This document presents a new technique for high voltage power transmission using a beam of conductors. It describes developing a mathematical model and numerical simulation to analyze the complex dynamics when such a beam is subjected to electromagnetic forces during a short circuit. These can cause the sub-conductors in the beam to choke and impact each other. The summary develops a finite element model incorporating the electrical connections between sub-conductors and nonlinear contact behavior. It then describes implementing the model in software to simulate the dynamic behavior and validate it against experimental results.
