Colonial Literature Summary
Colonial Literature began with the work of English adventurers and colonists in the New World
benefit the readers in the country. Some of these early works reached the level of literature, as in
the truthful account of his adventures by Captain John Smith and the journalistic histories of John
Winthrop and William Bradford in New England. From the beginning, however, the literature of
New England was also directed to the improvement and instruction of the colonists themselves,
intended to direct them in the ways of the gods. The first literature work was published in the
Puritan colonies, was the Bay Psalm Book, and the whole effort of the divines wrote furiously to
set forth their view. Among them was Roger Williams and Thomas Hooker; who was to defend
and promote visions of the religious state. They set forth their visions in effect the first express the
concept of national destiny in a series of passion histories. Then as time went forward, you had the
New Nation or New literature. And that was basically the approach of the American Revolution and
the achievement of the actual independence of the United Stateswas a time of intellectual activity as
well as social and the economic change. The men who were the chief molders of the new state
included excellent writers, such as Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. They were well
supported by others such as Philip Freneau, who was the first American lyric poet of distinction and
an able journalist; the pamphleteer Thomas

Analysis Of The Book Witches The Absolutely True Tale Of...
In the book Witches! The Absolutely True Tale of Disaster in Salem by Rosalyn Schanzer the
town of Salem starting going into a panic of the theory of witches from the fits of two girls.
Everyone accusing each other, family is accusing family. Brothers are accusing brothers.
Accused witches are taken to trial, but are the trials that fair? The trials were unfair because of
the use of spectral evidence, the inability to testify for oneself, and the surprisingly unbiased
judges. Even though it was a courtroom, spectral evidence was used in many ways. Spectral
evidence is when a witness is saying that somebody s spector or spirit appeared to them in a
dream and they are using it to testify against whoever is on trial. When the accusers were having
fits and screaming and thrashing in odd ways, the courtroom did not tell them to quiet down,
they instead believed that the accused witch in the room was guilty, it was a horrid sight.
(According to the Salem Witch Trials DBQ) Document 6 The examination of Bridget Bishop,
when she moved her head all of the afflicted moved their head, then she turned up her eyes and
the afflicted turned up their eyes. When the accused witch looked or moved a muscle, the
accusers magically moved the same muscle. According to Joan Holub s What Were the Salem
Witch Trials? The girl accusers tumbled to the floor if Bridget happened to look their way, as if
her invisible specter had knocked them down. (Holub 61). Even though the accused witches plead

Components Of The Environment
Initial Requirements
Functional
The hardware component will be a sensor created by Phidget that will obtain data on temperature
and humidity. The estimated cost of our hardware is $120 dollars before shipping and taxes.
The first software component must obtain data from our hardware component, and transmit that
data to ThingWorx. This component will be written in Java.
ThingWorx must be able to convert the temperatures from degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit.
Fahrenheit is the common measurement of temperature in the United States so it will be used in
our program.
ThingWorx will prompt the user for an email, phone number, or both. This will be used for the next
step.
The user will be able to set a high and low temperature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This program s primary focus is to create an environment that will help greenhouses strive not just
retrieve the temperature and the humidity.
The admin user must be able to add/remove users from the program. The program is run not only
by the sensor, but also by those who manage it. Comments and updates are crucial to the success of
the system, meaning adding new users must be available to the admin user.
There will be three levels of users: the admin, the senior employee, and the junior employee. The
admin will be able to change the high and low temperatures, add and remove users, add, edit, and
remove bins and individual plants, add and update, plant information, and receive texts and
emails. The Senior employee will be able to add, edit, and remove bins, and edit plant
information. Junior employees will only be able to edit bins and plant information. Only the
administrator can add and remove users. o The ability to log in as different users is crucial to the
many of the secondary features within the program. For example, commenting on the greenhouses
bins will require the comment as well as the user who wrote it. There are also some features that
may be blocked to specific users. o This may create a problem due to the way ThingWorx handles
multiple users editing the same data at the same time. There is no known way to fix this issue.

Departments,
secretaries,
Students,
Organizations,
Announcements and quotas.
Where students and secretaries are the user types. Mainly the secretary places a main role in

the deadline. Moreover, all events will be logged keeping in mind the prevention of data loss and
keep the system safe. Additionally the system must be effectively backed up. The system can be
implementing with utilizing data structures, for example, files, however by utilizing database for
managing data; it will be substantially more sensible and effective. It is clear that the preferences
of relational database idea have demonstrated, so we chose to plan our system by utilizing a
relational database. As opposed to implement our own database, utilizing a well known database

The First Round Of Racing
AFTER THE first round of racing was completed, after the sun had set on the first day of the
festival, Rubio, Julia, Aurelius Falco and Alfidia and her two daughters, retired to the Domus
Aurelia. Rubio was rather weary from his injuries and wished only for his bed and concrete
cubicle. But Julia was having none of that. She prepared one of the villa s many spare bedrooms
and had Rubio brought in, so she could watch over him and care for him personally. He was
bruised and body sore but would recover in a few days, so said the Lageum s head surgeon. And
once he was comfortably situated, Falco brought in the stable medicus, and he too gave a favorable
diagnosis; Rubio would be up and running in few days time, and well enough to participate... Show

So, the letters were tempered with legal propriety and probity, just as they d always been
written. When he finished, he rolled them up and franked them with his personal wax seal, then
had them delivered, posthaste, by a special night courier. After that, he summoned Titus Buccio.
It was time for a late night confab. Come hither, Buccio, Falco said, motioning to the empty chair
in front of his large desk. Take a chair, will you? Many thanks, Dominus, Buccio replied, sitting
down in the chair offered. I got your summons and I came right over. And I thank you for prompt
response, Buccio. Falco poured Buccio a cup of wine and slid it across his desk. Have some
wine? Buccio took up the cup of wine and took a little drink. Mmm... excellent wine this, he
remarked, sighing pleasurably, suitably pleased. Falernian, is it? It is. Falco nodded. Buccio
reclined more comfortably, crossing his legs. I m surprised you called me in so late, Dominus.
This is quite unprecedented. Must be important, eh? Yes, quite important. Falco clasped his
hands in his lap and leaned back in his chair. I bid you, Buccio... he began. What make you of
today s calamity, hmm? Any observations as to why Rubio wrecked and so soon after starting?
What say you, my man? Alas, Dominus, Buccio replied, a grim look on his pudgy face. Young

Importance of Slavery to the Caribbean Essay
Importance of Slavery to the Caribbean
The significance of the role played by slaves in the history of the Caribbean cannot be
overemphasized. Nearly everything that defines the Caribbean today can be traced back to the
advent of Africans to the sugar plantations several centuries ago. For this reason it is impossible to
ignore the issue of slavery when studying the history of the Caribbean, as we are doing in this class.
Through our numerous readings on the status of slaves and their treatment by the societies in
which they lived, we have learned much about the sufferings and ordeals of these people. The
following is an attempt to organize my own particular feelings and reactions, which I have

They were constantly being tested and lived very tough lives. Only the strongest survived, as
they were forced to live completely independently of colonial communities and thus had to fend
for themselves. They were also hampered by their lack of women in the early stages, and it was
not uncommon for a group of Maroons to raid another village in search of more women. The
Buccaneers, on the other hand, did not have as many such problems, though they did not exactly
have it easy either. They were more or less social bandits and gained international fame for their
attacks on the Spanish and Spanish possessions. This was a huge help to the French and English,
who did not have the power to do this themselves but were subsequently better able to establish
colonies of their own in the New World. The main difference between the Buccaneers and the
Maroons is that while the former clung to the European culture and society with which they were
familiar, the latter attempted to create their own.
The transition to sugar plantations in Puerto Rico came a bit later, while Cuba experienced this
change a few years earlier. There are a few reasons why this is so, given that both islands were
closely ruled by Spain. One of the main reasons given is ...the rate of prior capital accumulation
and the attendant existence (or lack) of a capital reserve to invest in sugar once the demand arose.
(Beckles and Shepherd, 1991, p. 58) For Cuba, the capital reserve

Examples Of Object Oriented Analysis Design
Object Oriented Analysis Design (OOAD) Object Oriental Analysis Design is a hands on
approach used to model and create systems as a group of interacting objects. The term Object ,
describes a form of entity or thing of concern. Objects are typically modeled after real world
entities or concepts. For the business analyst, examples of objects may range from; invoice,
product, contract, etc. Objects usually contain attributes that can be set to specific values. With
Object Oriented Approach to system design, it tries to lessen the impact of problems by
combining related data and functions into the same module. Objects In the real world can be
characterized by two things; data and behavior. For example, a television is an object and
possess data in the sense that it is tuned to a particular channel, the scan rate is set to a certain
value, the contrast and brightness is a particular value and so on. The television object can also do
things. The television can switch on and off, the channel can be changed, and so on. Below is a
graphical representation of a single object and its characteristics:... Show more content on

During the object oriented analysis (OOA) phase object modeling techniques are used to analyze
the functional requirements for a system and create models which reflect the logical design of the
system. During the object oriented design (OOD) phase of the system, models are elaborated upon
to include implementation specific details that show how the physical design of the system will
come together. OOA focuses on what the system does (its static structure and behavior), OOD on
how the system does it (its run time implementation).

Green Jacket Research Paper
The Difference of One A green jacket is being worked for in one of the most famous Professional
Golf Association (PGA) tournament introduced in 1934, at Augusta National Golf Club in
Augusta, Georgia and titled, The Masters. Generally, in a tie, it only took one playoff hole for a
winner to be decided, until Angel Cabrera and Adam Scott faced each other on April 14, 2013.
After a grueling ten hours of watching PGA golfers play to their best ability in rainy weather as if
a monsoon was going to hit from the Atlantic coast, a winner to receive the infamous $250,
Cincinnati made, forest green jacket was hoped for. However, a winner was not yet decided. On
hole 72 of a 72 hole tournament, Scott approached the lovely manicured green leaving himself a

Now it was time for hole 10 at Augusta to be played. With even more nagging nerves, Scott and
Cabrera teed off on Camellia, the 495 yard par four that starts the back nine. It seemed like miles
to the hole, until each drove their ball in the freshly moist fairway leaving them both spectacular
angles of approach. For both players, the baffling bunkers were in play on the right side of the
green, but that had no effect of intimidation since these players were as confident as a cheetah
stalking its crippled prey. Cabrera was the first to putt on the green, giving Scott more time to plan
his attack. With caddie help, Cabrera knew what must happen for him to win. Grabbing his trusty
putter, he stroked the ball with just enough force to cause it to travel the correct distance, but his
aim was off by less than a piece of hair leading to a missed putt. Scott, in a win tie situation,
decided to be mentally strong and clutched his slippery putter. Once more, the ping of the contact

Descartes First Meditation Analysis
Descartes First Two Meditations In the first meditation Descartes starts off by talking about how
when he was young he realized many of the basic facts of life and knowledge that he accepted as
being true, were actually false all along. Descartes chooses to wait and not try to solve the issue
of figuring out what is true and what is false when he is young, as he believes that this is too
much of a task for a young man and waits until he is a mature age. Descartes decides to finally sit
down and think about what is true and what is false much later in his life than what he would
have wanted originally but he decided to go straight to the root of his problems. The way that
Descartes decides that he is going to cut down on the amount of opinions that he needs to prove
that are false, he goes for the basic principles that would allow many... Show more content on

The issue is that while you are asleep in your dreams you think that you are awake, so how could
we know if you are actually awake or sleep at any given point in time. Descartes then talks about
how the creatures and people that you dream about have to exist because they all use common
things like shape, size, time and quantity. For this to be true in both the dream world and reality
then there cannot be any doubt. He goes on to mention how we can not trust anything that has to
do with the study of composite things, like physics, astronomy or medicine. We can trust the
studies of simple things like arithmetic and geometry, because even in the dream world two
plus two equals four, and triangles have three sides. In the end of the first meditation Descartes
starts to talk about how could such a pure being like God allow for these things to exist on Earth,
but at the same time let him falsely believe in all of the creations on earth. God being too perfect
of a being to allow this to happen to his creations, Descartes goes on to think that it could possibly
be a mad man or some type of evil demon is

Declaration of Sentiments by Elizabeth Cady
Over the course of many years, women have struggled to expand their roles and rights in society,
hoping to one day achieve complete equality with their male counterparts. Two women, Elizabeth
Cady Stanton and Judy (Syfers) Brady, both recognized the patriarchal society in which women had
to endure. They despised the way it heaped inequality and servitude upon women, and decided to
assert their opinion on the issue in order to change the perceptions and imposed limitations on
women. In Stanton s speech, Declaration of Sentiments, and in Brady s article, I Want a Wife , both
women attempt to convince their audiences that females deserve complete equality with men by
stating the submissive situations and obligations women find themselves immersed in. This is done
to get their female audiences to reevaluate how they have been treated and give them a second
chance at attaining equality. Both women employ various rhetorical techniques in their arguments
to strengthen, as well as compel other women to oppose the domesticated image of women.
Elizabeth Cady Stantonand Judy (Syfers) Brady expressed their views in pursuance of forging a
path to a revamped lifestyle for women. In Judy (Syfers) Brady s article, I Want a Wife , she
expresses her opinions in a satirical commentary that offers hypothetical criteria for an ideal wife,
with an underlying message that deals with how people should be grateful for all of the deeds and
chores that women do. Brady utilizes the strategy of

Earth from Space
As beautiful as the earth is from the ground it is even more stunning from international space
stations. There are approximately 120 artificial satellites in space starting at a distance of 100 to
25,000 miles from the ground. There are many different types of Artificial Satellites, each with a
distinct job. Some Artificial Satellites help predict the weather, while others gather information
about the universe for organizations like NASA. Satellites can see things far beyond human vision;
they transform things invisible to the naked eye into visible images.
These transformed images show how the sunlight, moisture, land and atmosphere react together to
make life on earth possible. These insights help scientists relate between the planet and it s life.
So, what exactly makes life? What are the essential components, which make life possible on this
planet? Why do sand storms in the Sahara affect the amazon rain forest 5000 miles away? The
video Earth from Space helps us understand the effects of forces on this planet.
It starts with the Sun, at a distance of 93 million miles away from the earth; it warms every inch
on the surface. One of the newer satellites by NASA called Suomi National Polar orbiting which
was launched in 2011, orbits 500 miles away from ground. It enables us to see more substances.
For instance, the spectrum is as long as the distance from New York to Los Angeles. In

Comparing Family Guy And The Simpsons
Family Guy and The Simpsons have differences in comedic style and family friends and
similarities in family personalities .
To begin off with, Family Guy and The Simpsons have differences in comedic style. Family Guy
uses humor that has to be taken lightly, Family Guy overuses a joke until it dies and Family Guy
takes a joke from zero to hundred in about six seconds. The Simpsons use humor that is funny, but
doesn t kill your braincells. For instance, in Family Guy there was an episode mocking terrorism
after terrorist threats. The Simpsons wouldn t touch the topic of terrorism until several year
later at least. The Simpsons does not overuse a joke until it dies. For example in Family Guy if a
joke is made about a song they play the whole song. In The Simpsons they will parody a song for
a few seconds. In The Simpsons it doesn t go from zero to a hundred in six seconds. For example
Family Guy had a rating of TV 14 on its airdate with some episodes being TV MA. The Simpsons
is usually for everyone until recently that it has being getting more edgy with TV 14 ratings. ...

Essay On Presidential Democracy Vs Parliamentary Democracy
Topic: A presidential democracy is more likely to produce strong, effective government than a
parliamentary democracy.
Introduction
The structure of a governments and party systems are of crucial importance for the functioning and
well stable effective government. In this case let s take example of United States and United
Kingdom.
Presidential system of United States;
The United State presidential system is a system of government that features a president as the
nation head of state and active chief executive authority. It is associated with the congressional
system of government. In a presidential system, the central principle is that the legislative and
executive branches of government should be separated.
This lead to the separate election by the electorate or an electoral college of the president, who is
elected to office for a fixed term of office, and can only be remove in extreme cases for gross
misdemeanor by impeachment and dismissal. In addition he or she does not need to choose cabinet
members from or commanding the support of a legislative majority.
As with the president set term of office, the legislature also exists for a set term of office and
cannot be dissolve a head schedule. In the president system, the president usually has special
privileges in the enactment of legislation, namely the possession of a power of veto over
legislation of bills, in some cases subject to the power of the legislature by weighed majority to
override the veto.

the general population mathematics appears to be to be strictly rational, abstract, cold and soulless.
Music, however, is involved with emotion, with feelings, and with life. It exists in all daily
routines. Everyone has sung a song, pressed a key on a piano, or blown into a flute, and therefore,
in some sense, made music. People can easily interact with it. Music is a way of expression and a
part of everyone s existence. The incentive for investigating the connections between these two
apparent opposites therefore is in the least... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This proportion can not only be found in geometric forms (for example the length of a diagonal
related to the length of an edge in a regular pentagon), but also in nature (for example the length of
the trunk in relation to the diameter of some particular trees, such as the
Norway spruce). Due to its consideration as well balanced, beautiful and dynamic, the golden
section has found various applications in the arts, especially in painting and photography, where
important elements often divide a picture s length or width (or both) following the golden
proportion. However, such a division is not necessarily undertaken consciously, but results from an
impression of beauty and harmony. Diverse studies have discovered that this same concept is also
very common in musical compositions. The golden section expressed by Fibonacci ratios is either
used to generate rhythmic changes or to develop a melody line Examples of deliberate
applications can be found in the widely used Schillinger System of Musical Composition or
concretely in the first movement of BГ©la BartГіk s piece Music for Strings, Percussion and
Celeste , where, for instance, the climax is situated at bar 55 of 89. Furthermore, Rothwell s study
has revealed examples of the golden proportion in various musical periods. While the characteristics
of the examined compositions varied greatly, the importance of

The Government Of India With The British Essay
There is a natural propensity to evaluate the Government of India with the British. But Indian
Parliament and parliamentary institutions and procedures are not a copy of the Westminster system.
There are fundamental differences between their system and Indian system. Democracy extends
way beyond elections. However, the holding of transparent, credible and accountable elections is
important for any democratic country and election observers make a significant contribution in this
process. In this essay, I will be heading a team of British officials who will be observing the
Parliamentary election process in Indiain May 2014. Being from Britain, we will witness a lot of
similarities between the political systems of India, however there will also be some differences,
like India being a federal republic and a parliamentary democracy at the same time while Britain
practices constitutional monarchy. Furthermore, India has a president and a prime minister,
whereas, although the head of state in Britain is in the form of a prime minister, it also has a
symbolic royalty head in the form of a ruling monarch. Generally the elections in India has been
quite peaceful, well organized but quite unpredictable at the same time, especially with the growing
influence of upcoming parties.
English Parliament has developed through somewhere in the range of three hundred years of
history. In Britain, it can be the main establishment which practices sovereign forces and on which

Theme Of Tragedy In Shakespeare s King Lear
Tragedy is one of the most common topics throughout literature. This theme can be found in many
works of literature spanning from Biblical archives to more recent works in Blockbuster movies,
and is commonly found in almost all societies today. The theme of tragedy is so universal that it is
found in many of Shakespeare s plays and poems (e.g. Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and plenty of
other works). In specific, tragedy is found in one of William Shakespeares most popular plays
named King Lear. King Lear was a tragedy that focused a lot on betrayal, however the play has
plenty more important elements that define the play. There of the most noteworthy aspects that
make up the play King Lear are: 1. The influence of many deaths in William... Show more content

The death of his son probably influence the play to be more orientated around relationships
between parent and child. In fact, Shakespeare wrote many plays (like Hamlet) around the time
that his son died, and they had much to do with family and relationships between parent/child.
Not only was the death of Shakespeare s son a huge event in his life (creating influence on the
play King Lear), but the death of his father and sister were also very important when it came to
playwriting King Lear. Child mortality was so common when Shakespeare was young that one
out of three children would die by the age of ten (Greenblatt). Shakespeare was only fourteen
when his seven year old sister, Anne, passed away due to probably disease (Greenblatt). Seeing
death among younger children was common and Shakespeare must have witnessed more
tragedies in his youth (Greenblatt). This event of his younger sister dying, like many other
children in Europe, must of had a profound effect of Shakespeare. The death of his younger sister
probably had some psychological effects on Shakespeare along with a possible desensitization of
death. It is predicted that William Shakespeare was influenced by his father s death. William s
father, John Shakespeare, was a leatherworker back in his day. John eventually moved up in socio
economic status and became a town bailiff(Folger Shakespeare Library).

Theory Analysis And Skill Training
1.Briefly explain the concept of paradigm.
A paradigm is defined as the fundamental way in which we think and define reality. It may
include values and beliefs that influence our decisions on what is real and what is not. It is how
we know the things we know. It is our own awareness of ourselves as observers and knowers and
may relate to how we think and act in certain situations. It is also how we process what is real and
how we present our knowings to others. In a paradigm no right or wrong answers are presented but
instead fundamental assumptions are used.
2.What is the dominant paradigm guiding practice and research in special education? Explain a few
key features of this paradigm.
The dominant paradigm is known as the Newtonian Mechanistic Paradigm and is often referred to
as the machine paradigm. This paradigm views animals and humans as machines. Simplicity is very
important and all complexity is often broken down and translated. Information is arranged logically
and sequentially. The theory includes task analysis and skill training and has a focus on quantity
instead of quality. It also ranks human behavior. This method does not value personal knowledge or
individuality. It does not focus on the process of learning or students motivation for learning.
3. Can you cite any professional examples of mechanistic practice that you ve encountered? (or if
you are currently teaching, you may describe what you do that may exemplify mechanistic practice)

Network Policy Server and Remote Access
The nature of our business requires us to have a flexible sales force. Because of that detail we
need to be receptive to the needs of our mobile workforce. The most critical tool involved in their
success is the ability to reliably connect and access our company networks. These connections can
be from employees using company issued laptops or personal computers used from home or on the
road.
For the most part we have addresses the needs of our sales force on a case by case basis but going

accomplish this there are a few benchmarks we need to achieve. First of all the network has to be

Statement of Health, System Statement of Health, and System Statement of Health Response
The Statement of Health or SoH is generated by each SHA and is communicated to the NAP to
determine compliance. Every time there is an update of change with a SHA possibly through
remediation the update is then also applied to the SoH. The NAP service will combine all of the
various SoH s that a client generated during a remote connection and combine them into the System

client computer. Lastly the System Statement of Health Response is generated by the NAP after
compiling all of the remote user s system health characteristics. This information or SSoHR is sent

The NAP system health characteristics give the server all of the essential health information to grant

The Gods Of The Inca Religion
Incas believed in many Gods such as Viracocha. Viracocha is one of the main Gods in the Inca
religion. Viracocha is the creator of everything. He created everything such as the sun, moon,
stars and the earth before he created living things such as humans and animals. When Viracocha
created human he gave them some rules which they disobeyed. He then became angry with the
people and cursed them all. Some were swallowed by the sea while the others were swallowed
by the earth. He then brought a flood named UГ±u Pachacuti that washed away all the humans.
After the flood, Viracocha saved 2 humans which he called upon whenever he needed help. He
then started creating human beings again. He painted some women pregnant while others
caring for their babies and on each figure he painted clothes so that they would continue to wear.
He also carved out the different tribes and nations that he wanted to exist later on. After painting
and carving, he then divided the stones up into separate groups and buried them to wait for their
command of summoning. Viracocha commanded his 2 helpers to go and wake up all the people
in the earth. Some were lying in the caves, streams, rivers and waterfall. He sent one of the
helper to the east region and the other to the west region. Their job was to basically wake up all
the people and inform them about the stories they have experienced. Viracocha then travelled to
Cuzco. On his way he woke up the people. The Canas people didn t recognize and started

How Does Agatha Christie Create Suspense
Agatha Christie wrote the murder mystery And Then There Were None. In this novel, a deranged
person plans and executes the deaths of ten people. These victims were invited as guests for a
weekend vacation to Indian Island in Britain. There, one by one, they are killed by the mysterious
U. N. Owen, who is posing as a guest and killing the others using methods derived from the nursery
rhyme Ten Little Indians. It is discovered that each guest had committed an indirect act of murder
that they could not be legally prosecuted for, and that the sadistic yet justice obsessed murderer was
trying to avenge the deaths of the guests victims. Christie builds suspense in the novel And Then
There Were None through punctuation, dialogue, and text features.... Show more content on

An example of this occurs just before it is discovered that Mrs. Rogers, the second victim, is
dead. At this time, Mr. Rogers, her husband, comes to Dr. Armstrong s room, frightened. Mr.
Rogers exclaims, Doctor doctor! . . . It s the wife, doctor. I can t get her to wake. My God! I can
t get her to wake. And and she don t look right to me (Christie 83). This dialogue builds suspense
because one person has already died in the story, so the reader is meant to feel worried that
another has died. Such worry easily translates to suspense in a mystery novel. In this case, it is
because of the previously occurring death and the fear of another that is rooted in the reader s
mind, which helps to bring about uncertainty and anxiety. Naturally, this creates a mood change in
the reader. Prior to Rogers s frightened exclamation, a murderous dream of the doctor s is being
recounted. There, the mood is scared and confused, as the doctor seems to not be mentally sound
during the dream. The sudden appearance of Rogers shifts the mood to a more tense and anxious
fear, one that is characteristic of a possible abrupt death. Hence, dialogue is an important tool used
to build suspense in the

Medicinal Effects Of Mushrooms And Their Metabolites Essay
Mushrooms were known and consumed as food in ceremonies as far back as prehistoric times.
Throughout the history, mushrooms were used in different cultures for their medicinal and tonic
properties (Gunde Cimerman, 1999). The longest tradition of using edible mushrooms for
medicinal purposes is in China. Mushrooms represent a major and as yet largely untapped source of
powerful new pharmaceutical products. The most significant medicinal effect of mushrooms and
their metabolites that attracted the attention of the public in the recent years is their antitumour
property. Many pharmaceutical substances with potent and unique properties were isolated from
mushrooms and distributed worldwide. Many of them are not strictly pharmaceutical products but
represent the novel class of dietary supplements of approximately 10,000 known species of
mushrooms, 2000 are safe and 300 have significant pharmacological properties (Hobbs, 1995,
Miles and Chang, 1997). Mushrooms are nutritional functional food and as a source of
physiologically beneficial and nontoxic medicines. They have been reported to have significant
pharmacological effects or physiological properties such as bio regulation, maintenance of
homeostasis, regulation of biorhythm, cure of various diseases, and prevention and improvement of
life threatening diseases such as cancer, cerebral stroke and heart disease. They have been also

Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could
see this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a
poem about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to
symbolize an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title
may give the impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but
some words and phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind.
The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath
(Roethke, 1) already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to
remember this experience with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may
have been a drunk. He remembers his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major
role in the entire experience itself. The speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy
dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol on his breath was so strong it made him feel
lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been drinking heavily and the fact that it made
him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out for an occasional drink. However,
even though the boy felt sick he still held on to his father closely, But I hung on like death (3)
implying he was so scared all he could do was hang on to his father. His father s

Essay on Birches by Robert Frost
Birches I believe so much of poetry enlists the senses, beginning with the sense of sound.
Whether it s the rhythmic flow of the poem or the mere need to recite the words for a clearer
understanding. The sense of sight can t help but participate while one reads a poem. It s like
asking an artist to paint how he feels. Imagery is a key part of poetry creating a visual
understanding. In the end poetry give a voice to the unsayable in our lives and indeed to life itself.
After reading Birches by Robert Frost, my senses were reeling. The poem reads beautifully and is
soothing to the ear. The imagery also paints a scene I have witnessed many winter days, growing up

Frost then suggests that he had rather imagine a little boy causing the bending of the branches
by swinging and playing on them. He begins to tell a story within the poem. It is a story of a
little boy living in a rural territory, possibly a farm, going out to do his chores, like fetching the
cows, but gets side tracked by both the beauty of the woods and his wanting to play. Because the
little boy is in a secluded environment he is forced to entertain himself. He has become
accustomed to playing on his father s trees, one by one he would conquer them all. He has been
a frequent swinger of the birches and has taken the stiffness out of them and caused the branches
to bend. Frost goes on to say He learned all there was to learn about not launching out too soon
And so not carrying the tree away. The little boy knows exactly how far to bend the branches
without breaking them. Frost uses the image of filling a cup to the brim and even above the brim
to illustrate to the reader just how close the boy is to breaking the branches. We all have filled our
cups to the top and then had the challenge of carrying the cup without spilling the contents. Frost
again has used a simple comparison to make his point. I, like Frost, prefer the explanation of the

Sexual Connotation Of Dance And Music In Brazil
The article I choose is about sex in the media from Brazil, and the reason I decided to sheer the
reality from my country was my amazement about it. The magazine describe the music phrases in a
popular song that a lot kids in Brazil dancing and singing all the time. The combination words using
in the music had strong sexualityconnotation, which shocked people who do not used to it. For
example: Now, I m going to talk about your rights: your right to sit, your right to quit, the right to

A Research on Sexually Transmitted Diseases
A Research on Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) STDs are among the very significant and
preventable public health issues affecting the society and the globe at large today. In the
development stage of human beings, it is of significance that they involve themselves in sexual
activities. At this development stage, it is of note that adolescents mostly are at risk of
contracting STDs. This is in all cultures because sexual activity is highest during the adolescent
stage. This calls for early intervention to help them deal with this health problem. Educating the
adolescents to abstain, and use contraceptives in early sexual activities, are the most important
factors to deal with this issue (Oncel, Kulakac, Akcan, Eravsar Dedeoglu, 2011). Knowledge of
STDs does not have to influence the sexual behavior. Most adolescents are ignorant on how STDs
transmit. Lack of sexual information is the main cause of the increase in sexual activity among the
youth. Many male and female youth ignore the physiological and psychological development of
their bodies. This research aims to examine the sexual knowledge and behavior of adolescents
towards the subject matter, STDs, to determine some factors including age, sex, and family status
affecting the involvement of the respondents in sexual acts (Oncel et. al., 2011). Research work
reveals that the awareness of the adolescents about sexuality and STDs appears to be inadequate.
This mainly is because of the ignorance of health workers.

Analysis of an Affair in Anton ChekhovВґs The Lady with the...
Anna and Dmitri are two people with a strong desire to be together, but this is conflicted by
reality. Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love that they share for one
another represents the struggle that one may face wanting to break away from reality. Dmitri
was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his
only reasoning for this. Dmitri was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an
affair with. Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the story
as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He referred to women as an
inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other hand, was new to the idea of being
unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she
convinced herself that it was not real lovethat they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and
Dmitri changed the way they felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial
relationship with his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more.
Once he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and light.
The more exciting his life became in Yalta with Anna, the more dull and uninteresting his life back
home became. His thoughts portray to the reader that he believes Anna is the perfect contender for
an affair. The author of the story, Chekov,

A Clinical Syndrome
Introduction
Sepsis is a clinical syndrome that arises from inflammatory response to infection. The response
from the host is associated with immune, hormonal, metabolic, bioenergetic and autonomic nervous
system modification. This is associated with an overall catabolic state, excessive adrenergic
stimulation, high catecholamine levels and myocardial depression. This effects are mainly
mediated via cathecholaminergic action and cytokine production (1). ОІ blockers modulate both
these pathways. There are several studies that have shown the benefits of ОІ blockers in sepsis.

Dr. Cook attempts to prove a link between the late Victorian visual forms and the new vision
(including Modernist art) that Manovich observed in the early half of the twentieth century. In his
work, Lev Manovich traces the relationship from new vision to the computer and new media,
claiming a direct connection between the two. Although it is ... Show more content on

However, the science of psychology had a very slow start and growth. In the nineteenth century,
psychology went through a fledging stage in which it attempted to ground itself in different
sciences, such as biology, physics, and philosophy (2). It was this initial experimentation with
psychology that led to the works produced in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century
observed by Cook and Manovich. However, it was the growth of psychology departments in
universities and colleges that led to the visual forms used in the new media. Upon further
examination of psychology and the three visual forms, the importance of psychology in these fields
will become evident.
The late Victorian construction of the machineryof information organization included the works
of men like Lewis Carroll and John Venn, who attempted to create visual representations of
arguments, usually on the topic of logic. The link between these two men and psychology can
be easily observed upon examination of Mind, a quarterly publication that was established in
1876. In the first issue of Mind, George Robertson, the editor of the periodical and a Professor of
Philosophy of Mind and Logic in University College, London, states the purpose of the journal
will be an organ for the publication of original researches, and a critical record of the progress

Jackie Robinson Essays
Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson and integration are two phrases that cannot be segregated. Whether he liked it or
not, he played the star role in the integration of society during the time that he played Major
League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His heroic journey that landed him in the Majors
shows, amp;#8220;how integration has come to baseball and how it can be achieved in every
corner of the land ; (Robinson 16). But this amazing triumph over the Jim Crow laws could only
have been possible in New York as Robinson says, amp;#8220;Cooperstown, New York, and
Birmingham, Alabama, are both in the Unites States. In Cooperstown I had been the guest of honor
in the company of three other new Hall of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dodgers got their name from the electric streetcars in Brooklyn that were so dangerous that
people had to be skilled amp;#8220;dodgers ; of them in order not to get run over. Why was
Brooklyn the place that integration could occur? After World War Two, Brooklyn had
transformed from a white middle class population to a mix of blacks, Latinos and Jews.
amp;#8220;About half of Brooklyn amp;#8217;s population was Jewish; among the Dodger
faithful, Jews were probably far more ready than any other major group, such as the Irish or the
Italians, to identify with the fight against the Jim Crow embodied by Robinson ; (Rampersad 220
221). Obviously, the Jews related to the blacks amp;#8217; plight against society amp;#8217;s
belittlement of them and the similar discriminations they both faced. Many of the Robinson
amp;#8217;s friends were Jewish, perhaps because amp;#8220;the Robinsons found Jews far more
ready than other whites to accept them socially ; (Rampersad 221). Jackie Robinson was able to
live successfully in Brooklyn, and not only because he was a great athletic superstar but because
he had many friends and supporters that didn amp;#8217;t consider him an outsider. They let him
live amongst them, supported him, and befriended him and his family. Rachel Robinson (Jackie
amp;#8217;s wife) sums it up by saying that, amp;#8220;We didn amp;#8217;t think of them as
Jewish, unless we were dealing with a specific organization. They were simply

Persuasive Essay On Commercial Animal Testing
Controversial Topic: Commercial Animal Testing Do you have an animal at home? If yes, what
would you do if it were harmed in any way? A common answer to this question is, I would do
anything in my power to protect my pet. So, if thousands of Americans with pets would stand by
them in any situation, why do people still continue to buy commercial products that are tested on
animals? Commercial products are usually classified as skincare, hair care, and makeup. This is
not to say that only women have to worry about their products being tested on, because men s
products are also tested on. A common reason for companies testing on animals is the price; it is
much cheaper to test on animals than it is to get humanvolunteers to try out the products before they
are put on shelves. In addition to this, animals are treated very poorly during the animal... Show

I understand that we have to use animals to get nutrients such as protein, which is vital for
survival, but using animals to test products is unethical and often times they are treated very
poorly throughout their lives. Rabbits and mice are used for the Draize Eye Test which is the
process of ensuring a product is not going to be an irritant to the eyes. When scientists perform this
test, they clip the animals eyelids back and drip the product (shampoo) into the animals eyes. This
often causes ulcers, burning, and irritation. Another statement I have heard is animals do not
have feelings. Animals, such as dogs, have been scientifically proven to aid disabled Veteran s.
When a dog is hurt or when an animal is stepped on, or a service dog s owner passes away, they do
have reactions. If a dog is stepped on, it yelps. When a service dog s owner passes away, it goes

The Crisis Of Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Sudan, And Lebanon Essay
Many nations around the world refine oil. Based on the number of barrels refined during the first
three months of 2016, the countries that refined the most oil were: Russia (10.5 million BPD),
Saudi Arabia (10 million BPD), the United States (9.2 million BPD), Iraq (4.3 million BPD) and
China (4.1 million BPD). (CNNMoney, 2016)
Just as there are many oil producing states in the United States that do not have refineries, there
are entire nations that are impacted by having a lack of refineries. A few oil rich nations that are
negatively impacted by a lack of refineries include: Nigeria, Russia, Sudan, Cyprus, and Lebanon.
Nigeria is currently the largest oil producer in Africa and was the world s fourth largest exporter
of LNG in 2015. Nigeria s oil production is hampered by instability and supply disruptions, while
its natural gas sector is restricted by the lack of infrastructure to commercialize natural gas that is
currently flared (burned off). (British Petroleum, 2016) Nigeria is a member of OPEC. Although
Nigeria is the largest oil producer in Africa, its production is affected by unplanned outages; some
that have been estimated to have been up to 500,000 BPD. (U.S. Energy Information
Administration, 2016) Nigeria s petroleum industry is impacted by regulatory uncertainty,
corruption, mismanagement of oil subsidies, oil theft, sabotage, environmental damages, and piracy
in offshore West Africa.
Instability in the Niger Delta has resulted in significant amounts of

  • 3. Colonial Literature Summary Colonial Literature began with the work of English adventurers and colonists in the New World benefit the readers in the country. Some of these early works reached the level of literature, as in the truthful account of his adventures by Captain John Smith and the journalistic histories of John Winthrop and William Bradford in New England. From the beginning, however, the literature of New England was also directed to the improvement and instruction of the colonists themselves, intended to direct them in the ways of the gods. The first literature work was published in the Puritan colonies, was the Bay Psalm Book, and the whole effort of the divines wrote furiously to set forth their view. Everyone accusing each other, family is accusing family. Brothers are accusing brothers. Accused witches are taken to trial, but are the trials that fair? The trials were unfair because of the use of spectral evidence, the inability to testify for oneself, and the surprisingly unbiased judges. Even though it was a courtroom, spectral evidence was used in many ways. Spectral evidence is when a witness is saying that somebody s spector or spirit appeared to them in a dream and they are using it to testify against whoever is on trial. When the accusers were having fits and screaming and thrashing in odd ways, the courtroom did not tell them to quiet down, they instead believed that the accused witch in the room was guilty, it was a horrid sight. (According to the Salem Witch Trials DBQ) Document 6 The examination of Bridget Bishop, when she moved her head all of the afflicted moved their head, then she turned up her eyes and the afflicted turned up their eyes. When the accused witch looked or moved a muscle, the accusers magically moved the same muscle. According to Joan Holub s What Were the Salem Witch Trials? The girl accusers tumbled to the floor if Bridget happened to look their way, as if her invisible specter had knocked them down. (Holub 61). Even though the accused witches plead ... They were constantly being tested and lived very tough lives. Only the strongest survived, as they were forced to live completely independently of colonial communities and thus had to fend for themselves. They were also hampered by their lack of women in the early stages, and it was not uncommon for a group of Maroons to raid another village in search of more women. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, did not have as many such problems, though they did not exactly have it easy either. They were more or less social bandits and gained international fame for their attacks on the Spanish and Spanish possessions. This was a huge help to the French and English, who did not have the power to do this themselves but were subsequently better able to establish colonies of their own in the New World. The main difference between the Buccaneers and the Maroons is that while the former clung to the European culture and society with which they were familiar, the latter attempted to create their own. The transition to sugar plantations in Puerto Rico came a bit later, while Cuba experienced this change a few years earlier. There are a few reasons why this is so, given that both islands were closely ruled by Spain. The term Object , describes a form of entity or thing of concern. Objects are typically modeled after real world entities or concepts. For the business analyst, examples of objects may range from; invoice, product, contract, etc. Objects usually contain attributes that can be set to specific values. With Object Oriented Approach to system design, it tries to lessen the impact of problems by combining related data and functions into the same module. Two women, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Judy (Syfers) Brady, both recognized the patriarchal society in which women had to endure. They despised the way it heaped inequality and servitude upon women, and decided to assert their opinion on the issue in order to change the perceptions and imposed limitations on women. In Stanton s speech, Declaration of Sentiments, and in Brady s article, I Want a Wife , both women attempt to convince their audiences that females deserve complete equality with men by stating the submissive situations and obligations women find themselves immersed in. In this case let s take example of United States and United Kingdom. Presidential system of United States; The United State presidential system is a system of government that features a president as the nation head of state and active chief executive authority. • 23. Theory Analysis And Skill Training 1.Briefly explain the concept of paradigm. A paradigm is defined as the fundamental way in which we think and define reality. It may include values and beliefs that influence our decisions on what is real and what is not. It is how we know the things we know. It is our own awareness of ourselves as observers and knowers and may relate to how we think and act in certain situations. It is also how we process what is real and how we present our knowings to others. In a paradigm no right or wrong answers are presented but instead fundamental assumptions are used. 2.What is the dominant paradigm guiding practice and research in special education? Explain a few key features of this paradigm. The dominant paradigm is known as the Newtonian Mechanistic Paradigm and is often referred to as the machine paradigm. This paradigm views animals and humans as machines. Simplicity is very important and all complexity is often broken down and translated. Information is arranged logically and sequentially. He created everything such as the sun, moon, stars and the earth before he created living things such as humans and animals. When Viracocha created human he gave them some rules which they disobeyed. He then became angry with the people and cursed them all. Some were swallowed by the sea while the others were swallowed by the earth. He then brought a flood named UГ±u Pachacuti that washed away all the humans. After the flood, Viracocha saved 2 humans which he called upon whenever he needed help. He then started creating human beings again. He painted some women pregnant while others caring for their babies and on each figure he painted clothes so that they would continue to wear. He also carved out the different tribes and nations that he wanted to exist later on. After painting and carving, he then divided the stones up into separate groups and buried them to wait for their command of summoning. Viracocha commanded his 2 helpers to go and wake up all the people in the earth. Some were lying in the caves, streams, rivers and waterfall. He sent one of the helper to the east region and the other to the west region. Their job was to basically wake up all the people and inform them about the stories they have experienced. • 26. How Does Agatha Christie Create Suspense Agatha Christie wrote the murder mystery And Then There Were None. In this novel, a deranged person plans and executes the deaths of ten people. These victims were invited as guests for a weekend vacation to Indian Island in Britain. There, one by one, they are killed by the mysterious U. N. Owen, who is posing as a guest and killing the others using methods derived from the nursery rhyme Ten Little Indians. It is discovered that each guest had committed an indirect act of murder that they could not be legally prosecuted for, and that the sadistic yet justice obsessed murderer was trying to avenge the deaths of the guests victims. An example of this occurs just before it is discovered that Mrs. Rogers, the second victim, is dead. At this time, Mr. Rogers, her husband, comes to Dr. Armstrong s room, frightened. Mr. Rogers exclaims, Doctor doctor! . . . It s the wife, doctor. I can t get her to wake. My God! I can t get her to wake. And and she don t look right to me (Christie 83). This dialogue builds suspense because one person has already died in the story, so the reader is meant to feel worried that another has died. Such worry easily translates to suspense in a mystery novel. In this case, it is because of the previously occurring death and the fear of another that is rooted in the reader s mind, which helps to bring about uncertainty and anxiety. Naturally, this creates a mood change in the reader. Prior to Rogers s frightened exclamation, a murderous dream of the doctor s is being recounted. There, the mood is scared and confused, as the doctor seems to not be mentally sound during the dream. The sudden appearance of Rogers shifts the mood to a more tense and anxious fear, one that is characteristic of a possible abrupt death. • 29. Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could see this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a poem about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to symbolize an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title may give the impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but some words and phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind. The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath (Roethke, 1) already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to remember this experience with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may have been a drunk. He remembers his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major role in the entire experience itself. The speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol on his breath was so strong it made him feel lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been drinking heavily and the fact that it made him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out for an occasional drink. However, even though the boy felt sick he still held on to his father closely, But I hung on like death (3) implying he was so scared all he could do was hang on to his father. His father s ... It is a story of a little boy living in a rural territory, possibly a farm, going out to do his chores, like fetching the cows, but gets side tracked by both the beauty of the woods and his wanting to play. Because the little boy is in a secluded environment he is forced to entertain himself. He has become accustomed to playing on his father s trees, one by one he would conquer them all. He has been a frequent swinger of the birches and has taken the stiffness out of them and caused the branches to bend. Frost goes on to say He learned all there was to learn about not launching out too soon And so not carrying the tree away. The little boy knows exactly how far to bend the branches without breaking them. Frost uses the image of filling a cup to the brim and even above the brim to illustrate to the reader just how close the boy is to breaking the branches. • 37. A Research on Sexually Transmitted Diseases A Research on Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) STDs are among the very significant and preventable public health issues affecting the society and the globe at large today. In the development stage of human beings, it is of significance that they involve themselves in sexual activities. At this development stage, it is of note that adolescents mostly are at risk of contracting STDs. This is in all cultures because sexual activity is highest during the adolescent stage. This calls for early intervention to help them deal with this health problem. Educating the adolescents to abstain, and use contraceptives in early sexual activities, are the most important factors to deal with this issue (Oncel, Kulakac, Akcan, Eravsar Dedeoglu, 2011). Knowledge of STDs does not have to influence the sexual behavior. Most adolescents are ignorant on how STDs transmit. Lack of sexual information is the main cause of the increase in sexual activity among the youth. Many male and female youth ignore the physiological and psychological development of their bodies. This research aims to examine the sexual knowledge and behavior of adolescents towards the subject matter, STDs, to determine some factors including age, sex, and family status affecting the involvement of the respondents in sexual acts (Oncel et. al., 2011). Research work reveals that the awareness of the adolescents about sexuality and STDs appears to be inadequate. This mainly is because of the ignorance of health workers. ... Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love that they share for one another represents the struggle that one may face wanting to break away from reality. Dmitri was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his only reasoning for this. Dmitri was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an affair with. Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the story as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He referred to women as an inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other hand, was new to the idea of being unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she convinced herself that it was not real lovethat they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and Dmitri changed the way they felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial relationship with his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more. Once he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and light.
