“Pop Art was the art of popular
culture. It was the visual art
movement that characterized a sense
of optimism during the post war
consumer boom of the 1950's and
1960's. It coincided with the
globalization of pop music and youth
culture, personified by Elvis and the
Beatles. Pop Art was brash, young
and fun and hostile to the artistic
establishment. It included different
styles of painting and sculpture from
various countries, but what they all
had in common was an interest in
mass-media, mass-production and
mass-culture.”

Book title/Author + Library location: Tilman Osterwald 709 046 pst
‘Pop Art’ book is by Tilman Osterwald from
2003 in his study of the movement Pop Art
which has been used by artists such as Andy
Warhol, Keith Haring, Ray Lichtenstein and
many others.
The book is usefull as it also displays how
each country (at least when it became
popular) has their own style in their Pop Art
creations with the UK and the USA having
their own style of pop art each as they were
the first places for it to originate from.

11. Task 2b – Action Plan/Schedule
3.1
I mostly stuck to the plan for the majority of my product however, below are some
times where I had/decided to change some elements to my design.
• Differences to my plan:
• For my title I originally had it with Red (front) and Black (back) but during the
making of my poster I changed it to Black (front) and White (black) as it was
more visable.
• I originally was going to include an image of the painting 'Marilyn Diptych' but
instead of an image of the painting, I used a vector PNG of the painting as if I
included a full photo there wouldn't be as much space.
• I was originally going to include an image of an art gallery as the background but
decided to make my product more of a Pop Art styled design.
12. Task 2c – Planning
3.2
The Title was designed
using two of the same
font - 'Cocogoose'.
I begin to start including
vector PNG images of Pop Art
themes as a way to convey
the theme of 'Pop!'. I also
made an 'explosion' image
for the title to represent the
'Pop!' theme.
I added on more PNG images as well
as including a yellow box to be used
as an info box later on and a next
'speech bubble' image with the word
Freedom! To represent issues in
culture.
13. Task 2c – Planning
3.2
Then I added on the
non-digital aspect of the
poster thanks to Amy
who had drawn and
scanned it to the
computer.
Then I added on the
paintings I was wanting to
include (excluding Marilyn
Diptych). I also added a
explosion effect with text
saying "Art Exhibition".
I began to include text
on the bottom yellow
box whilst using
different sized fonts for
each sentence.
14. Task 2c – Planning
3.2
I decided to move the bottom
half of the images towards the
middle so that they could be seen
more easierly and so that I could
add more vector images.
I then started to add more vector
Pop Art images and write more at
the bottom. I also moved the
sniper PNG towards the top.
I finished writing the list of all the
artists whose work would be
included and I added on a Titcket
area for Adults and Kids.
16. Task 5 – Evaluation – Problem Solving
• Describe three problems you faced in your project and how you solved these.
• 1 – A problem I struggled with on Photoshop was how to remove backgrounds
but because before I saw images had to be rastorized, I went on to layers, then
rastorise and clicked smart object. This let me remove the background from it
with the help of the Magic Wand Tool.
• 2 – Another problem was how to include a drawn aspect in my poster, to do this
our team member draw an image and then we scanned it onto the computer and
emailed it to the rest of the group via the Printer.
• 3 – One more problem was about including a book in our research, so one of the
team members went to the library and borrowed a book. And so that we could
have images of it on our poster, we scanned some of the pages onto our
computer with the printer.
3.3
17. Task 5 – Evaluation – Working with others
• Choose three aspects of your production where you worked well with
your team and this benefited the project
• 1 - We managed to think of some good ideas that would be in all of
our posters so that it meant that they all shared somesort of similarity
despite being different designs.
• 2 – We had one member of the group draw a Pop Art style image
which she then scanned on to her computer and sent them to us. This
helped us because it gave us another unique element to our final
product.
• 3 – We helped each other we were struggling to use certain functions
on Photoshop which led to us understanding it more and more able
with it.
