Introduction
• Women safety is a very important issue due to rising crimes against
women these days.
• To help resolve this issue, a GPS based women safety system is
proposed that has dual security feature.
• This device consists of a system that ensures dual alerts in case a
woman is harassed or she thinks she is in trouble.
• This system can be turned on by a woman even if she thinks she
would be in trouble.
• It is useful because once an incident occurs she may or may not get
the chance to press the emergency button.
• In a button press alerting system, if a woman is hit on her head from
behind, she might never get a chance to press panic button and no
one will know she is in trouble.

Components Used
• It is an open source computer hardware and
software.

Arduino UNO
• It is a ARM based embedded GPS module
which allows to connect to Devkit8000 board
for GSM/GPRS solution.
• The Devkit8000's UART (the serial port)
from the expansion connector is used to
communicate with the GPRS module.
• GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) is a
packet based wireless communication service
which is used for various data applications on
phones, including wireless Internet (WAP),
MMS and software that connects to the
Internet.
• It is an overlay to the GSM network.

GPS Module
• A GPS navigation device, GPS
receiver, or simply GPS is a device
that is capable of receiving
information from GPS satellites and
then to calculate the device's
geographical position.
• Using suitable software, the device
may display the position on a map,
and it may offer directions.
Fingerprint Scanner
• A fingerprint sensor is an electronic device used to
capture a digital image of the fingerprint pattern.
• The captured image is called a live scan.
• This live scan is digitally processed to create a
biometric template which is stored and used for
matching.
• It is an electrical device that supplies
electric power to an electric load.
• The primary function of a power
supply is to convert electric current
from a source to the correct voltage,
current and frequency to power the
load.

• A buzzer or beeper is an audio
signaling device, which may be
mechanical, electromechanical.
• Typical uses of buzzers and
beepers include alarm devices,
timers, and confirmation of user
input such as a mouse click or
keystroke.
• It is a flat- panel display or

optical device that uses the
light-modulating properties of
liquid crystals.

• It is a two-lead semiconductor light
source.
• It is p-n junction diode that emits
light when activated.
• When a suitable voltage is applied to
the leads, electrons are able to
recombine with electron holes within
the device, releasing energy in the
from of photons.

for controlling some aspect of
a machine or a process.
• Buttons are typically made out
of hard material, usually plastic
or metal.
• It is a passive two-terminal

a circuit element.

adjust signal levels, to divide

Arduino Compiler
• Arduino compiler is computer software that transforms
computer code written in one programming language into
another programming language.
• Arduino Compilers are a type of translator that support
digital devices, primarily computers.
• The name compiler is primarily used for programs that
translate source code from a high-level programming
language to a lower level language (e.g., assembly language,
object code, or machine code) to create an executable
program.
MC Programming Language
• Microcontrollers were originally
programmed only in assembly language,
but various high-level programming
languages, such as C, Python and
JavaScript, are now also in common use
to target microcontrollers and
embedded systems.
• These languages are either designed
specially for the purpose, or versions of
general purpose languages such as the C
programming language.

• Power is supplied to the system.
• The Arduino UNO is programmed in Arduino IDE.
• LCD display is the display where user can see the status of
the system.
• Fingerprint scanner is connect to Arduino UNO for taking
the fingerprint of the user and send to Arduino.
• GPS + GSM module is connected to Arduino UNO, this two
module collects the information and sends data to Arduino
UNO.
• Buzzer is an audio signal device, which is used to buzz sound
whenever it is needed.
• At last, a SMS(Short Message Service) is sends to a phone.
Advantages
 It is safe and easy to use.
 It can be used by children, teenager girls, women, old lady
or old men.
 Mobile number can be changed at any time.
Disadvantages
o It is too big in size.
o It is difficult to carry and move from one place to another.
o When the power will turns OFF, then the total system will
turn OFF, so battery is always required .
o SIM card is needed for GSM module.
Applications
 It is used for safety of the women.
 It will be used for child tracking during school time.

Future Scope
We can also interface this system with Smart Phone or
Mobile and laptop.
We can use this safety device in hand bags, luggage, vehicle
etc.
By using Nano size materials, the kit size gets reduced.
Using wireless GPS module and wireless panic button the
carrying of the kit can be avoided.
This system is also can be interfaced with vehicle’s air bag
system.
