Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.
3. Task 1 – Research – Web source
De Stijl:
- One of the several art movements that was a response to WW1 with ‘a return to order’
- Rejected pre-war decorative tendencies, pushed cubism, total abstraction of basic shapes,
primary colours
- Removes individualism, promotes harmony and precision.
- Aims to reform society
- It still has its influence today with examples like Microsoft Windows
layout that is famous with their computers and phones

4. Task 1 – Research – Web source
-De Stijl means ‘the art’ in Dutch which demonstrates the simplicity of the art movement as the title and
meaning of the whole movement is so basic.
- Partly a reaction against the art deco decorative style
- De Stijl artists turned their attention not only to art but to paintings, sculpture and architecture.
- This movement was mainly pushed by Theo van Doesburg
- Composition A (right), was an art project aiming to reflect Schoemakers mathematical theory
- Piet Mondrian searched for visual language with this art project and experimented with colours and shapes
- The title of this project really shows you the aim of the art movement on how simple it is, it adds extra detail
to the piece as it is such a simple title.

- This book gives us an insight into the world of De Stijl art. It
takes us through the origin of the movement. The art was a
way of moving away from the horrors of WW1 and move onto
a new age with togetherness and unity.
- The bright colours are used to contrast the war horrors with 4
years of ‘grey’ life.
- This art form is not what it seems from a outsiders perspective,
if you look deeper into the art you can seem its far from some
random shapes and colours, it does resemble something more.
Its about togetherness after the war

- In the picture to the right of the screen we can see these art
projects do have some structure to them, we can see the artist
is trying to portray some sort of stables, or building of some
sort, through the shapes including horses and men.
- This is an interesting feature to the art movement as in every
picture they may look like just squares and rectangles on a page
but the artist is trying to make these shapes make a bigger
picture.
- We can also see how the artist developed the piece by making a
detailed sketch with what they wanted to draw, then over time
he took away shapes and added more spaces between the
blocks of that resemble the original picture.
- This shows you again that this art does have some sort of
structure within the shapes and colours, the artist does have an
aim in the picture and behind the the simple picture there is a
hidden message.

the most

where every
artist starts
from
2. This is the
part where
the artist
decides what

final process
of the art
piece where
the artist
finally decides
what the final

7. Task 2a – Idea Generation [individual]
- My Poster will take influence from the De stijl art movement, the main focus will be the background which
will be a De Stijl art piece which I will make myself
- Using the boxes to display information keeps the poster organized and makes the information easy to place
- I will be using a very De stijl font to fit in with atheistic of the poster.
- The added text e.g. the date and what the actual poster is for will be displayed in the other black boxes
around the poster so the viewer knows where to look to find information
- The main title will be multi-colored to catch the viewers eye and it makes the title pop out even more
- The information being dotted around the poster causes disruption but having them in every black box also
creates organization which is a nice contrast.

• Add notes here on how you stuck to your plan/had to change your
plan and why
11. Task 2c – Planning
3.2
- This was my first design. It followed the classic de stijl style with bright
colours and various block like shapes.
- The title was multi coloured to catch the eye of the viewer, and therefore
bringing more eyes to the event.
- I didn’t decide on this design in the end as it was too much to really be
apart of the De Stijl design so I went down a more simplistic route
12. Task 2c – Planning
3.2
- With my second design I went the complete opposite direction with
my design by removing all colour from the original idea, this didn’t
work at all, removing the colour from the poster took away the
character from the poster so I decided to go with a different design
13. 3.2
3.4
- This was my final design and it was a a mix from the first design with the iconic
De stijl colours. I decided to scrap the full page design with all the squares.
14. Task 5 – Evaluation – Problem Solving
• Describe three problems you faced in your project and how you
solved these
1. One problem I faced while carrying out my project was coming up
with new ideas for my poster, to get around this I went onto Google
and looked at different bits of De Stijl art and took inspiration from
that
2. Another problem I faced while carrying out this project was trying
to find good information for task one, to get around this I went
through multiple sources to find the best information.
3. The last main problem I faced while going through this task was

15. Task 5 – Evaluation – Working with others
• Choose three aspects of your production where you worked well with
your team and this benefited the project
• 1 we came up with a name for our project quickly within the group
• 2 we bounced ideas off each other to improve each others work
• 3 we reviewed each others work and gave improvements

16. Task 5 – Evaluation - Feedback
• The feedback I received from my tutor was mainly on the photoshop
project. They guided me to come up with new ideas and evolve me
original idea. This helped me shape my final work

17. Task 5 – Evaluation
Accessing and storing information
• To access book information I went to the library on the second floor
of the college, I looked into the arts section to find the book I wanted
on my particular art movement
• To take a book from the library you will have to take the book to the
front desk and ask for it to be taken out.

18. Task 5 – Evaluation
Accessing and storing information
• Once finished with your work you will need to save it to your
computers drive, this will be saved onto your account and will be
accessible from any computer once you login
• You will have to put your work on your blogger page for your tutor to
access once its done.

19. Task 5 – Evaluation
Accessing and storing information
• Explain where to store electronic information on the college network
• Explain where you upload work when it is completed
You upload your work onto your blog through slideshare

20. Task 6 - How do you learn best?
• Explain some of the ways you think you learn best [refer to the VAK
questionnaire results in tutorial]:
• Visual: this is the best way I learn. I learn through videos/films or
demonstrations.

21. Task 6 - How do you learn best?
• What makes it hard for you to study?
Distractions from movement or other voices make it hard for me to
concentrate.
• What strategies do you think would benefit your studies?
Music helps me concentrate while working as it keeps me calm.
