Lesson description:

In this lesson, the students

 will be given a scenario where they need to promote a product for an occasion
( Hari Ray Puasa, Deepavali, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Birthday and
Valentines Day).

 Teacher shows samples of advertisements created by students from previous
batches

 Teacher demonstrates how to use the Windows Movie Maker to create their
video/electronic advertisement.

Classroom layout and grouping of students:

 Theory will be done in their classroom (Consumer Education Topics)

 The students will sit with their partner at the computer lab

 Using the 4Ps and advertising strategies learnt, students have to ensure that
their advertisement is impactful and persuasive

 They are not allowed to purchase pirated software but recommended the free
software that is available for download

 The student’s video is an evidence of the demonstration of their understanding

      Technology Components for this lesson: Handphone or digital cameras,
      computer, printer

   2. Web Site for this lesson: students do own research according to the
      scenario to find information about the festivals and pictures.

   3. Computer Software for this lesson: Windows Movie Maker, Microsoft office
      (PowerPoint and Words)

Student’s Present Level Of Performance And Knowledge:

 The have adequate theory knowledge to complete the task
 They must know how to record a video using a recording device and how to
transfer the data into a computer / save to thumb drive.
 They would have learnt the basics of using Windows Movie Maker during IT
lesson in Semester 1

Instructional Procedures:

   1. Motivation
 Advertisements are being aired everyday and students are motivated to create
their own advertisement on an item that they like.
 Since this year is the World Cup season, we showed the students a Pepsi
advertisement with Shakira (the voice for this year’s World Cup) and it is
something that is easy to relate.


   2. Activities

Lesson 1                    •   Advertisement Theory
                            •   Get students to do an impromptu advertisement
                                (Teacher brings a product and tells the students
                                who the target customers are)
                            •   Students brainstorm on the products and the
                                chosen occasion

Lesson 2                    •   Using Product Label Theory (award labels)
                            •   At Computer Lab, do research and create print
                                advertisement

Lesson 3           •   Knowing Your Rights and responsibilities Theory
                   •   At Computer Lab, use WMM to edit videos.


   3. Closure
 Students present their advertisement to their classmates
       Teacher recap topic while debriefing the students about the quality of their
      projects.

              • Other than just peer evaluation, students’ advertisement can be
                  uploaded onto GoogleApps and peers can give constructive
                  criticism on ways of improving it.
