Introduction The Civil War in Missouri began in 1861 with The Battle of Wilson s Creek. On August
10, 1861 Union and Confederate forces clashed in a town southwest of Springfield and struggled
bitterly for control of Missouri in the Civil War s first year.1
History Missouri, with its strategic position on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers was viewed by the
federal government as vital to Union success. This created a unique set of border state politics
between Missouri s residents and its leaders.
In 1861, Missourians could be divided into three political categories, conditional Unionists,
secessionists and unconditional Unionists. The majority of Missourians were conditional Unionists ...
Its ranks swelled with volunteers, many of whom hoped to see Missouri join the Confederacy.4
On June 11, 1861 Governor Jackson met with General Lyon in an attempt at compromise. After five
hours with no agreement Lyon declared war against all secessionists within Missouri and started
mobilizing his army. This began a two month campaign to drive the secessionists out of Missouri and
set into motion the events leading up to the Battle of Wilson s Creek.5 Planning/Preparation Lyon,
receiving reinforcements from Kansas, launched attacks that drove the newly formed Missouri State

Some employers may be working with a bully, and not even know it. The Office Bully by Kathryn
Hawkins mentions virtuous points of this concept. The issue with bullies is when you think you have
escaped from them, they can ultimately return and become your boss. Although you may think they
have potentially matured and progressed as people, they are actually still stagnant in an oppressing

What I usually tend to look for in an article is facts! The article notes, 13 percent of employees are
currently being bullied in the workplace, while 24 percent have experienced bullying from a coworker
or boss in the past , Bullies aren t always men either: according to the Zogby study, 40 percent of the
bullies reported were women, and more than 70 percent of the time, their targets were other women
(Hawkins, K. 2010) These facts have made the article much more relevant and as a reader we want to
know how reliable an article is, these facts have proven to be true because it is also supported by an
actual experience of a different person.
Opinions are different from facts. Opinions are usually a conclusion reached by someone. I learned
that there are two different opinions. There is the verifiable opinion and the expert opinion. This
article has a bit of both just because with verifiable opinion it can be shown to be true or shown to be
false, but then again you must always attribute them to the person who gave it, Kathryn Hawkins
states, many bullies will continue to emotionally abuse others throughout their lives (Hawkins, K.
2010). An individual cannot generalize and automatically think that many bullies will continue to be

system consist of gender biases, cultural biases, and the lack of rehabilitative resources/social support.
Mandatory minimum sentencing and substance abuse also play a role in increased incarceration rates.
When a crime is committed, the offender is taken to court where a judge will determine if the offender
is innocent or guilty. If the offender is found guilty, the penalties may include the following;
community service, a fine, or incarceration for a certain amount of time depending on the severity of
the crime committed. The purpose of the Canadian prison system is to serve justice to both society,
and the law breaker. Justice is served to society by punishing criminals with isolation from society at
large. The criminal is served justice through receiving rehabilitation in order to successfully
reintegrate into society, once released from incarceration. The focus of Canadian prisons should first

Harper Lee is the author of a very beloved book known as To Kill a Mockingbird. This book resonates
with us because it brings issues into the light that, at the time, were difficult to discuss. To Kill a
Mockingbird, is incredibly different from her other book newer novel Go Set a Watchman. She
originally wrote Go Set a Watchman, and then it was her publisher that told her the story would have a
greater impact if set from a younger Scout s perspective. How the publisher was able to see the
potential that the story had, I find to be fascinating. Personally, I did not enjoy Go Set a Watchman
like I did To Kill a Mockingbird. I feel that this is partly due to the order of how we read the books. It

Then as the story went on, her love interest of Henry Clinton began to become too prominent as well

Baldwin swamp is an urban wetland, located in the heart of Bundaberg, providing a habitat to a range

Therefore there was a recorded 8 birds, 1 dove, 5 magpie goose and 2 pacific black duck, 3 weeks
after the floods. By 2017 the total of 8 birds, 3 species have now increased to a total of 25 birds, 6

Swamp. In 2009 the Baldwin swamp was flourishing with a large diversity of species. A total of 33
macroinvertebrates, 8 species were recorded. At this time the baldwin swamp was healthy, abundant in
life and the ecosystem and food webs were unaffected by the floods. Whereas 3 weeks after the floods
swept through there were little to no range of species of macroinvertebrates. There were a recorded

Star Wars: A New Hope and The Outsiders are not as different as most might expect. The pair of
stories feature many heroes throughout, focusing on Luke Skywalker and Ponyboy Curtis. Both of
these stories were originally books, before being adapted into movies. The Hero s Journey follows a
narrative pattern that applies to nearly every story line there has ever been. The journey applies to both
Star Wars: A New Hope and The Outsiders. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton follows a young boy living
in rural Oklahoma, who is part of a gang of teenagers called Greasers. Ponyboy and his friends are
constantly up against the opposing social group, the Socials, creating conflict between the two groups.
Star Wars: A New Hope, directed by George Lucas, is one of the most famous movies of all time,

This novel inherently queers the idea of normality by challenging the unstated norm. The idea of
normality is a social constructed idea, based upon the concepts that there is an inherent normal .

The cost of school pictures and year books can be anywhere between $25 and $100 per child. Then
there are activities such as sports, clubs, and field trips. My parents despised the day I brought home a
fundraiser packet. Public schools push this on parents because children see the prizes not the prices.
One year I sold candy for a school fundraiser. My brother and I ended up eating more than I sold, and
this left my parents having to pay $156 for what was missing. Otherwise, my grade card would have
been withheld.
