Bandaging is the process of covering a wound using an appropriate bandage. There are several types of common bandages like roller bandages, triangular bandages, and tubular bandages. Roller bandages are made of cotton gauge in a continuous strip and are the most common. Triangular bandages can be used to construct slings. Bandages secure dressings, form slings for support, and secure pads. When applying roller bandages, only unwrap 5 cm at a time in circular or spiral patterns, facing the patient. Bandages are applied for wounds, injuries, and to immobilize areas like sprains or fractures.
