2. Task 1 – Research – Web source
The De Stijl movement was co-founded by Piet Mondrian and Theo Van Doesburg
in 1917, Dutch painters who envisioned the art style as "a universal visual
language", created entirely of basic squares and rectangles, coloured either red,
blue or yellow. It started as a magazine of artworks that contained similar
artworks in the De Stijl style, and then became used more widely in individual
pieces and architecture, many modern houses being designed in accordance with
De Stijl designs. The split between the co-founders happened in 1924, when
Mondrian led the group due to Van Doesburg's use of diagonal lines in his pieces.
Mondrian started his own style called "Neoplastiscm", following the original
guidelines of De Stijl, and Van Doesburg continued to run De Stijl until his death
in 1931.

3. Task 3 – Production/Final Products
Include a version of your print product/screenshots
Include a link to your blog where you have posted this PP and your final
products – the post on your blog should be titled ‘Induction Week Project’
5. Task 4 – Evaluation – Production
Describe three strengths of your final pieces.
Clearly describes what the exhibition is
Gives relevant information about access to the exhibition, such as dates times
and admission prices.
Gives the names of the two main artists of the De Stijl movement
6. Task 4 – Evaluation – Production
Describe three areas for improvement in your final pieces.
Could explain in more detail about what the art style actually is.
Could give more context about the painters
Might be hard to read in order as it is not organised vertically or horizontally
7. Task 4 – Evaluation – Problem Solving
Describe three problems you faced in your project and how you solved these
I felt like I shouldn't use the actual De Stijl art in the poster so after some
searching, I found a website that allowed me to create Mondrian art, and
after creating a few designs and learning the website I settled on a
combination that I liked and worked for the poster, which you can see in the
background of the final product.
The borders on my original design I didn't feel were bold enough to represent
the original art style, so I covered the design with coloured rectangles in
Photoshop, and thickened the border, allowing me to create more defined
boxes.
8. Task 4 – Evaluation – Working with others
Choose three aspects of your production where you worked well with your
team and this benefited the project
Splitting up to research different parts of the movement helped save time
finding out information and allowed us to get to production quicker.
9. Task 4 – Evaluation - Feedback
Discuss the feedback you received from your tutor during the project and how
you used this to improve the project
I wasn't sure on how to use Photoshop to a good degree so I was suggested a
few different techniques for making the poster look better by the tutors,
including being shown how to thicken the borders when I asked.
