was in no state
to risk military confrontation therefore couldn t fight back (Emergence of Modern Japan).
Subsequently, Russia proceeded to build a railroad through Manchurian territory into the Liaodong
Peninsula, continuing its expansionist policies in northeast Asia. Japan, in an effort to make a
truce, Ito offered a trade off arrangement with Russia: Japan

Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee Essay
In J.M. Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians, the Magistrate comes to discover the humanity
of the barbarian through his interactions with the blind girl, which eventually leads him to learn
about the nature of his own humanity. Although the Magistrate is more lenient on the Barbarians
than Colonel Joll, he still unknowingly objectifies them, while placing himself above them. It is
only when he is imprisoned that he comes to realize the fragility of his own humanity. Ultimately
Coetzee uses the magistrate s journey from empirical leader to broken and fearful prisoner to
express that peace and stability between people can only be obtained when all humanity is valued.
At the beginning of the novel, the magistrate actually seems to... Show more content on

The magistrate states
This body in my bed, for which I am responsible, or so it seems, otherwise why do I keep it? For
the time being, perhaps forever, I am simply bewildered. It seems all one whether I lie down
beside her and fall asleep or fold her in a sheet and bury her in the snow. Nevertheless, bending
over her, touching my fingertips to her forehead, I am careful not to spill the wax. (43)
Here, the magistrate simply refers to the girl as a body, not as a living human. He claims that he
is responsible for her, showing that he sees her as a possession. He even refers to her as it,
which clearly objectifies her. The fact that he wonders why he keeps her shows that her only
purpose to him is sexual gratification; other than that she holds no human quality. He says that
there would be no difference between lying next to her and burying her in the snow, showing
that he has no emotional connection to her. When he is careful not to spill the wax, he is
showing some sort of care for her, but only so far as one would care for an object, just as anyone
would want to avoid spilling something on an object of some value. The magistrate is able to
condemn Joll for his dehumanization of the barbarians, but only because Joll s purpose for the
barbarians has to do with the goals of the empire. They are objects who have no value should they
fail to meet the empire s needs. For the magistrate, the goals of the empire are not of paramount
importance. However, when

Impact Of Divorce On Children
Impact of Divorce on Children and Cry for Support
Divorce and it impact on children have long been discussed with many opposing views. Many
studies will validate the negative consequences of divorce on children, with few studies providing
positive feedback attributes. However, research will argue the need for a better understanding the
impact of divorce have on children and the importance of immediate counseling to work through
indescribable concerns (Arkes, 2014). Studies have made references contextual factors in divorce
that have led to the maladaptive adjustments of children (American Psychological Association,

Essay On Texas Salary
The Texas legislature is a bicameral body which is composed of a 31 member Senate and a 150
member House of Representative. The state legislature meets at the capital in Austin. State
legislators in Texas salaries consist of making $600 per month or $7,200 per year. Some people feel
their salary is too low, others feel as though they should raise their salaries to a sustainable career
level wage. I believe the state legislatureshould not have their salaries raised and I feel they are
currently receiving the amount they deserve. When you take into consideration the amount of
work they do and politicians are not well liked by people, are reasons why their current salary pay
is justified.

In an article titled, How Much Should State Legislators Get Paid by Amelia Thomson DeVeaux, it
discusses the benefits of increasing a state legislator s salary. Peverill Squire, a professor of
political science at the University of Missouri and an expert on state legislatures created a scale
which created to assess professionalism. The question of salaries has haunted American
legislatures since the 1640s, said Squire. With the use of this scale, the question received a
possible answer. Politicians found the state legislatures who meet for longer time periods and
give their legislators more resources are capable of being more productive and doing a better
job. ...more resources...are more efficient, passing a greater percentage of bills overall and
enacting more bill per legislative day (Thomson DeVeaux). Amelia Thomson DeVeaux makes
reasonable points in her article on reasons why state legislators should receive a higher salary
however, she didn t take into consideration that politicians are going to try and make a career out
of being a state legislature. With an increased salary, legislatures aren t necessarily agreeing or
promising to work better or efficiently. If they aren t agreeing to doing more or doing better, why

Types Of Strategies For Foreign Locations Essay
There are two types of strategies for foreign locations, a centralized location from which a facility
can serve the world market and a decentralized location where facilities are set up in various
regional or national locations close to major markets. A centralized location is chosen when there
is a substantial difference among various countries in manufacturing costs due to each country s
costs, political economy, and culture. It s preferred when trade barriers are low, exchange rates are
expected to remain stable, the product s value to weight ratio is high, and the product serves
universal needs. If the production technology used by the firm has high fixed costs and high
minimum efficient scale relative to global demand they can benefit from a centralized location.
Centralizing is also favored when externalities arise from the concentration of like enterprises that
favor certain locations. Conversely, decentralization is preferred when trade barriers are high,
location externalities aren t important, exchange rates are volatile, the product s value to weight
ratio is low, and the product does not serve universal needs. If production technology has low fixed
costs, low minimum efficient scale and flexible manufacturing technology is not available,
decentralizing is favored. Decentralization is also chosen if manufacturing costs in various
countries are not substantially impacted by differences in factor costs, political economy, and
culture. There are

The Balance Of Payment ( Bop ) Essay
According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP) is a statement
used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the rest of the world by both
private and public sectors for a specified time period, usually every quarter or year. It is known as
Balance of International Payment , it involves all transactions between a country s residents and its
non residents involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of
the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a country has paid or
given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically, the BOP should be zero,
meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should balance; however, in the reality, this is
rarely the case.
The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account, and the
financial account:
1. The Current Account
The current account refers to the export and import of goods and services into a country. Within the
current account are credits and debits on the trade of merchandise, including goods such as raw
materials and manufactured goods that are bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services
refer to receipts from tourism, transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or
management consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income generating assets
such as stocks. Last but not least, it includes the unilateral

during winter break last year, we decided to spend an entire week in Cozumel doing the Ultimate
Diver Experience as branded by the travel company. That trip did not disappoint. My dad and I

twice a day, every day, and it was spectacular. Though my dad and I have always been close, it
was different for me to see him in a relaxed state, as he s usually busy doing 1000 things at once

experience together. The trip we took wasn t just to get away from the world for a while, it was

our feet to watch the game, the Cowboys were playing! We ordered what i m convinced were the
best chicken nachos on the planet earth, may or may not have downed the traditional 18th
birthday tequila shot, and watched the Cowboys take home the win. But from there the night
was not over! My dad had planned something really special. We packed up and headed back to the

To your horrification the young street vendor is engulfed in flames. Yes Mohamed Bouazizi did set
himself on fire as to commence this revolution in Tunisia. This sparked another chain of events
which had some horrifying effects on both the political and economic scenarios of the entire
northern Africa.
This revolution can be deemed a failure on multiple streams of thought ranging from economic to
political. To structurally analyze the extent of this man made failure lets logically sort out the key
events of the uprising. It all commemorated with a jury of self obsessed egotistic individuals who
ruled. In January 2012 Ben Ali the political ruler of Tunisia gave in to the public s demands and
fled the country. This key event sparked hope in the minds of people with the message that toppling
the Arab regime is not an impossible task. And this is where most of the problems began.
Until here the riots were relatively peaceful. When riots started in Bahrain Saudi Arabia saw it
their moral obligation send forth troops to assist their neighbors. Following this the public saw no
option but to resort to violence and vandalism. This had yet another ripple effect on not only the
masses of surrounding countries but also on their governments. This only aggravated with the
bombing of Tripoli and the killing of Gaddafi. Some political leaders saw it wise to flee their
nations such as that of Yemen but some leaders were just persistent.

Reflection On Internships
Reflection
In the beginning of my sophomore year of college, I became passionate about public policy.
Knowing that just my education was not going to suffice with the aggressive job market directly
after school, I found myself being challenged to look for a position in my field for that summer.
Recommendations from family friends led me to apply for Senator Rob Portman s prestigious
internship in Washington, D.C. The internship was a reach as I was competing with some of the
top students in my state. My hard work dedication paid off: a couple of months later the office of
Senator Rob Portman extended an invitation for me to join their team that summer. I ventured to
the District of Columbia with two main goals: first, to discover my intended career path; and
second, to try to understand the language of government, since it will be relevant to my career.
Needless to say, I was so ecstatic to get a call from the office that I immediately began preparing
my move in May. I was not familiar with our nation s capital as I had never been before. I decided
to stay in the George Washington University Greek Housing dorms that were a quick 15 minute
commute to work via metro. The early morning hustle and bustle was a shock to me, but it was
something that I fell in love with immediately.
I was the first intern out of the nine interns to show up to the office. Once the last person arrived to
the glamorous Russell Senate office, one of the staffers took us to a large conference

Introduction Computer Information Systems (CIS) have forever altered the way in which
organizations conduct business. No longer is commerce managed through clunky and expensive
paper based transactions. The advantage of this archaic process, though, was that it allowed
corporations to store their documents in secure locations under tight lock key. Today however,
these cabinets have been replaced with database systems. Database systems are the modern
version of filing cabinets, which house the vast data transacted by corporations. Although
databases have eliminated the need for paper based transactions, they have exposed themselves
to a different problem altogether. As SANS (2015) puts it, most of an organization s information
[today] is maintained in a small, central location, compared to the large file rooms associated
with the pre information technology era, therefore those desiring to cause harm to a large amount
of information in a short time span now have a convenient means to do so. Because of this
paradigm shift, IT professionals should enforce modern database security auditing policies in
order to protect data. But are organizations under attack? Well a shocking statistic by Gartner
shows that, 75% attacks come from web applications and 2/3rd of web applications are vulnerable.
And as per OWASP, 2013, SQLInjection based attacks are in the top 10 since the past few years.
These numbers are startling, and demonstrate

Gettysburg
Living in close proximity to Gettysburg, I have spent many weekends of my childhood hiking
through the numerous acres of woods on Culp s Hill, climbing the gigantic boulders in Devil s Den,
and tramping through the marshes of Plum Run. Enjoying the scenic beauty is just the beginning as
to what Gettysburg has to offer. However, why is Gettysburg so important to us all as Americans?
What made this small town so famous that tens of thousands of tourists from all over the globe
come to walk through the many wheat fields in the surrounding countryside? While wandering
those same fields that Union and Confederate soldiers fought on some one hundred and forty years
ago, I asked myself why this place was so significant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next question I asked Mr. Kise focused on why the victory at Gettysburg was so very pivotal
to the Union. In my own analysis of the battle, I did not expect the answer that I received from him.
He said that in his own personal opinion of what makes Gettysburg so important, is Lincoln s
speech four months after the battle (Kise). He goes on to explain that even though the Union Army
won a substantial victory at Gettysburg and helped to turn back the invading Confederate Army, it
was when Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address that gave the battle meaning. Lincoln turned the
war from merely holding the Union together, to giving a new birth of freedom (Kise).
My next question for Mr. Kise is probably the most asked question of the battle of Gettysburg. I
wanted to know what would have occurred if the Confederacy had won the battle. Mr. Kise came
to the conclusion that Lee would have had to withdraw eventually due to the fact that he did not
have many supplies left and he had lost almost a third of his army (Kise). He also argues that the
North, with its superior transportation system, could have quickly brought up other troops (Kise).
In all, Mr. Kise felt that Gettysburg was indeed a key battle for the Union in that the Army of the
Potomac was victorious. However, there were other factors that made it such a key battle as

Most educators believe that children with disabilities and nondisabled children should be taught
together whenever possible. Isolating children with disabilities may lower their self esteem and
may reduce their ability to deal with other people. The practice of integrating children with
disabilities into regular school programs is called mainstreaming, or inclusion. Students with
disabilities attend special classrooms or schools only if their need for very specialized services
makes mainstreaming impossible. Many children with disabilities attend regular classes most of
the school day: They work with a specially trained teacher for part of each day to improve
specific skills. These sessions may be held in a classroom called a resource room, which may be
equipped with such materials as Braille typewriters and relief maps for blind students. Other
students with disabilities attend special classes most of the day but join the rest of the children for
certain activities. For example, students with mental retardation (MR) may join other children who
do not have MR for art and physical education. Although the place where instruction occurs (the
setting) is seen as important in the field of special education, the types of curricular modifications
and interventions may be a more important area to focus on in the future.

His idea not only helped to revolutionize and industrialize America, but it also established the
foundation of a social and economic infrastructure that exists today. David Gartman defines this
beginning as Fordism :
Henry Ford s revolutionary mass production processes for manufacturing automobiles stands as an
almost universal symbol for modern industrial capitalism. Both its hitherto unimagined material
productivity and its similarly unprecedented impoverishment of the human spirit are simultaneously
captured by the contradictory image of the automobile assembly line. Along such lines and in
other mechanized processes pioneered by Ford, degraded and dehumanized workers toil to
produce the very products that enrich their leisure lives. The incredible productivity of Fordist
mass production makes possible, perhaps even necessary, mass consumption. Historians remind us
that not only did Henry Ford innovate production methods that steadily lowered the price of a
complex, mechanical consumer good, but he also pioneered the transformation of the toiling
masses into consumers by raising his workers wages to an incredible five dollars a day. In liberal
ideology, the sins of Fordist mass production against the human spirit are more than atoned for by
this rise in material prosperity of the masses that is its corollary within industrial capitalism.

Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie Essay
Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie
From the beginning, the figure of the narrator shows that Williams play will not follow the
conventions of realistic theater. The narrator breaks the conceptual quot;fourth wall quot; of
naturalistic drama by addressing the audience directly. Tom also tells us that he is going to give the
audience truth disguised as illusion, making the audience conscious of the illusory quality of
theater. By playing with the theme of memory and its distortions, Williams is free to use music,
monologues, and projected images to haunting effect. Tom, as narrator, tells the audience that the
gentleman caller is a real person‹more real, in many ways, than any other character‹but he

The qualities of glass parallel Laura s characteristics: like the tiny glass animals, she is delicate,
beautiful in her oddness, terribly fragile. The little collection, like Laura, in an entity that is
locked completely in the realm of the home. The animals must be kept on a little shelf and
polished; there is only one place where they belong. In a similar way, Laura is kept and cared for,
dependent on her mother and brother for financial support. The Blue Roses are another important
symbol of Laura. The image of blue roses is a beautiful one‹and it is the image that is on the
screen at the start of Scene Two. But blue roses are also pure fantasy, non existent in the real
world. Laura, like a blue rose, is special, unique even, but she is also cut off from real life. When
Tom accidentally breaks some of the pieces in the glass menagerie, the incident foreshadows
Laura s heartbreak later on in the play. The event emphasizes the collection s fragility, and so
metaphorically we are reminded of Laura s fragility. Tom is the one responsible, and the pain of
his position is made clear. As much as he would like to live his own life, his actions have a great
effect on the well being and security of his mother and sister. By being reckless, he destroys the
pretend world of his sister. Later on, he chooses to live his own life rather than live up to his
responsibility for her security.

demonstrated with the deaths of the seventeen Aurelianos. The crosses on their foreheads don t
merely symbolize the cross but can also be seen as an X marking a target. This is the only way the
Aurelianos can be killed. Marquez gives religion a negative tone in this instance for it marks the

which there is a big need for. Yet what happens to those in the middle? Rabbi Aaron Friedman
compares the middle of the road students to the middle class in the economy. It is a big issue yet
not many people have a solution for them. He feels that rather than always putting the emphasis on
the above average students which many schools like to tout we need to have smaller classes which
will help more students be able to keep up in collegeand beyond. In order to not have more students

The Suppression of the Indian Religion and Culture in the...
Thesis Statement: I believe that a profound effect on Indian religion practiced in the New World
was caused by Columbus and the Age of Discovery. Historical evidence proves that, before there
were Europeans on this continent, there were native peoples living in communion with their
environment and, very often, each other. Their religious practices were interwoven with their daily
lives and religion held a prominent, significant place within their culture. The intrusion by
Europeans into this peaceful world had profound effects on the Indians, especially their religious
practices. What had been a peaceful, harmonic lifestyle changed dramatically that fall of 1492. The

journey that began the long process by which a single culture came to dominate as never before
all the other cultures in the world, to impose its languages in their mouths, its clothes on their
backs, its values in their hearts.. (Sale p.27) Columbus and those who followed in his footsteps
never bothered to consider that the indios did not want or need European help. The standard
historians line that the European conquest of Americas was driven by God, gold, and glory..
(Sale, p.17) but in what order? Columbus` leadership, or lack of it, set the pattern for treatment of
Indios for many generations. Historical accounts of not only Columbus voyages but others adds
to the doubt of order. In fact, the European s attitude towards the Indians was evidenced in two
schools of thought noble savage who desperately needed European aid and welcomed it or

to serve the greed of the Europeans but those capable of salvation had to be given the opportunity

Literary Fiction Analysis
In the world of literature, fiction is often used to portray an entertaining story of a story they have
a greater meaning to itself. There are two types of fiction Each of these stories falls on, which are
commercial fiction, use to entertain us, as it tends to contain a setting that is easy to understand and
a plot that is very distinct. This type of fictionis merely for enjoyment and doesn t have any deeper
meaning to the story. In contrast with literary fiction where the stories is more characterdriven as we
focus more on their minds and emotions, it contains a plot that usually underlines a social or
cultural thread that impacts the story, however, is less obvious. When the audience reads these

Another aspect that shows its commercial fiction is the details of the protagonist which is Rainford
who we find our has a vast experience on hunting I ve read your book about the hunting snow
leopards in Tibet, you see (pg 72) as well once he was being hunted by Zaroff he had used tactics
to kill him ... native trick he had learned in Uganda. which gave Rainsford an advantage toward his
opponent when it comes to hunting. The story is seen as commercial fiction because it is a book
that is ment to grab our attention and entertain the reader.
The only literary fiction out of the three stories is Hunters in the Snow by Tobias Wolff s which
follows three men Tubs, Kenny, and Francis who decide to go hunting in the winter. The plot of
the story isn t as obvious compared to commercial fiction, we are put in the thought that these
three men are going to hunt for deer, but in reality, they are men lost trying to find a solution
towards their problem. Kenny can be seen as someone who wants to be feared and wants power
as we see when they go and pick up Tubs The truck jumped the curb and kept coming, half on the
street and half on the sidewalk (pg 86) which was heading straight towards him, until Tubs moved

communist party there was an increase in political effort to protect the lives of African
Americans. The communist party was able to help save the lives of nine young black men from
execution. This case was known as the Scottsboro Boys ; in Alabama there were nine African
American teenagers that were arrested in 1931 for supposably involved in raping two white
women on a train. The teenagers were accused, convicted and were soon to face the death
penalty. Luckily for them the many African Americans from the communist party supported
them, the support system these boys had was amazing, this case offered these young men an
opportunity to play roles in the in the defense of black men and the struggle they face against
class and racial oppression. This case was also a very personal case to the boy s families because
they understood what it felt like for their own husbands and children getting accused of raping
someone and they also feared that they would also get lynched. In 1933 about a thousand black
men and women gathered in Richmond, Virginia to protest for the release of the nine young men.
In the end the case was successful and the boys were taken out of custody. Because everyone came

Tolkien s Influences
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, born in 1892, an English writer, among other things, has had a
numerous number of sources that has influenced him. As a young boy he fell in love with
Scandinavia and its ancient stories (Birzer). His successful and worldwide well known writings,
has made him classified as the father of high fantasy . One of the sources that he was influenced
by, was Norse mythology. Norse mythology was influential to Tolkien when he was creating his
envisioning. Sagas and poems provided his second major influence (Birzer). As a young student, on
his own time, Tolkien would read, and as it was a North Germanic language, translate from the Old
Norse. Northern literature peeked his interest and he seemed to have continued to feed it throughout

Characters found in Tolkien s literature such as elves and dwarves arise from Norse and other
similar Germanic mythologies. An Old Norse written work from Iceland in the early 13th century,
the Prose Edda, and the contemporary establishment for an unidentified compilation of Old Norse
highly expressive and rhythmical literary pieces, the Poetic Edda, caught Tolkien s attention.
Names for dwarves in Tolkien s The Hobbit, derived from the catalogue in the Poetic Edda (St.

Another element that influenced Tolkien was Midgard/Middle Earth . The Middle Earth is
where reside creatures such as elves and dwarves and giants. It was a component in the three
piece make up of the universe. The use of the word from Midgard to Middle Earth, is seen for
the first time in the Lay of Earendel, who was one of Tolkien s first characters in his Mythology
(Wettstein, 1). The Middle Earth is an important part in Tolkien s piece of

The Synoptic Gospels Of Mark, Matthew And Luke
The Synoptic Gospels are the Gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke. For this paper I will be
focusing on Matt 28:1 8; Mark 16:1 8; Luke 24:1 12. I first want to point out that there is a
literary problem with the Synoptic Gospels called the Synoptic Problem. The Synoptic Problem
has two parts, who wrote first?, and, who copied from who? To solve this problem I have used the
two document hypothesis, which is Matthew and Luke copied from Q (the source) and Mark. I
used a synopsis of the three Gospels mentioned earlier to help me; first, identify the major
similarities, secondly identify the five most significant differences between them. I will also discuss
the reasons for the difference, which will help to shape and understand the structure, portrait of
Jesus and themes of the Gospels.
Similarities between the Gospels
The Gospels of Matt 28:1 8; Mark 16:1 8; Luke 24:1 12 are all giving an account of Jesus
resurrection. All three Gospels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well if Mark s account was the only account of Jesus resurrection then we would probably never
know. I say this because the women that the Angel told to tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus
had risen and is waiting for them in Galilee never told anyone (Mark 16:8). This obviously could
not have happen since Mark is writing about the resurrection of Jesus. Mark again is attempting to
provide hope, because even people who knew Jesus fail, and they knew him! In Matthew s Gospel
the women do as the Angel told them to do, and that was to tell the disciples that Jesus would
meet them in Galilee and they would see him there (Matt 28:7b 8). Luke s version is different and
in a good way. Luke states that after returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and to
all the rest (Luke 24:9). This small part in the Gospel of Luke is the bridge between Judaism and
Christianity because Luke said not to tell just the disciples, but also, tell all the rest, which included

  • 2. The Deadly Duel Of Baron Von Instetten And Major Crampas The Deadly Duel Baron von Instetten and Major Crampas The Prussian town of Kessin was left in shock over the unexpected duel of Baron von Instetten and Major Crampas. This duel took place over the issue of an affair in which the wife of Baron von Instetten, Effi Briest, had with Major Crampas. Baron von Instetten was a man of character, position and sound morality. (Effi Briest, Chapter 2). He was an ambitious civil servant who was highly respected by the people around him. Major Crampas, on the other hand, was the total contrast of Baron von Instetten. He was a man who has had many affairs, a ladies man. (Effi Briest, Chapter 13). He disregarded rules and regulations and considered them a bore. It all started when Baron von Instetten marry Effi Briest. At the time of their marriage Instetten was thirty eight years old while Effi was only seventeen. Instetten was already a senior civil servant responsible for the large rural district of Kessin. Even though at the time Effi was only seventeen, she was already conditioned with the social and cultural expectations around her to marry such a distinguished man as Instetten. Being the free young girl that she was, Effi could not conform to the social and cultural expectations put on her as the wife of Instetten. She could not deny herself and her playful personality. No matter how hard Effi tried, she realized day in and day out that she was unhappy. Her ambition might be fulfilled, but her desire for fun was never met. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Most Important Event Of My High School Swim Career How are you feeling? I once heard a voice asking from behind. I turn around to see my coach standing there with a big smile on her face. My eyes lit up and the insides of my body start tingling. My heart starts beating faster than it already was. I try my best to put on a soft smile even though I was feeling stressed. Nervously, I responded, I feel okay. In roughly two minutes, it was going to be my turn to swim the most important event of my high school swim career, the infamous 100 meters Breaststroke I ve been swimmingever since I was six years old; only this time would be my last chance to make a Statecut in the event. These next two minutes felt like a life or death situation. So many things were going through my mind, I quickly gathered my nerves and reminded myself that this was it. It was everything I ve been working towards for for the past four years. It has been my goal ever since I joined Swim Team freshman year that I would qualify for State to swim in the A Girls Relay as well as an individual event of my own. Out of the two, I ve only succeeded one. Before my coach left to get into position and watch this fascinating race, she did her best to calm me down. She whispered a secret tip she used to do before her races. She advised me to cough. This may seem weird at first, but the tip was to cough when you feel like you are going to have a panic attack. Cough when your heart feels like it is pounding out of your chest. Cough to reset your systems. Cough to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Louie Psihoyos and Ric O Barry s eye opening documentary The Cove raises awareness about the gruesome killings of dolphins in Japan. Ironically Ric O Barry feels that he initiated this problem, as he was one of the first dolphintrainers/capturers in the 1960 s for the show Flipper. The captive industry has become a lucrative billion dollar worldwide trade, with all money made from the exploitation, imprisonment and lifelong suffering of these living beings. A live dolphin captured for a marine mammal park can be valued up to $200,000. The most shocking fact is that this is legal. The International Whaling Commission outlawed commercial whaling in 1986, but dolphin hunts remain legal. The film s impact was largely due to the emotional ties between O Barry and dolphins. There was a test called TAAS, which I was expected to take with less than a year of preparation, while the rest of the students had been raised and prepared for this test their entire school life. In the tale My Wood, it displays ideas that Forster had in regard to ownershipand lack of freedom. This essay will explore those important aspects deeper. Though the way he uses irony is dark it is effective. It made people think more about their own lives and on the materialism in their world at that time. Incidentally, the essay leaves you with the thought of what the real effects of ownership and property are. So, what really was the way that Forster used best to reveal the effects of ownership? Well it all started with his four points. In a way, he created a list of all the things you should avoid if you want to be happy and unburdened. That s the first step the heavy burden that possessing something like his Wood is, as Forster states, Property produces men of weight, and it is a man of weight who failed to get into the Kingdom of Heaven (Forster 247). It is a prime example of the beginning, the beginning of the loss of freedom both within yourself and within your life. So, in essence someone wants something they receive it and it leaves them with the burden of it being theirs. Second point was feeling that this ownership would bring happiness. What it did was create a desire for more, it created this restless unfulfillment and a need to protect something that did not bring the desired freedom. This second point showed that ownership created a desire an unquenchable desire and an anxiety to protect that desire that did not bring the desired freedom. The third point was that owning ... However, families living in poverty do not have a clean environment to provide for their sick children, so this very common disease may cause death. Secondly, discrimination also has strong influences on child poverty. Based on the data provided by Stats NZ, 2.3% of New Zealanders experience racial discrimination in employment. Pacific, MДЃori and Asian peoples are more likely to experience racial discrimination in the workplace than the rest of New Zealanders (2012). This situation can be referred with child poverty as over almost 50% children in New Zealand living in poverty are Maori. The hardship rates of them are twice or three times higher than other groups, so they are more likely to live in overpopulated community and are more likely to be admitted to hospital due to attempt, disregard or ill treatment (Dyer, 2012). Thus, discrimination is also a strong factor of child poverty. Furthermore, the consequence of discrimination cannot be ignored; the marginalized minority group may be denied basic rights to citizenship, such as access to employment, access to education and access to fundamental living in general. In addition, government forces also play a significant role in the group s limited access to resource, partly because of unfairness, violent and sometimes abusive treatments of the group solely based on religion and ethnicity (Sewidan, 2015). • 18. Causes Of The Sino-Japanese War The start of the Russo Japanese was made in January 1904. Previously, Japan had broken off diplomatic relations with Russia on February 6, 1904, following with the attack on Port Arthur February 8 and declaring war on Russia February 10. Over the span of a month, Korea was occupied by soldiers, advancing into the Manchurian territory and the Liaodong Peninsulaoccupied by naval forces. An August siege of Port Arthur followed the attack and fell in January 1905. Gradually, both powers found difficulty to continue fighting. The war ended with Theodore Roosevelt mediation; Japan had won which ensued the Portsmouth Treaty to grant Japan back it s sovereignty in China and Manchuria, along with special access to the Liaodong Peninsula. What were the underlying causes of the Russo Japanese War? To what extent did nationalism/imperialism contribute to the war? What did the government do to contribute to the war? Japan s motives for the war stemmed from tension made between Russia; the Triple Intervention and the construction of the Trans Siberian railroad. Imperialist and nationalistic motives drove Japan to change its leader of power and created a blanket of astigmatism throughout Japan s people, using authoritative and irrational actions, taking away human rights and installing many ideas. Before the war, events like the Sino Japanese War, Triple Intervention, Anglo Japanese Treaty, and the Trans Siberian railroad contributed to the tension. In 1894, the Sino Japanese War broke out between Japan and China, competing for their rights and interests in Korea; the result of the war lead to Japan s victory. Following the war, in 1895, the Triple Intervention (Russia, France, and Germany) entailed that Japan to retrocede all territorial victories from the war. This included to give back the Liaodong Peninsula to China and to resign control over China. Japan was in no state to risk military confrontation therefore couldn t fight back (Emergence of Modern Japan). Subsequently, Russia proceeded to build a railroad through Manchurian territory into the Liaodong Peninsula, continuing its expansionist policies in northeast Asia. Although the Magistrate is more lenient on the Barbarians than Colonel Joll, he still unknowingly objectifies them, while placing himself above them. It is only when he is imprisoned that he comes to realize the fragility of his own humanity. It seems all one whether I lie down beside her and fall asleep or fold her in a sheet and bury her in the snow. Nevertheless, bending over her, touching my fingertips to her forehead, I am careful not to spill the wax. (43) Here, the magistrate simply refers to the girl as a body, not as a living human. He claims that he is responsible for her, showing that he sees her as a possession. He even refers to her as it, which clearly objectifies her. The fact that he wonders why he keeps her shows that her only purpose to him is sexual gratification; other than that she holds no human quality. He says that there would be no difference between lying next to her and burying her in the snow, showing that he has no emotional connection to her. When he is careful not to spill the wax, he is showing some sort of care for her, but only so far as one would care for an object, just as anyone would want to avoid spilling something on an object of some value. The magistrate is able to condemn Joll for his dehumanization of the barbarians, but only because Joll s purpose for the barbarians has to do with the goals of the empire. They are objects who have no value should they fail to meet the empire s needs. For the magistrate, the goals of the empire are not of paramount importance. However, when ... It is known as Balance of International Payment , it involves all transactions between a country s residents and its non residents involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of the word. No longer is commerce managed through clunky and expensive paper based transactions. The advantage of this archaic process, though, was that it allowed corporations to store their documents in secure locations under tight lock key. Today however, these cabinets have been replaced with database systems. Database systems are the modern version of filing cabinets, which house the vast data transacted by corporations. Although databases have eliminated the need for paper based transactions, they have exposed themselves to a different problem altogether. As SANS (2015) puts it, most of an organization s information [today] is maintained in a small, central location, compared to the large file rooms associated with the pre information technology era, therefore those desiring to cause harm to a large amount of information in a short time span now have a convenient means to do so. Because of this paradigm shift, IT professionals should enforce modern database security auditing policies in order to protect data. But are organizations under attack? Well a shocking statistic by Gartner shows that, 75% attacks come from web applications and 2/3rd of web applications are vulnerable. And as per OWASP, 2013, SQLInjection based attacks are in the top 10 since the past few years. These numbers are startling, and demonstrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gettysburg Essay Gettysburg Living in close proximity to Gettysburg, I have spent many weekends of my childhood hiking through the numerous acres of woods on Culp s Hill, climbing the gigantic boulders in Devil s Den, and tramping through the marshes of Plum Run. Enjoying the scenic beauty is just the beginning as to what Gettysburg has to offer. However, why is Gettysburg so important to us all as Americans? What made this small town so famous that tens of thousands of tourists from all over the globe come to walk through the many wheat fields in the surrounding countryside? While wandering those same fields that Union and Confederate soldiers fought on some one hundred and forty years ago, I asked myself why this place was so significant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next question I asked Mr. Kise focused on why the victory at Gettysburg was so very pivotal to the Union. In my own analysis of the battle, I did not expect the answer that I received from him. He said that in his own personal opinion of what makes Gettysburg so important, is Lincoln s speech four months after the battle (Kise). He goes on to explain that even though the Union Army won a substantial victory at Gettysburg and helped to turn back the invading Confederate Army, it was when Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address that gave the battle meaning. Lincoln turned the war from merely holding the Union together, to giving a new birth of freedom (Kise). My next question for Mr. Kise is probably the most asked question of the battle of Gettysburg. I wanted to know what would have occurred if the Confederacy had won the battle. Mr. Kise came to the conclusion that Lee would have had to withdraw eventually due to the fact that he did not have many supplies left and he had lost almost a third of his army (Kise). He also argues that the North, with its superior transportation system, could have quickly brought up other troops (Kise). In all, Mr. Kise felt that Gettysburg was indeed a key battle for the Union in that the Army of the Potomac was victorious. However, there were other factors that made it such a key battle as ... His idea not only helped to revolutionize and industrialize America, but it also established the foundation of a social and economic infrastructure that exists today. David Gartman defines this beginning as Fordism : Henry Ford s revolutionary mass production processes for manufacturing automobiles stands as an almost universal symbol for modern industrial capitalism. Both its hitherto unimagined material productivity and its similarly unprecedented impoverishment of the human spirit are simultaneously captured by the contradictory image of the automobile assembly line. Along such lines and in other mechanized processes pioneered by Ford, degraded and dehumanized workers toil to produce the very products that enrich their leisure lives. The incredible productivity of Fordist mass production makes possible, perhaps even necessary, mass consumption. Historians remind us that not only did Henry Ford innovate production methods that steadily lowered the price of a complex, mechanical consumer good, but he also pioneered the transformation of the toiling masses into consumers by raising his workers wages to an incredible five dollars a day. In liberal ideology, the sins of Fordist mass production against the human spirit are more than atoned for by this rise in material prosperity of the masses that is its corollary within industrial capitalism. The narrator breaks the conceptual quot;fourth wall quot; of naturalistic drama by addressing the audience directly. Tom also tells us that he is going to give the audience truth disguised as illusion, making the audience conscious of the illusory quality of theater. By playing with the theme of memory and its distortions, Williams is free to use music, monologues, and projected images to haunting effect. In a similar way, Laura is kept and cared for, dependent on her mother and brother for financial support. The Blue Roses are another important symbol of Laura. The image of blue roses is a beautiful one‹and it is the image that is on the screen at the start of Scene Two. But blue roses are also pure fantasy, non existent in the real world. Laura, like a blue rose, is special, unique even, but she is also cut off from real life. When Tom accidentally breaks some of the pieces in the glass menagerie, the incident foreshadows Laura s heartbreak later on in the play. The event emphasizes the collection s fragility, and so metaphorically we are reminded of Laura s fragility. Tom is the one responsible, and the pain of his position is made clear. Luckily for them the many African Americans from the communist party supported them, the support system these boys had was amazing, this case offered these young men an opportunity to play roles in the in the defense of black men and the struggle they face against class and racial oppression. This case was also a very personal case to the boy s families because they understood what it felt like for their own husbands and children getting accused of raping someone and they also feared that they would also get lynched. In 1933 about a thousand black men and women gathered in Richmond, Virginia to protest for the release of the nine young men. The prosecution had based much of the case on the digital evidence found on the computer that Casey Anthony used, with most of the attention given to the 84 times that the word chloroform had been searched. That evidence would later be challenged by John Bradley himself, who would change his original statement and reveal that there was only one reference found in the computer related to the search of chloroform. • 55. Tolkien s Influences John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, born in 1892, an English writer, among other things, has had a numerous number of sources that has influenced him. As a young boy he fell in love with Scandinavia and its ancient stories (Birzer). His successful and worldwide well known writings, has made him classified as the father of high fantasy . One of the sources that he was influenced by, was Norse mythology. Norse mythology was influential to Tolkien when he was creating his envisioning. Sagas and poems provided his second major influence (Birzer). As a young student, on his own time, Tolkien would read, and as it was a North Germanic language, translate from the Old Norse. Northern literature peeked his interest and he seemed to have continued to feed it throughout his whole life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Characters found in Tolkien s literature such as elves and dwarves arise from Norse and other similar Germanic mythologies. An Old Norse written work from Iceland in the early 13th century, the Prose Edda, and the contemporary establishment for an unidentified compilation of Old Norse highly expressive and rhythmical literary pieces, the Poetic Edda, caught Tolkien s attention. Names for dwarves in Tolkien s The Hobbit, derived from the catalogue in the Poetic Edda (St. Clair, 64). Another element that influenced Tolkien was Midgard/Middle Earth . • 56. The Synoptic Gospels Of Mark, Matthew And Luke The Synoptic Gospels are the Gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke. For this paper I will be focusing on Matt 28:1 8; Mark 16:1 8; Luke 24:1 12. I first want to point out that there is a literary problem with the Synoptic Gospels called the Synoptic Problem. The Synoptic Problem has two parts, who wrote first?, and, who copied from who? To solve this problem I have used the two document hypothesis, which is Matthew and Luke copied from Q (the source) and Mark. I used a synopsis of the three Gospels mentioned earlier to help me; first, identify the major similarities, secondly identify the five most significant differences between them. I will also discuss the reasons for the difference, which will help to shape and understand the structure, portrait of Jesus and themes of the Gospels. Similarities between the Gospels The Gospels of Matt 28:1 8; Mark 16:1 8; Luke 24:1 12 are all giving an account of Jesus resurrection. All three Gospels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well if Mark s account was the only account of Jesus resurrection then we would probably never know. I say this because the women that the Angel told to tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus had risen and is waiting for them in Galilee never told anyone (Mark 16:8). This obviously could not have happen since Mark is writing about the resurrection of Jesus. Mark again is attempting to provide hope, because even people who knew Jesus fail, and they knew him! In Matthew s Gospel the women do as the Angel told them to do, and that was to tell the disciples that Jesus would meet them in Galilee and they would see him there (Matt 28:7b 8). Luke s version is different and in a good way. Luke states that after returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest (Luke 24:9). This small part in the Gospel of Luke is the bridge between Judaism and Christianity because Luke said not to tell just the disciples, but also, tell all the rest, which included the ...
