She talks to a specialist, Dr. Mendez who has had to deal with many women who have been
raped and left pregnant. Since abortion is illegal in El Salvador it is difficult for Dr. Mendez to
turn away the women who were raped. Dr. Mendez stated that she was once threatened with jail
time because she wanted to help a woman whose emergency contraception did not work after
she was raped. She was told not to get involved or she would be put behind bars. The author tells
of another story which involves a 19 year old girl who gave birth outside the hospital. Her baby
did not survive so she was convicted of aggravated homicide. The punishment is a 30 year prison
sentence. It is sad to think that a doctor trying to help a poor woman who is pregnant, not by

There should be a simple solution to the violence against women in El Salvador; if they all flee

They achieved amazing consistency by devoting more attention than anyone else to field service
and training at store level. Production was concentrated in huge plants devoted exclusively to
McDonald s. McDonald s also started with tiny suppliers and grew with them displaying great
loyalty.
Nowhere is the supplier loyalty more evident than in development of new, improved products.
Some of McDonald s classic food items like Filet o Fish, French Fries, Chicken Nuggets etc. are
results of supplier innovation. Thus supplier technological expertise had given McDonald s a
product which was not a mere marketing innovation but a technical one. McDonald s attempted to
squeeze labor out of the stores by moving more preparation back into the processing plant, creating
the opportunity to develop unique products based on suppliers processing skills. For the first time,
McDonald s suppliers became the focal point of new product development. This converted the fast
food industry s most fragmented distributed system into more efficient one which helped
McDonald s reduce its inventory and manage costs effectively.
In the case of McDonald s in Canada, they work closely with more than 100 Canadian leading
suppliers, striving to source products and supplies locally. Together, suppliers and the Company,

A Leadership Theory Based On Values And Teamwork
Moving an organization from stagnation in a new direction can be challenging. Leaders are often
faced with a variety of employee commitment they must navigate and everything becomes enhanced
when leadership is new. For leaders to lead a continuously changing organization they must
establish a foundational leadershiptheory based on values and teamwork that fit within the
organization and the leaders own skillset.
Foundational Theories
The leaders must understand how the world is changing in relation to the organization and how to
relate their desires for success to possible changes (Allen and Strathern, 2003). At times the first
intervention must be to shake leadership reality to the possible for change as leaders can get caught
in the routine of something that is working, success can build complacency. If leaders are satisfied
with the way things are there is no vision for the future and change that could be made to keep the
organization relevant may pass by.
An organization that know who they are and their values must uphold those values, making
decisions based on who they are as organization. The values of the organization guide the changes
that are made. If employees and the organization are working to achieve the same goal with the
same values then leaders should be able to allow employees opportunity to engage in change (Ford,
2006). If leadership trusts its employees they then can invite them into the change process as both
