Case Study Of Vivian
The killer didn t bother responding to the woman s final message, and instead, continued on with his
initial research. It didn t take long for the killer to discover more information on Vivian, her date and
place of birth, hopsital records, previous residences, schooling exams, college application and
employment history, and the more he discovered the more he was encouraged that indeed she was who
and what she said she was. The most interesting discovery was her medical records, and the man s
eyes furrowed in an expression of curiosity as he scrolled through the list of her prescriptions, and
then eventually came to her diagosis. Unlike Pete Norris, who was perfectly sane, and completely
aware of the inhumanity of his acts, but perpetrated them anyway because he enjoyed it, it appeared
that was another driver behind Vivian s cravings. That didn t concern Pete, as long as she was sane
and normal, in his terminolohy, when they eventually met. Which he was now more confident of that
they would. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Parks And Recreation
The Office vs. Parks and Recreation On March 24th 2005, The Office aired for the first time. It was an
exceptional show because it introduced comedy in a new light. On April 9th 2009, Parks and
Recreation aired for the first time. This was also a show that presented comedy and a way very similar
to The Office. The two shows share a shocking amount of similarities; however, the shows do have a
lot of differences that make them unique in their own way. The Office and Parks and Recreation are
both shows about a group of people who have somewhat boring desk jobs, but make the best of it and
have an amusing time doing so. In The Office, Michael Scott is the reginal manager of a paper
company called Dunder Mifflin. In Parks and Recreation, Leslie

Personal Reflection
As I was reading this book, I kept having awe moments because I have either seen the material
covered in real time or have thought about it. Out of the five career strategy components, the two that
stood out for me were extending experiences and networking/connecting. Reflecting on my
educational and professional career, these two themes have been the most relevant.
Extending experiences When I graduated from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), I expected to get a job
within the month. I believed that by simply having my degree I would stand out from the group, little
did I know this was completely false. I had a resume with little experience and realized it was my lack
of previous experiences that would haunt me. In addition to having little experience, I never visited a
career counselor at UCSB to assist me with the proper structure of a resume and cover letter. Feeling
unprepared and disappointed at myself about how I used my time while at UCSB, I fell into a minor
depression. After every denial email from employers, my depression grew. However, it was one
experience that truly shaped my job search perception. I applied to any and every job in the market
and got the opportunity to interview for AT T for a clerk position. Going into the job interview I had
high hopes because I knew I had the discipline. When I entered the office where the interview was
being held, the hiring manager asked me a few questions about myself and then he stopped. He was
looking over my resume and

Who Is Abraham Lincoln A Good President
The best US president was easily Abraham Lincoln. He accomplished a lot of things as president such
as putting an end to slavery as well as he had plenty of amazing speeches that had some of the best
quotes and these together made the people love him.
The way president Lincoln ended slavery was tactful and necessary. He initially started as antislavery
and transitioned to emancipation. The quote Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation
Proclamation, declaring all slaves in rebel states should be free as of Jan. 1, 1863, (Paul) expresses
how he even had a preliminary proclamation to test the waters first. If it wasn t a gradual change away
from slavery then the southern states would have detached from the rest of the US and been their own
country where slavery was allowed. The way Abraham Lincoln did this was by instating laws that
forbade slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the more famous ones is described as he issued a stirring plea for the country to pay them
tribute by honoring principles liberty, equality worth dying for (Time Inc.). He had so many good
quotes he even had a memorial named after him filled with his quotes. They are inscribed on the seat
he sits in and in the walls all around it. His famous speeches are also within the memorial for the
people to read.
Most people love Abraham Lincoln due to his great speeches and having abolished slavery. These are
great because a great leader needs to be loved by the people. There was never a profound leader who
wasn t loved by the people he ruled over. Even some communists that accomplished grand goals were
loved by their people.
In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln is the best president. He helped abolish slavery, he had excellent
speeches, and was loved by many of the people of and beyond his time. These are what make him a
great president worthy of being called the best.

The Chernobyl Disaster And The Fukushima Nuclear Disaster
Uranium, which is the ninety second element on the periodic table, is a very interesting element. The
radioactive uranium is used in atomic bombs. Also, people use it in what is called nuclear power, an
energy source that fourteen percent of the world uses. (NPR 3) In a nuclear power plant, a process
called fission that uses uranium is used to generate power. During fission, each uranium atom is
bombarded by neutrons, causing each uranium atom to turn into one atom of barium, one atom of
krypton, and three neutrons. These three neutrons bombard other uranium atoms, resulting in more
neutrons being produced and creating a chain reaction. Each time the uranium atom split, energy is
released. The leftover atoms are called nuclear waste. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I mentioned before, uranium is used in atomic bombs. So, uranium mines are very dangerous and
nuclear power is not safe. Right? I disagree. Uranium mines have created ways to reduce radiation
levels to their workers whenever they can and limits as how much radiation is allowed in a uranium
mine. Also, people have spent over forty years already creating safety regulations for uranium mines.
Finally, there is not enough uranium in a uranium mine for either of those to blow up like an atomic
bomb. (World Nuclear Association 4) As a result of these safety protections during uranium mining,
there has only been 371 deaths due to uranium mining contamination between 1950 and 2000, which
is an average of around only 7.42 deaths per year. (Motherboard 2) In comparison, coal mining had an
average of 16 deaths per year in 2014. (MSHA

Understanding Piaget Theory And Information Processing Theory
The study of Cognitive theories has many different aspects that have been debated many years ago.
Developmental psychologists try to explain cognitive development approaches which describe the
process of human s thought. One of the developmental psychologist who studied on the area of
cognitive was Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget a Swiss psychologist was the first developmental researcher
who has extensive research on cognitive development. In addition, the revolution of Jean Piaget s
cognitive theory has changed the development psychology forever. In fact, although this theory is one
of the most influential theories that have had a major impact on child s cognitive development, many
developmental psychologist has been criticized it as well(Miller,2007). Therefore, the limitations of
this theory made the developmental psychologists thinking of information processing theory might
complete Piaget s Theory(Miller,2007). Information processing theory is another theory that was
engaged in the era of cognitive development. It is possible to better understand Piaget theory and
Information Processing theory by comparing several important aspects of developmental psychology:
nature of humans, quantitative or qualitative, and nature or nurture.
Piaget Cognitive Theory
To begin with, Piaget s cognitive theory has four stages. According to Miller,2011 she states that
Piaget described each stage and referred them to the ability of human understanding. First stage is the

Social Darwinism And Natural Selection
It is almost undeniable that the technologies cause rapid changes in human relationships, cultures, and
societies. While it enormously facilitates us in nearly every aspect of our life, such changes also create
consequences that we do not yet realize. Almost all of us know Darwinism and Natural Selection in
the biological field, but we often overlook the similar phenomena in the social aspect. In fact,
resemble to the way we adapt to our physical environment, we also adapt to our social environment in
order to survive and excel in our social relationships. Such adaption is called Social Darwinism.
Because technologies have significantly influenced our social environment, humans are forced to
adapt not only to technologies, but also to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason behind such decision is that unless in urgent situations, other people expect them to text,
the technology that is more prevalent and requires less effort to respond than phone (Turkle 375).
Although Tara and Leonora are discontent, but do not feel they have a choice. This is where
technology has brought them (Turkle 375). From those examples, we can easily observe that because
the notions of using certain technology have already became parts of our general social roles, people
can no longer resist the influence of it regardless of our feeling.
In the meantime, we are also forced to mentally adapt popularity and efficiency, the core values of
modern technologies. In analogy, humans evolve (in the bigger and smaller scale) not only because of
our side environment, but also the pressure under the notion that only the fittest among us can survive.
In the comparison between phone calls and texts, texts are not any more technologically advanced
than phone calls are. However, we in general still prefer texts, and intentionally or unintentionally
make others around us use them because of the efficiency behind them. Moreover, when the
popularity of texts is accumulated, such preference becomes further irreversible. Back to the context
of expectations and social roles, we enjoy popularity as the outcome of pluralism, the conformity of
social roles and expectation. In

Lack Of Training On Drug Disposal
Low concentrations of pharmaceuticals have been detected in the natural environment throughout the
world. They vary in composition, and can remain in the environment for months to years. Although a
portion of this pollution is from veterinary pharmaceuticals used for the treatment of pasture animals,
there is still a significant amount of pollution that derives from pharmaceuticals found in prescribed
and over the counter medications for humans (Boxall et al., 2012). Health care providers are
responsible for adhering to the regulations that govern the disposal and elimination of pharmaceuticals
within their respective workplace. Due to the vast amount of time spent with patients, nurses have a
special role in the prevention of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An alternative method to flushing is to mix the unwanted medications with an undesirable substance
such as coffee in a container, and place it in the trash (McCullagh, Schim, Ortner, 2012). Mixing helps
to hide and reduce the use of the drugs from drug abusers and seekers (school nursing). The
disadvantage of disposing medications in the trash is that landfills can often times run off, and access
the water supply (Taras, Haste, Berry, Tran, Singh, 2014). In the hospital setting, most inpatient
medications go directly down the drain (Strauch, 2011). Diluting is another method that involves
adding a solution to a medication to minimize its effects. Pharmaceuticals are dangerous to the
environment, because of their ability to cause change.
Long term care facilities and hospices are the primary sectors of the healthcare community that
contribute to environmental pollution. Hospice home care and home health nurses have a unique part
in aiding the efforts to reduce unsafe elimination and disposal of pharmaceuticals. They provide end of
life care to patients, and teach caregivers to manage, store, and dispose medications in a safe manner
(McCullagh et al., 2012). They are also responsible for documenting the disposal of medications.
Typically, patients in these settings have frequent changes in medications, and are usually with
polypharmacy. According to Blake,

How Women Has Impacted The State Of Texas

H.R. No. 1445 HR 1445 is a bill passed on March 26, 2015 in the 84th Texas Legislature to recognize
March 2015 as Women s History Month. Jessica Farrar is a democratic from District 148 and
sponsored this bill (Open States). I chose this bill because, quoting from the bill itself, it provides an
ideal opportunity to acknowledge the historic contributions made by women in the Lone Star State and
beyond (Farrar). First, the bill discusses about how women have played crucial roles since the Texas
Republic was found. Then, the bill later on details about some of the actual women that have impacted
the state of Texas greatly: Minnie Fisher Cunningham, Hortense Sparks Ward, Edna Gladney, Oveta

Oveta Culp Hobby is known for her many achievements. She was the first director of the Women s
Army Corps and built an army from nothing (Farrar). Later on, she became a cabinet member for
President Eisenhower and was the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. We remember her
today because she is the reason why women received opportunities to join the army (Oveta Culp
Hobby). Frances Farenthood was a lawyer and politician from Texas. She was the runner up vice
president candidate to be nominated for that position for the election of 1972, making her the first
woman to actually be viable for this position (it was very close, she lost at 48% of votes) Also, she
campaigned for governor of Texas twice, but lost. (Frances Sissy Farenthold). Texas second female
governor, Ann Richards left a huge impact on the Lone Star State. She fought for women s and
minorities rights and was well liked by many people because of her humor and wittiness. Even after
failing to be re elected (she lost to George W. Bush), she still cared about the people very much and
continued to speak about equal rights for all (Ann Richards Biography). Barbara Jordan was the first
African American congresswoman and first African American in the Texas Senate. Another highlight
about her life was that she was also the first African American women to deliver the keynote

and acted on what he saw through films and magazines ( Paul Bernardo: Criminal Biography, 2017).
By viewing this inappropriate media, he knew what type of woman he lusted after; one that was
submissive and eager to please him ( Paul Bernardo: Criminal Biography, 2017). Later on in life,
Bernardo was known for doing multiple attacks against women in the late 80s in Scarborough,
Canada, but became known for the deaths of three high school girls; Tammy Lyn Homolka, Leslie

Identification means the steps needed in the analysis of unknown fluids to see what the substance is (
Biology, 2016). Individualization determines whether a certain individual may or may not be the
donor of a bodily substance by examining various markers ( Biology, 2016). Processing biological
trace evidence uses highly complex, automated technology to create a DNA profile that helps the
investigators through the association of suspects to victims and to crime scenes ( Biology Services,
2017). By using techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR), forensic biologists can use
variable markers found on the regular chromosomes (STR s), the sex chromosomes (Y STR s) and
within the mitochondrial DNA to distinguish one person s DNA from another to a high degree of
certainty ( Biology, 2016). Forensic biologists are involved in assisting investigative agencies because
police were led to Bernardo by a police sketch ( Serial Killers: Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka,
2013). The police took DNA (hair, blood and saliva) from Bernardo as a matter of routine to test it
against specimens found on a rape victim s clothing (Butts, n.d.). Forensic biologists were able to
name the substances left on Kristen French s body and match it to Bernardo s DNA by processing it.
On February 17th, 1995, Bernardo was arrested for the murders of Mahaffy, French, and the
Scarborough rapes (Butts,

Pseudo Accommodative Approach To Presbyopia
Presbyopia is the loss of lens accommodation that results in an age related inability to focus at close
distances. The correction of presbyopia without resorting to spectacles and contact lenses (CL)

Accommodative and pseudo accommodative approaches treating presbyopia surgically exist.
Accommodative approaches attempt to restore the true, dynamic and continuous range of the
defocusing ability of the eye. Pseudo accommodative approaches provide functional near vision from
a variety of non accommodative factors.

William Paley s Argument For The Existence Of God
A design argument is more commonly know as a Teleological one, which is an argument for the
existence of a creator or god based on perceived evidence of deliberate design in the natural or
physical world .The argument has been discussed all the way back to the time of Socrates and Plato.
In my essay I will be evaluating one argument put forward by a famous philosopher, in this case
William Paley, an English clergyman born in 1743, in which he tries to show similarities in the design
of nature and the design of man made artefacts.
William Paley s Theological argument for the existence of God raises quite a few questions from the
offset of Paley s book Natural Theology. The first piece of evidence that he uses to argue his point is
his analogy of him stumbling upon a stone in a field and wondering how it came to be there , Paley
states that he could argue that it would be acceptable to believe that the stone had stayed there forever
due to the fact he has no prior knowledge of how it came to be there. Paley shows us that we as
humans take a lot of things for granted in our lives due to the fact that we have ... Show more content

does hurt Paley s analogy because he did believe in a benevolent God and the idea of any Gods
helping each other to create the universe or even the possibility of multiple Gods would mean that
there was no benevolent God because one could not create the world on its own. This is a very
important question because it endangers Paley s argument and from reading the chapters on the design
argument in paley sI do not believe Paley takes in to account the possibility of more than one God
existing and because of this I believe he ignores a serious way to disprove his own

E commerce
Explain what is meant by the term E commerce .
It is the conducting of business communication and transactions over networks and through
computers. As most restrictively defined, electronic commerce is the buying and selling of goods and
services, and the transfer of funds, through digital communications. However EC also includes all
inter company and intra company functions (such as marketing, finance, manufacturing, selling, and
negotiation) that enable commerce and use electronic mail, EDI, file transfer, fax, video conferencing,
workflow, or interaction with a remote computer.
Electronic commerce also includes buying and selling over the Web, electronic funds transfer, smart

Besides, E commerce is also considerably fast and means that the business will be more efficient.
Furthermore, saves costs, as the business does not have the costs associated with running the business.
They do not have to pay for such things as lighting, electricity, and fittings.
With ecommerce the user has the ability to search for their product without having to look around
shops in a time consuming manner. In fact the information is at their finger tips and can be accessed
within minutes without even having to leave your home unlike shopping on the high street.
There are also many disadvantages to ecommerce and these are mainly to do with the exchanging of
information over the internet and the security measures that this entails. Every time a transaction is
made, it is often a credit card number that is submitted over the
Internet. There are many consumers today that still refrain from the practice for fear of a third party
obtaining their card numbers or other personal information
Also, as the internet is accessed by millions and possibly billions of people every day the information
that is exchanged can be accessed by people who know how to, this information can be protected with
the use of certain software and the advice of people who are experienced in this field, but this costs
money and more than often small companies who have tight profit margins do not always give the
customers the protection that they

Guantanamo Bay And Human Rights Essay
Guantanamo Bay and Human Rights Guantanamo Bay, which is a detention camp located in Cuba, is
always a controversy human right related topic. People always refer Guantanamo as one of the worst
prison in the world. Many people believe that the Guantanamo violates human rights; the prisoners in
Guantanamo are treated inhumanely comparing to the other prisons located in the United States. Some
argue that U.S. should close Guantanamo while the other say it should remain open. The goal of this
paper is to investigate how Guantanamo violates human right and why the United States government
should close it. It will discuss some solutions to end torturing the detainees in Guantanamo.
Furthermore, it will explain the difficulties of closing Guantanamo Bay and the underlying reasons
behind it. In this research paper, I will first present a brief history and facts of Guantanamo Bay.
Answering the questions about what is Guantanamo and what it is for. Next, I will discuss how
Guantanamo has violated human rights and how Guantanamo tortures the detainees with three
shocking examples. The next subtopic is several reasons to close Guantanamo Bay majorly due to
human rights violation. The fourth subtopic investigates why Guantanamo Bay is still remained open

choose to represent this by scattering around music notes on all sides since it was sort of like a rock
concert .The uneven colorful patches all around them stands for the commotion and mix up after the
rednecks came in . This is one of the factors that cause her to have an asthma attack and he calms her
down and grabs her tightly . I drew her with her hand on him to show her being calmed down. He
makes her feel safe , this is why I drew them close .As her aunt does not come to pick her up ,she sobs
and he again comforts her closely . The bright color represents her enthusiasm for meeting such an
interesting guy to talk to . Almost like a brother . This scene is important because it is the start of her

I Choose to represent this by drawing two hands wine wine in them. This shows the alcohol involved

flames is red , this is to represent the color of passion which is what goes on as he grabs her . As my
main background , I used black, this is to show the time of day for this event , past midnight . The
word NO is in print capital letters this is to to show her disapproval when he rapes her . She states
reasons and says No. Still his response was the same there was no answer he just did it and left. All
these elements are needed because this scene is so purposeful . Its purposeful because it shows how a

Stephane Hessel
Stephane Hessel, the writer of this article, is trying to tell the young people of today to constitute
change. He utilizes his experience in the National Council of the Resistance to portray the different
ways this organization helped fight Nazism. One of the things he mentioned the council achieved was
the lifting of restrictions on press freedom from 1944 on. His message of not just disagreeing with a
subject but going out, doing something about it and making a difference delivers a strong message. He
s basically telling everyone to not just be a bystander and watch things happen but MAKE them
happen. Additionally, he notes that being indignant about an issue/subject is to be treasured. Treasured
because in this world you can take action against that particular matter and make a change or pave the
way for change. In this sense, I agree with him as well, there are countries in the world where people
cannot change their circumstances and luckily, we are not one of those. As pointed out by the writer

Pawel Kuczynski s Art Essay
Phones are the easiest and most common way to get connected. Through his art, Pawel Kuczynski is
warning the audience of problems that phones cause among people. The artist has created many
paintings to convey the idea of technology causing people to become separated and disconnected from
one another. Kuczynski s art could be seen as a metaphor for young people, being connected through
technology but still isolated in loneliness. Phones are most likely the most commonly used source of
communication in the world; which begs the question of how they could possibly be disconnecting
people. The title alone, Islands, suggests to the audience a sense of distance and isolation. That is also
conveyed in the painting itself with the use of perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title again has reference to the picture but doesn t convey the actual meaning. There is a person
scrolling through their phone while the snow falls. The person has been there so long that a snow man
was made on his back. This another great use of satire by Kuczynski. He has developed such a playful
way of calling attention to these overarching societal problems that no one really seems to be talking
about. The person in the picture isn t really living his life. All of his time has been consumed with the
phone that only has virtual images on it. It s crazy how technology has done the opposite of what it
was intended to do. Instead of playing in the snow with his friends his just sitting out in the cold all
alone. Every time I go out I notice fewer people communicating with one another verbally. The
common thought is that social media, phones, and just technology in general connects people of all
kinds across the globe. Connecting with people through the use of technology has a few positives but
what about the overwhelming negative aspects. Millions of people can connect to children and other
adults with horrifying intentions. Cyberbullying is becoming prevalent in schools. Kids are being
exposed to things they shouldn t be. Predators lurk online all the time. Technology is expanding every
day and more people are able to gain access to it. A CNN article stated that

In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson, the story follows Ruth and Lucille as they pass through the
care of their mother, grandmother, great aunts, and finally their mother s transient sister, Sylvie. While
Ruth is generally passively accepting of the care or lack thereof that she receives from these women,
no matter how unconventional, Lucille purposefully sets herself against Sylvie. After existing outside
of the boundaries that society imposes for the majority of her adult life, Sylvie is unable to provide the
structured normality to which Lucille so desperately cleaves. In their own methods of seeking
happiness, Sylvie prefers a fluid way of housekeeping, while Lucille needs strict adherence to
convention. The polar relationship that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even while Sylvie is trying to live without boundaries, in the way that she claims makes her feel the

for a moment, and then she began carefully, tie by tie, out onto it. Slowly she walked on and on, until
she was perhaps fifty feet out over the water... I ve always wondered what it would be like. (81 82)
Sylvie knows that the only way to live unrestricted is to die, much the way Helen did. In reality,
however, society even places restrictions death. While the decedent may not be sentient and aware of

In extreme contrast, Lucille has boundaries, and if society has an expectation, Lucille is going to

Commentary On The Book Thief In The Orc By Triad
This short book had an interesting storytelling technique in that you just got thrown into the middle of
two men with a history together, and you really had no clue what was going on. Even by the end of the
book I still wasn t real clear what their past entailed and what they had meant to each other or what
they meant to each other by the end. JT, the orc, is a mechanic who I think was a car thief in the past,
and Austin, an elf, is still the same slick con man who he s always been. Everything in this story is
based on the men s backstory, but that backstory is never fully conceptualized. There are brief
flashbacks into the men s relationship (well, it was basically just a sex scene), but they were a bit
confusing as to time and place in relation to what is happening in the present. Normally the only time I
feel lost in a book is when it s a series and it s not a stand alone book, but this book skated the edge in
a lot of areas.
Austin and JT hadn t seen each other in two years, and Austin bribes JT into helping rescue a friend of
theirs by offering JT a stolen car. Their mutual friend, Buzz, had stolen some virtual information and
was being hunted by Chinese Triad. What had me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m sure there will be other books to come which will delve into this world and the explanations will
be much deeper, but it was a little irritating in this story. The narrative is pretty rough and tough...not
much sentiment in this story. This is a guy s story, and the sex is definitely guys sex. For a while, I
thought Buzz was going to be the third man in a love triangle, but only he and JT had a sexual
relationship, well, not so much a relationship as a hookup. JT and Austin both have sex with other
people multiple times in the book, so if this is an issue for a reader, you should probably stay away
from this story. The sex is rough and smutty, nothing gentle or sweet between these

Tetra-Amelia Syndrome
Tetra Amelia syndrome is a very rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs. ( Tetra is
the Greek word for four , and Amelia refers to the failure of an arm or leg to develop before birth.)
This syndrome can also cause severe malformations of other parts of the body, including the face and
head, heart, nervous system, and skeleton. The lungs are underdeveloped in many cases, which makes
breathing difficult or impossible. Because children with tetra amelia syndrome have such serious
medical problems, most are stillborn or die shortly after birth. Tetra Amelia syndrome has been
reported in only a few families worldwide. Management of persons who survive will depend on the

Notes on Significant Religious Events and People in History
The Council of Trent was fairly important in its role of stratifying the Christian Church. The council
occurred over a period of nearly 20 years in Italy and was initiated by the Roman Catholic Church.
There were a number of points of contention that the council was able to satisfy with other
components of Christianity, namely those pertaining to the Protestant movement that was still
relatively new at the time. Essentially, the council was able to formalize proceedings and practices for
several sacraments and other conceptions of Christianity including notions of original sin and the
Eucharist. The Hanseatic League occurred approximately between the 13th and the 17th centuries
along the coastline of the Northern part of Europe. What the league was initially formed for was to
secure trade for merchants who traveled outside of their native cities. It involved cities in various parts
of Germany and Holland, among other nations. Trade guilds and those for merchants helped to
develop many of the measures that were implemented by the guild in attempts to protect the economic
interests of European cities when their merchants traveled abroad to inherently import and export
goods. The Society of Jesus was the principle organization that engendered the modern day scion of
Christianity whose members are known as Jesuits. This society was initially formed by Ignatius in the
early part of the 16th century. Ignatius developed this organization in accordance with the will of the

Music Education And Its Effect On Education
The German philosopher, Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, referred to a life without music as a mistake (
Don t ). Unfortunately, many children never get the opportunity to discover the fulfillment that music
can bring to their lives. They are denied this chance by an unfair educational system. Music education
is beneficial to the student throughout his entire life, thus it should not be cast aside and neglected as it
often is in the public school system today, but instead schools should do just the opposite; treat music
education as a priority.
The evidence makes clear the benefits of playing a musical instrument on students abilities to perform
academically. For example, the Harmony Project is an after school program that provides music
lessons to children from underprivileged neighborhoods of California. Ninety three percent of seniors
in the program have graduated from high school in four years and gone on to college. This is truly
incredible when one considers that the communities where the program takes place have dropout rates
of over 50% (Turner). One explanation for this significant improvement is the direct impact playing
music has on the students brains. A study conducted by Nina Kraus, a neurobiologist at Northwestern
University, demonstrates this impact. By running tests on the program s members, Kraus data suggests
students who had studied music for two years were better at processing speech than those who had
been in the program for only one year (Turner).

The Disillusionment Of Optimism In Candide, By Voltaire
In the novel Candide, Voltaire satirizes the disillusionment of optimism by depicting a multitude of
hardships seen around the world. Candide, the open minded protagonist, has been exposed to Pangloss
s optimistic philosophy for the majority of his life. However, throughout the course of the novel, it
becomes increasingly difficult to see the positive side of all the catastrophe surrounding him. It is only
after he starts doubting this philosophy that Candide starts to become influenced by the teachings of
Martin. Although Candide resides in security at the conclusion, Voltaire draws on the disastrous events
seen throughout the novel and utilizes Martin s pessimistic point of view to claim that human nature is
incomplete without suffering. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a way, Martin acts as the embodiment of Voltaire s opinions, as the author constantly satirizes
optimism in the novel. For example, when Candide sees Vanderdendur s ship sink after stealing
Candide s money, he comments that crime is sometimes punished (Voltaire 93). This statement itself
inherently points to the loss of optimism within Candide, as he admits that some crime does go
unpunished. Furthermore, Martin draws truth the innate evil of the world by pointing out that the devil
has drowned the rest (94) of the ship s members. Even though the bad deed of the Dutch captain had
been punished, it came with the effect of killing a larger amount of innocent men. Through this
sequence of events, Voltaire thus states that a righteous event can only occur at the expense of
inflicting suffering upon others. The end of the novel places Pangloss and Martin together on the farm
in Constantinople, and it is in this tranquil setting that readers find the most revealing truths of
humanity. At this point, the pessimism of Martin has become such a large influence that even
Cacambo and the old woman draw similar conclusions about humanity. While on the farm, Martin
makes his final judgment and states that the restlessness of anxiety or ... the lethargy of boredom (140)
are the only choices man could make in life. Both of these choices represent

Propaganda Techniques In Today s Advertising
The business of advertising is a business built on the manipulation of consumers. Companies utilize
several different tactics to instill a desire for their product in their target audience. The California
Almonds Advertisement in the January February 2012 edition of Weight Watchers magazine creates a
desire for its product by utilizing enriching word, appealing images and subtle hidden messages. The
California Almonds advertisement first encourages a desire for its product by using enriching words
such as loves, desire, nutrient rich, healthy and nourish. According to an avid almond consumer, Lorri
Izzo stated that she felt the words Nutrient rich, desire, love and nourish were all words that she said
made her want to eat almonds. Anthony Izzo, another almond consumer, also stated that the same
words that Mrs. Izzo pointed out stood out to him as well. The author of Propaganda Techniques in
Today s Advertising , Ann McClintock, states that some advertisers use a form of propaganda known
as Card stacking. Card stacking is when the advertisers only tell half truths or omit certain details to
convince the target audience to buy their product. This propaganda technique is utilized in the
California Almonds advertisement because they use a half truth that states that Just a handful (of
almonds) a day can nourish your heart by helping you maintain healthy cholesterol levels. This is
partially true, yet very false at the same time. If one looks down at the very small

Summary of Introduction to the New Edition
In Stuart Ewen s All Consuming Images, the preface Introduction to the New Edition opens by giving
the audience varying progressing images, from break dance to Madonna to Windows 95. This
demonstrates a fast change in society: what matters in the history may not be an important issue now.
Ewen then questions how a book written earlier still remains important and deserves republication.
The book is durable because of the fact that it was written when the idea images are everywhere
begins to develop. From political stand point, all the images, or specifically propaganda, that people

outside your caste your marriage will never be favored. If a couple still goes ahead and proceeds with

Fate And Free Will In Julius Caesar
The context of individuals affects their perspectives of continuing human affairs. Julius Caesar was
written by William Shakespeare in 1599 during the English Renaissance and The Prince was
composed in the 16th century by an Italian diplomat, Niccolo Machiavelli. Both composers represent
the ideas of fate and free will and ambition and the struggle for power through various literary and
dramatic techniques. Due to both composer s contexts, they are able to convey the ideas and
perspectives of ongoing human concerns to the responder.
The context of both composers helps to demonstrate how fate and free will is contrasted with political

In The Prince, the changing of roles that was taking place in Florence at the hands of the Medici
family were shown to be driven by a desire for increased power. Machiavelli metaphorically states
that the Roman Emperor, Septimius Severus, was feared and respected by all parties and he managed
to avoid being hated by the army. By stating that the Emperor was a fox and a lion , Machiavelli leads
the responder to consider that his ambition for power was achieved by using false teamwork: the lion
can t defend itself against snares and the fox can t defend itself from wolves. So you have to play the
fox to see the snares and the lion to scare off the wolves . The ambition for too much power is

Whisky Facts
Some Facts About Whiskey or Whisky
By Ed Elam
Jun 15, 2012
When discussing whisky the first thing that needs to be know is that there are two legitimate spellings.
The Scotts and Canadians spell whisky without the e , while the Irish and Americans spell it with an e
as in whiskey. This should be the first indication that the world of whisky is a very complicated one
and has many regional differences in taste and production. This is part of what makes whisky such an
interesting and enjoyable spirit.
Â
Historically it is believed that the Irish were the first to make whiskey, however the Scotts have also
laid claim to being the first whisky producers. The Irish used the term uisce beatha ( Water of Life in
Gaelic) to describe whiskey, so it must have been important.

In Scotland the malted barley is roasted over open peat fires to dry, this results in the grain picking up
the peat flavour. In Ireland, the malted barely is dried in closed ovens, and is never exposed to the
smoke. The process of mashing and fermentation is much the same for both countries. In the
distillation step, the Irish, most of the time, distill their product three times, which results in a very
pure distillate which makes Irish whiskey exceptionally smooth. The Scottish distill their product
twice and this results in more flavour in the spirit.
Â
In North America there is Canadian whisky and American whiskey, which has a number of regional
classifications including Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey. Each product in North America is unique
and is regulated by the government. Canadian whisky is the number one imported spirit into the
United States and is second in consumption only to vodka.

John Stuart Mill s Definition Of Quality
John Stuart Mill s definition of quality can be broken down distinctively into four separate definitions.
When evaluating pleasures, J. S. Mill alleged the quality of particular pleasures is determined by how
much pleasure the person obtains from the pleasure, in addition to, how just the pleasure is
beneficially to society. Moreover, Mill argued against ...Bentham s purely quantitative view of
pleasure. Without denying that quantity is a consideration in the calculation of pleasure, Mill believed
that it is not as important as the consideration of quality (MILL S VERSION: QUALITY OVER
QUANTITY ). Therefore, the following details Mill explicates quality and quantity, exemplifying
each of these ideas. First, quality may be defined as the qualities, properties or powers of something.
For example, raindrops have the quality of being small, clear and wet. Meaning, when it rains, the
raindrops hold the power to produce, in a humans mind, the idea and/or feeling of being small, clear
and wet. This idea of quality simply means the power something has. In a second sense, when the
word quality is opposed to quantity , it is a name or label under which we class the properties or
qualities that something possesses other than quantity (Vergara 5). The following compares two items
that only differ in quantity, but not quality. For example, the quality of two bottles filled with the same
type of water has the same quality, however, the quantity of the water differs. Whereas,

Since information is power, any employees that discloses confidential information threatens the
financial health of the company. Non compete agreements also protect the investment that has been

Benefits of Non Compete Agreements? Non compete agreements will also protect your customer
relationships. This is because sometimes when an employee leaves, their clients may faithfully follow.
Therefore, non compete agreements will increase the client confidence and retention. Non compete
agreements also help to clarify the professional expectations for employees, which will improve their
behavior with clients. What Happens if the Employee Breaks the Non Compete Agreement? A court
ordered injunction is the most common result of an employee breaking a non compete agreement. This
means that instead of seeking monetary damages, the employer simply asks the court to enforce the
non compete agreement by making the employee leave their new employer. However, seeking

It didn t take long for the killer to discover more information on Vivian, her date and place of birth, hopsital records, previous residences, schooling exams, college application and employment history, and the more he discovered the more he was encouraged that indeed she was who and what she said she was. The most interesting discovery was her medical records, and the man s eyes furrowed in an expression of curiosity as he scrolled through the list of her prescriptions, and then eventually came to her diagosis. Out of the five career strategy components, the two that stood out for me were extending experiences and networking/connecting. Reflecting on my educational and professional career, these two themes have been the most relevant. Extending experiences When I graduated from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), I expected to get a job within the month. I believed that by simply having my degree I would stand out from the group, little did I know this was completely false. I had a resume with little experience and realized it was my lack of previous experiences that would haunt me. In addition to having little experience, I never visited a career counselor at UCSB to assist me with the proper structure of a resume and cover letter. Feeling unprepared and disappointed at myself about how I used my time while at UCSB, I fell into a minor depression. After every denial email from employers, my depression grew. However, it was one experience that truly shaped my job search perception. I applied to any and every job in the market and got the opportunity to interview for AT T for a clerk position. Going into the job interview I had high hopes because I knew I had the discipline. When I entered the office where the interview was being held, the hiring manager asked me a few questions about myself and then he stopped. He was looking over my resume and ... He accomplished a lot of things as president such as putting an end to slavery as well as he had plenty of amazing speeches that had some of the best quotes and these together made the people love him. The way president Lincoln ended slavery was tactful and necessary. He initially started as antislavery and transitioned to emancipation. The quote Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, declaring all slaves in rebel states should be free as of Jan. 1, 1863, (Paul) expresses how he even had a preliminary proclamation to test the waters first. • 6. The Chernobyl Disaster And The Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Uranium, which is the ninety second element on the periodic table, is a very interesting element. The radioactive uranium is used in atomic bombs. Also, people use it in what is called nuclear power, an energy source that fourteen percent of the world uses. (NPR 3) In a nuclear power plant, a process called fission that uses uranium is used to generate power. During fission, each uranium atom is bombarded by neutrons, causing each uranium atom to turn into one atom of barium, one atom of krypton, and three neutrons. These three neutrons bombard other uranium atoms, resulting in more neutrons being produced and creating a chain reaction. Each time the uranium atom split, energy is released. Developmental psychologists try to explain cognitive development approaches which describe the process of human s thought. One of the developmental psychologist who studied on the area of cognitive was Jean Piaget. Jean Piaget a Swiss psychologist was the first developmental researcher who has extensive research on cognitive development. In addition, the revolution of Jean Piaget s cognitive theory has changed the development psychology forever. In fact, although this theory is one of the most influential theories that have had a major impact on child s cognitive development, many developmental psychologist has been criticized it as well(Miller,2007). Therefore, the limitations of this theory made the developmental psychologists thinking of information processing theory might complete Piaget s Theory(Miller,2007). Information processing theory is another theory that was engaged in the era of cognitive development. It is possible to better understand Piaget theory and Information Processing theory by comparing several important aspects of developmental psychology: nature of humans, quantitative or qualitative, and nature or nurture. In analogy, humans evolve (in the bigger and smaller scale) not only because of our side environment, but also the pressure under the notion that only the fittest among us can survive. In the comparison between phone calls and texts, texts are not any more technologically advanced than phone calls are. However, we in general still prefer texts, and intentionally or unintentionally make others around us use them because of the efficiency behind them. William Paley s Theological argument for the existence of God raises quite a few questions from the offset of Paley s book Natural Theology. The first piece of evidence that he uses to argue his point is his analogy of him stumbling upon a stone in a field and wondering how it came to be there , Paley states that he could argue that it would be acceptable to believe that the stone had stayed there forever due to the fact he has no prior knowledge of how it came to be there. • 23. Notes on Significant Religious Events and People in History The Council of Trent was fairly important in its role of stratifying the Christian Church. The council occurred over a period of nearly 20 years in Italy and was initiated by the Roman Catholic Church. There were a number of points of contention that the council was able to satisfy with other components of Christianity, namely those pertaining to the Protestant movement that was still relatively new at the time. Essentially, the council was able to formalize proceedings and practices for several sacraments and other conceptions of Christianity including notions of original sin and the Eucharist. The Hanseatic League occurred approximately between the 13th and the 17th centuries along the coastline of the Northern part of Europe. What the league was initially formed for was to secure trade for merchants who traveled outside of their native cities. It involved cities in various parts of Germany and Holland, among other nations. Trade guilds and those for merchants helped to develop many of the measures that were implemented by the guild in attempts to protect the economic interests of European cities when their merchants traveled abroad to inherently import and export goods. The Society of Jesus was the principle organization that engendered the modern day scion of Christianity whose members are known as Jesuits. This society was initially formed by Ignatius in the early part of the 16th century. Ignatius developed this organization in accordance with the will of the Pope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Music Education And Its Effect On Education The German philosopher, Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, referred to a life without music as a mistake ( Don t ). Unfortunately, many children never get the opportunity to discover the fulfillment that music can bring to their lives. They are denied this chance by an unfair educational system. Music education is beneficial to the student throughout his entire life, thus it should not be cast aside and neglected as it often is in the public school system today, but instead schools should do just the opposite; treat music education as a priority. The evidence makes clear the benefits of playing a musical instrument on students abilities to perform academically. For example, the Harmony Project is an after school program that provides music lessons to children from underprivileged neighborhoods of California. Ninety three percent of seniors in the program have graduated from high school in four years and gone on to college. This is truly incredible when one considers that the communities where the program takes place have dropout rates of over 50% (Turner). One explanation for this significant improvement is the direct impact playing music has on the students brains. A study conducted by Nina Kraus, a neurobiologist at Northwestern University, demonstrates this impact. By running tests on the program s members, Kraus data suggests students who had studied music for two years were better at processing speech than those who had been in the program for only one year (Turner). ... • 25. The Disillusionment Of Optimism In Candide, By Voltaire In the novel Candide, Voltaire satirizes the disillusionment of optimism by depicting a multitude of hardships seen around the world. Candide, the open minded protagonist, has been exposed to Pangloss s optimistic philosophy for the majority of his life. However, throughout the course of the novel, it becomes increasingly difficult to see the positive side of all the catastrophe surrounding him. It is only after he starts doubting this philosophy that Candide starts to become influenced by the teachings of Martin. Although Candide resides in security at the conclusion, Voltaire draws on the disastrous events seen throughout the novel and utilizes Martin s pessimistic point of view to claim that human nature is incomplete without suffering. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a way, Martin acts as the embodiment of Voltaire s opinions, as the author constantly satirizes optimism in the novel. For example, when Candide sees Vanderdendur s ship sink after stealing Candide s money, he comments that crime is sometimes punished (Voltaire 93). This statement itself inherently points to the loss of optimism within Candide, as he admits that some crime does go unpunished. Furthermore, Martin draws truth the innate evil of the world by pointing out that the devil has drowned the rest (94) of the ship s members. Even though the bad deed of the Dutch captain had been punished, it came with the effect of killing a larger amount of innocent men. Through this sequence of events, Voltaire thus states that a righteous event can only occur at the expense of inflicting suffering upon others. The end of the novel places Pangloss and Martin together on the farm in Constantinople, and it is in this tranquil setting that readers find the most revealing truths of humanity. At this point, the pessimism of Martin has become such a large influence that even Cacambo and the old woman draw similar conclusions about humanity. • 26. Propaganda Techniques In Today s Advertising The business of advertising is a business built on the manipulation of consumers. Companies utilize several different tactics to instill a desire for their product in their target audience. The California Almonds Advertisement in the January February 2012 edition of Weight Watchers magazine creates a desire for its product by utilizing enriching word, appealing images and subtle hidden messages. The California Almonds advertisement first encourages a desire for its product by using enriching words such as loves, desire, nutrient rich, healthy and nourish. According to an avid almond consumer, Lorri Izzo stated that she felt the words Nutrient rich, desire, love and nourish were all words that she said made her want to eat almonds. Anthony Izzo, another almond consumer, also stated that the same words that Mrs. Izzo pointed out stood out to him as well. The author of Propaganda Techniques in Today s Advertising , Ann McClintock, states that some advertisers use a form of propaganda known as Card stacking. Card stacking is when the advertisers only tell half truths or omit certain details to convince the target audience to buy their product. This propaganda technique is utilized in the California Almonds advertisement because they use a half truth that states that Just a handful (of almonds) a day can nourish your heart by helping you maintain healthy cholesterol levels. • 34. John Stuart Mill s Definition Of Quality John Stuart Mill s definition of quality can be broken down distinctively into four separate definitions. When evaluating pleasures, J. S. Mill alleged the quality of particular pleasures is determined by how much pleasure the person obtains from the pleasure, in addition to, how just the pleasure is beneficially to society. Moreover, Mill argued against ...Bentham s purely quantitative view of pleasure. Without denying that quantity is a consideration in the calculation of pleasure, Mill believed that it is not as important as the consideration of quality (MILL S VERSION: QUALITY OVER QUANTITY ). Therefore, the following details Mill explicates quality and quantity, exemplifying each of these ideas. First, quality may be defined as the qualities, properties or powers of something. For example, raindrops have the quality of being small, clear and wet. Meaning, when it rains, the raindrops hold the power to produce, in a humans mind, the idea and/or feeling of being small, clear and wet. This idea of quality simply means the power something has. In a second sense, when the word quality is opposed to quantity , it is a name or label under which we class the properties or qualities that something possesses other than quantity (Vergara 5). The following compares two items that only differ in quantity, but not quality. For example, the quality of two bottles filled with the same type of water has the same quality, however, the quantity of the water differs. Whereas, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
