Unit 73: Sound For Computer Games
Game Title
Lost odyssey
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish…
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting
There is a lot of shouting screaming and clashing of metal as well as a few
mechanical whirling noises.
Mood
The mood throughout always seems to be very rushed, like what is happening in the
cut scene has to happen quickly, only near the end is there any kind of setting for
mood, when the rumbling sound happens and the music starts playing, giving both a
heroic and foreboding feeling . Throughout the clip there is the occasional slowed
rushing sound where the cut scene goes in slow motion.
The clashes of metal as shouting could have been
recorded out in the field where as the mechanical
noised will most likely have been generated
electronically
The rumbling will have been computer generated
by deepening an existing sound effect. The music
will have been recorded in a studio and the slow
motion parts will have been edited.
Game genre
This game is most certainly and action/war game. It is easy to tell because all the
war cries, slashing sounds and the constant clashing of metal.
The sound effects will have been recorded
Narrative
There isn’t any narrative in this besides the occasional scream or war cry
This will have been recorded outside instead of in
a studio.
