Follow-Up Assessment
During the spring semester of my junior year at Indiana State University, I had the opportunity to tutor
two second grade students as part of my English as a Second Language (ESL) minor. These students
were motivated to learn and understand the material being taught. Upon being successful on a follow
up assessment, the students no longer required services for English learning. I know this was
accomplished through a team effort of teachers, aides, tutors, and administration. It was a great benefit
to be a part of this noteworthy victory.
Having much success with these students, I was asked to stay to continue working with ESL learners.
I was introduced to a student needing tutoring and approached this situation as I did the semester
