Emotional Intelligence is becoming increasingly important for Leadership and Quality relationships. In the VUCA
world leaders and individuals can benefit tremendously when they understand themselves and understand others.
EQ has been named as one of the most influential business ideas By Harvard Business Review.
So what does all this mean in reality. Let’s start by defining EQ and Enneagram
We define EI as the ability to:
• Recognize, understand and manage our own
• Recognize, understand and influence the emotions of others
In practical terms, this means being aware that emotions can drive our behaviour and impact people (positively and
negatively), and learning how to manage those emotions – both our own and others – especially when we are
under pressure.
We define Enneagram as:
A powerful tool for personal and collective transformation. Stemming from the Greek words ennea (nine) and
grammos (a written symbol), the nine-pointed Enneagram symbol represents nine distinct strategies for,
• Self-observation
• Self-Understanding
• Self-transformation and
• Understanding other
Each Enneagram type has a different pattern of thinking, feeling and acting that arises from a deeper inner
motivation or worldview
Enneagram type Characteristics EQ Development
Type 1 -
Perfectionist
Ethical, Reliable, Productive, Wise, Idealistic, Fair,
Honest, Orderly and Self – discipline.
Accept the perfection of
imperfection
Type 2 - Helper Loving, Caring, Adaptable, Insightful, Generous,
Enthusiastic, Tuned into how people feel.
Accept that it is”ok” to have
needs and to express them.
Type 3 -
Achiever
Optimistic, Efficient, Energetic, Practical
Industrious, Performance Driven, Image
Conscious.
Accept that failure can add value
to inner development.
Type 4 -
Individualist
Warm, Compassionate, Expressive, Creative,
Intuitive, Emotional, Romantic.
Accept and embrace the
essential truth of their own
goodness and lovability
Type 5 -
Investigator
Alert, insightful, Analytical, Curious, Observant,
Private, Detached.
Accept that connections
increases resources.
Type 6 - Loyalist Loyal, Anxious, Stability and Safety, Responsible,
Cautious.
Accept that uncertainty is part of
life.
Type 7 -
Enthusiast
Optimistic, Spontaneous Freedom, Pursuing
interest and pleasure, Innovative, Options.
Accept the complexity and
paradox of joy and suffering
Type 8 -
Challenger
Strong, Protecting the weak, Direct, Impulsive,
Intimidating, Authoritative, Decisive.
Accept that limitation brings
freedom to connect with self!
Type 9 -
Peacemaker
Diplomatic, Peaceful, Receptive, Harmonious,
Easy- going, Patient, Non Aggressive.
Accept that discomfort can lead
to comfort.

  • 1. Increase your EQ - How the Enneagram can help! Emotional Intelligence is becoming increasingly important for Leadership and Quality relationships. In the VUCA world leaders and individuals can benefit tremendously when they understand themselves and understand others. EQ has been named as one of the most influential business ideas By Harvard Business Review. So what does all this mean in reality. Let’s start by defining EQ and Enneagram We define EI as the ability to: • Recognize, understand and manage our own • Recognize, understand and influence the emotions of others In practical terms, this means being aware that emotions can drive our behaviour and impact people (positively and negatively), and learning how to manage those emotions – both our own and others – especially when we are under pressure. We define Enneagram as: A powerful tool for personal and collective transformation. Stemming from the Greek words ennea (nine) and grammos (a written symbol), the nine-pointed Enneagram symbol represents nine distinct strategies for, • Self-observation • Self-Understanding • Self-transformation and • Understanding other Each Enneagram type has a different pattern of thinking, feeling and acting that arises from a deeper inner motivation or worldview
  • 2. Enneagram type Characteristics EQ Development Type 1 - Perfectionist Ethical, Reliable, Productive, Wise, Idealistic, Fair, Honest, Orderly and Self – discipline. Accept the perfection of imperfection Type 2 - Helper Loving, Caring, Adaptable, Insightful, Generous, Enthusiastic, Tuned into how people feel. Accept that it is”ok” to have needs and to express them. Type 3 - Achiever Optimistic, Efficient, Energetic, Practical Industrious, Performance Driven, Image Conscious. Accept that failure can add value to inner development. Type 4 - Individualist Warm, Compassionate, Expressive, Creative, Intuitive, Emotional, Romantic. Accept and embrace the essential truth of their own goodness and lovability Type 5 - Investigator Alert, insightful, Analytical, Curious, Observant, Private, Detached. Accept that connections increases resources. Type 6 - Loyalist Loyal, Anxious, Stability and Safety, Responsible, Cautious. Accept that uncertainty is part of life. Type 7 - Enthusiast Optimistic, Spontaneous Freedom, Pursuing interest and pleasure, Innovative, Options. Accept the complexity and paradox of joy and suffering Type 8 - Challenger Strong, Protecting the weak, Direct, Impulsive, Intimidating, Authoritative, Decisive. Accept that limitation brings freedom to connect with self! Type 9 - Peacemaker Diplomatic, Peaceful, Receptive, Harmonious, Easy- going, Patient, Non Aggressive. Accept that discomfort can lead to comfort.
