With the dominating utility of the internet, it becomes critical to manage the efficiency and reliability of telecom and datacenter, as the power consumption of the involved equipment also increases. Much power being wasted through the power conversion stages by converting AC voltage to DC voltage and then stepping down to lower voltages to connect to information and communication technology (ICT) equipment. 48/12 VDC is the standard DC bus architecture to serve the end utility equipment. This voltage level is further processed to multiple lower voltages to power up the internal auxiliary circuits. Power losses are involved when it is converted from higher voltage to lower voltages. Therefore, the efficiency of power conversion is lower. There is a need to increase the efficiency by minimizing the power losses which occur due to the conversion stages. Different methods are available to increase the efficiency of a system by optimizing the converter topologies, semiconductor materials and control methods. There is another possibility of increasing the efficiency by changing the architecture of a system by increasing the DC bus voltage to higher voltages to optimize the losses. This paper presents a review of available high voltage options for telecom power distribution and developments, implementations and challenges across the world.

Abstract This paper presents a fuzzy step size least mean square (LMS) algorithm for grid connected renewable energy source. The main objective is to mitigate the harmonics and the neutral current compensation. The conventional controllers may fail due to the rapid change in the dynamics of the highly non-linear system. The electrical and environmental parameters of polymer solar cells (PSC) provide important information on their performance. In the present article we study the influence of temperature on the voltage-current (I-V) characteristic at different temperatures from 10 °C to 90 °C, and important parameters like bandgap energy Eg, and the energy conversion efficiency η. The one-diode electrical model, normally used for semiconductor cells, has been tested and validated for the polemeral junction. The PSC used in our study are formed by the poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). Our technique is based on the combination of two steps; the first use the Least Mean Squares (LMS) method while the second use the Newton-Raphson algorithm. The found results are compared to other recently published works, they show that the developed approach is very accurate. This precision is proved by the minimal values of statistical errors (RMSE) and the good agreement between both the experimental data and the I-V simulated curves. The obtained results show a clear and a monotonic dependence of the cell efficiency on the studied parameters.
Hybrid bypass technique to mitigate leakage current in the grid-tied inverterIJECEIAES
The extensive use of fossil fuel is destroying the balance of nature that could lead to many problems in the forthcoming era. Renewable energy resources are a ray of hope to avoid possible destruction. Smart grid and distributed power generation systems are now mainly built with the help of renewable energy resources. The integration of renewable energy production system with the smart grid and distributed power generation is facing many challenges that include addressing the issue of isolation and power quality. This paper presents a new approach to address the aforementioned issues by proposing a hybrid bypass technique concept to improve the overall performance of the grid-tied inverter in solar power generation. The topology with the proposed technique is presented using traditional H5, oH5 and H6 inverter. Comparison of topologies with literature is carried out to check the feasibility of the method proposed. It is found that the leakage current of all the proposed inverters is 9 mA and total harmonic distortion is almost about 2%. The proposed topology has good efficiency, common mode and differential mode characteristics.
Recently, LCL has become amongst the most attractive filter used for grid-connected flyback inverters. Nonetheless, the switching of power devices in the inverter configuration creates harmonics that affect the end application behavior and might shorten its lifetime. Furthermore, the resonance frequencies produced by the LCL network contribute to the system instability. This paper proposes a step-by-step guide to designing an LCL filter by considering several key aspects such as the resonance frequency and maximum current ripple. A single-phase grid-connected flyback microinverter with an LCL filter was designed then constructed in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Several different parameter variations and damping solutions were used to analyze the performance of the circuit. The simulation result shows a promising total harmonic distortion (THD) value below 5% and harmonic suppression up to 14%.
Parametric estimation in photovoltaic modules using the crow search algorithmIJECEIAES
The problem of parametric estimation in photovoltaic (PV) modules considering man- ufacturer information is addressed in this research from the perspective of combinatorial optimization. With the data sheet provided by the PV manufacturer, a non-linear non-convex optimization problem is formulated that contains information regarding maximum power, open-circuit, and short-circuit points. To estimate the three parameters of the PV model (i.e., the ideality diode factor (a) and the parallel and series resistances (R p and R )), the crow search algorithm (CSA) is employed, which is a metaheuristic optimization technique inspired by the behavior of the crows searching food deposits. The CSA allows the exploration and exploitation of the solution space through a simple evolution rule derived from the classical PSO method. Numerical simulations reveal the effectiveness and robustness of the CSA to estimate these parameters with objective function values lower than 1 10 s 28 and processing times less than 2 s. All the numerical simulations were developed in MATLAB 2020a and compared with the sine-cosine and vortex search algorithms recently reported in the literature.

The wide area measurement system (WAMS) has been installed at several locations in power system. Phasor measurements units (PMU) are considered as the building blocks of WAMS are being installed at various locations of power system. PMU is sending very large volume of data to Power system control center with the sampling rate of 50 or 25 samples per second. However there are always several events per day occurring in the system but the rate at which data is received and the volume of data to be analyzed is a big challenge for power system engineer. There is a need for developing an intelligent system to handle large volume of Synchrophasor data and identify Power system event in the present context. This paper presents an intelligent algorithm to automatically detect such events using wide area measurements in real time. In this work, Synchrophasor measurements received from PMU are fed to KNN based pattern recognition algorithm which is used to identify the Power system events. The severity and the type of the event can be judged through the change in voltage magnitude and phase angle at various buses. The developed algorithm is tested for IEEE 14 bus system and results are verified.
Frequency regulation service of multiple-areas vehicle to grid application in...IJECEIAES
Regarding a potential of electric vehicles, it has been widely discussed that the electric vehicle can be participated in electricity ancillary services. Among the ancillary service products, the system frequency regulation is often considered. However, the participation in this service has to be conformed to the hierarchical frequency control architecture. Therefore, the vehicle to grid (V2G) application in this article is proposed in the term of multiple-areas of operation. The multiple-areas in this article are concerned as parking areas, which the parking areas can be implied as a V2G operator. From that, V2G operator can obtain the control signal from hierarchical control architecture for power sharing purpose. A power sharing concept between areas is fulfilled by a proposed adaptive droop factor based on battery state of charge and available capacity of parking area. A nonlinear multiplier factor is used for the droop adaptation. An available capacity is also applied as a limitation for the V2G operation. The available capacity is analyzed through a stochastic character. As the V2G application has to be cooperated with the hierarchical control functions, i.e. primary control and secondary control, then the effect of V2G on hierarchical control functions is investigated and discussed.

This paper proposes a gravitational search algorithm (GSA) to allocate the thyristor-controlled series compensator (TCSC) incorporation with the issue of reactive power management. The aim of using TCSC units in this study is to minimize active and reactive power losses. Reserve beyond the thermal border, enhance the voltage profile and increase transmission-lines flow while continuing the whole generation cost of the system a little increase compared with its single goal base case. The optimal power flow (OPF) described is a consideration for finding the best size and location of the TCSCs devices seeing techno-economic subjects for minimizing fuel cost of generation units and the costs of installing TCSCs devices. The GSA algorithm's high ability in solving the proposed multi-objective problem is tested on two 9 and 30 bus test systems. For each test system, four case studies are considered to represent both normal and emergency operating conditions. The proposed GSA method's simulation results show that GSA offers a practical and robust highquality solution for the problem and improves system performance.
Convergence analysis of the triangular-based power flow method for AC distribu...IJECEIAES
This paper addresses the convergence analysis of the triangular-based power flow (PF) method in alternating current radial distribution networks. The PF formulation is made via upper-triangular matrices, which enables finding a general iterative PF formula that does not require admittance matrix calculations. The convergence analysis of this iterative formula is carried out by applying the Banach fixed-point theorem (BFPT), which allows demonstrating that under an adequate voltage profile the triangular-based PF always converges. Numerical validations are made, on the well-known 33 and 69 distribution networks test systems. Gauss-seidel, newton-raphson, and backward/forward PF methods are considered for the sake of comparison. All the simulations are carried out in MATLAB software.

Various demand side management techniques and its role in smart grid–the stat...IJECEIAES
The current lifestyle of humanity relies heavily on energy consumption, thusrendering it an inevitable need. An ever-increasing demand for energy hasresulted from the increasing population. Most of this demand is met by thetraditional sources that continuously deplete and raise significantenvironmental issues. The existing power structure of developing nations isaging, unstable, and unfeasible, further prolonging the problem. The existingelectricity grid is unstable, vulnerable to blackouts and disruption, has hightransmission losses, low quality of power, insufficient electricity supply, anddiscourages distributed energy sources from being incorporated. Mitigatingthese problems requires a complete redesign of the system of powerdistribution. The modernization of the electric grid, i.e., the smart grid, is anemerging combination of different technologies designed to bring about theelectrical power grid that is changing dramatically. Demand sidemanagement (DSM) allow customers to be more involved in contributors tothe power systems to achieve system goals by scheduling their shiftableload. Effective DSM systems require the participation of customers in thesystem that can be done in a fair system. This paper focuses primarily ontechniques of DSM and demand responses (DR), including schedulingapproaches and strategies for optimal savings.
A hybrid algorithm for voltage stability enhancement of distribution systems IJECEIAES
This paper presents a hybrid algorithm by applying a hybrid firefly and particle swarm optimization algorithm (HFPSO) to determine the optimal sizing of distributed generation (DG) and distribution static compensator (D-STATCOM) device. A multi-objective function is employed to enhance the voltage stability, voltage profile, and minimize the total power loss of the radial distribution system (RDS). Firstly, the voltage stability index (VSI) is applied to locate the optimal location of DG and D-STATCOM respectively. Secondly, to overcome the sup-optimal operation of existing algorithms, the HFPSO algorithm is utilized to determine the optimal size of both DG and D-STATCOM. Verification of the proposed algorithm has achieved on the standard IEEE 33-bus and Iraqi 65-bus radial distribution systems through simulation using MATLAB. Comprehensive simulation results of four different cases show that the proposed HFPSO demonstrates significant improvements over other existing algorithms in supporting voltage stability and loss reduction in distribution networks. Furthermore, comparisons have achieved to demonstrate the superiority of HFPSO algorithms over other techniques due to its ability to determine the global optimum solution by easy way and speed converge feature.
Coordinated planning in improving power quality considering the use of nonlin...IJECEIAES
Power quality has an important role in the distribution of electrical energy. The use of non-linear load can generate harmonic spread which can reduce the power quality in the radial distribution system. This research is in form of coordinated planning by combining distributed generation placement, capacitor placement and network reconfiguration to simultaneously minimize active power losses, total harmonic distortion (THD), and voltage deviation as an objective function using the particle swarm optimization method. This optimization technique will be tested on two types of networks in the form 33-bus and 69-bus IEEE Standard Test System to show effectiveness of the proposed method. The use of MATLAB programming shows the result of simulation of increasing power quality achieved for all scenario of proposed method.
Direct current (DC) electronic load is a useful equipment for testing the electrical system. It can emulate various load at a high rating. The electronic load requires a power converter to operate and a linear regulator is a common option. Nonetheless, it is hard to control due to the temperature variation. This paper proposed a DC electronic load using the boost converter. The proposed electronic load operates in the continuous current mode and control using the integral controller. The electronic load using the boost converter is compared with the electronic load using the linear regulator. The results show that the boost converter able to operate as an electronic load with an error lower than 0.5% and response time lower than 13 ms.
VOLTAGE PROFILE IMPROVEMENT AND LINE LOSSES REDUCTION USING DG USING GSA AND ...Journal For Research
In recent years, the power industry has experienced significant changes on the power distribution systems primarily due to the implementation of smart-grid technology and the incremental implementation of distributed generation. Distributed Generation (DG) is simply defined as the decentralization of power plants by placing smaller generating units closer to the point of consumption, traditionally ten mega-watts or smaller. The distribution power system is generally designed for radial power flow, but with the introduction of DG, power flow becomes bidirectional. Therefore this thesis focuses on testing various indices and using effective techniques for the optimal placement and sizing of the DG unit by minimizing power losses and voltage deviation. A 14-bus radial distribution system has been taken as the test system. The feasibility of the work lies on the fast execution of the programs as it would be equipped with the real time operation of the distribution system and it is seen that execution of the DG placement is quite fast and feasible with the optimization techniques used in this work.
Embedded fuzzy controller for water level control IJECEIAES
This article presents the design of a fuzzy controller embedded in a microcontroller aimed at implementing a low-cost, modular process control system. The fuzzy system's construction is based on a classical proportional and derivative controller, where inputs of error and its derivate depend on the difference between the desired setpoint and the actual level; the goal is to control the water level of coupled tanks. The process is oriented to control based on the knowledge that facilitates the adjustment of the output variable without complex mathematical modeling. In different response tests of the fuzzy controller, a maximum over-impulse greater than 8% or a steady-state error greater than 2.1% was not evidenced when varying the setpoint.
Design methodology of smart photovoltaic plant IJECEIAES
In this article, we present a new methodology to design an intelligent photovoltaic power plant connected to an electrical grid with storage to supply the laying hen rearing centers. This study requires a very competent design methodology in order to optimize the production and consumption of electrical energy. Our contribution consists in proposing a robust dimensioning synthesis elaborated according to a data flow chart. To achieve this objective, the photovoltaic system was first designed using a deterministic method, then the software "Homer" was used to check the feasibility of the design. Then, controllers (fuzzy logic) were used to optimize the energy produced and consumed. The power produced by the photovoltaic generator (GPV) is optimized by two fuzzy controllers: one to extract the maximum energy and another to control the batteries. The energy consumed by the load is optimized by a fuzzy controller that regulates the internal climate of the livestock buildings. The proposed control strategies are developed and implemented using MATLAB/Simulink.
The inverter is the principal part of the photovoltaic (PV) systems that assures the direct current/alternating current (DC/AC) conversion (PV array is connected directly to an inverter that converts the DC energy produced by the PV array into AC energy that is directly connected to the electric utility). In this paper, we present a simple method for detecting faults that occurred during the operation of the inverter. These types of faults or faults affect the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the photovoltaic system, especially the inverter, which is the main component responsible for the conversion. Hence, we have shown first the faults obtained in the case of the short circuit. Second, the open circuit failure is studied. The results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. Good monitoring and detection of faults in the inverter can increase the system's reliability and decrease the undesirable faults that appeared in the PV system. The system behavior is tested under variable parameters and conditions using MATLAB/Simulink.

It can work in different modes: active power filtering, power factor correction, and load unbalance compensation. It is based on a current controlled voltage-source inverter with fixed carrier PWM. The control algorithm generates the source reference currents based on the controlled DC link voltage. The dimensioning criteria of the inductive and capacitive power components are discussed. The implementation is validated with simulated and experimental results obtained in a 5 kVA prototype. Keywords: distribution networks, losses, load unbalance, power flow

Voltage and frequency control of microgrid in presence of micro-turbine inter...IJECEIAES
The active and reactive load changes have a significant impact on voltage
and frequency. In this paper, in order to stabilize the microgrid (MG) against
load variations in islanding mode, the active and reactive power of all
distributed generators (DGs), including energy storage (battery), diesel
generator, and micro-turbine, are controlled. The micro-turbine generator is
connected to MG through a three-phase to three-phase matrix converter, and
the droop control method is applied for controlling the voltage and
frequency of MG. In addition, a method is introduced for voltage and
frequency control of micro-turbines in the transition state from gridconnected mode to islanding mode. A novel switching strategy of the matrix
converter is used for converting the high-frequency output voltage of the
micro-turbine to the grid-side frequency of the utility system. Moreover,
using the switching strategy, the low-order harmonics in the output current
and voltage are not produced, and consequently, the size of the output filter
would be reduced. In fact, the suggested control strategy is load-independent
and has no frequency conversion restrictions. The proposed approach for
voltage and frequency regulation demonstrates exceptional performance and
favorable response across various load alteration scenarios. The suggested
strategy is examined in several scenarios in the MG test systems, and the
simulation results are addressed.
Machine learning for prediction models to mitigate the voltage deviation in ...IJECEIAES
The voltage deviation is one of the most crucial power quality issues that occur in electrical power systems. Renewable energy plays a vital role in electrical distribution networks due to the high economic returns. However, the presence of photovoltaic systems changes the nature of the energy flow in the grid and causes many problems such as voltage deviation. In this work, several predictive models are examined for voltage regulation in the Jordanian Sabha distribution network equipped with photovoltaic farms. The augmented grey wolf optimizer is used to train the different predictive models. To evaluate the performance of models, a value of one for regression factor and a low value for root mean square error, mean square error, and mean absolute error are used as standards. In addition, a comparison between nineteen predictive models has been made. The results have proved the capability of linear regression and the gaussian process to restore the bus voltages in the distribution network accurately and quickly and to solve the shortening in the voltage dynamic response caused by the iterative nature of the heuristic algorithm.
Today power electronics play an important role in the electric industry. Power electronic converters are an inseparable component in power systems. One of these converters is DC/AC inverter that is widely used in power systems, industrial applications, electric motor drive and electric vehicles. Due to the tense situation with the complexity that exists in these applications, inverters are exposed to failure. The fault occurring in inverter can cause disturbance and damaging harmonics, cut some industrial processes to in the power system or in the case of electric vehicles, causing irreparable damage. For this reason, detecting faults in the inverter is very important. In this paper, open circuit fault of IGBT in an electric vehicle has been examined. We use three-phase current and wavelet transform to identify the state of the system and we can extract current waveform characteristics. We use neural network algorithm for fault detection and classification. An electric vehicle in 5 different speeds and 5 different torque and a total of 220 failure modes have been studied and tested. The results show the method has been succeeded to detection all forms of defined faults.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

Abstract
Electromagnetic compatibility of power electronic systems becomes an engineering discipline and it should be considered at the
beginning stage of a design. Thus, a power electronics design becomes more complex and challenging and it requires a good
communication between EMI and Power electronics experts. Three major issues in designing a power electronic system are Losses,
EMI and Harmonics. These issues affect system cost, size, efficiency and quality and it is a tradeoff between these factors when we
design a power converter, filter. In this paper the EMC model is discussed which should be considered while designing the power
electronics systems. The design considerations in this paper help us to remove losses, harmonics & EMI elimination and power
quality improvement of Power systems.

1. INTRODUCTION
Power Electronics can be split into a Power and an Electronic
circuit. The power circuit converts an unregulated input power
from AC or DC type to a regulated AC or DC voltage or
current and delivers it to a load. The electronic circuit controls
the converter by measuring the input and output voltages
and/or currents and generates signals for the power circuit. In
a power electronic system, the flow of electric energy is
controlled based on a load demand. In a power electronic
system, line and EMI filters are important sections of a
system.
Main aims in modern power electronic systems are to deliver
the power with maximum efficiency, minimum cost and
weight in an integrated circuit. Power electronics has a
significant role in different industries when power processing
is required such as in computers, telecommunications, motor
drives, cars and alternative energy systems.
In power converters, efficiency is a main concern. Power
circuits consist of capacitors, magnetic elements and
transistors in switched mode. Resistors and power switches in
linear modes are not used in most power circuits due to
significant losses generated by current through these
components which decrease the efficiency and cause thermal
problems. In power electronics high voltages and high currents
are processed by fast switching to reduce losses which are
significant sources of electromagnetic noise and it cause
additional costs. Main EMI research targets in power
electronics are:
Fig -1: Basic Model of Power Electronics
• Analysis of electromagnetic emissions by measurements,
modeling and simulations.
• Development active EMI filters in high power converters to
suppress EMI noise.
How to reduce harmonics?
Increasing switching frequency can reduce low order
harmonics and improve quality of output voltage or for a same
quality, it reduces the size of low pass filter (L&C
components); but the switching losses are increased. Thus it is
a tradeoff between quality and losses.

In a power converter, increasing losses decreases the
efficiency of the system and increases junction temperature of
power switches which may damage them if heat is not
transferred to ambient. Thus, the system may need a heat sink
to transfer heat from junction into ambient which increases
cost, size and weight of the power converter. A main part of
total losses is the switching loss which depends on switching
times and switching frequency. Fig.3 shows two waveforms
with different switching times. The switching loss can be
reduced by decreasing the switching time, but fast switching
increases dv/dt and di/dt which affects EMI noise.

2. PROPOSED MODEL
2.1. Converter Model
Any EMC analysis must account for the ground
potential. Therefore,a power electronics converter, fed by a
single phase or a DC power line, has to be considered as a
quadrupole: two power access and a reference potential. Since
the converter can be considered as an EMI generator, some
sources have to be added to the conventional quadrupole
representation. We chose to add current sources Therefore, the
generic EMC model for a power converter is the one presented
in Figure4. In Comparison with other work, it accounts for all
necessary parameters, without any redundancy or
approximation. Other representations using voltage source can
also be used; they can be easily obtained from the proposed
Norton scheme.
Fig -4: Model of converter
Three impedances and two current sources have thus to be
identified on the whole frequency range of interest. To achieve
this task, one possible solution is to measure the input voltage
and currents for several operating conditions, obtained by
varying line impedance. Any line impedance can be changed,
either Common Mode, or Differential Mode. To be noticed
that this change in power line impedance must not affect the
switching behavior of the converter, in order the sources can
be properly identified. Therefore, this method is more adapted
for identifying a power converter rather than a switching cell,
as proposed in [1]. Further works of [1] have indeed been
oriented to power converter modeling [2].

2.2. Active Filters Model
Different approaches such as notch filter, (Newman et al.,
2002), scalar control,[7] (Chandra et al., 2000), instantaneous
reactive power theory,[5] (Furuhashi et al., 1990, Akagi et al.,
2007),synchronous detection method[8], (Chen et al., 1993),
synchronous d–q frame method,[10](Mendalek et al., 2003),
flux-based control, [6](Bhattacharya et al., 1996), and closed
loop PI, (Bhattacharya et al., 1996), internal model control,
(Marconi et al., 2007), and sliding mode control,[12] (Saetieo
et al., 1995), can be used to improve the active filter
performance. Also, the direct power control method has found
application in active filters, [8](Chen & Joós, 2008). Specific
harmonics can be cancelled out in the grid using the selective
harmonic elimination method [9](Lascu et al., 2007). In all
cases, the goal is to design a simple but robust control system
for the filter. Usually, the voltage-source is preferred over the
current-source to implement the parallel active power filter
since it has some advantages, [11](Routimo et al., 2007).
Using higher voltages in the DC bus is desirable and can be
achieved with a multilevel inverter [3](Lin & Yang, 2004). In
this section it is used the voltage-source parallel topology,
schematically shown in Fig. 6.
Fig -6: Connection Diagram of a voltage source active power
filter.
The filter generates currents in the connection point in order
to: 1- cancel/minimize the harmonic content in the AC system,
2- correct the power factor at fundamental frequency, 3-
regulate the voltage magnitude, and 4- balance loads. So, the
AC distribution system only carries the active fundamental
component of the load current. Very different current control
algorithms can be applied to the active filter, [5](Akagi,
2005).The current reference for the active filter connection
node usually satisfies one of the two following strategies: 1-
power factor correction, harmonic elimination, and load
unbalance compensation or, 2- voltage regulation, harmonic
elimination, and load unbalance compensation.
The voltage regulation strategy is a concurrent objective faced
to the power factor compensation because the two depend on
the reactive current. However, any control algorithm has
enough flexibility to be configured, in real-time, to either
objectives or for the two, in a weighted form. Even under the
same compensation strategy, the filter can be controlled with
different control algorithms. Two main approaches are
common: voltage control, and current control. Both methods
have advantages and weaknesses.

current (top) and AC source current (bottom), with the APF

CONCLUSIONS
A compact EMC model for a power electronics converter,
filter based on a black box approach, has been proposed, as
well as the identification method. The difficulties of model
identification have been studied in a simplified case. The
obtained model is compact and allows very quick simulations,
even if several converters are to be handled. It should thus be a
good method to forecast EMI in embedded networks. The
converter model and the active filter model is discussed which
helps to improve the quality of power electronics systems.
