PM: groei = gemm. Werknemersgroei met 10 p.p.p.jaar

91. Driving Agile Change is Critical
for Success
Mechanistic
Models
● Stable and predictable situations
● Specialized tasks in silos
● Coordination by hierarchy
● Single „brain“
● Focus on authority
● Drive change periodically
Dynamic
Models
● Unpredictable environments
● Teamwork and collaboration
● Coordination by interaction
● Distributed competence
● Focus on influence
● Drive change continuously

A LOT OF MONEY IS BEING PUMPED INTO SILICON VALLEY START-UPS, INVESTORS AIM FOR 1 IN 10 TO TURN INTO A SUCCESS, IS THIS SUSTAINABLE?
WHAT KIND OF BEHAHIOR DOES THIS SYSTEM CREATE? EASY TO “MAKE MISTAKES”, WHEN THERE SEEMS TO BE ENDLESS STREAM OF MONEY FLOWING IN.
IS SILICON VALLY A BUBBLE, THAT WILL ONCE BURST?
- Zie ook de valuations…. Based on expected “exit value”…..
1980 IDEO developed first mouse for Apple Computers.
Pioneered Design Thinking.
Andere manier van weergeven: essentie is: kort cyclisch, divergeren, convergeren
Iedereen kent elkaar. 500 start ups verzamelgebouwen. Hierwerken ze echt samen, open spaces, veel borrelen, veel netwerken. Snel innoveren, veel delen. Ijzersterke innnovatie cultuur.
benadruk: leveraged assets, staff on demand, data (platforms) ipv eigen bezit
Convergence = experience in which all employees are connected (social), everywhere they go (mobile), and have access to data when and where they need it (cloud).” http://www.business2community.com/business-innovation/convergence-social-mobile-data-cloud-matters-field-based-businesses-01211997#jo5j389D74uMX1JP.97
In organizations: With cloud technology, employees can upload large quantities of data remotely using their phones. The cloud allows real-time sharing, which ties in with the social aspect of convergence encouraging further collaboration between team members. Real-time data collection and analysis allows organizations to gain immediate insight into problems in the field, allowing them to respond quickly.

From a traditional company to a data company
E.i Rimowa
A new way of thinking your business – thinking experiment about existing and potential future business models:
For data companies like Facebook, Snap – what do they know about people? How can they use this data?
For organizations that are not traditional data companies – what would they know about people if they were a data company? How could they make use of this data?
Bijna heel zorgverlenend nederland is langs gegaan. Zijn meerdere van in america. Zijn niet zo groot, 1 miljoen klanten. Hele hoge klant tevredenheid.
Trust in the business world (as measured by the proportion of employees who say they have a “high level of trust in management and the organization” they work for) is near an all-time low
The Alliance is organized by tours of duty.
Realistic time frames, grounded in a mission.
From the European perspective, if we look at our European corporate cultures we can – at least at a rather general level – see the following crucial points and questions:
In the European national and professional cultural context the following elements play a major role: focus on regulation and stability, bureaucracy guaranteeing order, safety, appraisal of institutions, being skeptical in terms of radical new ideas, fostering incremental innovation, focus on analyzing and planning, reducing uncertainty, avoiding risk.
Maybe this was an appropriate cultural context for organizations in the industrial era, but this will probably not be an appropriate context for the new era of VUCA and agile organizations.
How can we deal with this cultural heritage? What can we learn from the Silicon Valley experience?
Input from Homa Bahrami
A typical SV culture: Google
An attitude towards work that is pro-active: Ask instead of waiting to be asked, do instead of waiting for permission to do something. „Ask for forgivess, not for permission“ David Weekly, Google
The power of places
Could you imagine implementing your IT service desk in an open space in the middle of your office designed like the desk of an apple store? Where IT people support their internal customers transparently and are highly appreciated by users instead of hiding IT somewhere in the dark area of an office building? What do you think about an office where the kitchen is the main communication area and once a week soup for 200 people will be prepared together, cooked and served?
Have you ever seen a restroom which is used as an intimate feedback zone, where people are asked for their opinion regarding 2-3 relevant questions. Where everybody could position his/her opinion by placing dots. By doing this, IDEO makes a permanent pulse check visible for everybody.

the company uses the design thinking methodology to design products, services, environments, and digital experiences
