2. What is an operon?
An operon is a cluster of genes transcribed at the
same time.
They are mostly found in prokaryotes.
An operon is made up of 3 basic DNA components
------
a) Promoter
b) Operator
c) Structural genes
3. The lac operon:
Lac operon consists of three genes each involved
in the processing of sugar lactose.
It is an inducible operon.
4. Possible Four Scenarios:
When lactose is absent but glucose is present
When lactose and glucose both are absent
When glucose is absent but lactose is present
When glucose and lactose both are present
