This document summarizes the results of an industrial hygiene risk assessment conducted at 9 sites across 6 Asian countries. High and medium risk activities were identified, including acid gas stripping, welding and grinding of parts containing hazardous materials, and painting involving methyl isocyanate. Challenges in collecting accurate frequency and duration data were addressed by obtaining historical records. The risk assessment was an effective tool for prioritizing which of the 200+ chemicals and 300+ activities required exposure monitoring, and for identifying opportunities to implement controls before monitoring. Future plans include refining the risk criteria and providing training to site-level professionals.
