This paper discusses the design of a microstrip patch antenna optimized for a 2.4 GHz frequency using an H-shaped defected ground structure (DGS) to enhance bandwidth and miniaturization. Simulations show that the proposed DGS antenna achieves improved performance with larger bandwidth and gain compared to a conventional square patch antenna, with a maximum size reduction of 65.51%. The antenna applications include wireless LAN protocols such as Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11.
