Audience Research
Your Name
Audience - AGE
16-18 Year olds.
From this graph it shows us that
teenagers/ young adults spend 24%
of their time on leisure activities and
13% of that time is spent on screens
I will recommend motorsport
websites and pages in my fanzine to
appeal to these teenagers that spend
lots of their time on screens. This is a
big stereotype of my target audience
that they spend lots of time on their
screens, this data backs it up and will
help me appeal to that specific
audience
Audience - AGE
16-18 Year olds.
From this chart it shows that 47%
of young adults enjoy reading and
writing as a hobby.
To make my magazine appeal to
these set of people I will make in-
depth articles about the world of
Formula One. These articles will
use lots of detail and keep the
reader attached to the page.
This will make my product popular
as these people will enjoy reading
through my magazine
Audience - AGE
16-18 Year olds.
This data shows that 30% of
young adults enjoy hobbies
that have something to do
with technology.
I will include information
about the camera’s used in
the photos around my
magazine. The magazine will
also include ads about certain
technology around Formula
One
Audience - AGE
Age 16-18
This graph shows what media
each age group uses on
average.
My age range don’t read
magazines or newspapers at
all, this will influence my
magazine as I will create a
very modern style magazine
to appeal to their needs, the
modern style will attract my
target audience as they will
enjoy the updated style of the
magazine.
Audience - GENDER
Males -
From this piece of information, I
have learnt that males make more
on average than women at every
age section.
This will appeal to my magazine as
my magazine is targeted at the
ABC1 group. I will use more
creative and formal writing in my
articles to appeal to the highest
earning males.
Audience - GENDER
Males
From this graph we know that males
prefer colours like, Black, Blue, Orange
and Green.
This gives me a good idea on what
colours I need to include on my
magazine cover and throughout my
magazine. This will attract my target
gender which is males. I can use this
colours to contrast other colours to
make certain pieces on the page stand
out. I can also use colours these people
don’t like to drive a certain opinion on a
story. For example, Blue can suggest
something is good and something
coloured with purple, yellow or grey
can be insinuated with something bad
Audience – PSYCHOGRAPHIC
Achiever –
From this chart I can see young
people earn between £22000 -
£26000 on average.
My audience is achievers and
will want to learn how to
succeed in a career.
The way I will adapt my
magazine is by including
inspirational content and giving
out information about success
stories.
I will also include premium ads
to appeal to these achievers
Audience - PSYCHOGRAPHIC
Achiever –
From this figure you can see
the amount of young people
going to university is
increasing every year,
meaning there are more
people wanting to be
successful in their career and
going to further education.
I will again include more
success stories in my
magazine to motivate these
achievers
Audience – GEODEMOGRAPHIC
My geodemographic will be people living in Britain, my magazine is
going to be about the British side of motorsport and will appeal to
the people that live there. The chart here shows the average income
rating of each part of the UK, London has the highest income out of
any part of the UK. This means my target audience is from that area.
The way I will appeal to that audience is by writing formal articles,
also by reporting on news at racetracks close to where they are so
the content is related to them in some way or another
Audience – PRIMARY RESEARCH
The Primary audience for my magazine is people
around my age, the way I could get the best
wide range of opinions about what a good
magazine should look like would be by creating
and survey. A survey can get the best wide range
of opinions in a quick way. I can give the
audience multiple choice questions that will
help me pick out features that will appeal to
them, this will help me create a magazine that
appeals to my target audience.

Editor's Notes

  1. Analyse your audience. Use info from the client and any other resources you can to build a picture of them. Consider age, gender, socioeconomic status, geodemographics, psychographics and mainstream/niche.
