Human Rights Project 1.5 billion  people must get by on  less than $1 a day .  In South Asia,  half of all children under the age of 5 are malnourished .  Only a third of the people in sub-Saharan Africa are  likely to live past 40 .
What is the United Nations? Created on October 24, 1945.  The anniversary each year is “United Nations Day.” It’s purposes are… to maintain international peace and security;  to develop friendly relations among nations;  to cooperate in solving international economic, social, cultural and humanitarian problems and in promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms; and to be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in attaining these ends.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the General Assembly in 1948.  Since then, the United Nations has gradually expanded human rights law to encompass specific standards for  women,  children,  disabled persons,  minorities,  migrant workers  and other vulnerable groups, who now possess rights that protect them from discriminatory practices that had long been common in many societies.
Basic Fundamentals of the U.D.H.R. The right to life, liberty and the right of security of person.  The right to an education.  The right to employment, paid holidays, protection against unemployment, and social security.  The right to participate fully in cultural life.  Freedom from torture or cruel, inhumane treatment or punishment.  Freedom of thought, conscience and religion.  Freedom of expression and opinion.
