The Influences of Nature In Hinduism
In every civilization there is a main a religion and an influence of that religion. In India the main
religion is Hinduism and Hinduism is influenced by the nature around the country. Christopher G.
Framarin proposed his theory on how nature influences India in his journal, The value of nature in
India (Hindu) traditions. Framarin explains his ideas on how to achieve moksa and what animals have
effect on the moksa cycle. He also places other philosophers ideas into his journal and thoroughly
explains the ideas in detail and how he feels about them. The traditions of Hindusim that are
influenced by nature has an effect on everything they believe in. Ahimsa is doing good deeds or non
harm to anything in this world. Through ahimsa Hindu people can achieve moska. However, there are
more rules than just being nice to work through the caste system in Hinduism. Even though ahimsa is
non harmful there are many strict ideas on what exactly is harmful. Himsa can postpone moska, himsa
is the deed of doing harm or injury to another being. In the caste system the way someone can rise up
the top and become a divine is for him or her to perform ahimsa deeds and through each reincarnation
to step up in the caste. The Hindu s use a form of measurement when figuring out if the move up or
down in the system. Every ahima deed someone does it produces a merit and for every himsa deed it
produces a demerit. If so many merits are achieved moksa will be complete, however if a demerit is
taken

Istj Critical Thinking Model
ISTJ individuals, or traditionalists, are honest, direct, decisive, efficient, dedicated, responsible, strong
willed, reliable, committed, and trustworthy.1 As ISTJ s are very strong willed and dedicated, Jung s
test describes them as doers. 1 ISTJ s are very competitive and always pushing themselves to improve
and succeed. 1 I was not surprised by outcome of being labeled as an ISTJ. My results did produce
what I anticipated in terms of characteristics and even in terms of career paths. The career paths of an
ISTJ are listed as those in law or government, i.e. military personnel, judges, teachers, accountants,
detectives, doctors, etc. 1 Though my career path of an interior designer was not listed for an ISTJ, I
am not surprised. Interior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The City State Of Zamon Dor
Set into the towering side of Mt.Momentum, the city state of Zamon Dor dwarfed the surrounding
duchies and townships. Zamon Dor was the land of inventions and innovations; there was nothing its
tinkerers could not think up, nothing its architects could not build. Clockwork and its mechanisms
made the city what it was; they offered all sorts of comforts that other nations could only dream of.
The city itself was alive with the hustle and bustle of daily life: men could be heard talking, women
laughing, and children playing, all set to the sound of a soft mechanical whirring as Zamon Dors
inventions were alive in all aspects of life. People wore artisanal watches, others rode on clockwork
bicycles, and the city gleamed and sparkled during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The garden was small, but this is where the timewalker spent most of her life.
The lush green of the palace gardens offered a much needed juxtaposition against the sea of machines
outside of the garden walls. There were no birds or insects to be seen, as neither existed in Zamon
Dor, and so there was only the sound of the wind as it rustled the leaves of the great tree in the middle
of the garden. This was where Kali, the palace timewalker, came every day from mid morning to just
before dusk. Kali was the definition of serenity, her appearance was that of an older child, aged
anywhere between thirteen to sixteen. Her skin was fair, with jet black hair and steely eyes that could
pierce through even the toughest of men.
Sir Kairos, a member of the consulship and Kali s overseer, was a short, stout man who was half bald.
Despite his aged appearance, he had a silver tongue, with honeyed words dripping with power. He was
one of the few who was given his position, rather than being born into it.
Kali, oh Kali dearest, Kairos said in a singsong voice, poking his head through the garden gate and
cutting the silence, I need to see you, very important business. Orders from the Chief Magistrate
himself! And you know how he gets when he s kept waiting. With that, Kairos departed, surely to
attend to the very important matter of deciding what outfit would best please the Chief Magistrate.
Kali silently stood and began down the corridor

Intern Project Essay
Projects
Intern Projects
Below I have compiled a quick list of all the projects that I worked on while I was at Garmin AT and
my role in the project. All the proprietary information has been removed so some details may be
intentionally vague.
Major Projects
Flight Data Logging Gathered flight data from many parts of the system in 1 second intervals. Built a
page that would allow exporting of this data to an SD card by the end user.
WAAS Data Logging Gathered WAAS data as it was being sent to our system and stored the
information in its own logs. Also allowed exporting of this data to an SD card by the end user.
Dynamic Debug Page I created the page to allow debugging messages from the system to be toggled
on or off by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obstacle DB Integration I wrote the requirements for the integration of the obstacle database for the
system I was working on.
Mock up UI Options The pages I created all had to be accessed from other pages. Because of this we
had to do a review of how the pages would look after I had changed them to ensure they still met
Garmin standards. I had to adjust the size of some icons, text, and move buttons around. In many
cases I submitted multiple different possible layouts for the changed pages so that our UI team could
pick the option that looked best.
Wiki Pages Created a wiki page for new hires and interns on our team to show them how to use the
GIT repo our team had. This shows how to get it set up and how to use the features of GIT that were
used on the team I was on.
Main Project Details
Probably the single best project that describes my internship is the data logging project. This was a
project that I was given almost a month after I started but also lasted until almost the end of my
internship. This was also one of the largest projects I worked on that I can discuss in enough detail to
explain why it describes my internship.
This was a great project for any intern or new employee because of the amount of exposure that it
gave to the codebase. It required pieces of many different part of the Garmin libraries as there was a
lot of information that went into the logs. Because of this, I had to gain more understanding

Parking Spaces At The New Livermore Bart Station
Parking Statistics
Introduction
A parking structure is being built for the new Livermore BART station. The Livermore Department of
Transportation would like to provide as many parking spaces as possible in the parking structure. This
study will determine an ideal parking space size in order to maximize the amount of available spaces
while still accommodating an appropriate range of car sizes.
Methods
We located a sample pool of automobiles that accurately reflected the socio economic demographic of
the Livermore area to determine the type of cars owned in the community. From this sample we
determined the range in car sizes that would be parking in the new parking structure. We measured a
sample of the automobile s lengths and widths to determine the mean and deviation of the vehicles the
new parking structure would need to accommodate. We determined the seven parking lots of Las
Positas College was an accurate and large enough representation of the demographic that would be
utilizing the Livermore BART station parking structure. Different student demographics use different
parking lots on campus. The trucks and bigger vehicles driven by the firefighting students, veterans
and welding students parked in the lots closer to their buildings. For this reason, we found it necessary
to take sample measurements from all seven parking lots at the Las Positas College campus so that we
would have an accurate sample of the lifestyles reflected by car sizes that would be using the

Appeasement Policy Essay
Today, the Appeasement policy that Britain and France in the period of German aggression, was one
of the main factors historians would consider to have caused the Second World War. Had the British or
any of the Allied powers, intervened in Nazi expansionism, the war could have been prevented as
early as 1936, when Germany violated the Treaty of Versailles with the occupation of the Rhineland.
The Appeasement is seen as the act of cowardice and of poor judgement of the world powers. Britain,
in particular, is in the spotlight. It was still considered the major power as well as the leader the rest of
the world looked upon to champion democracy and to uphold its position as the winner of the first
world war. There are arguments that with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the British government, risking war will only bring in more costs and conflicts they did not need.
This also means that perhaps the lack of intervention to the British was not seen as an act of
cowardice, but simply an act for convenience the idea that it is too much trouble to go to war. Besides
the fact that Britain already had a lot on its plate, perhaps the primary reason why Britain did not get
into conflict with Germany is because of the public consensus that they the people simply did not want
to go to war. Britain did not stand up to the Nazis, because the British people did not want to stand up
to the Nazis. Throughout Europe, not just in Britain, memories of the first world war was still very
much present in people s minds. To people at the time, they were currently living through its direct
consequences. The British public insisted that everything must be done so that war would not occur.
Indeed, the policy of appeasement is evidence of that, on its own. But this can be seen most strikingly
on September 15, 1938. Britain realized that Germany s attack on Czechoslovakia would lead to war
with France and the Soviet Union, which also implies inevitable British involvement in the conflict. In
which case, Chamberlain met with Hitler at Berchtesgaden where Britain forced the Czechs to give up

Analysis Of The Book A Good Story
A good story, in my opinion, will have certain elements that keep a reader interested. Of course the
most obvious of those is the story line itself. No one will continue to read if they are not intrigued by
the plot. Secondly and equally important are the characters. Even if the story is captivating there is
little interest in continuing on if the characters are not either incredibly likable or easily feared or
hated. A strongly developed character will always keep a reader following along. In this particular
instance its the monsters that makes the play.
When it comes to the topic of monsters, most of us will readily agree that they are bad. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of what makes a monster. Although ... Show more

In order to show the importance of a reader response to a story, I will attempt to show how at least
three characters in Shakespeare s The Tempest could have been perceived as the monster of the tale.
Stephen T. Asma writes that good monster stories can transmit moral truths to us by showing us
examples of dignity and depravity without preaching or proselytizing. (pg 64) Considering that people
can live by very different morals, monsters can be seen in so many different forms. The Tempest is a
perfect example of this. There are at least fifteen characters in the play and of those characters there
are at least three that can be viewed as being a monster or at least possessing some monster like
qualities.
One of the most obvious choices as the monster of the play could be Antonio. He can be found to say
Nobel Sebastian, thou lett st thy fortune sleep die, rather; wink st whiles thou art waking. (2.1.210) in
reference to the sleeping King Alonso. Antonio makes this comment to the king s brother, in order to
convince him that murdering the king is his best chance of taking the throne for himself. In Act 3,
scene 3 Antonio can again be seen speaking of the king s murder when he speaks the line, I am right
glad that he s so out of hope. Do not for one repulse, forgo the purpose that you resolved t effect.
(3.3.11) In some opinions a person who is lacking morals and has become so greedy that they are
willing to plot and plan a murder can be viewed as the most

American Education System Research Paper
Eastern Republic of Uruguay also known internationally as Uruguay, is the smallest country in the
region of South America. Although being small in size, it is widely known for a variety of
characteristics such as: its rich culture, European heritage, and its high percentage of of education
progression. After researching for hours on this beautiful country, it came to my attention how
relatively similar their education system was to ours. Many of us go through school, dreading it, not
appreciating the opportunity to gain an education and sadly theres that few that do drop out. This
similar issue is also occurring in many developing countries such as Uruguay; despite of being

According to an article of SOS Children s Villages International: General Information on Uruguay In
rural areas, dropout levels are as high as 27 per cent. High dropout rates are particularly common
among the poor. Since education is often seen as the key element in helping children develop their full
potential, failing in school often has relevant poverty and inequality implications for the child s adult
life . The dropout issue was very common when I was in high school the majority of the males in my
school would drop out because they got their significant other pregnant or because they were
associated with gangs. In the same case with the females, some were ending up pregnant, raped, or

Essay On Canada s Transportation System
Canada s Transportation System.
Transportation is the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another.
Transportation is the system of road transportation, rail transportation, marine transportation and air
transportation.
Transportation always played an important role in the history of Canada because of building the
railway system many provinces such as British Columbia and Prince Edward Island agreed to join
Confederation. The first Canada s railway line was built in 1836 and the first railway system was
completed and opened in 1885. November 8, 1885, the first rail train traveled across Canada from sea
to sea. There were the first steps of transportation s history of Canada.
Transportation is an essential component of the Canadian economy. The transportation s system makes
possible to Canada to trade and develop local and international businesses. Canadians like to think of
themselves as residents of an autonomous nation, but increasingly, local and national politics are
dictated by the global shipping network. Without foreign buyers of raw materials like softwood and
oil, Canada would be a much poorer place. Shelves would go bare and the economy ... Show more

When Canadian government, in the 1870s, promised to build a railway from Nova Scotia to British
Columbia it took more than two years just to find a company who agreed to do it. Also, it happens
today when the country needs to grow up the transportation system the government asks companies or
people to help. For example, in March 2015, Vancouver s government interviewed residents for an
option of paying a 0.5 per cent sales tax in exchange for a vastly upgraded rapid transit system.
Funding infrastructure projects in Canada, and elsewhere in North America, are a perennial challenge
that s been most commonly answered by taxpayers, said Fiona Crofton, a sustainability professional

Reconstruction Of Japan Essay
The Reconstruction of Japan After the United States defeated Japan in World War II, Japan was left
with devastating casualties and reparations to be done. The United States wanted to secure Japan and
wanted to influence them, that way Japan would not turn to Soviet communism during the Cold War.
In order to make proper reparations, General Douglas A. MacArthur was in charge of the restoration
of Japan. MacArthur proposed a reconstruction program which included military, political, economic,
and social reforms. So the United States could be able to impose the reconstruction program in Japan,
the Allied powers wanted to disarm Japan, deal with colonies, stabilize the economy, and prevent
remilitarization. General MacArthur began to work on the reconstruction of Japan in September, 1945
and divided the reconstruction was to be divided into three phases. The three phases were to reform

Monster Culture Thesis
Since the first horror films were produced over a hundred years ago, they have managed to keep
people shivering in terror. For a few, it is the actual monster that is the most frightening, but for the
majority, what lies beneath the surface is what brings the most terror. The visually stimulated fear of
the actual monster tends to fade, but the deeper rooted fears that the monster represents tend to have a
much longer lasting impression on the viewer. Horror films of the forties and fifties appealed to the
publics fear of war and nuclear attack, and horror films of today appeal to fears in much of the same
way. Many modern day horror films manage to strike fear in the widest audience by appealing to their
childhood fears such as the dark, strangers, or creepy clowns. ... Show more content on

As Jeffery Cohen has stated in his Seven Thesis of Monster Culture, The Monster s Body Is a Cultural
Body. Horror films are supposed to appeal to the fears of not just a few, but of the public. As people
grow, their fears change, material things lose their horror, and it is the things that we can not control
that replace them; some adults fear the government, while others simply fear what the future brings.
Contrary to this, when we are children we all tend to fear many of the same things. It is for this reason
that the majority of horror films have tended to appeal to childhood fears; they are similar for many
people and appeal to the fears of the widest

Before the fall of the Roman Empire you must stop and look at the power that was held within the
millions of miles of land, building, people, cities, kings, and customs. The Roman Empire was not
known for being just another city or empire but it was known for its strength, power and victories in
the times of conflict and wars. The roman empire was built up to what it was right up until the fall by

made the most significant bishops throughout all the empire. The archbishops were spread all
throughout the land including Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Jerusalem and Antioch but the issue
in this situation was that the east contained four out of the five archbishops while the west simply had
one archbishop, so there was not equal balance to both sides. A great division began to take place
between the two sides as time passed and their political views as well as their cultural views began to

world seemed to be something that he would easily skip out on if it meant that he would not have to

sometimes as he looked at social media, Facebook postings, the utter insanity that the world had come

The Pros And Cons Of Harry Harlow
Harry Harlow, American psychologist, surrounded in controversy, drove psychologists bananas. He
questioned whether children established relationships with their maternal figures because food, or if
children established relationships based off of other factors. To test this theory, Harlow bred and
studied the rhesus monkeys to determine what is the basis of a bond. Separating the children from
their mother, Harlow introduced surrogate parents, the wire mother and the cloth mother. The wire
mother was wooden and metal contraption with a bottle for food, while the cloth mother was swaddled
in the same fabric that lined the children s cages. The results were overwhelming, with the monkeys
preferring the cloth mother for the majority of the time. The monkeys would often only resort to the
wire mother, when necessary and preferred the cloth mother in times of duress, confusion, and even
for a sense of security. He concluded that children, regardless of species, formed bonds with their
maternal figures because they give the child a sense of security/comfort, contrasting the behaviorist
theory that children only established bonds due to their caretakers being their only food source.
However, Harlow did not stop here, he continued his research and tested the effects of complete
isolation. His new study, the pit of despair , kept monkeys in isolation for at least a year, and then
would reintroduce them to other children. The effects of isolation resulted in aggressive behavior,

hopes of ascertaining the life or death of his family. His name was Mr. Pirzada, and he came from
Dacca, now the capital of Bangladesh, but then a part of Pakistan. That year Pakistan was engaged in
civil war. The eastern frontier, where Dacca was located, was fighting for autonomy from the ruling
regime in the west. In March, Dacca had been invaded, torched and shelled by the Pakistani army.

Differential Diagnoses And Physical Examination
Differential Diagnoses and Physical Examination
Differential diagnoses for the case study presented above include scarlet fever, measles, roseola, and
Kawasaki disease (KD) (Glass, 2014). Scarlet fever presents within one to two days of the onset of
symptoms from a group A streptococcal infection (Friedman, Scholes Yoon, 2014). The rash
associated with scarlet fever is diffuse, fine, erythematous, and blanches with pressure (Friedman et
al., 2014). A strawberry appearing tongue is also associated with scarlet fever (Friedman et al., 2014).
Measles is associated with lethargy, high fevers, Koplik spots, and a maculopapular rash that spreads
from the face and trunk to the extremities (Levin, 2014). Typically, the fevers will resolve within two
to three days after the rash appears (Levin, 2014). Roseola is characterized by drowsiness, high fevers,
febrile seizures, irritability, otitis media, mild diarrhea, and respiratory distress (Glass, 2014).
Kawasaki disease is associated with fevers that persist for at least five days, non exudative
conjunctivitis, lesions or inflammation in the oral cavity, cervical lymphadenopathy, polymorphous
exanthema, and extremity changes (Darst, Collins, Miyamoto, 2014). Diagnostic criteria require fever
and four other associated symptoms for the diagnosis of KD (Darst et al., 2014). Based on the case
scenario, the writer is highly suspicious of KD, which also happens to be the most concerning

False Journalism And The Spanish-American War
Journalism is the only source to obtain information to form a personal opinion about events that are
happening in society, but often is fueled by sales and viewership that often presents false reports to
drive popular opinions. The opinions that are presented to the unaware subscriber or viewer can be
dangerous when a person starts to believe in everything that is being presented to them. The
expectation of the news media to present only facts is far from the agenda of media. Whereas, the
media needs to be profitable like any other corporation. For instance, the media started the Spanish
American war through false journalism as competition between two rival newspapers. William
Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer were owners of separate New

Ode To The West Wind Essay
Theme : Inspiration in amp;#8220;Ode to the West Wind ;
amp;#8220;When composition begins, inspiration is already on the decline ; P. B. Shelley
Shelley deals with the theme of inspiration in much of his work. However it is particularly apparent in
amp;#8216;Ode to the West Wind amp;#8217; where the wind is the source of his creativity. The
cycles of death and rebirth are examined in an historical context with reference to The Bible. The
word inspiration has several connotations that Shelley uses in this amp;#8216;Ode amp;#8217;.

Coupled with the elusiveness of the wind to the human eye the effect is that the wind is an
amp;#8220;uncontrollable ; power that cannot be contained. In the fifth stanza Shelley refers to
amp;#8220;the incantation of this verse ;(l.65) this is of pagan origins and he is invoking the wind to
work through him. As a magician the wind works it amp;#8217;s magic throughout nature and it
knows no bounds as the earth, water and air all feel it amp;#8217;s power. The imagery associated
with this suggests that Shelley expected his work to also spread over the universe, like the wind, and
inspire others just as the wind was an inspiration to him. The amp;#8220;dead thoughts ; he refers to
could be the words he has written down that die as soon as they are recorded. Although not the source
of his inspiration others could read them and experience what he felt in that wood that skirts the Arno.
In the tradition of the sublime this description acts as a denial of sense perception and it is associated
with an object of pure thought an unknown power that animates all life. The wind is, therefore, seen as
a spirit because of its lack of being. This spirit can only be known by it amp;#8217;s effects and we
see those in the first stanza as amp;#8220;the leaves dead / Are driven amp;#8230; to their wintry bed
;(ll. 2,3,6). The wind amp;#8217;s role is to spread the dead leaves and this enables the seeds to spread
and begin life anew. In this double role of

The ecological reasons that explain this result is that the FID won t have a consequence in the richness

Gender And Gender Socialization
Gender is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as the behavioral, cultural, or psychological
traits typically associated with one sex (2017). Gender and the way we carry out gender have been
linked to many different terms to try to create a better understanding of why we have or do gender
accordingly to what was assigned at birth. Through the process of gender socialization, a plethora of
social norms and expectations are bestowed upon all individuals as early as when an embryo s sex is
determined. To further describe and understand the prevalence of gender and its socialization I spent a
night and a day with my little cousins Leah age 5 (Female) and Landon age 4 (Male). They are a part
of a biracial four family member household in which their dad works full time and is the sole earner of
resources and their mom is in school and works a part time job. I believe the structure of their family
is modeled as the typical American Family and as far as their family s classification in an economic
class, they would be considered Upper Middle class. After taking their economic class into
consideration I have realized that these children are and will be able to gain access to more resources
associated with gender than their lower classed counter parts. Not meaning that they will be more
aware of how their gender is supposed to act but they will have access more access to resources like
being able to obtain psychological help and education.

How Sports Can Help Bring Together Diverse Groups Of People
As a theater artist, I ve never had time for sports. I looked at the world and it s people through the eyes
of a Shakespeare geek, and thought throwing around a ball and cheering for people wearing certain
colors was a waste of time. Never in my wildest dreams would I think of giving football the time of
day, but that was before I became a mascot. By some kind of luck and desperation for a job I have
ended up as the Piper: the red and grey sports mascot of Hamline. Through this job I have come to see
how sports can help bring together diverse groups of people, and inspire the spectators to be their best
selves. When I went to bed the night before my very first football game, I was nervous and excited. I
was about to become a part of something which I had no knowledge of. When I originally applied to
be the piper had no idea what the job would detail, I just needed the money. I was homeschooled for
all of middle school and high school and had never seen a football game before in my life, even on
TV. I was surprised, but very pleased, that I even got the job. As I fell asleep, I was anxiously
anticipating becoming a part of something new. I should have expected that something would go
wrong. I woke up at 12:30pm on the day of the game. I was supposed to be present and ready to don
my costume a half an hour prior, according to the vast amount of messages that cluttered my phone s
lockscreen. I spent the next 20 minutes in traffic convincing myself that I would be fired,

The Criminal Justice System In 12 Angry Men By Reginald Rose
During the time in class we have come up against many important topics and integral information that
is an essential part in the criminal justice system. Some examples of this would be crime and justice
including the laws, criminal behavior, victimization, and the criminal justice system in itself. These
issues are everyday situations but many people have been oblivious to what s going on. They have
also been oblivious to the effect that it would have on the community itself. On the information given
up to this point this process essay will articulate the unenlightenment and egomaniacal principles of
the twelve men in the short story and movie Twelve Angry Men written by Reginald Rose and
directed by Sidney Lumet. Both Lumet and Rose showed their point of views of the criminal justice
system in the play and the movie. Although the director s view on the justice system was more on the
rights that everyone had, it still revealed his thoughts on how the justice system is corrupt, ineffective
and unjust because all these aspects have shown the major differences in the morality of the twelve
individuals and the problem at hand in the movie and play 12 Angry Men .
The movie 12 Angry Men denotes how climacteric facts and evidence can change the aftermath in a

The Transient Sublime and Mortality in “Ode to a Nightingale”

English Literature
The Transient Sublime and Mortality in Ode to a Nightingale
Composed during the most creative period in Keats s brief poetic career, Ode to a Nightingale has
long been regarded as one of the most refined works of his poetry. Previous criticism has
comprehensively explored its themes of nature, beauty and mortality, as well as its demonstration of
Keats s notion of Negative Capability. But based on my research, few critical reviews have touched
upon the point which I find clearly suggest itself in this poem: that the poet s experience here depicted
is not merely an escape into the realm of ideal beauty, but also an intoxication with the Romantic
sublime. Between the sublime and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But his pain stems not from grief, which we learn by surprise, but from an excess of happiness
occasioned by the bird s song which is too happy to be endured. This ambivalent mixture of pain and
pleasure is the characteristic mark of the sublime, which is further heightened by the sharp contrast
between the poet s painful numbness and the bird s god like rapture and freedom.
The poet then calls for wine, a beaker full of the warm South which may carry him into a state of the
sublime where identification with the nightingale and union with nature are accessible, in order to
escape the weariness, the fever, and the fret of human lives, where youth dies early and even love does
not last long. But then he changes his mind: he will fly to the nightingale not through the artificial
device of alcoholic intoxication ( Bacchus and his pards ), but through the agency of poetic
imagination ( the viewless wings of Poesy ).
For a moment the poet succeeds, exclaiming that he is already with thee . Imagination leads him into a
trance, where he loses consciousness while arriving at the climax of the sublime. In his most exalted
poetic vision, he beholds the holy lustre of the Queen Moon and her starry Fays in the tender night
sky. But soon common sense abruptly obtrudes, pulling the poet from up amid the stars down to the
earthly gloom where there is no light . As if

The Genetic Mutation Fragile X Syndrome Essay
The genetic mutation Fragile X syndrome is the most commonly inherited form of intellectual
disability. Because the disease was first studied in 1943 by British physician James Purdon Martin and
British human geneticist named Julia Bell, Fragile X is also referred to as Martin Bell syndrome.
Though it was not until 1969 that scientist Herbert Lubs discovered what exactly causes Fragile X
syndrome. He explained that those who obtain the mutation will possess an X chromosome with an
unusual gap. The gap located on the chromosome is called a fragile site, which is where the name
originates from. Fragile X is genetically passed down to offspring, so researchers are striving to
improve the symptoms in hopes that they can create a better future for the victims. Genetic mutations
are lifelong variances in DNA sequences. The majority of disease causing gene mutations are unusual
in the overall population. The two major classifications of gene mutations are germinal and somatic
mutations. Germinal mutations are immediately inherited from a parent, and they will affect every
single cell. If the DNA from the sperm or egg cell contains a mutation, the resulting fertilized egg also
inherits the mutation. Somatic mutations occur by environmental factors or when an error appears
during DNA replication. Unlike germinal mutations, a somatic mutation only affects the mutated cells.
Mutations typically have a negative connotation; however, they are not always harmful,

Coercive Interrogations And The Elicitation Of False...
COERCIVE INTERROGATIONS AND THE ELICITATION OF FALSE CONFESSIONS
The effectiveness of the coercive methods used in modern interrogation lack rigorous scientific
consideration and have been accepted without satisfactory scrutiny. Previous studies on alternative
methods of interrogation are underdeveloped and sparse, as scope exists to reform current practices to
ensure that interrogation processes (are) ecologically valid and focused on the correct processes. This
essay posits that the accusatorial Reid Model of interrogation is ineffective insofar as it employs
coercive practices that have been empirically proven to elicit false confessions. The problematic Reid
Model is juxtaposed against an alternative non coercive information gathering approach to highlight
the superiority of this method in its ability to elicit true confessions. This essay emphasises the
challenge for future research to continue to deconstruct the validity of coercive techniques to
encourage reform that promotes more effective non coercive methods.
In examining the foremost interrogation methods used, this essay will utilise the distinction drawn by
Meissner et al between information gathering and accusatorial approaches as a means to highlight
coercive practices within interrogations. The accusatorial method uses psychological manipulation in
order to establish control of a suspect and achieve confession. This method is typified by the approach
of the United States through their use of the

Michael Jackson Tragic Hero Essay
Michael Jackson as a Tragic Hero Tragic heroes are pretty common characters throughout numerous
fiction novels, but they do, in fact, exist in real life. Take Michael Jackson, for instance. He can be
considered an example of a modern day tragic hero. Respect, talent, fame, this king of pop had it all.
He was very well liked, and was a role model for many. His career even kicked off at such a young
age when he and his brothers started their own band, The Jackson 5. These boys made an astonishing
effort to travel to various Children s Hospitals just to try to bring joy to the lives of very sick children.
Michael Jackson continued to prove very successful, even on his own. Throughout his career, he was a
constant supporter of many different charities, such as the Make A Wish Foundation, the Ronald

Women s Suffrage Dbq Essay
After the Civil War, the movement of women s suffrage had a new inspiration, as they used African
American suffrage as a stepping stone towards women s suffrage. Organizations, such as the National

reform the urban areas with women s suffrage. As this empowering reform took place, women of the
late 19th and early 20th centuries started to question their own roles within society. As women faced

The groupthink trap is a good trap to explain a time when I was trapped in the decision making
process. The groupthink trap is when majority of the group supports an idea and you do not speak up
even though you do not agree with the idea (LaForce, 2014). You either are not confident enough to
think you are right, or you do not want to cause a disagreement or conflict (LaForce, 2014). My
example: I was in a meeting with people who are a much higher up then me and two of those people I
do not feel confident around. Actually, one of those people I consider a bully. The team was trying to
come up with a solution to a problem. I can see that not everyone agrees with the decision but yet,
they are not speaking up. I too did not want to speak up, because I did not want to cause conflict with
the two people I mentioned above. I could see the problem was not well defined, and it did not appear
the decision made was not the accurate solution for the real problem. In this case, I did not speak up,
but since that meeting I have realized that I was right to speak up. Unfortunately, at that time, I lacked
the confidents to speak up, but now I do. When I see others wanting to speak up, or are confused, not
on the same page, etc., I make a point to say something. In the end, there are times I caused conflict,
but I allow our customers to feel more conformable and I know what I did was right, and that conflict
was worth it. I have since learned when to pick my battles, when to take things off line, how to

The United States And Wyoming Economy Essay
The crackling and popping of the large redwood finally falling was a sweet noise to my grandpa Ray s
tired arms. He stood back and watched with satisfaction as the tree began to fall away from him, but as
it fell the large tree hit the branch of another tree and instead of knocking over the other tree or
breaking the branch, this large tree was heading straight for him. He saw this and stepped back to
move out of the way and fell over a stump. He cried out in agony as the log fell onto his leg. The
happenings in the U.S. and Wyoming economy in the 90s and the conditions my grandmother, Cindy

According to Dr. Alina Costin, family is the fundamental unit of society and today it is used with a
wide variety of meanings (2014). In 2007, single parent families make up thirty two percent of the

higher, the number of children living in single parent families has increased (Benokraitis, 2012). The
number of never married people has gone up form four percent in 1960 to forty three percent in 2010

Single father families make up a small proportion of all single parent families (Coles, 2015). Children
living in these families often exhibit more behavior and academic problems than children who live
with single mother families (Pong, Dronkers, and Hampden Thomas,2015). Despite these findings, the
number of single father households has increased about nine fold since 1960, from less than 300,000
to more than 2.6 million in 2011(Coles, 2015). Women will more likely attend to primary and daily
parenting tasks, such as feeding, dressing, and emotional nurturance of children, whereas men will
attend to play activities and financial provision (Coles, 2015). Another study also found that single
mothers and fathers displayed similar rates of participation, with single mothers less involved than
married mothers and single fathers more involved than married fathers (Nord et al., 1997). According
to Coles, living in a single mother family increases the risk for delinquency (2015). This is likely due
not to the mothers lack of parenting ability but rather the need to support their family financially
(Rodgers and Rose, 2001) The most popular explanation centers on a resource deprivation argument
single mothers have fewer resources (e.g., income, time, energy), thus leading to diminished social
control and socialization (Coles, 2015). Single fathers tend to be better off in terms of income and
social support than single mothers (Coles, 2015). They

What does greed in 1930 s China have in common with greed in today s 2018 society, and what is
different?
The characteristic greed in The Good Earth plays a big role in Wang Lung s life. Wang Lung s uncle is
the perfect example of greed because he is always asking for more. He goes as far as to join The Red
Beards, a well known band of robbers, to gain wealth. Another person with a lot of greed in The Good
Earth is Lotus. Lotus is very greedy because she is always asking for money to spend on luxuries.
Another example is Wang Lung himself. Wang Lung never fully acknowledges the fact that Olan is
primarily responsible for his wealth because she stole the jewels from the rich people in the south.
One final example is the gateman at the House of Hwang in the beginning of the book. He takes
advantage of Wang Lung and takes money from him for an entrance fee that didn t exist. Also, the
gateman joined the Red Beards when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In today s day and age sales workers are taught to lie and cheat to get a good price. Also studies show,
greed is closely related to envy, they re the evil step sisters of life. That same study shows, almost
everyone in today s society show traces of greed. Greed has an impact of destruction of relationships,

companies have a goal to rip you off, to make the maximum amount of money

Critical Review Skene
According to Skene, A, a critical review is much more than a simple summary; it is an analysis and

would be discovered through the analysis in this review by concentrating on the specific role and

Introduction:
The definition of the Art Director is well described by Shorter, G (2012, p 7), where she highlights
that the title encompasses the concept, design, creation and arrangement of all visual elements in a
screen narrative and ensures that all conceptual ideas run consistently and coherently throughout the
story.
As regards to the role I was taken, my original title in the film was the Art Director. However, due to
the lack of people applied for the Costume Designer, Prop Manager and Production Designer roles, I
was responsible to take care of the actions required from each of these roles. My personal experience
would cover all these roles, mainly concentrating on my main title as the Art

In India the main religion is Hinduism and Hinduism is influenced by the nature around the country. Christopher G. Framarin proposed his theory on how nature influences India in his journal, The value of nature in India (Hindu) traditions. Framarin explains his ideas on how to achieve moksa and what animals have effect on the moksa cycle. He also places other philosophers ideas into his journal and thoroughly explains the ideas in detail and how he feels about them. The traditions of Hindusim that are influenced by nature has an effect on everything they believe in. Ahimsa is doing good deeds or non harm to anything in this world. Through ahimsa Hindu people can achieve moska. However, there are more rules than just being nice to work through the caste system in Hinduism. Even though ahimsa is non harmful there are many strict ideas on what exactly is harmful. Himsa can postpone moska, himsa is the deed of doing harm or injury to another being. In the caste system the way someone can rise up the top and become a divine is for him or her to perform ahimsa deeds and through each reincarnation to step up in the caste. The Hindu s use a form of measurement when figuring out if the move up or down in the system. Every ahima deed someone does it produces a merit and for every himsa deed it produces a demerit. If so many merits are achieved moksa will be complete, however if a demerit is taken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Zamon Dor was the land of inventions and innovations; there was nothing its tinkerers could not think up, nothing its architects could not build. Clockwork and its mechanisms made the city what it was; they offered all sorts of comforts that other nations could only dream of. The city itself was alive with the hustle and bustle of daily life: men could be heard talking, women laughing, and children playing, all set to the sound of a soft mechanical whirring as Zamon Dors inventions were alive in all aspects of life. I had to adjust the size of some icons, text, and move buttons around. In many cases I submitted multiple different possible layouts for the changed pages so that our UI team could pick the option that looked best. Wiki Pages Created a wiki page for new hires and interns on our team to show them how to use the GIT repo our team had. • 7. Parking Spaces At The New Livermore Bart Station Parking Statistics Introduction A parking structure is being built for the new Livermore BART station. The Livermore Department of Transportation would like to provide as many parking spaces as possible in the parking structure. This study will determine an ideal parking space size in order to maximize the amount of available spaces while still accommodating an appropriate range of car sizes. Methods We located a sample pool of automobiles that accurately reflected the socio economic demographic of the Livermore area to determine the type of cars owned in the community. From this sample we determined the range in car sizes that would be parking in the new parking structure. We measured a sample of the automobile s lengths and widths to determine the mean and deviation of the vehicles the new parking structure would need to accommodate. We determined the seven parking lots of Las Positas College was an accurate and large enough representation of the demographic that would be utilizing the Livermore BART station parking structure. Different student demographics use different parking lots on campus. The trucks and bigger vehicles driven by the firefighting students, veterans and welding students parked in the lots closer to their buildings. For this reason, we found it necessary to take sample measurements from all seven parking lots at the Las Positas College campus so that we would have an accurate sample of the lifestyles reflected by car sizes that would be using the ... Appeasement Policy Essay Today, the Appeasement policy that Britain and France in the period of German aggression, was one of the main factors historians would consider to have caused the Second World War. Had the British or any of the Allied powers, intervened in Nazi expansionism, the war could have been prevented as early as 1936, when Germany violated the Treaty of Versailles with the occupation of the Rhineland. The Appeasement is seen as the act of cowardice and of poor judgement of the world powers. Britain, in particular, is in the spotlight. This also means that perhaps the lack of intervention to the British was not seen as an act of cowardice, but simply an act for convenience the idea that it is too much trouble to go to war. Besides the fact that Britain already had a lot on its plate, perhaps the primary reason why Britain did not get into conflict with Germany is because of the public consensus that they the people simply did not want to go to war. Britain did not stand up to the Nazis, because the British people did not want to stand up to the Nazis. Throughout Europe, not just in Britain, memories of the first world war was still very much present in people s minds. To people at the time, they were currently living through its direct consequences. The British public insisted that everything must be done so that war would not occur. Indeed, the policy of appeasement is evidence of that, on its own. But this can be seen most strikingly on September 15, 1938. Britain realized that Germany s attack on Czechoslovakia would lead to war with France and the Soviet Union, which also implies inevitable British involvement in the conflict. • 9. Analysis Of The Book A Good Story A good story, in my opinion, will have certain elements that keep a reader interested. Of course the most obvious of those is the story line itself. No one will continue to read if they are not intrigued by the plot. Secondly and equally important are the characters. Even if the story is captivating there is little interest in continuing on if the characters are not either incredibly likable or easily feared or hated. A strongly developed character will always keep a reader following along. In this particular instance its the monsters that makes the play. When it comes to the topic of monsters, most of us will readily agree that they are bad. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of what makes a monster. Although ... In order to show the importance of a reader response to a story, I will attempt to show how at least three characters in Shakespeare s The Tempest could have been perceived as the monster of the tale. Stephen T. Asma writes that good monster stories can transmit moral truths to us by showing us examples of dignity and depravity without preaching or proselytizing. (pg 64) Considering that people can live by very different morals, monsters can be seen in so many different forms. The Tempest is a perfect example of this. There are at least fifteen characters in the play and of those characters there are at least three that can be viewed as being a monster or at least possessing some monster like qualities. One of the most obvious choices as the monster of the play could be Antonio. He can be found to say Nobel Sebastian, thou lett st thy fortune sleep die, rather; wink st whiles thou art waking. • 17. The Pros And Cons Of Harry Harlow Harry Harlow, American psychologist, surrounded in controversy, drove psychologists bananas. He questioned whether children established relationships with their maternal figures because food, or if children established relationships based off of other factors. To test this theory, Harlow bred and studied the rhesus monkeys to determine what is the basis of a bond. Separating the children from their mother, Harlow introduced surrogate parents, the wire mother and the cloth mother. The wire mother was wooden and metal contraption with a bottle for food, while the cloth mother was swaddled in the same fabric that lined the children s cages. The results were overwhelming, with the monkeys preferring the cloth mother for the majority of the time. The monkeys would often only resort to the wire mother, when necessary and preferred the cloth mother in times of duress, confusion, and even for a sense of security. He concluded that children, regardless of species, formed bonds with their maternal figures because they give the child a sense of security/comfort, contrasting the behaviorist theory that children only established bonds due to their caretakers being their only food source. However, Harlow did not stop here, he continued his research and tested the effects of complete isolation. Differential Diagnoses And Physical Examination Differential Diagnoses and Physical Examination Differential diagnoses for the case study presented above include scarlet fever, measles, roseola, and Kawasaki disease (KD) (Glass, 2014). Scarlet fever presents within one to two days of the onset of symptoms from a group A streptococcal infection (Friedman, Scholes Yoon, 2014). The rash associated with scarlet fever is diffuse, fine, erythematous, and blanches with pressure (Friedman et al., 2014). Measles is associated with lethargy, high fevers, Koplik spots, and a maculopapular rash that spreads from the face and trunk to the extremities (Levin, 2014). Typically, the fevers will resolve within two to three days after the rash appears (Levin, 2014). Roseola is characterized by drowsiness, high fevers, febrile seizures, irritability, otitis media, mild diarrhea, and respiratory distress (Glass, 2014). Kawasaki disease is associated with fevers that persist for at least five days, non exudative conjunctivitis, lesions or inflammation in the oral cavity, cervical lymphadenopathy, polymorphous exanthema, and extremity changes (Darst, Collins, Miyamoto, 2014). • 22. Ode To The West Wind Essay Theme : Inspiration in amp;#8220;Ode to the West Wind ; amp;#8220;When composition begins, inspiration is already on the decline ; P. B. Shelley Shelley deals with the theme of inspiration in much of his work. However it is particularly apparent in amp;#8216;Ode to the West Wind amp;#8217; where the wind is the source of his creativity. The cycles of death and rebirth are examined in an historical context with reference to The Bible. The word inspiration has several connotations that Shelley uses in this amp;#8216;Ode amp;#8217;. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coupled with the elusiveness of the wind to the human eye the effect is that the wind is an amp;#8220;uncontrollable ; power that cannot be contained. In the fifth stanza Shelley refers to amp;#8220;the incantation of this verse ;(l.65) this is of pagan origins and he is invoking the wind to work through him. As a magician the wind works it amp;#8217;s magic throughout nature and it knows no bounds as the earth, water and air all feel it amp;#8217;s power. The imagery associated with this suggests that Shelley expected his work to also spread over the universe, like the wind, and inspire others just as the wind was an inspiration to him. The amp;#8220;dead thoughts ; he refers to could be the words he has written down that die as soon as they are recorded. Although not the source of his inspiration others could read them and experience what he felt in that wood that skirts the Arno. In the tradition of the sublime this description acts as a denial of sense perception and it is associated with an object of pure thought an unknown power that animates all life. The wind is, therefore, seen as a spirit because of its lack of being. This spirit can only be known by it amp;#8217;s effects and we see those in the first stanza as amp;#8220;the leaves dead / Are driven amp;#8230; to their wintry bed ;(ll. 2,3,6). • 24. Gender And Gender Socialization Gender is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex (2017). Gender and the way we carry out gender have been linked to many different terms to try to create a better understanding of why we have or do gender accordingly to what was assigned at birth. Through the process of gender socialization, a plethora of social norms and expectations are bestowed upon all individuals as early as when an embryo s sex is determined. To further describe and understand the prevalence of gender and its socialization I spent a night and a day with my little cousins Leah age 5 (Female) and Landon age 4 (Male). They are a part of a biracial four family member household in which their dad works full time and is the sole earner of resources and their mom is in school and works a part time job. I believe the structure of their family is modeled as the typical American Family and as far as their family s classification in an economic class, they would be considered Upper Middle class. After taking their economic class into consideration I have realized that these children are and will be able to gain access to more resources associated with gender than their lower classed counter parts. The Criminal Justice System In 12 Angry Men By Reginald Rose During the time in class we have come up against many important topics and integral information that is an essential part in the criminal justice system. Some examples of this would be crime and justice including the laws, criminal behavior, victimization, and the criminal justice system in itself. These issues are everyday situations but many people have been oblivious to what s going on. They have also been oblivious to the effect that it would have on the community itself. On the information given up to this point this process essay will articulate the unenlightenment and egomaniacal principles of the twelve men in the short story and movie Twelve Angry Men written by Reginald Rose and directed by Sidney Lumet. Both Lumet and Rose showed their point of views of the criminal justice system in the play and the movie. Although the director s view on the justice system was more on the rights that everyone had, it still revealed his thoughts on how the justice system is corrupt, ineffective and unjust because all these aspects have shown the major differences in the morality of the twelve individuals and the problem at hand in the movie and play 12 Angry Men . The movie 12 Angry Men denotes how climacteric facts and evidence can change the aftermath in a brobdingnagian way if not processed thoroughly. The Transient Sublime and Mortality in “Ode to a Nightingale” 何梓涵 12010007 To Professor Hou Yiling English Literature The Transient Sublime and Mortality in Ode to a Nightingale Composed during the most creative period in Keats s brief poetic career, Ode to a Nightingale has long been regarded as one of the most refined works of his poetry. Previous criticism has comprehensively explored its themes of nature, beauty and mortality, as well as its demonstration of Keats s notion of Negative Capability. But based on my research, few critical reviews have touched upon the point which I find clearly suggest itself in this poem: that the poet s experience here depicted is not merely an escape into the realm of ideal beauty, but also an intoxication with the Romantic sublime. But his pain stems not from grief, which we learn by surprise, but from an excess of happiness occasioned by the bird s song which is too happy to be endured. This ambivalent mixture of pain and pleasure is the characteristic mark of the sublime, which is further heightened by the sharp contrast between the poet s painful numbness and the bird s god like rapture and freedom. The poet then calls for wine, a beaker full of the warm South which may carry him into a state of the sublime where identification with the nightingale and union with nature are accessible, in order to escape the weariness, the fever, and the fret of human lives, where youth dies early and even love does not last long. But then he changes his mind: he will fly to the nightingale not through the artificial device of alcoholic intoxication ( Bacchus and his pards ), but through the agency of poetic imagination ( the viewless wings of Poesy ). For a moment the poet succeeds, exclaiming that he is already with thee . Imagination leads him into a trance, where he loses consciousness while arriving at the climax of the sublime. In his most exalted poetic vision, he beholds the holy lustre of the Queen Moon and her starry Fays in the tender night sky. But soon common sense abruptly obtrudes, pulling the poet from up amid the stars down to the earthly gloom where there is no light . As if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Genetic Mutation Fragile X Syndrome Essay The genetic mutation Fragile X syndrome is the most commonly inherited form of intellectual disability. Because the disease was first studied in 1943 by British physician James Purdon Martin and British human geneticist named Julia Bell, Fragile X is also referred to as Martin Bell syndrome. Though it was not until 1969 that scientist Herbert Lubs discovered what exactly causes Fragile X syndrome. He explained that those who obtain the mutation will possess an X chromosome with an unusual gap. The gap located on the chromosome is called a fragile site, which is where the name originates from. Fragile X is genetically passed down to offspring, so researchers are striving to improve the symptoms in hopes that they can create a better future for the victims. Genetic mutations are lifelong variances in DNA sequences. The majority of disease causing gene mutations are unusual in the overall population. The two major classifications of gene mutations are germinal and somatic mutations. Germinal mutations are immediately inherited from a parent, and they will affect every single cell. If the DNA from the sperm or egg cell contains a mutation, the resulting fertilized egg also inherits the mutation. Somatic mutations occur by environmental factors or when an error appears during DNA replication. Unlike germinal mutations, a somatic mutation only affects the mutated cells. COERCIVE INTERROGATIONS AND THE ELICITATION OF FALSE CONFESSIONS The effectiveness of the coercive methods used in modern interrogation lack rigorous scientific consideration and have been accepted without satisfactory scrutiny. Previous studies on alternative methods of interrogation are underdeveloped and sparse, as scope exists to reform current practices to ensure that interrogation processes (are) ecologically valid and focused on the correct processes. This essay posits that the accusatorial Reid Model of interrogation is ineffective insofar as it employs coercive practices that have been empirically proven to elicit false confessions. The problematic Reid Model is juxtaposed against an alternative non coercive information gathering approach to highlight the superiority of this method in its ability to elicit true confessions. This essay emphasises the challenge for future research to continue to deconstruct the validity of coercive techniques to encourage reform that promotes more effective non coercive methods. In examining the foremost interrogation methods used, this essay will utilise the distinction drawn by Meissner et al between information gathering and accusatorial approaches as a means to highlight coercive practices within interrogations. The accusatorial method uses psychological manipulation in order to establish control of a suspect and achieve confession.
