Feminism And The Contemporary Art
The contemporary art world is including and exposing more female artists who are promoting
themselves creatively and pushing for equality through art. This essay will examine the increase of
feminist art visibility and the way in which the audience views work through female perspectives; how
art is defined through alternative and non traditional media, and how fine art has created platforms and
spaces for discussion and widens views of feminism within feminist groups and how it can be
portrayed differently. In our contemporary age of art, female artists are stripping away the precedent
of the male dominated views of the female standing socially, politically and physically. It should be
made clear that Feminist art is not of a specific time period or movement, feminist art is neither a style
nor a movement...It consists of many styles and individual expressions. (Lippard) The use of
alternative creative expression is to broaden our knowledge of art, the way in which ideas and issues
are presented based on the journey of women historically through to the contemporary.
The visibility of female artists has increased over the years allowing for viewers to experience art
through a woman s perspective. Although there is still a largely male dominated art scene in our
contemporary world, as a young female artist it is becoming apparent that more and more female
artists are being given exposure publically and in private gallery spaces. Given that the art world is
highly subjective

Second, the classification in inventory management is still inaccurate. That results in some problems
such as: the severe lack of some products which are in growing demand (1 inch valve series 230), the
redundancy making storage expenses go up and the stagnancy in storage area (to products like gear
driven rotary and monitor controller) Third, , under the circumstance that Toro doesn t have adequate
conditions for goods inventory, in a bid to avoid out of stock situations and failure to supply goods for
customers, the company could resort to use receipts of other distributors. Considering these above
mentioned features, to take over the company, it is essential for Joe Jr. to take due attention to a proper
approach for inventory management, calculate an appropriate inventory level for each product,
making it in line with the company s business strategy, the market demand in the upcoming period:
To well sold materials with high sales, it requires reviewing ordering times, making them in
accordance with 3 ordering times in a year of Toro corporation.
It s also necessary to calculate a reasonable level of inventory for materials

Cindy (Pseudonym) Is An Eight-Year-Old African-American
Cindy (pseudonym) is an eight year old African American female who is in 3rd grade and has attended
the after school program since May 2016 at Hope Gardens Community Center (HG) in Brooklyn,
New York. HG provides after school programs for pre K to high school students. Cindy appears to be
slightly shorter and skinnier than her peers and always wears a neatly maintained school uniform.
When the intern initially met Cindy, she was quiet but expressed her opinions lucidly. The after school
program teacher referred Cindy to art therapy due to her self harm ideations and attempts. It is
reported that she verbalized a desire to disappear and wished she did not exist. She scratched her arm
to harm herself and threatened to smash her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cindy asks her mother about her father on holidays, such as if he is coming or not. Cindy s mother
does not have a new partner and is very protective of her daughter. Her mother stopped working so she
can be present and support her daughter. They currently receive Food Stamps, which provides food
assistance for low income New Yorkers in supplementing the cost of their diet with nutritious foods.
Her mother is very invested in supporting and finding support services for her daughter. Cindy
recently lost her dog and cat; she mentioned that her mother gave them away and did not know the
reason. The art therapy session is held every Tuesday at a small space in the gym. When the intern
picked her up from her class, she did not look the intern and walked fast to the art therapy room. At
the room, she stated that she had a worst day at everywhere. The intern checked in with her, but she
did not share in detail. A sample of a doll and art materials were provided. Cindy asked the intern if
she can take it to home, and the intern reminded her the rules. She did not respond and began to make
the doll without words. Cindy appeared to be unmotivated to do art but followed the direction. In the
process, Cindy required an assistance of the intern because of her clumsy hand movement. While the
intern helped her, she expressed the feeling of frustration. She often mentioned you do it... you are

Review Of Ashleigh Kroll s Effectiveness Of The...
Economist and financial expert, Ashleigh Kroll evaluates the effectiveness of the Australian Stock
Exchange Sharemarket Game for high school students today. Does it really provide educational and
reliable insight into the financial world?
Roll of the Dice
For over 30 years, The Australian Sharemarket game has provided school students with an
understanding of how the share market really operates. The game allows for high school students
being first timers all the way to adults who want to just test their skills.
One teacher in 2013 said this after her experience in 2013, it brings the real world into the classroom,
allowing students to make decisions based on research, gut feeling and risk. It is also great for

There are some aspects of the game that create an educational learning curve, but the majority is
dependent upon sheer luck .
To win the game syndicates must achieve a profit over the initial $50,000 that they are given. The
game allows for up to 20 transactions to be made per day. This amount is over excessive making
students believe that buying and selling more often is the best way to approach the game. When in
reality the less trading players make the more likely they are to win. Players are only able to invest
less than 25% of their virtual money into one company. Therefore disabling syndicates to invest all
$50,000 into a sole company.
To test these theories, took the liberty to observe the game and playing of a specific syndicate from
Hillbrook Anglican School called Libash, it was composed of two Grade 11 students.
Over the 10 weeks from the 12th of March to the 20th of May, the All Ordinaries (XAO) was down
3.47%. The syndicate chose to invest in six companies: Alumina Limited, Ardent Leisure Group,
Bluescope Steel Limited, Oz Minerals Limited, Sundance Energy Australia Limited and Santos
Limited. They aimed to buy into different sectors if possible, so if one sector was falling they wouldn t
run the risk of gaining bad investments. Their strategies and decision making resulted in a profit of
$869.03 at the end of the game. The syndicate finished with a portfolio value of $50,869.03. Ranging

Trade Unions And The Workplace
Trade Unions are organisations and purpose is to look after employees in the workplace and protect
their rights. The way trade unions work, is that an employee needs to become a member of a specific
trade union, pays a fee to invest in the union s operations. In turn trade unions help employees with
things such as health and safety in the workplace, protection from discrimination, proper pay and
leave entitlements, making sure that the workers rights are protected etc. Unions also aim to protect
the interests of a union member for example, they commence campaigns and negotiations for
increased pay rates and they also try to improve working conditions such as health and safety.

The rights of this casual worker were also broken which were Anti Discrimination, Unfair Dismissal
which will all be addressed below. For the purpose of this report, only rights relating to this case will
be detailed below. NES RIGHTS: The National Employment Standards are ten rights the employees
are entitled to and they all apply to any worker in any job. The minimum NES rights include
provisions relating to the number of hours worked, such as the right to work no more than a maximum
weekly total of hours, and the right to request flexible working arrangements (including variation of
hours). Parental leave and Related Entitlements should be available to all non casual employees that
have family responsibilities. Annual leave is another provision under the NES rights to which all (non
casual) employees are entitled, and allows employees to take holidays. When an employee is ill, or has
family issues etc, Personal Carer s and Compassionate leave entitles them to take time off to deal with
their problems. Community service leave includes employees such as casual workers who can have
leave for certain activities such as voluntary emergency management activities and so forth. Public
holidays are days were employees get to have a day from their work and spend their own time with
whatever they have. Long service leave is when workers get long service leave after they

Legalization Of Abortion In The United States
Abortion has been an issue in our world for an extensive amount of time, having been a war between
politics vs. religion since the beginning. This is due to the fact that it has always been a prominent
problem and widely practiced whether it was legalized or not. Today, abortion has been a reoccurring
topic in political debate and we can trace this back to the late 1800 s when it became illegal, unless it
was to save the life of a woman. This was originally enforced for legislation to control the growing
women s rights movements, specifically targeting birth control and suffrage, and this control would
help bind them to the traditional housewife role. This subjected women to a life of little rights, and
feelings of shame, belittlement, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One if every five women get raped, at least 5% of these pregnancies are with the child of their rapist.
Numbers on sexual assault are not always accurate, as 63% of sexual violence is not reported to the
police, meaning a plethora of cases have not been documented. Most women that are pregnant with
their perpetrators children are seriously scarred and were not prepared for a kid. There have been
instances where at the time of birth and seeing the child s face is found to be too reminiscent of the
rapist and brings forth the trauma sexual assault leaves on the victim. This is due to the fact that 81%
of women report short and long term effects such as PTSD leaving them unable to care for the child
adequately or sufficiently. Also this happens a lot of the time in a situation of incest, as 34% of child
rapists end of being family members. This not only presents the same sexual abuse factors, but also
brings in the possibility of physically and mentally disabled children, making supporting a child
financially and emotionally even harder. People who are pregnant with disabled kids will many times
want an abortion due to these struggles, so you could imagine if it was a consequence of sexual assault
and how much of a toll it would take. Some people cannot provide enough to have a child and this
causes a surplus of problems if abortion is not an option. Kids that are kept could end up being given

Comparing Death in D.H. Lawrence s The Horse Dealer s Daughter and Katherine Mansfield s The
Garden Party
Controlling the movements of the short stories, death is a regnant theme in D.H. Lawrence s The
Horse Dealer s Daughter and Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party. Death brings forth
consciousness and it excites the need for an epiphany within the protagonists. To a lesser extent, death
creates tremors in the worlds of the antagonists. Death furthermore makes the indifferences of the
secondary characters more pronounced. Affecting the lives of the protagonists, the antagonists, and the
secondary characters of these two short stories, death plays an integral role in the themes of these
works.

Furthermore, she feels secure and invisible amongst the graves. Death does not scare Mabel; instead,
it comforts her. Attending to her mother s grave, Mabel feels immediate contact with the world of her
mother which, to her, is far more real than her life in the world of the living (2335). Rescued from the
pond by Dr. Ferguson, Mabel does not feel that her suicide attempt was foolish: It was the right thing
to do. I knew best, then (2338). Nevertheless, the immersion in the frigid waters cleansed Mabel s
soul, and she begins to feel a desperate need to be loved. Mabel asks her rescuer bluntly: Do you love
me, then? (2338). Mabel wavers in her spiritual recovery: her humble eyes of transfiguration,
triumphant in first possession (2338) quickly turn into a look of death when Ferguson hesitates to
profess his love for her (2339). In the end, when the doctor smiles at her, Mabel s eyes well up with
tears, like some slow fountain (2339) like the fountain of life. Mabel, through her brush with death, is
granted a renewal of life.
Empathetic but naïve, Laura in Mansfield s The Garden Party is not spiritually dead like Mabel, but
she reaches a new level of understanding about life through the death of Scott the carter. Laura s love

Emerging Challenges in Airport Management
Project Assignment Air Transport Management (ATM 1) (Submitted by: Mohd. Khalid Khan) Title:
Emerging Challenges in Airport Management Way Forward Introduction: The last few years has seen
an exponential growth in the aviation industry. Aviation infrastructure has expanded to include
hundreds of airports and airlines around the world. New airports have mushroomed in places which
were hardly known to the world, existing airports have upgraded their facilities, new terminals have
come up and multiple airlines have been setup. The volume of people who choose aviation as a
transport has considerably grown. The aviation industry is in full bloom and so are the problems ...

Major expansion of one part may necessitate expansion of another. For example, adding new runways
and increasing the number of airside operations will result in the need for new gates and more terminal
waiting areas for passengers. Another problem often encountered in expansion is the lack of suitable
land. Many airports are closely surrounded by urbanized areas, land that would be extremely
expensive to acquire. In many metropolitan areas, a suitable tract of land might be distant from the
city center, making ground access a problem. In selecting a distant site, several questions arise. If a
new airport is a supplement to, rather than a substitute for, the existing airport, would passengers be
willing to travel that far to use it? Would air carriers be willing to serve an airport that might attract
fewer passengers than the old airport? These questions above need to be answered in order for funds
to come easily and satisfaction of both the government and the public. This has become a major issue
in today`s world of fast moving aviation. The following points help keep a check on airport
development and initiate proper release of funds for the same. a) Drafting a sound financing strategy
with realistic projects. b) Encouraging private investments and review public financing options. c)
Understanding the new airport management concepts. d) Introducing the brand awareness concept in

The Poem
Thomas Hardy has structured Hap to meet all the requirements of the form of an English sonnet: Its

The idea however is quite challenging. It reminds me of a young philosopher who is questioning why
bad things happen to good people. Surely it is chance, but what Hardy is hinting towards is what if it
is a bad thing only because we THINK it is a bad thing? It is almost circular. I do not know much
about Hardy but what I do know is that he tried really hard to believe in god but in the end, he came
out completely agnostic. This poem shows that struggle.
Hap is a poem by Thomas Hardy (1840 1928) that he wrote in 1866, while working as a trainee
architect, and for which he could not find a publisher. It did not reach the general public until 1898
when Hardy included it in his first collection, which was entitled Wessex Poems , which only
appeared after he had concluded his career as a highly successful novelist.
The poem is a sonnet, although it is presented as three stanzas in that the traditional octave is split into
two stanzas each of four lines and the sestet is a stanza on its own. The rhyme scheme is ABAB
CDCD EFEFFE, which is a variant on the Shakespearean form, although the clean break between
octave and sestet is more associated with the Petrarchan sonnet form.
The poem can be seen as Hardy s reaction to the basic thinking that underlies Darwin s The Origin of
Species which had been published in 1859. Hardy understood Darwin to imply that the mechanism
that drove natural

since movies have been altered to suit the interests of people that exist in the world today, the movie

Assess The Impact Of Globalization On The Chinese Economy
Globalization is a process that refers to the increased integration between different countries and
economies as well as the increased impact of international influences on all aspects of life and
economic activity. Over the last 50 years, globalization has had a tremendous impact on the Chinese
economy. The impacts brought forth by globalization can be both positive and negative and effect both
economic performance, economic growth and the development of China s economy. Globalization is
the main factor responsible for China s significant growth that has taken place over the last two
decades. However, globalization itself is not entirely responsible. The Chinese economy has also
implemented strategies which have been very effective in promoting economic growth and
development. These strategies include the implantation of Open door policy , Reformation of China s
agricultural system and joining the World Trade Organisation.
The impact of globalization on the Chinese economy can be seen through the increase in economic
performance. Over the last two decades, the Chinese economy has experienced significant economic
growth due to globalization. Globalization is responsible for reducing the barriers to trade and
increasing the integration between different countries and economies. The reduction of trade barriers
as well as the increased integration between different countries and economies resulted in an increase
in foreign investment and international trading which leads

Pros and Cons of Using Social Media Tools in Schools
Social media has transformed the world. No longer is communication the same. This is evident in the
social media by businesses and individuals alike. Businesses build communities, and raise awareness,
through the use of social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Education system has also adopted
social media tools in the classroom and is now playing a significant role in many schools and
universities. However, proper planning has to take place to ensure that these tools are managed
effectively in the classroom. With this, students can benefit immensely from the use of these tools in
the classroom. However, even with proper management, the relevant authorities need to understand
that this requires a high level of maintenance and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CONS
Lack of knowledge
The use of social media tools in the classroom must be managed by someone. This person needs to
understand the impact of social media usage on the school whether positive or negative.
Lack of features
Students need to be engaged so features need to be included that facilitates a one on one connection.
This will give the students a sense of feeling that the school is taking them into consideration.
More than a presence
Using social media tools in the classroom takes a lot of planning and requires daily maintenance and
monitoring. There should also be interactions with the students on a continuous basis. The school s
social media site can form the opinion of prospective, current and past students, (Bennett, 2012).
According to (Lederer, 2012), several cons of the use of social media tools in the classroom includes
being a distraction, used as vehicle for cyber bullying and it discourages face to face communication.
Distraction
Many educators are of the view that social media tools can distract students attention from what is
being done in the class and hence disrupt the teaching learning process. For example if Facebook is
included in the lesson plan for a language class, where students are able to communicate with students
in a different lesson can prove beneficial. However, there are students who would consider it an
opportunity to goof off in class and the onus will be on the teacher to ensure that the students stay on
task.

Evaluation Of A Use Case Analysis
6.0 USE CASE ANALYSIS
The Use Case analysis is a method which focuses highly on the systems functional Requirements and
when completed will consist of a Use Case Model. The model consists of actors, Use cases, use case
scenarios and other criteria which helps represents the use case. Within a use case Model there are
many relationships (generalization, include and extends) which help represent the flow and
functionality of the system and its entity s.
A Use case describes the behaviour of a process within a system and usually has relationships with
actors (external sources who interact with system). A Use Case scenario is identifying the specific
executions carried out during a Use Case and these help create and gather requirements.

Who Is Man s Worst Enemy In Macbeth
Man s Worst Enemy
Annika Boehme
Ambition is like water. Humans need it to live but too little will weaken and kill you. Conversely, too
much and you ll drown. (Unknown). Ambition can drive individuals to do prodigious things.
However, when pursued with overconfidence and lust for power, ambition can lead to extreme actions
that can affect oneself and the people around them. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare discusses the
idea regarding the impact an individual s ambition has on themself and others. Macbeth was promised
or cursed by three witches that he would obtain more power and would one day be the King of
Scotland. Macbeth believed the witches and their foretelling, but to gain this power and title many

When Macbeth heard that he would one day be king, he decided to murder King Duncan in order to
secure that position for himself, after having been encouraged by his wife. With the curse from the
three witches, Macbeth began a domino effect of events in an effort to remain king, which drove both
him and Lady Macbeth crazy as they realized their greed led to their tragic downfall. This can be seen
when Macbeth murdered his friend Banquo and his murderous deeds came back to haunt them. Not
only did these murders have a toll on Macbeth but the weight of these murders was on Lady Macbeth
as well. Following the murder of Banquo, Lady Macbeth was found sleepwalking and trying to wash
her hands of the King s blood. Lo you, here she comes. This is her very guise; and, upon my life, fast

nations like Africa as these natives were easily to manipulate. A desire to spread and influence western
ideology, specifically Christianity, to rural nations is depicted in Barbra Kingsolver s novel The
Poisonwood Bible. Kingsolver portrays an American missionary Reverend Price and his family as
they attempt to spread and make a significant impact on the people of the Belgian Congo, whom the
Reverend describes as a place where he can save needy souls . American intervention in the Congo
highlights few of the many results of attempting to revive a nation ridden of post colonial damage,
including the fusion of two cultures, the abuse of political power and, international perception and
relations. The clashing of cultures appears through the numerous attempts the Price children take to
adapt to their new political and social environment, including adapting to the language, routine life
and cultural traditions. Illustrating the differences of what Americans and the Congolese do during

Ways Of Knowing
No knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing. Discuss.
There are several ways to produce knowledge. Producing knowledge requires different beliefs to be
justified by different ways that we can acquire knowledge around us. Some of those ways of knowing
are reasoning, imagining, intuition, using our memory and faith, and they are mostly used as
combinations to support and complete each other to create a well guided whole knowledge. I agree
with the idea that no knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing. Although a knowledge
seems to be produced by a single way of knowing, there is always another way of knowing that is
there, hidden somewhere, to support the other one. By stating no knowledge , it means that there
should be no exceptions, not even a single one so that all the situations should prove this statement
right. Using a single way of knowing should refer to the ways of knowing which will be working in a
complete isolation. Therefore we cannot consider a way of knowing, which seems to work single but
have the support of another one, as isolated because in that situation this will be an exception to
disprove the statement single . Also, once a counter argument manages to confute the statement and
show that knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing, there should be no more to discuss
about because no knowledge means exactly none of the situations. The reason why this title is worth
to discuss is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about Let s Stand Up for Liberty
Who is Robyn Blumner? Perhaps she is simply your everyday editorialist for a daily newspaper. Or, as
the former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida (ACLU), could she
possibly have her own agenda? One of Blumner s columns entitled Let s stand up for liberty was
published in a well known editorial writers magazine called The Masthead . In summary, it focuses on
freedom of speech, and how we tend to lose sight of it, or even have it taken from us during national
hardships. She feels that the government tends to deny us of these freedoms when we need them the
most, during war. Blumner sturdily supports her claims throughout the course of her column.
However, does the fact that she was once affiliated with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Blumner claims during World War I, few editorial boards stood up for civil liberties. Instead, they
chose to reflect the xenophobic [anti immigrant] views of their readership [par.16]. In support, she
quotes from a professor of journalism, Joseph McKerns, to back her statement. McKerns asserts
foreigners were the ones portrayed as a threat rather than merely exercising free speech [par.18]. He
also alleges the daily press made a convenient separation, seeing the speech of the political activist as
different from what it did [par.17]. By accentuating her interest of immigrant s rights, could it be she is
supporting yet again, her past organization?
Where do her priorities lie? So far we have identified her support of national freedom and immigrant s
rights. Throughout the course of the article she also defends the rights of Japanese Americans, German
Americans, and defends publishers that were prosecuted for violating the Espionage Act in wartime
history. She may have valid claims, but she is still being biased. What about the natives of Iraq that
gained liberties from the capture of Saddam Hussein? War doesn t always have viewed negatively.
Apparently she was respected enough to be published. However, a little background on The Masthead
is nothing more than an opinion writing magazine. Does this make her credible? I think not!
In the beginning I was compelled by her article. It truly made me

The British Petroleum Oil Spill and Lack of Response Essay...
The British Petroleum Oil Spill and Lack of Response
Last year, news spread of an oil spill off the Gulf Coast. These events occur periodically and usually
register much media attention. As British Petroleum (BP) executives could not shut off the crude oil or
prevent the damage it caused, people took notice. Millions of dollars in tourism, commerce and sales
were lost. Thousands of wildlife acres and ecosystems were also compromised. There were more
questions than answers.
What BP did to alleviate growing fears made the controversy. They said there were no problems
initially, then denied there were problems then they could not fix the problem. BP executives were

(Houpe, 2010) Hayward became the face of British Petroleum during the incident, and thus became
the easy target for critics and politicians alike. Haywood appeared to know the situation; he just did
not have any clue on implementing next steps. Think of Hayward as the equivalent of a headless
animal. Without a strategy to locate the leak and cap it, there oil continued to devastate the land and
water in the Gulf. Hayward often looked like someone who are unclear of the situation and/or how to
proceed. That only fueled the problems BP faced and would move forward on containing the spill and
the following follow up. (Luce, 2010) What should have happened was BP executives, be it Hayward
or someone else, proactively come out and said what happened in the Gulf, what was being done and
its progress. That would have cleared many concerns up front and had everyone on board from the
start. Instead, the company looked the other way. Unfortunately for BP, the spill got deeper and bigger
as the days unfolded. That just added to the mounting troubles for the company. These problems were
nearly too numerous to mention. With many networking and media media tools available, the
company did little or nothing to improve its image in the public s eye. In fact, they harmed themselves
further by the way they conducted themselves. All they did is make them look more like the Keystone
Cops than a well run organization. (Capstick, 2010)

The Automotive Sector in Italy
The Automotive Sector in Italy I. Introduction: Sector Analysis Part A: Out of all the countries I have
visited in my life, Italy is definitely my favorite. Italy is located in southern Europe bordering
countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over sixty million
people, Italy has a capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed infrastructure.
According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in the entire world and
third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the GDP of Italy
expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. From 1960 2013, the GDP growth rate averaged
63% per year. Their main industrial base is driven by producing high quality consumer goods. The
main sectors in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery, textiles, food processing, shoes, clothing
(fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector. Italy joined the European Union in 1952, and
between then and now, their country has gone through growth rates well above 4%. However, after
1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below the European Union average. Ever since then, Italy s
government has been trying to revive their economy by increasing the amount of public spending. In
result, the public debt and budget deficit have attained unsustainable levels and the country has
recently gone through a tough recession. Now in 2014, Italy has actually returned to growth after

The Rhetorical Analysis Of William Faulkner s Barn Burning
Cold Metal, Hot Flame
William Faulkner s Barn Burning is a well versed rendition of the post Civil War era, about the lives
of a family of poor tenant farmers. This story s setting is in a fictional (yet almost familiar) county in
Mississippi, and is told through the eyes of a young boy. In a detached sort of tone, Faulkner takes us
step by step through the ups and downs of Abner s moods, and how his youngest son, Sarty, perceives
them. Here is the thesis statement: However, it is Faulkner s style, tone, and use of long, flowing
sentences, that most stand out to the reader. .
In Barn Burning , Sarty s father, Abner, shows hostility to everyone around him and adds an unspoken
element to the setting that you can feel and imagine as you read. You can instantly see how Sarty
views his father, always comparing him to a cold hard metal that is tempered by a hot flame: He could
see his father against the stars but without face or depth a shape black, flat, and bloodless as though
cut from tin in the iron fold of the frockcoat which had not been made for him, the voice harsh like tin
and without heat like tin (127). It is ironic for Abner to be compared to a cold metal, when he is totally
consumed with a fiery hatred. The reader can almost feel Abner s deep dislike of anyone who owns
anything or has money. Faulkner s descriptions are colorful, elaborate, and a key part of his style.
Focusing on Abner, the reader senses he thrives off seeking revenge when he feels wronged, and he
responds with his emotions and relates it to the destruction caused by fire. However, he only uses fire
in what he feels to be extreme circumstances, because the element of fire spoke to some deep
mainspring of his father s being, as the element of steel or of powder spoke to other men, as the one
weapon for the preservation of integrity, else breath were not worth the breathing, and hence to be
regarded with respect and used with discretion (127). Abner s mood is important to the setting in the
way that speaks openly about Southern hostility and how it is almost always bottled up inside until the
anger and resentment are no longer bearable. That s when the barns burn down.
From the reader s point of view, the tone of the

This was the fist time the ensemble preformed this in front of an audience. Falzone informed us that
this piece was very hard to play. In this song the lute, accordion, clarinet and percussion are played.
This song has a lot of high and low pitches. The music starts off with piano dynamic than increases to
forte dynamic. I assume that the high and low pitch symbolize the sleepless night. To me the high note
symbolizes the moment when I am asleep. On the other hand the low notes are when I have to wake
up due to something sudden.
It is my first time hearing and seeing a harmonium. It is used in more spiritual pieces. A harmonium is
a keyboard instrument in which the notes are produced by air driven through metal reeds by foot
operated bellows. The concept of it reminds me of an accordion. They both work on the same
principle of blowing air to vibrate tuned reeds when keys are pressed. The accordion is played while
holding the instrument with two hands; however, the harmonium is played with it on the floor. On the
first look one would say it is a piano for a little

The Life Of Bob Dylan
The Life of Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan is often considered to be one of the greatest and most influential musicians of all time. He
has released 36 albums, and has amassed a huge following of music lovers. His songs have ranged
from poetic folk songs that discuss social issues of the 1960s, to covers of very famous songs recorded
with his own stylistic twist. He was one of the first rock artists whose lyrics were considered to be on
par with works of literature (1)He has also been one of the only artists, to this day, that has been able
to consistently affect listeners of any generation. For over 5 decades, he has remained a dominant
musician in the American recording arts and he will remain such for decades to come. Bob Dylan was
born as Robert Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota on May 24, 1941. He grew up nearby in the small
town of Hibbing, Minnesota. It was there, in Hibbing, where he learned to play guitar and set the
foundation for his successful music career. Dylan attended Hibbing High School where he formed a
band called The Golden Chords, which covered songs from the likes of Elvis Presley and Little
Richard (2). The Golden Chords never achieved mainstream success and disbanded after the members
graduated high school. After high school, Dylan (whose legal name at this time was still Robert
Zimmerman) attended the University of Minnesota. While there, he began performing at local coffee
houses under the name Bob Dylan. He eventually decided college wasn t for him and

Clark (2009) explains there are two relevant reasons why nursing staff continue to leave CG4. First,
the nursing staff is primarily single females less than thirty years of age. This causes for rapid turnover

Ban Zhao is another significant individual who help shape modern concepts. She was born in the first

She is significant in Chinese history because of her writings and teachings of the Admonitions for
Women using a Confucian approach to define appropriate behavior (Gregory p. 123).
She objected that many families taught their sons to read, but not their daughters and would go on to

commonly used texts for the education of Chinese women (McKay et al, p. 166).
If Confucius and Mencius were trying to create the superior man (junzi) then Ban Zhao was trying to

American in the 90 s Essay
The era of the 1990 s was an explosive time in American history both figuratively and literally. In the
90 s there was an extreme variety of different failures and also advances in technology. We as a nation
had new advancements in space travel, our military and the way of life preparing for the turn of the
century. As a country we didn t know what the new millennium had to bring for us, but we were ready.
Most significantly changing America though was from our creativeness that took place, the fear we
had, and our militaristic ways. In the 90 s, the concept of music was a huge explosion compared to
previous years, though there were many more acts of creativity. Primarily, music played a huge part in
society as apposed to other decades. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

what to do after December 31st, 1999. The computers shorting out also struck fear that ballistic
missile and nuclear weapons that were run by computer would launch and cause mass destruction.
Fear of terrorism was also brought upon by the bombings of the World Trade Centers. This event
happened by a truck with bombs planted in the back of it to be parked and detonated under the centers.
Even though the bomb had successfully gone off, no significant structural damage took place. This did
end up causing wide spread fear of terrorism though. The final fear that made the 90 s such a
memorable era was the Hubble Space Telescope failure. After years of design, the Hubble Space
Telescope was launched into space. The telescope ended up faulty though with unfocused lenses. This
made the multimillion dollar project almost a complete failure. In solution though, new lenses were
able to be sent and installed making the telescope work properly. All of the fear brought upon by the
1990 s brought a scare for the moment, but the advancements in technology never held anyone back.
Though a disaster itself, the militaristic ways of our nation in the 1990 s was the final blow that
America had to take. The most significant militaristic feat was the Persian Gulf War. Also known as
Dessert Storm, the war started as an invasion from Iraq into Kuwait. After this

Essay On Caravaggesque
Artemisia Gentileschi and her art are finally receiving deserved scholarly attention. While much
remains to be written about her, a great deal has been done to clarify her oeuvre since Roberto Longhi
s pioneering efforts in 1916. Some of the underlying assumptions that guided Longhi in his evaluation
of Artemisia Gentileschi and his attempt to set forth an oeuvre for her still dominate our thinking
about her art. Primary among them is Artemisia s role as a caravaggesca, that is, her place as a
follower of Caravaggio. In fact, initial viewing and evaluations of her work were done in the context
of Caravaggio: before 1991, her work was seen almost exclusively in exhibitions devoted to assessing
Caravaggio s influence and in surveys of his followers.
Caravaggio was a revolutionary artist who used nature as the primary model in his paintings by
recording the imperfections of the physical world and its inhabitants. Caravaggio s influence is
credited with luring other artists to follow him in his use of darkened grounds and the substitution of
the commonplace for more nobly conceived figures in idealized settings. The term caravaggesque,
however, encompasses a range of qualities, including the recreation of tactile surfaces, the use of
focused light sources that penetrate darkened interiors to bring isolated figures and objects into raised
relief, the practice of designing and then painting compositions directly onto the canvas without
preparatory drawings, and the

The era from about 500 to 1000 C.E. is sometimes referred to as the Dark Ages in European history,
partly because many aspects of the Roman civilization were lost, such as written language, advanced
architectural and building techniques, complex government, and access to long distance trade. For the
most part, these early people of Europe could not read or write, and lived much as their nomadic
ancestors had. In their isolation, they slowly cleared the forested areas for farming, but their greatest
need was for protection. However, the need for protection grew to be most important when the
Vikings from Scandinavia invaded many areas of Europe in the 8th and 9th centuries, followed by the
Magyars, who came from the east in the late 9th century. In response, Europeans established
feudalism as a way to unite and protect them.
European feudal institutions revolved around political and military relationships. The feudal political
order developed into a complicated network of lord vassal relationships, with lords having overlords,
and overlords owing allegiance to kings. On these foundations early kingdoms, such as England and
France, were built, but in other areas, such as modern day Germany, the feudal organization remained
highly decentralized.

There was a myriad of reports on different towns in Scotland, so that the Poor Law Commissioners

the eighteen documents that the Poor Law Commissioners received were from doctors and surgeons.

exaggeration, this primary source is very important to how we view the process of urbanisation in

towns adapted to and were affected by the huge influx of people that came to the towns and cities of
Scotland in the late eighteenth century. It shows part of the transition from churches to government in
the question of who is responsible for the care of the needy in the population. We also see the role that

The Brief Educational Intervention Of Diabetes Mellitus...
The brief educational intervention for this study was conducted among Meharry medical students
during their Family and Community Medicine clerkship between May 2014 and December 2015. An
existing ninety minute didactic education session for Preventive Medicine topics was enhanced
through the addition of nutrition content related to chronic disease prevention and treatment. The
curriculum was designed by Meharry faculty based on a thorough literature review, including
guidelines and recommendations from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health,
American Diabetes Association, and USPSTF.21 The content was tailored toward identification of risk
factors, screening, and dietary recommendations for coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus type 2,
and hyperlipidemia. The expected impact was improvement of nutrition knowledge and increased
comfort and intention to use such knowledge in future practice. The presentation was delivered by
Meharry Preventive Medicine faculty and Preventive Medicine resident physicians. Each training
session consisted of a pre test, an interactive didactic session, and a post test. The students were
provided with a written disclaimer about the study which emphasized that their participation was
voluntary. Scoring of the pre and post test was neither shared with the clerkship director nor did it
impact the students grades. The intervention was approved by the Meharry Medical College IRB. The
evaluation instrument consisted of

Loren Eiseley s Essay Brown Wasps
The Brown Wasps by Loren Eiseley s essay demonstrates how human sense of place and self can be
based on fantasy. Through his writing, he depicts humans and animals clinging to things they are very
familiar with. Eiseley illustrates how humans and animals tend to act in a similar manner by
comparing the homeless men who find shelter in train stations with the scenario of the wasp that
continuously revisits its hive for accommodation. This is evident in the manner in which both men and
wasps die in their special areas. Eiseley depicts homeless men coming to die to the train station
benches as similar to the death of wasps in the paper homes. He notes that men sit and cling to
benches at the train stations and at times fail to leave the benches

Richard Wagner and Opera Essay
Richard Wagner and Opera
One of the key figures in the history of opera, Wagner was largely responsible for altering its
orientation in the nineteenth century. His program of artistic reform accelerated the trend towards
organically conceived, through composed structures, as well as influencing the development of the
orchestra, of a new breed of singer, and of various aspects of theatrical practice. As the most
influential composer during the second half of the nineteenth century, Richard Wagner s conception of
music remains very much with us even a century after his death. He was a remarkable innovator both
in harmony and the structure of his work, creating his own version of the Gesamtkunstwerk, dramatic

For Wagner, the function of music was to serve the ends of dramatic expression, and all of his most
important compositions were composed for the theater. Particularly in Tannhauser, Wagner brilliantly
adapted the substance of the German Romantic libretto to the framework of grand opera. The music
evoked the opposite worlds of sin and blessedness with great emotional fervor and a luxuriant
harmony and color. The Pilgrim s Chorus from this opera contains what is perhaps Wagner s most
popular and widely known melody. Fatefully, despite his musical successes, things took a bad turn for
Wagner when, in 1848, he was caught up in political revolution, and the next year he fled to Weimar
where Franz Liszt helped him. Later he fled to Switzerland and France. Lohengrin was first performed
under the direction of Franz Liszt at Weimar in 1850, and it is the last of Wagner s works that he ever
referred to as an opera. Lohengrin embodies several changes prophetic of the Music Dramas that were
to follow it. The story comes from medieval legend, but Wagner s treatment is generalized and
symbolic. The technique of recurring themes was further developed, particularly with respect to the
motives associated with Lohengrin and the Grail. Using Weber s Der Freischütz as a model to a
certain extent, Wagner used tonality with his characters to help organize both the drama and the

Alzheimer s Disease In Nursing Home
In the United States there are approximately 15,700 nursing homes. These facilities are responsible for
providing long term care to a large percent of the elderly population in our country. Many families and
individuals rely on care from these facilities to ensure that they are in a safe, caring environment
where their medical needs are fulfilled. Unfortunately, many seniors are not only being neglected, but
are being mistreated, misdiagnosed and receiving inappropriate medical care. Specifically, In
Massachusetts, there is a widespread epidemic concerning the use of antipsychotic medications in the
elderly in nursing homes. Antipsychotic medications are major tranquilizers that are used in people
with psychological disorders referred to as psychosis. Patients suffering from these conditions hear
voices, see things that are not there, and have a difficult time being in touch with reality. Diseases such
as schizophrenia, severe bipolar disorder, and psychotic depression are most frequently ... Show more

Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease and vascular dementia are some of the most common forms
of this ailment. Patients with dementia experience a variety of symptoms and presentation can vary
from patient to patient. The exact cause of dementia is still widely unknown. However, the disease
presents as damage to brain cells that inhibits proper communication between brain cells. Most
commonly, individuals with dementia experience memory loss, difficulty communicating effectively,
and tasks they have been doing their whole lives suddenly become difficult. Dementia is typically a
progressive disease; therefore, onset can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint. There is no specific test
available to diagnose whether someone has dementia. Currently, there is no cure and no treatment
option that can deter the progression of

Viet Nam Essay
Tactics in Vietnam were an important factor in the victory of the Vietcong over the U.S. There were
fundamental differences in their fighting methods, which the Vietcong were able to take full advantage
of. The Vietcong used Guerrilla warfare, this meant that they used their knowledge of the area they
were fighting in to hinder the U.S. The U.S army had been used to conventional warfare, in the form
of bouts of fighting. Guerrilla warfare meant that they had to be constantly alert and Booby traps
meant that many soldiers died and witnessed horrific deaths. This was naturally unnerving for the
soldiers concerned, particularly so because many of the soldiers were young and inexperienced.
The technology of the U.S was far superior to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main tactic employed by the U.S was known as search and destroy . This meant hunting down
and killing Vietcong. The Vietcong used a similar tactic called find and kill , although this was
conceptually the same as search and destroy it was much more successful. One reason for this was that
the U.S soldiers wore uniforms and were easier to pick out. Another reason was that the U.S soldiers
had to contend with Vietcong mines and booby traps. These included what was known as a Punji trap,
which was a deep hole filled with spikes covered with poison of faeces. Another was the Bouncing
Betty which was a mine under the soil with three prongs that when steed on would explode. It was
extremely disconcerting for soldiers to know that their next step could be their last. This caused a
whole host of mental problems for the U.S soldiers. Booby traps accounted for %11 of deaths and
%17 of wounds in the war.
The U.S used pacification , to win the hearts and minds of the South Vietnamese. This meant that help
was given to the villages. Schools and hospitals were built. This policy was a success; many South
Vietnamese remained in support of the Americans and were immune to the persuasive talk of
communist infiltrators. However those who were already convinced as to the virtues of communism
would not be swayed. The Vietcong used statistics such as the tally of American planes being shot
down, in order to keep up morale and keep the troops faithful and

Essay on Prayer in Public Schools
Prayer in Public Schools
An issue that has been constantly debated for years is whether voluntary prayer in public schools
should be permitted. A student should be allowed to pray voluntarily at the beginning of each school
day based on many reasons. Prayer based on moral beliefs reinforce good citizenship as defined by
our forefathers. A daily reminder of a need for the belief of good over evil is a necessary part of this
society. Daily voluntary school prayer should be re instated in public schools due to three reasons, the
historical basis of the beginning of the United States government, the serious moral decline since
prayer has been outlawed, and the government infringement on the constitutional guarantee of
individual freedom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason for reinstating volunteer prayer in public schools comes from the fact that since prayer
has been prohibited in public schools, the morality of the nation has declined. Since the Supreme
Court outlawed prayer in public schools in 1960, the nation has seen a steady moral decline. There is a
strong correlation between the expulsion of prayer in public schools and moral decline. Between the
years of 1960 and 1990, the divorce rate has more than doubled, teenage pregnancy and teenage
suicide has increased 250%. Child abuse is now at an all time high and since the end of school prayer,
abortions have gone up more than 1000%. Universal principles of a civilized society are mandated by
the Bible and re enforce by prayer. In the words of Ben Franklin, ? When we were subject to danger
from the war with Great Britain, we met daily in this room to pray for Divine protection. Our prayers,
Sir, were heard and graciously answered??Have we now forgotten our powerful Friend? Do we no
longer need his assistance?? The coming together to pray daily provide support, re enforcement and
fellowship to keep minds focused on good instead of evil. Many psychological studies have found that
people who pray daily have spiritual faith in goodness as presented in Christianity suffer less
depression and are less likely to commit suicide. Parents teach their children morals at home. These
lessons of right and

  • 2. Feminism And The Contemporary Art The contemporary art world is including and exposing more female artists who are promoting themselves creatively and pushing for equality through art. This essay will examine the increase of feminist art visibility and the way in which the audience views work through female perspectives; how art is defined through alternative and non traditional media, and how fine art has created platforms and spaces for discussion and widens views of feminism within feminist groups and how it can be portrayed differently. In our contemporary age of art, female artists are stripping away the precedent of the male dominated views of the female standing socially, politically and physically. It should be made clear that Feminist art is not of a specific time period or movement, feminist art is neither a style nor a movement...It consists of many styles and individual expressions. (Lippard) The use of alternative creative expression is to broaden our knowledge of art, the way in which ideas and issues are presented based on the journey of women historically through to the contemporary. The visibility of female artists has increased over the years allowing for viewers to experience art through a woman s perspective. Although there is still a largely male dominated art scene in our contemporary world, as a young female artist it is becoming apparent that more and more female artists are being given exposure publically and in private gallery spaces. Given that the art world is highly subjective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To win the game syndicates must achieve a profit over the initial $50,000 that they are given. The game allows for up to 20 transactions to be made per day. This amount is over excessive making students believe that buying and selling more often is the best way to approach the game. This is due to the fact that it has always been a prominent problem and widely practiced whether it was legalized or not. Today, abortion has been a reoccurring topic in political debate and we can trace this back to the late 1800 s when it became illegal, unless it was to save the life of a woman. Most women that are pregnant with their perpetrators children are seriously scarred and were not prepared for a kid. There have been instances where at the time of birth and seeing the child s face is found to be too reminiscent of the rapist and brings forth the trauma sexual assault leaves on the victim. This is due to the fact that 81% of women report short and long term effects such as PTSD leaving them unable to care for the child adequately or sufficiently. Also this happens a lot of the time in a situation of incest, as 34% of child rapists end of being family members. This not only presents the same sexual abuse factors, but also brings in the possibility of physically and mentally disabled children, making supporting a child financially and emotionally even harder. People who are pregnant with disabled kids will many times want an abortion due to these struggles, so you could imagine if it was a consequence of sexual assault and how much of a toll it would take. Khalid Khan) Title: Emerging Challenges in Airport Management Way Forward Introduction: The last few years has seen an exponential growth in the aviation industry. Aviation infrastructure has expanded to include hundreds of airports and airlines around the world. New airports have mushroomed in places which were hardly known to the world, existing airports have upgraded their facilities, new terminals have come up and multiple airlines have been setup. The volume of people who choose aviation as a transport has considerably grown. The aviation industry is in full bloom and so are the problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Major expansion of one part may necessitate expansion of another. For example, adding new runways and increasing the number of airside operations will result in the need for new gates and more terminal waiting areas for passengers. Another problem often encountered in expansion is the lack of suitable land. Many airports are closely surrounded by urbanized areas, land that would be extremely expensive to acquire. In many metropolitan areas, a suitable tract of land might be distant from the city center, making ground access a problem. In selecting a distant site, several questions arise. If a new airport is a supplement to, rather than a substitute for, the existing airport, would passengers be willing to travel that far to use it? Would air carriers be willing to serve an airport that might attract fewer passengers than the old airport? These questions above need to be answered in order for funds to come easily and satisfaction of both the government and the public. This has become a major issue in today`s world of fast moving aviation. The following points help keep a check on airport development and initiate proper release of funds for the same. a) Drafting a sound financing strategy with realistic projects. b) Encouraging private investments and review public financing options. c) Understanding the new airport management concepts. d) Introducing the brand awareness concept in ... Surely it is chance, but what Hardy is hinting towards is what if it is a bad thing only because we THINK it is a bad thing? It is almost circular. I do not know much about Hardy but what I do know is that he tried really hard to believe in god but in the end, he came out completely agnostic. This poem shows that struggle. Hap is a poem by Thomas Hardy (1840 1928) that he wrote in 1866, while working as a trainee architect, and for which he could not find a publisher. It did not reach the general public until 1898 when Hardy included it in his first collection, which was entitled Wessex Poems , which only appeared after he had concluded his career as a highly successful novelist. The poem is a sonnet, although it is presented as three stanzas in that the traditional octave is split into two stanzas each of four lines and the sestet is a stanza on its own. The rhyme scheme is ABAB CDCD EFEFFE, which is a variant on the Shakespearean form, although the clean break between octave and sestet is more associated with the Petrarchan sonnet form. The poem can be seen as Hardy s reaction to the basic thinking that underlies Darwin s The Origin of Species which had been published in 1859. • 20. The Poisonwood Bible in the European Conquest in Africa The European conquest in Africa reinforced the notion of seizing seemingly primitive nations occupied by natives whose culture and lifestyle must be rationalized and modified to fit the standards of a modern country. Following the post World War II era came the opportunity for the world s most powerful nations to make a significant impact on a war torn world. The two super power nations of the time, the United States and the Soviet Union, craved to influence vulnerable and poverty ridden nations like Africa as these natives were easily to manipulate. A desire to spread and influence western ideology, specifically Christianity, to rural nations is depicted in Barbra Kingsolver s novel The Poisonwood Bible. Kingsolver portrays an American missionary Reverend Price and his family as they attempt to spread and make a significant impact on the people of the Belgian Congo, whom the Reverend describes as a place where he can save needy souls . American intervention in the Congo highlights few of the many results of attempting to revive a nation ridden of post colonial damage, including the fusion of two cultures, the abuse of political power and, international perception and relations. The clashing of cultures appears through the numerous attempts the Price children take to adapt to their new political and social environment, including adapting to the language, routine life and cultural traditions. • 21. Ways Of Knowing No knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing. Discuss. There are several ways to produce knowledge. Producing knowledge requires different beliefs to be justified by different ways that we can acquire knowledge around us. Some of those ways of knowing are reasoning, imagining, intuition, using our memory and faith, and they are mostly used as combinations to support and complete each other to create a well guided whole knowledge. I agree with the idea that no knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing. Although a knowledge seems to be produced by a single way of knowing, there is always another way of knowing that is there, hidden somewhere, to support the other one. By stating no knowledge , it means that there should be no exceptions, not even a single one so that all the situations should prove this statement right. Using a single way of knowing should refer to the ways of knowing which will be working in a complete isolation. Therefore we cannot consider a way of knowing, which seems to work single but have the support of another one, as isolated because in that situation this will be an exception to disprove the statement single . Also, once a counter argument manages to confute the statement and show that knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing, there should be no more to discuss about because no knowledge means exactly none of the situations. • 22. Essay about Let s Stand Up for Liberty Who is Robyn Blumner? Perhaps she is simply your everyday editorialist for a daily newspaper. Or, as the former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida (ACLU), could she possibly have her own agenda? One of Blumner s columns entitled Let s stand up for liberty was published in a well known editorial writers magazine called The Masthead . In summary, it focuses on freedom of speech, and how we tend to lose sight of it, or even have it taken from us during national hardships. She feels that the government tends to deny us of these freedoms when we need them the most, during war. Blumner sturdily supports her claims throughout the course of her column. Instead, they chose to reflect the xenophobic [anti immigrant] views of their readership [par.16]. In support, she quotes from a professor of journalism, Joseph McKerns, to back her statement. McKerns asserts foreigners were the ones portrayed as a threat rather than merely exercising free speech [par.18]. He also alleges the daily press made a convenient separation, seeing the speech of the political activist as different from what it did [par.17]. By accentuating her interest of immigrant s rights, could it be she is supporting yet again, her past organization? Where do her priorities lie? So far we have identified her support of national freedom and immigrant s rights. Throughout the course of the article she also defends the rights of Japanese Americans, German Americans, and defends publishers that were prosecuted for violating the Espionage Act in wartime history. She may have valid claims, but she is still being biased. What about the natives of Iraq that gained liberties from the capture of Saddam Hussein? War doesn t always have viewed negatively. Apparently she was respected enough to be published. However, a little background on The Masthead is nothing more than an opinion writing magazine. Does this make her credible? I think not! These events occur periodically and usually register much media attention. As British Petroleum (BP) executives could not shut off the crude oil or prevent the damage it caused, people took notice. Millions of dollars in tourism, commerce and sales were lost. Thousands of wildlife acres and ecosystems were also compromised. There were more questions than answers. Without a strategy to locate the leak and cap it, there oil continued to devastate the land and water in the Gulf. Italy is located in southern Europe bordering countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over sixty million people, Italy has a capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed infrastructure. According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in the entire world and third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the GDP of Italy expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. From 1960 2013, the GDP growth rate averaged 63% per year. Their main industrial base is driven by producing high quality consumer goods. The main sectors in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery, textiles, food processing, shoes, clothing (fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector. Italy joined the European Union in 1952, and between then and now, their country has gone through growth rates well above 4%. However, after 1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below the European Union average. Ever since then, Italy s government has been trying to revive their economy by increasing the amount of public spending. In result, the public debt and budget deficit have attained unsustainable levels and the country has recently gone through a tough recession. • 25. The Rhetorical Analysis Of William Faulkner s Barn Burning Cold Metal, Hot Flame William Faulkner s Barn Burning is a well versed rendition of the post Civil War era, about the lives of a family of poor tenant farmers. This story s setting is in a fictional (yet almost familiar) county in Mississippi, and is told through the eyes of a young boy. In a detached sort of tone, Faulkner takes us step by step through the ups and downs of Abner s moods, and how his youngest son, Sarty, perceives them. Here is the thesis statement: However, it is Faulkner s style, tone, and use of long, flowing sentences, that most stand out to the reader. . In Barn Burning , Sarty s father, Abner, shows hostility to everyone around him and adds an unspoken element to the setting that you can feel and imagine as you read. You can instantly see how Sarty views his father, always comparing him to a cold hard metal that is tempered by a hot flame: He could see his father against the stars but without face or depth a shape black, flat, and bloodless as though cut from tin in the iron fold of the frockcoat which had not been made for him, the voice harsh like tin and without heat like tin (127). It is ironic for Abner to be compared to a cold metal, when he is totally consumed with a fiery hatred. The reader can almost feel Abner s deep dislike of anyone who owns anything or has money. Faulkner s descriptions are colorful, elaborate, and a key part of his style. Focusing on Abner, the reader senses he thrives off seeking revenge when he feels wronged, and he responds with his emotions and relates it to the destruction caused by fire. However, he only uses fire in what he feels to be extreme circumstances, because the element of fire spoke to some deep mainspring of his father s being, as the element of steel or of powder spoke to other men, as the one weapon for the preservation of integrity, else breath were not worth the breathing, and hence to be regarded with respect and used with discretion (127). Abner s mood is important to the setting in the way that speaks openly about Southern hostility and how it is almost always bottled up inside until the anger and resentment are no longer bearable. That s when the barns burn down. From the reader s point of view, the tone of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His songs have ranged from poetic folk songs that discuss social issues of the 1960s, to covers of very famous songs recorded with his own stylistic twist. He was one of the first rock artists whose lyrics were considered to be on par with works of literature (1)He has also been one of the only artists, to this day, that has been able to consistently affect listeners of any generation. Bob Dylan was born as Robert Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota on May 24, 1941. He grew up nearby in the small town of Hibbing, Minnesota. It was there, in Hibbing, where he learned to play guitar and set the foundation for his successful music career. Dylan attended Hibbing High School where he formed a band called The Golden Chords, which covered songs from the likes of Elvis Presley and Little Richard (2). The Golden Chords never achieved mainstream success and disbanded after the members graduated high school. • 32. Essay On Caravaggesque Artemisia Gentileschi and her art are finally receiving deserved scholarly attention. While much remains to be written about her, a great deal has been done to clarify her oeuvre since Roberto Longhi s pioneering efforts in 1916. Some of the underlying assumptions that guided Longhi in his evaluation of Artemisia Gentileschi and his attempt to set forth an oeuvre for her still dominate our thinking about her art. Primary among them is Artemisia s role as a caravaggesca, that is, her place as a follower of Caravaggio. In fact, initial viewing and evaluations of her work were done in the context of Caravaggio: before 1991, her work was seen almost exclusively in exhibitions devoted to assessing Caravaggio s influence and in surveys of his followers. Caravaggio was a revolutionary artist who used nature as the primary model in his paintings by recording the imperfections of the physical world and its inhabitants. Caravaggio s influence is credited with luring other artists to follow him in his use of darkened grounds and the substitution of the commonplace for more nobly conceived figures in idealized settings. The term caravaggesque, however, encompasses a range of qualities, including the recreation of tactile surfaces, the use of focused light sources that penetrate darkened interiors to bring isolated figures and objects into raised relief, the practice of designing and then painting compositions directly onto the canvas without preparatory drawings, and the ... For the most part, these early people of Europe could not read or write, and lived much as their nomadic ancestors had. In their isolation, they slowly cleared the forested areas for farming, but their greatest need was for protection. However, the need for protection grew to be most important when the Vikings from Scandinavia invaded many areas of Europe in the 8th and 9th centuries, followed by the Magyars, who came from the east in the late 9th century. In response, Europeans established feudalism as a way to unite and protect them. European feudal institutions revolved around political and military relationships. The feudal political order developed into a complicated network of lord vassal relationships, with lords having overlords, and overlords owing allegiance to kings. • 40. Loren Eiseley s Essay Brown Wasps The Brown Wasps by Loren Eiseley s essay demonstrates how human sense of place and self can be based on fantasy. Through his writing, he depicts humans and animals clinging to things they are very familiar with. Eiseley illustrates how humans and animals tend to act in a similar manner by comparing the homeless men who find shelter in train stations with the scenario of the wasp that continuously revisits its hive for accommodation. This is evident in the manner in which both men and wasps die in their special areas. Eiseley depicts homeless men coming to die to the train station benches as similar to the death of wasps in the paper homes. He notes that men sit and cling to benches at the train stations and at times fail to leave the benches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Richard Wagner and Opera Essay Richard Wagner and Opera One of the key figures in the history of opera, Wagner was largely responsible for altering its orientation in the nineteenth century. His program of artistic reform accelerated the trend towards organically conceived, through composed structures, as well as influencing the development of the orchestra, of a new breed of singer, and of various aspects of theatrical practice. As the most influential composer during the second half of the nineteenth century, Richard Wagner s conception of music remains very much with us even a century after his death. He was a remarkable innovator both in harmony and the structure of his work, creating his own version of the Gesamtkunstwerk, dramatic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Wagner, the function of music was to serve the ends of dramatic expression, and all of his most important compositions were composed for the theater. Particularly in Tannhauser, Wagner brilliantly adapted the substance of the German Romantic libretto to the framework of grand opera. The music evoked the opposite worlds of sin and blessedness with great emotional fervor and a luxuriant harmony and color. The Pilgrim s Chorus from this opera contains what is perhaps Wagner s most popular and widely known melody. Fatefully, despite his musical successes, things took a bad turn for Wagner when, in 1848, he was caught up in political revolution, and the next year he fled to Weimar where Franz Liszt helped him. Later he fled to Switzerland and France. Lohengrin was first performed under the direction of Franz Liszt at Weimar in 1850, and it is the last of Wagner s works that he ever referred to as an opera. Lohengrin embodies several changes prophetic of the Music Dramas that were to follow it. The story comes from medieval legend, but Wagner s treatment is generalized and symbolic. The technique of recurring themes was further developed, particularly with respect to the motives associated with Lohengrin and the Grail. Using Weber s Der Freischütz as a model to a certain extent, Wagner used tonality with his characters to help organize both the drama and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Viet Nam Essay Tactics in Vietnam were an important factor in the victory of the Vietcong over the U.S. There were fundamental differences in their fighting methods, which the Vietcong were able to take full advantage of. The Vietcong used Guerrilla warfare, this meant that they used their knowledge of the area they were fighting in to hinder the U.S. The U.S army had been used to conventional warfare, in the form of bouts of fighting. Guerrilla warfare meant that they had to be constantly alert and Booby traps meant that many soldiers died and witnessed horrific deaths. This was naturally unnerving for the soldiers concerned, particularly so because many of the soldiers were young and inexperienced. The technology of the U.S was far superior to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main tactic employed by the U.S was known as search and destroy . This meant hunting down and killing Vietcong. The Vietcong used a similar tactic called find and kill , although this was conceptually the same as search and destroy it was much more successful. One reason for this was that the U.S soldiers wore uniforms and were easier to pick out. Another reason was that the U.S soldiers had to contend with Vietcong mines and booby traps. These included what was known as a Punji trap, which was a deep hole filled with spikes covered with poison of faeces. Another was the Bouncing Betty which was a mine under the soil with three prongs that when steed on would explode. It was extremely disconcerting for soldiers to know that their next step could be their last. This caused a whole host of mental problems for the U.S soldiers. Booby traps accounted for %11 of deaths and %17 of wounds in the war. The U.S used pacification , to win the hearts and minds of the South Vietnamese. This meant that help was given to the villages. Schools and hospitals were built. This policy was a success; many South Vietnamese remained in support of the Americans and were immune to the persuasive talk of communist infiltrators. However those who were already convinced as to the virtues of communism would not be swayed. The Vietcong used statistics such as the tally of American planes being shot down, in order to keep up morale and keep the troops faithful and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Essay on Prayer in Public Schools Prayer in Public Schools An issue that has been constantly debated for years is whether voluntary prayer in public schools should be permitted. A student should be allowed to pray voluntarily at the beginning of each school day based on many reasons. Prayer based on moral beliefs reinforce good citizenship as defined by our forefathers. A daily reminder of a need for the belief of good over evil is a necessary part of this society. Daily voluntary school prayer should be re instated in public schools due to three reasons, the historical basis of the beginning of the United States government, the serious moral decline since prayer has been outlawed, and the government infringement on the constitutional guarantee of individual freedom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason for reinstating volunteer prayer in public schools comes from the fact that since prayer has been prohibited in public schools, the morality of the nation has declined. Since the Supreme Court outlawed prayer in public schools in 1960, the nation has seen a steady moral decline. There is a strong correlation between the expulsion of prayer in public schools and moral decline. Between the years of 1960 and 1990, the divorce rate has more than doubled, teenage pregnancy and teenage suicide has increased 250%. Child abuse is now at an all time high and since the end of school prayer, abortions have gone up more than 1000%. Universal principles of a civilized society are mandated by the Bible and re enforce by prayer. In the words of Ben Franklin, ? When we were subject to danger from the war with Great Britain, we met daily in this room to pray for Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard and graciously answered??Have we now forgotten our powerful Friend? Do we no longer need his assistance?? The coming together to pray daily provide support, re enforcement and fellowship to keep minds focused on good instead of evil. Many psychological studies have found that people who pray daily have spiritual faith in goodness as presented in Christianity suffer less depression and are less likely to commit suicide. Parents teach their children morals at home. These lessons of right and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
