Volgens Steven laten Nederlanders zich nog teveel beperken door de grenzen van het lokale ecosysteem en zijn hierdoor onvoldoende in staat om te profiteren van netwerken, kennis en financieringen die internationaal beschikbaar zijn. Steven: “Als je kijkt naar hoe de omgeving verandert kun je twee houdingen aannemen: inzetten op het behouden van wat er is (defensief) of het omarmen van die verandering en kijken wat je hier aan kan doen (open houding). Dit houdt in dat je risico’s moet durven nemen.
