This lesson teaches students how to create advertisements for various occasions using Windows Movie Maker. Students will be given a scenario and work in pairs at the computer lab to research products and create original video advertisements. The teacher will demonstrate the software and provide examples from past students. Students will learn advertising strategies to make their videos impactful and persuasive. Their work will be assessed on research, design, content, impact and persuasiveness.

They must know how to record a video using a recording device and how to
transfer the data into a computer / save to thumb drive.
They would have learnt the basics of using Windows Movie Maker during IT
lesson in Semester 1
Instructional Procedures:
1. Motivation
Advertisements are being aired everyday and students are motivated to create
their own advertisement on an item that they like.
Since this year is the World Cup season, we showed the students a Pepsi
advertisement with Shakira (the voice for this year’s World Cup) and it is
something that is easy to relate.
2. Activities
Lesson 1 • Advertisement Theory
• Get students to do an impromptu advertisement
(Teacher brings a product and tells the students
who the target customers are)
• Students brainstorm on the products and the
chosen occasion
Lesson 2 • Using Product Label Theory (award labels)
• At Computer Lab, do research and create print
advertisement
Lesson 3 • Knowing Your Rights and responsibilities Theory
• At Computer Lab, use WMM to edit videos.

4. Students present their advertisement to their classmates
Teacher recap topic while debriefing the students about the quality of their
projects.

• Other than just peer evaluation, students’ advertisement can be
uploaded onto GoogleApps and peers can give constructive
criticism on ways of improving it.
